This review is for Adam Bohac. I had been drifting to different colorists for awhile, as I am very gray resistant and was not getting the right color, nor the right process to keep it in my hair longer than two weeks. Adam was the perfect colorist in his extreme in depth knowledge of the science behind coloring hair and different alternatives. He instructed me on what was happening to my hair from the pictures I sent him that he explained the science behind and what would be done differently. The color he chose on me, neutralized all the different bands of color in my hair from previous colorings, as he understood that my hair was very fine and held onto color strongly, so I had mixed bands. He also explained that I had some translucence, which he explained what that was to know that it wasn't just my gray resistance, it was the process that did not work from the previous coloring and why my gray was showing sooner than my growout, that in itself was very helpful. . I was very happy with the results and my hair is shiny, soft and the color is deep and rich like a fine dark chocolate with notes of deep chestnut in the sun. I trust him fully with experimenting further down the road with more color choices trusting the science behind the process. I also loved that he understood strengthening the hair after the coloring process is a good thing. His understanding of my fine hair was also a godsend. I am growing it out at the moment, so the cut is not very exciting, but he balanced it out with the right texturing to give it more life and movement, and most of all respected my choices and why. I have found my new colorist. He is extremely helpful and intuitive in guiding his clients to reach their hair potential! Adam is the absolute best! Hands down, the best haircuts I have ever had (and I have been to multiple elite salons and stylists over the years). He really understands hair - texture, thinness/thickness, shape, the direction it grows, what it can and can't do. He asks lots of questions before he starts cutting so that he understands what you want, but knows how to work with your hair to achieve it (and he will be honest with you if your hair goals are not well informed). He is able to take weight out of my hair unlike anyone with a certain technique, so my hair feels light, has movement, volume, no blunt edges and layers that blend really well. The cuts always grow out nicely too. He also understands color and is able to see eye-to-eye with me and articulate to me what I want better than I can. I booked my appointment with Marilyn at Mavericks west Salon after I realized I needed some help with my highlights. I previously had highlights done (and touch-up) at a different salon but I was never really satisfied with the results. The highlights made me too blonde and they were also very uneven and made all the way down to my roots, which resulted in a horrible root situation after only a couple of weeks. In addition, I felt like my current highlights were too yellow-ish and I had no depth and volume to my hair. Walking into my appointment, I felt a bit nervous since Im really bad at explaining exactly the look I was going for. I just wanted to look more natural and "beachy" and I wanted a better solution for my roots. Marilyn made me feel so comfortable and I understood right away that she knew what to do and how to make my hair look amazing. She walked me through each step of the process (both before and during!) and made me feel wonderful from the start. Marilyn is also very nice, outgoing and fun, and we chatted the whole time which made the whole process feel quick and effortless even though she spent approximately 2.5 hours with my hair. I can't say that I 100% understood everything that was going on with my roots and lowlights in combination with highlights and glazes, but I just knew that I could trust Marilyn and I was head over heels to see my new hair! The result is amazing! My hair looks just the way I always wanted it to look and I feel fabulous. Marilyn made my blonde hair look natural with more volume and depth and my roots are fantastic! I also really like how Marilyn planned out a long-term solution and she already know what to do in 3 months when I go back.
