If I could give this 0 stars I would. I made an appointment for a brake check at 11am. By 11:45 I still hadn't been seen so I asked what's going on and they claimed I was next in the bay. I watched three cars pull in before me before I went up and asked for my keys back around 12pm. Don't make appointments if you can't stand by them. Such a waste of time. The front desk guy had no idea what was going on. At 11:25 the first time I asked when I was going to be seen he asked me what I was there for again.... Total joke is can't really comment on the quality of the work done they didn't do any. Long story short I dropped off my car to get the exhaust looked at (leaking flex pipe). Heard from them the next day they wanted to replace everything from the Downpipe back for 1800 I was heading out of town and needed the car back quickly so I gave them go ahead to get the part since i did not have time to deal with it. Needless to say it wasn't done it time so I just took a rental car. When I got back it was 10 days it has been sitting there and still not done and no part. I had taken my truck to Mavis Tire for a NY inspection. They failed me due to rust on the rotor hoping to take advantage and get a $900 brake job out of it. I looked up the NY inspection law and there is no reason to fail a rotor unless it is cracked or broken. I took it to another garage the next day and they confirmed this and passed me. I needed some good all terrain tires for my F350, I was recommended to check out Mavis' selection. They had a wide variety, pretty much anything you needed. For my size tire and the brand, the price was very competitive. It was a no brainer to go here. Easy to make an appointment online. When I got there, staff was very friendly. Answered any questions I had. So they are very knowledgeable about their products. Their waiting area was very clean and looked good with rows of tires lining the windows. The only reason this wasnt rated 5 stars was due to wait time before they brought my truck in. It was about an hour after I got there is when the work started. Once the truck went in, it was a fast turn around. I understand they got other appointments or even walk in work to do. But, I thought with an appointment, I would be going in at that time. I would still definitely recommend them. I will be returning when I need another set. read more

REVIEW OF MAVIS TIRE IN CICERO: 1 star out of a possible 5. Consumer Warning I think I've calmed down enough to tell the Mavis Tire fiasco from earlier today. - 8:30am appointment for today, scheduled three weeks ago, to have my snows put on. Arrived 8:10am. He asks if I want new stems. I tell him why would I want new stems? He says most people get them. Really? It's the first time I've ever been asked that. My answer was no thank you. I don't recognize any workers I've dealt with in the past. - Left my car with them and walk to the Walmart behind Mavis and discover I left my phone in the car. - When I ask the guy to retrieve my phone from my car, which is now in the bay, I am informed I need new snows. I found that odd because although they were in the plastic bags they put them in last Spring, the exposed part of the snows looked fine for a third winter with no uneven wear. The tires THEY showed me had uneven wear. Were they mine? I will give them the benefit of the doubt here because I only saw each tire area that was not covered by the bag and was walking to Walmart & didn't observe them take my snows out of my vehicle. - I ask how much for new snows. He quotes me $752 and change. I confirm that is with whatever they have to do with the tire including tax. I confirmed that TWICE and had punched the number in on my phone calculator to remember the figure. - They tell me the new snows are at a warehouse on Henry Clay Blvd and will be here in an hour. Three hours later, they arrive & my car is ready with the new snows on them 30+ minutes later. - He rings me out and says, $787. I'm like, no. You quoted me $752. Why the difference, I ask. He corrects it and says he has it down to $750.80 and I pay it. - Up until this point, I am the calm, quiet, patient old lady with the gray hair. But I am about to lose my sh*t. - Usually they ask if I want them to store my all-seasons at the store and I always say no, please put them in my vehicle. They never asked. So I say, "Are my all-seasons in the back of my SUV?" He says, "No, your all-seasons are bad. Did you still want us to put them in the back?" I told him YES I want them!!! I told him they absolutely are NOT bad. They are only a year old. I even searched my checking account, while standing there, for the word Mavis and found I purchased them Sept'21. - He goes out behind the building and comes back with two tires, plus takes two tires from the bay area of where my car was. I yell out to the bay area, "Are those even MY tires?!?!" - The waiting area is full of customers, and at this point I'm pissed. I am purposely speaking loud enough for other customers to hear. I waited 4 hours, what should've taken two. I begin to think they did something hinky with the snow tires I brought. He misquotes me the amount owed from the figure he quoted earlier & I had confirmed (twice). - He says, "Yeah, your tires are good. The guy that was working on your car made a mistake." Ya think?!?!? - Facts: Purchased those all-season on 9/15/21. Had the snows put on 11/02/21. And then the all-seasons were put back on sometime in May,'22. This is documented with my receipts that I found and a screenshot of the various Mavis transactions coming out of my bank account. - Facts: I put a little less than 20K miles on a year. If I have snows on 6 months & all-seasons on 6 months, there is no way 10K miles are going to wear down a 36K tire, whether all-season or snow. So, THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR CAR TO MAVIS FOR TIRES OR SERVICE. Oh, and by the way, none of my receipts noted odometer readings. All are blank. That is the last time I go there, and when I get done speaking to someone at Mavis corporate HQ, a person or two better be unemployed. FEEL FREE TO SHARE. Ty read more

Made a 4pm reservation online for a NYS inspection. Showed up 15 minutes early and my truck wasn't brought into the bay till just passed 4:30pm. It's now 5:55pm and I'm looking at my truck on a lift with ALL 4 tires on the ground with nobody around it. What's the point of making a reservation!!! Mind you Valvoline inspected it yesterday and failed it only for tinted tail lights. I put on the stock ones, SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. Valvoline had it done and out in 30 minutes. It's been 2 hours!!! I had taken a break for about a year from going to this particular Mavis in Cicero as they had a change over some of their workers and it was not for the better. There was a woman there who was supposed to be a manager I think but she was just the worst. Not customer focused and listening to how she spoke to customers, I was surpised more clients did not leave. Fast forward to today. I was having problems with a tire on my SUV. They have one of the last free air pumps in the area so I went to inflate it. One of the technicians, Jeremy, came out to ask if I needed help so I started talking to him about how my tire defalted quickly overnight. He looked at it and found that I had run over a screw. He measured and the tires were in the 'yellow' for wear. I could have gotten away with a plug and rode on them for the summer and replaced them prior to winter, but the store manager William helped me choose a good set of tires that fit within my budget. They were able to get me in right then and there while I waited. The new workers are a complete 180 of what I had experienced last year when I decided to stop going there. After todays experience, they won me back. Thank you to both Jeremy and William for the help. read more

I've brought my car in before for oil changes or inspections. This was no different. My car needed inspection. The air in my tires was low and I asked they be filled. I am injured and have great difficulty getting low to the ground and explained that. Of course they weren't filled. It took 2 hours to inspect a 2021 and my car stinks like cigarettes so bad, it's triggering a migraine and I'm driving with the windows down in a blizzard. We installed 2 new tires in January, only to have one blow out in March. Service for this issue was arranged through the Watertown/Arsenal Street store where we purchased the tires and was very good (thank you Dustin!) But unfortunately, as the blow out happened near the Mavis Cicero location, I had to route through the same "Sonny" that's mentioned with distain in other reviews for Mavis. He wanted nothing to do with helping us, said it was "watertown's problem" (even though this is a chain?), and was extremely rude and condescending. Ultimately, 2 other mechanic shops told us the rear springs had nothing to do with the visible tire wear on the front that Sonny spent way too much time loudly 'Man-Splaining' to my daughter as the cause of the wear. That he's a manager is shocking, but what makes it even worse is that he's teaching his bullying, intimidating style of customer dis-service to his workers too. They were chirping and piling on, enjoying the show the whole time. I'm embarassed she had to go through that, embarassed that this behavior allowed (encouraged?) in this store. I will not be back and would not recommend this shop -- especially if you're a woman. read more

Called about a inspection being done on my 2017 F150 was told by the scheduler that they could get it in at noon on Saturday. Arrived at noon was then told it would be a couple hours and that they didn''t have me in the computer, told the guy I just off the phone with the guy 1hr ago. I said fine I''ll leave the truck called back couple hours later to check on it. they had not touched it. I had my daughtger take me to get it, I complianed to the manager he said they would get it right in so I waited,they finally got it inspected 1 hour later after they charged me $20 a piece for wiper blades the people there are unfriendly and ignore you unless you press them to help you. What an awful place. First, I scheduled an appointment days ago. When I came in today, the guy said there was nothing was in the system. I sat there with my son, who wasn't feeling well and actually threw up, for 2 hours. At the end, they told me that my rim is too old and the air keeps leaking. I went to my car and saw my center cap was missing. I asked why it was missing and the guy (the manager?) answered that the cap was inside my cup holder and that it was 'old' and they couldn't put it back in. Upon the inspection of the cap I saw that it was broken off. I asked the guy what it was all about and he said, 'good bye mam, please leave!' So they broke the cap, and thought I won't see it until I'm out of their shop. I get mistakes happen, but please be honest about it. But hiding it like a 3 year old from a parent is just laughable. And then being super rude to me?! Most likely they never even tried fixing the rim and lied about it as well. I see no black stuff that usually they put to seal the tire. I couldn't monitor them because had to pay attention to my son. Not cool. Taking an advantage of a lady with a young child. Not cool. Will never come back here and will never recommend anyone this awful place. read more

Brought my car for a NYS inspection (I usually go to Valvoline where I am in and out in 30 minutes, but their machine is down). After about an hour I noticed my car was parked outside, but I figured they were doing something else with it so I kept waiting. After another 15 minutes I finally went to the desk and the person behind the counter said I was all set and told me it was $21.00. After getting to my car I noticed there was no sticker on the car. I went back in and asked where the sticker was and was then told it failed and I needed a new exhaust system despite NOT HAVING ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. They then told me they couldn't get the parts for it and to bring it to a dealership and moved on to the next person. My issue is not the fact that it failed inspection (although after following their advice and bringing it to the dealership it passed without any repairs), my issue is the fact that nobody gave me any indication the car failed until I saw no sticker on the car. To quote "A Bronx Tale" it only cost me $21 to realize how bad Mavis is "I got off cheap". I have never written a review in my life, and often times make fun of people that do, however the service they provided me warranted me wasting another 10 minutes of my life typing this up. Also don't be afraid to turn the heat on in the building, customers shouldn't have to go outside in November to warm up. read more

Where to start with these guys!!?? Came in to have tires put on...they found I needed a new hub on the truck and in the process of all of this, they rounded off the majority of my lug nuts and knocked off my tire pressure sensor. Brakes were the next issue, after half-assed install of the new hub, I was asked "do your brakes usually go to the floor"? Seeing they drove it into the bay with brakes should have Indicated this was a stupid question...I was moving out of state the next day and didn't have time for these idiots to monkey around with the vehicle so everything was cobbed back together and low and behold when one of the tires blew, I couldn't get the rounded off nuts off and had to call a tow truck who couldn't even get them off. Enough wasted time even mentioning this business...STAY AWAY!!! read more

I was told if I get there by noon they could inspect my truck. got there by 11:00 after waiting about 2 hours I ask if it's gonna be a while I can get picked up. he says that would be good. No call all day from them. I go to pick it up at closing time and it never moved from the parking lot. It's a inspection on a brand new truck. I have bought all my tires here since moving to Cicero 2 years ago. Good prices, wide selection and fast service. They have always worked to keep my bill as low as possible. No pressure, but still very knowledgable. Also had women tell me that they feel comfortable with the staff here and feel they are treated as equals to the male customers. I really appreciate that they have an external air pump installed for 24 hr access, nice thing is that it has a digital readout that "dings" when you reach you preset pressure. For the second time my "repair" at mavis was not done properly and I find myself wasting MORE time waiting. Last time it was an alignment, this time it's my new muffler and tailpipe I had installed a few weeks ago. The thing rattled badly from the time I pulled out of their lot. It now makes more noise than the bad muffler I had before! Every time the car idles it rattles loudly sounding like a jalopy. Today I'm taking time off from work to sit here so they can repair their poor repair. Unacceptable. I'll give them another 20 minutes or so before I ask for my keys back and PAY for someone else to fix their shoddy work. I recommend you go somewhere else. .... UPDATE: I did end up leaving that day, with my brand new muffler and pipes rattling.   I called and the person I spoke with said if I bring it in around 8 AM they could get me right in. I Couldnt get there until 8:24, I give Dashawn my key, explained the issue, and received no acknowledgement that this shouldnt happen. I sat in the waiting area for an hour and a half, until I had to go back to work.  While I waited, I called the North Syracuse location and the manager Pat let me know they were backed up, but it should be a very easy fix, that should have been done properly the first time. He actually apologized that it hadn't , when indeed, it wasnt even his location that performed the shoddy work! I let Deshawn know I couldnt wait any longer, and he got my key, held it up and ropped it into my hand. Not a word. No "Sorry for the delay"... No "We appreciate your patience but...", nothing. He dropped the key from above my hand rather than handing it to me, and turned his back on me. By FAR the worst service I've ever received. I've spend probably thousands of dollars with Mavis, and the last 3 experieces were just awful, this being the worst.  When I left I called to see if a manager was available, and it turned out, Dashawn WAS the acting manager (absurd). He told me his manager wouldnt be in until tomorrow, and refused to give me his full name.  So now I'll have to take MORE time off, go to Firestone, or Monroe, or somewhere else and PAY to have them repair the shoddy work from Mavis. read more

While they were great at quickly switching out our winter tires, they really did not hold up when it came to service. I brought my CR-V in to have the alignment checked and they told me I had a "broken rear arm". I said okay and they said they were going to order the part to replace, again I said okay (expect about 5-7 days for delivery). After not hearing anything for a week I call back and ask if the part had come in. This is when they inform me that the part is on back order and it will take up to 2 was to receive. Skip forward to 2 weeks later (mind you my car has been at the shop this entire time) I call to check on the part. "Oh, we can't get the part...it must be one that only the dealerships can get". WHAT?! Thanks for not communicating with me AT ALL! At this point I took my car to the dealership...they couldn't find ANYTHING wrong and called me multiple times trying to figure out what the Mavis guys were talking about! TLDR: great for switching out tires/cheap tire purchase; awful for actual maintenance. read more

This place is a joke, was told over the phone that we could drop of my vehicle with no appointment and they would call after it was done. Fine we drop the car at 9am this morning we get told nope by man named Conner we don't do drop offs, we are busy today. Like no we called yesterday and were told specifically that you do if that were the case we would have made an appointment. He says fine but it won't be started till 3. Which was fine bcuz I was working and figured we could pick it back up after work. We called multiple time to get updates we were put on hold and hung up on all day so here it is 5pm closing time we call AGAIN just to be put on hold again and told that it wasn't done. YOU HAD MY CAR ALL DAY, got some bs excuses saying that we were told it wouldn't get done today if that were the case WHY WOULD we leave it there and not go some where else ? Watch out, I have had problems with them since I had my new tires installed. My tires are currently wearing, and the manager said it is because you declined the alignment. Full of BS, they performed an alignment check, and informed me that my car did not need an alignment, and I did not notice, at the bottom of the receipt, they wrote in declined alignment, very shady. I recently needed a slow leaking tire repaired, under warranty, the fixed the tire, and 3 weeks later, I notice that the valve stem had a chunk of metal missing from that same tire. I was not able to inflate it. Also, they informed me that I needed rear brakes when they were only 2 weeks old, scammers. When I returned for the valve stem repair, I had to wait 2 hours because they had to order the special Mazda valve stem. Wow, no wonder why the technician broke my valve stem and did not replace it, is this obvious to you? When my tire warranty ends, I will never go back there. Do they believe that all of us consumers are that dumb? Do yourself a favor, buy your tires from a reputable shop. read more

Where do I start. The pros: they beat a tire price from a competitor by $15 a tire. Cons: took an extra day longer than delivery date I was told about (not a big deal). But when I called before arriving on the day I was told the tires would be in it took 2 phone calls and 15 min on hold!!!!! I was transferred at least 2 times per call and just put on hold without being told so there just iwas a silent pause for 5-10 min not knowing what happened. Very irritating. Reason for 2 calls? I was hung up on while on hold after 8 min the first call. Wow. When I called to confirm the tires were in I was told it'd be best to make an appointment so I did. Didn't make other transport plans because he said its be 1 1/2 hrs. I arrived and said its be nearly 4 hours!!!! And they "don't do appointments." Not to mention the desk guy treated nearly everyone like they had no idea about anything vehicle related and demeaning. Another, wow. The money saved did not pay for the irritation, waste of my day, and inferior service. Use Mavis at your own risk- at least not this location. read more
