We called in the morning to see if we could rent mopeds and had them within an hour and a half (an hour if we didn't have to eat breakfast). The delivery made things even more convenient since we didn't have to go and pick them up. We met Keoki at the front of our hotel and he was so wonderful. We've never ridden mopeds before, but he pointed us to the videos and gave us some pointers and we were set! He also went out of his way to give us recommendations for where to snorkel and tell us about cool places to go on the island, including places to eat and stop along the way. We really could not have asked for a better experience. We had initially only rented the mopeds for a day but had so much fun that we extended until the end of our trip. To return them, all we had to do was call them and arrange for the pickup. It was so easy. Renting mopeds our trip so memorable and allowed us to explore so much more of the island. And the drop-off/pick-up service made the process SO EASY and so seamless. If you're considering it, just do it. You won't regret it!

Alan was very friendly and knowledgeable about cars and offered us Mazda for $245 for whole week and they don't charge for delivery to the airport so we just been picked up from there for free on our nice and clean Mazda with full tank of gas, which took us all over the island. I could…read moredetail the tour and talk about all the great views but that is pretty much the same with all the bike tour companies that go up the volcano. Since we have toured with other companies, I want to tell you what I think Maui Bombers does better. If you want general information about the route, check their website. Communication- instead of only getting canned responses from the internet reservation program you get messages from Matt that respond back to his cell phone. Small Group- only six in our group. We jumped in a Honda Pilot and headed up the volcano with Matt and Eric. The small group size created a more intimate experience. We talked with each other, shared experiences and had laughs. Matt and Eric joined our conversations as well. We all got to know each other a little bit. You don't get that on a bus with 15 other people. Hospitality- we were taken care of by the guys who run the company not employees who may or may not have the best interest of the company in mind. Matt fresh baked treats for us and worked to make everyone feel like family. Seriously, Matt could also be a baking star with his Coconut Muffins and Lilikoi Bars. Guess Eric doesn't bake, but he does drive well. Equipment- we rode newer Trek mountain bikes with street tires. Comfortable helmets, windbreakers and gloves also provided if you like. Upgrade from the single speed heavy cruiser bikes most tour companies use. The Treks are nimble and easy to ride. Tour Route- we had a longer tour route than other companies, on the way down we passed the other groups loading up while we were on the way to the beach. Personality- Matt is a loud energetic let's have fun kinda of guy, great for a guide. Played inspirational music from his bike to keep the energy up. Did I mention Matt is loud and animated? Eric is a little more reserved but is there to take care of business loading/unloading bikes, driving the safety car and just making sure everything is great. Great team, very professional. Safety- I don't mean to imply that you will be unsafe on any of the other tours but we felt safe and taken care of on our tour with Maui Bombers. Good bike check and safety briefing and hand signals. I appreciate that Matt leads the way, warning if necessary and making turns on the correct roads. Eric followed behind in the safety car keeping traffic at bay and letting Matt know when we needed to find a pull off spot to let traffic pass. We saw one tour where the guide followed the pack, yikes...guide following? Our tour also left a little later allowing most of the local and tourist traffic to clear the volcano and villages so we had the road pretty much to ourselves. Photos and Videos- along the tour Matt takes photos and videos of the group and scenery. While that is not unique, on the way back Matt airdrops all the photos and videos to everyone. No extra charge and they are great quality. Really nice perk. Price- Maui bombers was a bit higher than some of the others but you know what, you get what you pay for. Small group, equipment, snacks, photos...yeah, you get what you pay for. The Real Deal- Matt and Eric are the guys. They take care of you like their business and reputation depends on it because it does. The energy is great. These are the reasons for my five star review of Maui Bombers. Highly recommended.

He left it up to me if I wanted to do that or cancel. We were game and we said let's go. Pick up was easy. Plus Matt does small parties. We start off with the coconut pineapple muffin he made. Which was insanely delicious. Then he says"we are going to drive up and double check to see if we can get in because there has been no updates". We got lucky and we made it up the mountain as they had fixed the sink hole and the road was clear. We were the only ones up there because the other bike company did not even try. So that was a big bonus. We had one in our party decide it was too dangerous and Matt handled that perfectly. And then she tried to bike an easier part and quit. He handled that perfectly too. Then we got to check out Makawao for 20 min. Which was cool. Then we rode all the way down to Pa'ia. And met him at Baldwin Beach area. 17 total miles of bike riding. All easy coasting. Of course the first 7 miles is all switchbacks and thrilling. With Matt you do not have to wear motorcycle helmets, you wear bike helmets. Matt provides that and optional bike gloves. He even has wind breakers if you forget yours. We all had the best bike ride of our lives. No joke. We are still talking about it today. And actually that is not a bike ride. That is a thrill ride. All those switchbacks etc. Matt drives you back to your car at Target. He gives you a second treat. His passion fruit squares. These were very delicious too. Do not rent with them! This is a shady business that consist of older model cars parked in a junk…read moreyard. They offer pick-up to and from the airport once you book your rental with them. The female worker was the only employee who is pleasant to deal with. We received an older 2012 SUV, which was ok, if the car was not a piece of junk. Unfortunately, this car was done, as it was at over 117K mileage. It also had a lot of dents, marks, scratches, etc. Our biggest regret was keeping the rental as it was. The paperwork was already filled out when we got there. We returned the car at the end of our trip. No issues until we got to the parking lot. The engine light turned on. We immediately reported to the female employee. She nodded that the car was 12 years old. It was bound to encounter issues along the way. We received a phone call from the "CEO of operations" after two days. Now, we're told the car died. It won't start. He said it was in "good working condition" prior to the rental. We had two options. We can agree to pay the invoice from the mechanics for the "damages." Or they can file with our car insurance and say the car was totaled. Obviously, we did not agree with either options. It was not comprehensible as to how they can fault us for a crappy car. They should count their lucky stars that the scrap metal ran its course. No back up camera or GPS system. It was completely outdated. It was quite fortunate that no one got hurt or injured with this rental car. Anyhow, he ended the call saying the cars belonged to several "owners". And, they will definitely be in touch to file an insurance claim. Be very cautious if you decide to book with them. I wouldn't trust these scammers at all! It appears they devise these schemes by renting out old junk cars. They are completely aware that 90% of their fleet is not operable. Or it ran its course. Then, they file bogus fraud insurance claims to get new cars. Go with a legit, reputable car rental company!

Second, the website is VERY deceptive in terms of available vehicles. Third, when we arrived, we were picked up in a beat-up van by an unfriendly driver who gave the vibe that we were inconveniencing him because he had to pick us up. When we arrived, we were met by a rather surly gentleman who took us to a SUV with 149,000 miles (I have photographic evidence to prove this) on it and looked like it had been in a demolition derby. We immediately asked for another car and he told us "nothing else was available". Driving the car, I noticed that the brakes were iffy and one of the seat belts was not functioning properly (plus, it was so old that there was no navigation). The family refused to continue driving in this dangerous deathtrap vehicle and I was forced to rent ANOTHER vehicle from Enterprise for the remainder of our vacation. When it was time to return the car, I got a text to return the car with a full tank (despite the fact that we got the car with a half-tank and he verbally told me to return in the same way). I opted to return the car with a full tank because I thought this rental agency would screw me with excess gas charges. When we returned the car, we were told that there was no transportation back to the airport and we were forced to drive this same vehicle to the airport and leave it for them to retrieve. A miserable experience...never again (the big fear was that the car would "die" and strand us by the side of the road). PS-DO NOT believe the website pictures!

They fit you with everything you need, from gloves, to backpacks, to jackets, you name it. I loved the tour information on the way up, particularly the suggestions on where to stop along the way. Shoutout to our guide who was super friendly and full of information; I believe his name was Matius. Also, being a late riser, I appreciated that our tour didn't start at the crack of dawn. The first section of the mountain you fly down; I managed to reach speeds of almost 35mph! The second section of the ride allows you to stop and shop. I enjoyed the self-paced aspect of this tour. Overall, if you're looking for something fun to do with lots of scenery along the way, Maui Sunriders is the way to go!
