This office is an absolute scam. I was charged $1175 for a 20 minute office visit and a routine office examination.

This is NOT a review of Dr. Gourdji or any other doctor in this practice. This is a review of the patient service at this office. They are corporately owned by Unio Health and the office treats you like a number, not a person. You can never get a person on the phone, rather it's leave a voice mail or use their web portal (that isn't the same name as the office--- Unio, a Genesis Health facility). If you leave a voice mail they promise to get back to you within 48 hours which is NOT acceptable. The phone tree is a time suck. They must be understaffed. Furthermore, they sign you up with a corporate "Health program" where an RN in Tennessee calls you to discuss and update your health. She's a generalist, not someone familiar with your chart. Then they charge your insurance (Medicare) for a "visit" when a doctor in this practice reviews some general information that the RN has sent to them. This reeks of unnecessary charges. However there is no button to push for front desk if you just want to ask a question. There are separate departments who call you to make an appointment or other service. I did the test for Sibo. There is only one person who does only Sibo Tests, When I finally got the result of my test they called me to tell me I was positive. She said I needed an antibiotic for this. I said ok please call my pharmacy. She said Doctor wants to talk to you first. I said ok. He can do Telehealth next Tuesday which was in a week. I said why - He can call me now and just relay the message so I could get the medicine and begin my treatment. No I have to wait a week for an appointment, Thought was very strange. Really this office is very difficult to deal with. Dr Gourdji is very nice and has tried to help me. But I don't feel well taken care of. I have crazy IBS with a lot of discomfort. Tried a lot of medicines that did nothing. I hope this treatment for Sibo will help my issues. read more

They call me the day before my appointment to tell me they sent an email that needs to be completed 3 days before my appointment. Why not send it sooner? Then she calls me and is rude and tells me my appointment is canceled ? Lol okay good if you're this rude I don't even want you to take my money. Bunch of incompetent assholes. This review only pertains to their office staff as I never got to see the doctor. First, they are booked really far out and when I called the soonest I could make an appointment was a month and a half out. They then sent me paperwork to fill out online and a link to set up an account with their online portal. I completed both of those within a week of receiving them. Fast forward to the day of my appointment and no call for confirming the appointment or answering Covid questions which is pretty standard at doctors offices nowadays. So I called them. They were "sent the wrong information for my appointment" and just marked it as confirmed in their system as they never tried to get a hold of me. And then the proceeded to tell me they did not have my paperwork. That it's emailed to them from the jot form system and they didn't get it. I even tried to submit it again and it wouldn't let me as it said I already submitted it. Both very concerning things containing my personal information which seems to go against HIPPA laws and does not make me feel comfortable working with this doctors office. The doctor may be fine but their office needs to get a handle on their process and find better ways to work with their patient's personal information. read more

After 43 years of digestion issues Dr. Gourdji was the first to diagnose me with sibo. He prescribed ne three medicine to make sure it gets fully knocked out. I am so happy that I will finally have a flat and happy stomach again. I am also in shock how many doctors missed this and for so long I suffered. Going to the best doctors is a must!!!! read more

**As an 'update' I would like to mention that after my one star review, he had suddenly received many 5 star reviews by brand new people/accounts, with zero prior reviews, and few newer ones. Dr. Maurice Gourdji, is my gastroenterologist for years. Recently, I had a very severe case of colitis. It took close to two weeks to subside. Obviously Dr. Gourdji was my busy gastro-guy. The reason I am writing this review is the let people know about his dedication too. He has been in contact with me daily by phone and text, sometimes twice a day and on the weekends too. This shows the real interest that unfortunately some doctors may falter. He did not wait for me to call him; it was he who initiated the calls. Dr Gourdji mixed my chart up with someone else after my procedure and gave me the wrong information and never took notes about our initial phone consult so when I called a few months later there was no information in my chart about anything we discussed. I recently went to Dr Gourdji for a routine procedure at his surgical center in Encino, CA. Dr Gourdji as well as his entire team were nothing short of perfect. Everyone on the team was professional, caring, and the center itself was immaculate. Following the procedure Dr Gourdji spent time with me explaining the results of my procedure, and then filled up with me again several days after. Again, the entire experience was perfect! read more

DR Gourdji saved my life! Back in 2011 I developed symptoms that could have been anything from Pancreatic Cancer or Bile Duct Cancer to nothing... The symptoms came and gone, no Ultrasound or MRI revealed anything! DR Gourdji and my GP insisted that there was something! Further test found a tumor that was still benign but would have eventually turned to cancer. Tumor removed and I became a dedicated patient of DR Gourdji who took care of my digestive system ever since. He is dedicated to his patients and caring not to mention his staff. If I could give ZERO starts I would. The way he treated my elderly mother over the past few weeks has been unbelievable. My mother had a colonoscopy and he claimed there was a mass on her appendix. My mother followed up for two weeks with no response back. If this was not terrible enough, my mother decided to go into the office to get her results and the staff assured the doctor would see her. She waited over an hour and the doctor told the staff he was doing a procedure and to tell my mother that she DOES NOT HAVE CANCER( through the front desk staff). This was false information because Dr. Gourdji finally decided to call my mother to tell her that he thinks it is something but he does not know what? So, he suggested to take her appendix out and contact the surgeon. My poor mom on having to endure all of this at 84 years old- we felt awful for her. She should not have needed to go through such stress at her age. I want to warn everyone about Dr. Gourdji. I hope people read this before making an appointment with this so-called medical professional. Please say a prayer for my mom and BEWARE of this doctor. read more

The entire operation is effective, professional and reassuring. Pre- and post procedure staff are caring and supportive. I particularly appreciated that Dr. Gourdji took the time for a brief post-procedure preliminary chat and up-date so that you left the office with an idea on how you were/are doing and did not have to wait for days for results. read more

Every five years for the last quarter-century I have had a colonoscopy, and each time Dr. Gourdji did it. He's excellent. I've referred friends and family to him, and I can assure you that they too would be pleased to write highly-positive comments about him. Everything and everyone rushed thru my procedure like a meat processing line. The doctor never even check to see how I was doing afterwards didn't speak to me about results or explained issues found in my colon procedure nothing I mean I engaged more with anesthesiologist, At the end of the line I asked for a doctors note to excuse myself from work lifting 10lbs and standing over 8 hrs after a colonoscopy and that was pulling teeth. This Doctor nurse some Asian lady that has orange blonde hair with blue contacts. Suggested that I get another job if I needed a doctors note and that they NEVER give next day excuses... I mean the level of care. I will never return here. Getting results was a waiting game just a terrible experience, the only positive that everything in the end was ok, I look back an NEVER want to do this or come here again. read more

This is what a doctors office should be. Scheudled my pre-surgery office visit. I was 10 minutes late, (called to let them know), they saw me promptly. Dr. Gourdji is very nice, I felt like he took a personal interest in me and was generous with his time. Scheduling the procedure was easy and efficient with his staff. The out patient surgery center was amazing, everyone from reception to the nurses were very professional, and courteous. Any medical procedure is stressful, however my experience with this doctor and his staff gave me zero stress. Highest recommendation. read more

I've been going to Dr Gourdji for several years now and I have zero complaints. He's done three colonoscopies and one endoscopy. He always explains things, is very nice and I trust his opinion completely. My only peripheral complaint is that his assistant Anna always seems to be noticeably unfriendly. I've never had any issues with her so I'm guessing it's just her manner but it is a bit off-putting. read more

Stay away! Get a Doctor who actually cares. If I could give negative stars I would. I went to get a colonoscopy a few years ago from Dr Gourdji and thought his bedside manner was lacking then. I decided to go back because I had an issue and didn't know another dr in his specialty. When I went back with a problem he was rude, inconsiderate, condescending and extremely unprofessional. I waited almost an hour to see him and when I got in the room he said it was almost 6 and he didn't have much time. I told him what my issues were and that I had seen another doctor previously about them, he got upset I had seen someone else and yelled at me to go back and see them! It was so strange and very unprofessional! I had to argue with him to examine me. I finally got so feed up I walked out in the middle of my appointment. If you want a compassionate caring doctor I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Dr. Gourdji completed a procedure on me a week ago. He explained everything thoroughly and gave me my options. When the procedure was completed he came by to discuss results and see how I was doing. I received a follow up call two days later. I found Dr. Gourdji to be kind and gentle. I would definitely recommend him. read more

Dr Gourdji and I were able to do a zoom conference and he ordered a testing kit so that I didn't have to come into the office. Doesn't seem like a very caring office, with rude receptionists - I'll just take my money elsewhere. Left a message and was promised a call back by the receptionist and never received a call back to at least tell me that she's working on getting my issue handled. Also, if you see another dr (even one time) at their medical group it's going to be a battle to see another one. I'm sorry, I pay a lot for my ppo and should be able to go to a closer dr to my home if I choose to. Just way too difficult to work with. Not going to keep chasing the receptionist for a status. I've had no bad experiences with Dr. Gourdji at all, a couple years ago I had an Endoscopy done which went very smooth and I still see him from time to time.. The staff is amazing! They make you feel so welcomed when you come into the office, Corinne, Barbara, and Shelly... When it comes to writing on the portal, Barbara, Dr Gourdji, and Susan are very quick to write back..
