Excellent communication and a great tour! They provided all the info needed prior to the tour and called to confirm the details the day before. They did end up swapping our tour time a couple times, but I didn't have anything else planned that day so I had the flexibility. The waiting room hospitality was quite good, with coffee, tea, and water. The wall decor and infographics were interesting to look at too. The safety briefing was concise but to the point and they provided clear and direct instruction prior to heading out to the airfield. They tooks photos of us with the heli and also took a photo with one of our phones. The pilot/tour guide was very engaging, informative, and made sure to warn us of any possible turbulence so we wouldn't get startled. read more

Blue Hawaiian let me book a tour where I was going to be the only passenger, even though tours cannot run unless there are at least 4 passengers. There was no mention of this on the website, and no warning that my tour would be subject to cancellation for this reason (the potential weather cancellation explanation doesn't apply here). Additionally, while passengers need to give notice at least 24 hours in advance if they want a refund, Blue Hawaiian let me know of the cancellation less than 24 hours beforehand, showing they do not hold themselves to the same standards they hold customers to. Since my original tour of the Waterfalls of West Maui and Molokai got cancelled, the only available option that worked with my schedule was the Majestic Maui tour, which I didn't want to go on, otherwise I would've booked it in the first place. It's wildly deceptive and shitty for Blue Hawaiian to let the customers pay for a certain tour without any extended notice or warning that it might not happen due to a lack of participants, and the website needs to be updated to reflect this, with some sort of pop-up notification or warning that this outcome is a possibility. To be frank, I regret booking with Blue Hawaiian because they seem like a company that lacks integrity and enjoys deceiving their customers, by advertising and letting them pay for products they almost certainly know are unable to be offered. All in all, fuck Blue Hawaiian and if I could give them 0 stars or half a star I would. read more

This was by far one of the coolest experiences ever. My uncle made the reservation and it appeared the whole process was easy. Upon arrival and check in we were greeted by the friendly employees. We were weighed (for safety and leveling out of the helicopter via seating arrangements) and shown a brief safety video. We were provided safety equipment and given a few minutes to use the bathroom and watch the other helicopters come and go. Oir pilot, Yoshi, was funny and informative. He made us feel safe the entire flight and showed his amazing skill by landing us super smooth during some pretty significant winds. We took the full Maui island tour. Seeing the island on the ground is spectacular but the views we got from the air were even better! The facility was clean and organized. PHENOMENAL experience!!!! Visited Maui from Jul 9th to Jul 16th to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary (Jul 11th). Booked this Road to Hana (1/2 land 1/2 Air) tour last minute and so thankful we did. Our pilot Chris was truly kind, knowledgeable and just AMAZING!!!!! He ensured our entire family of 5 (including my 16 year old daughter) were comfortable and safe at all times, especially considering that both my mother and daughter were terrified of heights. Everyone was at ease and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. For the most part, it was a beautiful day with some scattered rain clouds here and there, but the overall visibility was great and to see the Road to Hana below via air was breathtaking!!!! We saw a plethora of stunning waterfalls throughout the lush tropical forests and even some directly falling into the ocean combined with the heavenly shoreline of nonstop waves crashing along black sand beaches and ancient lava rock formations. This Maui helicopter tour was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I'm thankful for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters for turning a dream into reality for our family. We are eternally grateful for this experience and highly recommend to anyone wanting to see the amazing parts of Maui only visible from a birds eye view. I encourage you to consider the copilot chair upgrade if youre short and or heavier as i was tall and heavy (170lb) and was put in the middle back to weight balance and couldnt see much. Took the West Maui / Molokai ride on 9/28 at 1015am for my wife's birthday. Was hoping to make her day with an extraordinary experience. Sadly this wasn't it. We had selected this company over many other cheaper options and was extremely disappointed. It would appear other groups had no more than 4 passengers for other flights while we had 6. Had 6 passengers total (1 pilot front, 2 passengers front and 4 passengers rear). We were in the right rear seats with my wife next to the window. About 80-90% of the ride my wife had only a view of the open ocean which wasn't great. Had a couple of turns that allowed her to see the scenery but the monotony of the open ocean quickly bored her to sleep for the last 20 mins of the ride. Shared my experience with front office staff and just received an apology about our experience. This was definitely the most expensive excursion for our vacation here in Maui and also the worst experience. read more

Our pilot Derek was the best. Super cool guy. Really made our flight a pleasure. His knowledge of the culture and the island were top-notch. And he was very fun to fly with for the "Maui Spectacular" flight package. I highly suggest the "Maui Spectacular" because you get to land on a mountain and feel a completely different climate (cool air) and vibe (silence). It was like we were on a secluded ranch in the mountains with no noise, no hustle, and bustle of the island. Just nature and quiet, and a beautiful view of the island and water. I have been on Blue Hawaiian helicopters 4 times now. I loved it every time. But this last flight with Derek was the best. Oh, I also recommend purchasing the camera footage from the helicopter because it is way better than what you can capture from your phone. No reflections from the cockpit etc. Also, it records the music and the pilot telling you the stories about what you are looking at. read more

We booked a reservation on the Maui Spectacular, specifically for the two front seats. Our original flight was supposed to include flying over Haleakala but weather conditions that morning required an alteration to the route. The staff were excellent, they asked if we were okay with that, or they would be happy to re-book on another day. We decided to stay and had an excellent trip. Our re-route included a trip over Molokai and the views were spectacular. We were very pleased with the excursion, the comfort of the helicopter, and the kindness and warmth of the staff. We also opted to purchase the video as the helicopters has both interior and exterior cameras and I was confident that the video would augment what I captured on my own camera. As a firefighter, I was also most interested in their safety practices and was truly impressed. They clearly take safety seriously; even taking a view into their shop I could see that it was clean and organized. They are clear about expectations on moving on the flight line and in proximity to a helicopter. They provided safety briefings before flight. I would certainly fly with them again (and likely will) but would also highly recommend the folks at Blue Hawaiian. read more

Welcome, safety overview, pre-boarding and throughout the flight was excellent. We felt safe and concerned for overall. The pilot/tour guide was superb and open to fielding questions during the flight using our provided microphones (something new since my last flight many years ago with BH). The booking was the only challenging aspect as the booking agent wasn't very clear with her communications as it took several attempts to get to key answers which for readers here are as follows - although you have a date for your flight in mind, keep in mind that tours will only book and actually take off if they have minimum number of passengers (guessing thats both due to weight needs to keep craft balance and so they have enough revenue to justify fuel). That means the reservation is in flux if it's in non prime tourism periods. Provide them with a few options or be sure to call back each day to confirm your booking. Trips are super expensive (almost as much as a flight to HI from the Mainland), however worth the 50 min+ experience to start or end your Maui trip. It's a must do activity on the Island. read more

Directions: I had eve earliest flight. Give yourself time to get to the airport. Please note: My gps sent us to the airport under a different address on google maps which was Paia but it was the same airport we were supposed to be at. This is common. Be prepared for hiccups and leave early. Look for the helicopter sign and follow it. Parking is free. Dress: I wore a sweater because it was cold . Perks: They take a photo of you with your phone and gave me a couple post cards as a gift! Great perk. About the flight: Great experience and felt safe. I am editing this review, so please read to the end. There is good news there. This was a breathtakingly disappointing experience. I booked the Molokai Sea Cliffs & West Maui flight, selected the early flight as the sun would be low and light up the cliffs and waterfalls. I was really excited to get some good photos. I asked, twice, to have a seat where I could take photos. What I ended up with was a tour of Haleakala, in a seat that faced the sea. Which also meant the sun was in my face. I had a great view of the treetops because I could not see the ocean due to the sun angle. The man in the front seat wore white and beige, so all I got were reflections out of his window. The men on the other side spent the flight leaning forward blocking the window. I did have a sliver of window behind the pilot's head and the door jamb, and a view of the sky through the roof and between the tall people in the front seat. When the absolutely fantastic pilot, Derek, circled so I could see the waterfalls, the reflections of the man in front insured I could see almost nothing. The other time the pilot circled, the sun was dead on, so the view was blocked. I am incredibly, crushingly, disappointed. It was a horrible experience of being put on a flight that I didn't select and in a seat with no view at all. And here are some of the "best" photos I could get. EDIT: I emailed Blue Hawaiian and they responded in the most phenomenal way - not only will they refund the flight cost, but they are also sending a t-shirt and video. Now THAT is the way to make up for a business error. I also doubt that this mistake will be made in the future. So...would I recommend Blue Hawaiian? Yes. They took responsibility for their error in the classiest way possible. In fact, if I get back to Hawaii, I will book the flight with them again. read more

Top of the line experience! We originally planned for the whole family to take a helicopter ride over Maui and Molokai islands, but our 11 y/o got cold feet about flying in a heli. So my hubby and eldest were planning to go. We all showed up together and were greeted by Luke. He got the two checked in while my youngest and I went to see the helicopters from the window. A few minutes passed and Luke came over to ask if he'd like to go see the helicopter while it was parked. My husband had told him about my son's concerns w/o us knowing. Luke took us over, showed my son what the heli is all about. He explained how he'd be buckled in and safe and talked about what a ride would be like. He said he hoped some day he'd come back and fly with Blue Hawaiian. As we walked back in, my son was already saying he'd like to go on a ride sometime. As luck would have it, the other family that was scheduled to go ended up bailing last minute, so both my youngest and I were provided with the option to go, which we gladly took. If Luke hadn't introduced the heli to my son, I'm certain he wouldn't have gone. Everyone we interacted with was so helpful and friendly So up we went! It was fabulous! Glenda our pilot is so experienced and knowledgeable about the islands and we learned a TON from her. She twists and turns so that everyone in the heli gets a view. It was a stunning experience! I especially enjoyed learning about Molokai and seeing all the gorgeous waterfalls. Mother Nature graced us with a couple rainbows along the way too. It was simply beautiful. Tips: Wear dark colored Clothing to avoid glare on the windows in your photos and view. Ask lots of questions...they know the answers. You can buy a video of your ride on usb at the end. If you're on the fence about this, go for it, and go Blue Hawaiian for the ultimate ride. read more

Captain Mike was our guide during our 20 year anniversary flight around the whole island of Maui. Super nice guy. This was his retirement job he said. Pretty good gig, for a retirement job! You start off around the west side of the island and see the resorts, and then it is off to the crater, where everyone goes to see the sunset. So amazing. Then you go to the Hana side and see all the beautiful waterfalls and the Jurassic Park waterfall. We were with 4 other people (A family, with two kids) and they were cool too. This kid seemed like he was 9, but was asking high school questions. It was kind of funny. I would recommend asking a lot of questions to the pilot, since it is all on tape. We weren't going to get the $40 video of our tour, but I am glad I did. I have re-watched the hour video 4 times now. Maui is BEAUTIFUL! I is expensive, about $350 a ticket, but it was worth it! read more

SCAM ALERT: We had our original reservation changed due to bad weather (ordered champagne full island tour). They offered to fully refund to us AFTER we arrived ($200 taxi round trip). Due to being in the hole $200 we agreed to a modified Molokai tour for $319 person by the receptionist Had an amazing time actually and the pilots were great. I get home from my Hawaii trip and check my credit card and was charged $399 a person. I called 3 times to try to get a refund and they basically run you in circle and promise to call back. NO ONE called me back even though records said they tried. Apparently receptionists can lie to you. Unfortunately learned a life lesson to ask for a physical receipt before leaving and not trust blue Hawaiian concierge where I originally booked. Now I'm forced to leave bad reviews and have pending dispute for a refund from my credit card. DONT TRUST any prices they offer. read more

We loved the West Maui / Molokai helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian! The operation was well run and efficient! Our pilot, Rick, offered nice narration throughout the tour without over doing it. The sea cliffs of Molokai are incredible and a must see if you take a helicopter tour. The scenery was breathtaking. We saw waterfalls thousands of feet high, beautiful coastlines and gorgeous scenery. The trip back along the west coast of Maui and through the Iao Valley gave us a great view of Maui. It was a great tour and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the island. This is a must do and worth the expense. Our tour lasted about 1 hour and we took Blue Hawaiian because it was the top rated helicopter tour company. couple of people had not flown in a helicopter before and the ride was very smooth and our pilot was fantastic. Our flight was on the Eco-Copter. Very quite with individual seats and room not to feel cramped in a bowl. We remained cool and comfortable the entire tour. We were supposed to do a flight around Maui but due to wind conditions we went to Molokai and it was still a blast. Amazing views, he helped us spot Manta Rays, a pod of dolphins, and when a full 360 rainbow formed in front of us over the ocean we spent extra time looping around to get a better view. Organization - great Safety - great Inside staff - great Pilot - safe but his narration was poor or should i say boring. Not much for added stories or history about the area. Just blah.
