This rating is on customer service alone. A few months ago my cousin generously purchased vintage sunglasses from this company for me. On the listing it did state that there was slight scratches on the lenses. There was a photo included in the post. The scratches didn't seem too bad in the photos. When the glasses came to me they were extremely poorly packaged and because of that the tips on the end of each ear post rubbed all over the lenses during transit which scratch them up ridiculously. Professionally when you ship glasses you put protection on the ends to prevent this from happening. There was nothing cushioning the posts and the lens/frame area to prevent this from happening. After speaking to Kim who was in charge of the sale she did not want to own up to any responsibility whatsoever and said it was the shipping carriers fault. The shipping carrier did not package my glasses into the box they came in. This company did. Since then I have taken them to various optical businesses to price the replacement of these lenses since they are completely damaged and I cannot use these glasses. I have been quoted $80 and up!! What was once a nice kind gesture by my cousin has became a headache that now we have to pay for. While I loved the products and items I've seen with this company they have lost a customer and will never purchase from them again. read more

Beautifully curated collection boho/mid-century/southwestern pieces alongside living plants from Solabee and some gorgeous local handmade products. They clearly put a lot of thought and effort into what makes it past the threshold and like another reviewer said, the styling is TIGHT. Their instagram account is one of my favorites because they post daily, you get to see previews of all the new items and the pictures are dreamy. I'm surprised by the reviews that complain about pricing. IMHO I find their prices to be fair and in line with similarly styled shops and often lower. (Seriously, I have picked up tips on how to style things I already own just by browsing at Maven). Bottom line: If you want thrift store pricing for vintage goods, please just go to the thrift store. But if you want someone to do all the hard work for you (sourcing, identifying, cleaning, appraising, curating, etc.) go to Maven Collective. read more

I was pretty disappointed with a recent purchase and dont think I'll be making further orders. Spent $28 on a "print" glued to cardboard and taped into a painted wooden frame. It fell apart as I tried hanging it. Unfortunately I found this to be fairly expensive for what it turned out to be. read more

This place is A-OK. Every now and then I've found something amazing here, but I'm pretty sure I've always caught it on sale. Like others have said it's pretty overpriced for what it is and they are really great at styling and making things look pretty on IG. They also have a lot of great plants from Pistils, and some actually locally handmade stuff--ceramics and jewelry--that you wouldn't know about unless you went in. read more

I emailed yesterday with an inquiry after buying it on their website and received a response within minutes. I found a lot of items I really liked, nothing was junk. I found one item I loved and purchased. Everything was in great condition at fair prices. Help support your locally owned shops, especially those that take in consignments like this one. That means all the cash flow is circulating in our local ecomony. Items in good condition, but the prices aren't reasonable for what is on offer. I noticed a brown velour chair...very comfy and it may fit in the right setting. Everything seemed to be from the 70's. I priced a set of museum books, and the store price isn't even close to what the complete sells for on collectible websites. I liked a pillow, priced at $10. Turns out it was from Pier One. This place used to be a favorite - not after our last visit. The customer service was atrocious. We were ignored when we walked in (and we were the only ones in the store). When inquiring about prices on ceramics, we were treated as if we were a burden. The shop keep at the time even snapped that she could hear our remarks from over at the counter and refused to inform us of any prices. I've never received this type of service in Portland. The instagram account is the only thing this shop has going for it - once you actually go into the shop it's disappointing to say the least (not to mention over-priced). There are many other shops close by that offer the same experience and merchandise for a more reasonable price and a much friendlier staff... Midnight Sunlight is only 8 minutes away on Stark & there's a sweet little place right across the street from Maven that we ended up finding plenty of vintage ceramics. read more

Amazing! I love this place, and the owner is so personable. If you want great finds, like Tea clothes for your baby at an affordable price, you must come here. She has great sales, last time everything was 25% off, and great selection. Finally, Montavilla has a useful store!! read more

I used to think this place was cool. They have a good eye for styling that's for sure. I've actually purchased several items from them over the last year or so, but not anymore. Most of the things they sell are disappointingly pricey. And, as it turns out, they just find their stuff on Craigslist (I also saw an Ikea basket there once) and then mark it way way up. Basically, their business is based on a good lookin' Instagram account and a bunch of rich out-of-state buyers who don't care how much things cost. No thanks. This is a really fun place to shop for antiques, quirky or even locally made crafts and clothing. I went in with friends the first time and came away really impressed with the variety of vintage items. But what made the experience better for me was the personal care of Jackie, the owner. She is thoughtful and knowledgeable. I mentioned I was looking for a vintage typewriter and not only did she jot this down in a 'wish list' log, but I got a call from her a couple weeks later. Now I have a really cool 60's style typewriter. I will definitely make a point to go into Maven at least once a month! read more

Today was my second time to Maven Collective... I wanted to love this store, and was hoping my second experience would be better than my first. I follow MC on IG, love their plants and home decor, whomever does their styling is clearly talented, but the customer service is some of the WORST I have ever experienced. The first visit in, my husband and I were ignored the 15 min we were in the store... and we were the only two people there. I greeted the person behind the counter who was engrossed with her iPhone rather than she greeting me... ok, big deal... maybe she was having a bad day. We bought a small plant and left. Today I came back with my girlfriend and the customer service was not just lacking, the person was downright rude. We got there 15 min before they closed... I worked retail for 5 years... I was aware of the closing time and was certainly respectful of that. No greeting, no smile, and she started Turing the lights off after we walked in. After about five min I brought a small plant to the counter and said "I want this for sure, I LOVE your IG account and my girlfriend and I drove about an hour to come see your store!" The woman's response was simply, "you know, we're closing in a minute"... nothing more. Seriously, not even a smile, a "thank you" for the complement ... nothing. We walked out at 4:01, as she turned another couple away simply by curtly saying we're closed" - I don't know if this person was the manager, the owner, or an employee, but if she was an employee and I were her boss, I'd be having a talk w my employee. I will never be back to this store. This is the kind of customer service is unacceptable when there are so many darling shops with good customer service. read more
