I brought my car in because the brakes sounded terrible. Mavis told me that my brakes were not only fine, but actually had a few years left on them. If I could leave them zero stars I would. I usually brought my car to the dealership for service, but since my 100k warrantee expired I decided to take it here in an attempt to save some money. After telling me I needed roughly $1,500.00 worth of work on my car (which included brake and tire work), I trusted them to do it properly and to not have any further issues. I purchased the $25.00 warrantee on the tires should something happen. Less than 24 hours later my car sounded like the Titanic hitting an iceberg and every warning light regarding my tires and brakes came on. The car was no longer physically drivable and the brakes were essentially non-effective. It had to be towed back to this location to (in theory) fix whatever error they caused. The new problem involved "malfunctioning springs" that they claimed to have missed on the previous day and they claimed it could have happened at any time (however it is oddly coincidental that it happened less than 24 hours after their technicians "worked" on it) and would cost me an additional $385.00. I have now given them ~$1,885.00 to fix a host of issues that the dealership service center somehow missed at my last 10,000 mile oil change less than 3 months prior. It has not even been a month since they did all of this and this past week one of the new tires they installed on the car burst when hitting a pothole. While getting the tire changed by AAA I was told that one of the lug nuts was put on improperly by them (it was basically snapped off) so now I might have to get the entire rim replaced as well. I had the car brought back to this location only because I had the warrantee (otherwise I would not have dealt with them) only to find out that the employee who rang me up at the register did not implement it. So getting a new tire (that was just replaced a month ago) cost me an additional $150.00. I have never had so many problems with my car after getting it serviced and this is all in the span of less than a month. I have now had issues costing me $2,035.00 that are happening far too frequently together to be coincidental. Upon picking my car up, they were not able to give me my car keys (because they lost them...) and when I returned home I found that they had lazily thrown my spare tire into the trunk of my car rather than taking the whole 1 minute to put it back in its compartment properly. Every time I have been in there (which thanks to them has been a lot) I have always seen another customer complaining about the ineffective work, poor scheduling, or a low quality of work and I can easily see why. I hope this is not reflective of the service provided at other Mavis locations, however as far as this one is concerned it is poorly managed, staffed by technicians performing less than low quality work (if it was at least low quality, it would probably be a step up for them), and provides an overall service that they should be embarrassed of. read more

Normally get my oil changed at the STS in Brodheadsville, PA, close to home. They charge me about $26. Had my girlfriend take our car here and they charged $38. Sounds like a scam job to me. read more

I had a flat tire and could not get the tire off the car. After having my car towed to Mavis discount tire in Clinton, NJ The customer service representative informed me that they would try to repair the flat before the end of the day, but they had many cars in line in front of me. I left my car at the center and was called within 45 minutes that my car was ready. This discount tire center does a phenomenal job at customer service, repairs, and putting the customer the head of all else. Thank you so much for a great experience in auto repair! Brought my car there to have 4 tires installed. Once the work began, the manager (Matt) told me they would have to replace two of my TPMS sensors in order to remove the wheels. He said "I would be able to get air in, but cant get it out." With that being said, there was no option for me to have the wheels installed without getting new TPMS sensors. He told me they were 89.99 each plus 24.99 to install. I thought that was rather expensive but seeing as I had no option, I told him ok. After the work was done, I went on to Mavis.com and couldn't even find the TPMS sensor price or what brand was even used. I decided to look further and found that sensors go for 25-40.00 for aftermarket and 40-60 for OEM. I tried calling to tell them that they ripped me off and Matt wouldn't hear it and said "theres nothing I can do and I don't have time for this. The work is already done" I told Matt the exact OEM part number and he even saw that brand new it was 45.30 for ONE!!! He told me "You should have went to toyota and not came here, I have customers waiting so I cant talk about this". This is the piss poor customer service that Mavis of Clinton, NJ offers. Im a repeat customer of Mavis over 10+ years in north Jersey and never experienced a rip off or poor customer service like this before. Im so disgusted that I actually lost sleep over this. I tried calling corporate to report this rip off and they still haven't called back. Toyota would have charged 104.93 for the sensors and install and Mavis charged 229.90. Mavis if you are listening, Invoice 332-374036. Your location is ripping customers off and you're allowing it. Shame on you!!! This is going to get blown up all over social media. read more

I went to Clinton location because of the trust I had built with the former STS. I had a clunk that I wanted them to look at. They said I needed struts. Since the car was 10 years old I figured it was about time for them and told them to go ahead. $1600 later and I had a clunk that was worse. They "compressed the struts" and the clunk was back to normal but I now had dents on top of my fender from them bouncing the car when they compressed the struts. I brought it back and they replaced a stabilizer link. After 4 trips and many "upsells" I was no better off The mechanic told me that an animal had put a nut in the hood body and that that was the clunk. Talk about insulting my intelligence. They are pretty good with lip service that is all. Never going back and will un-recommend them to anyone I know. read more

I have been a long time customer back when they were STS. I recently picked up a nail in my rear tire and brought it in to be plugged. I got a call from a woman and she said the tire cannot be plugged. To add insult to injury, she said she could not replace just one rear tire and would need to replace both. This was after she confirmed 6mm of tread left on each. She quoted "$1,200 plus installation." I said no, and she said I desperately needed an oil change. I authorized the oil change over the phone. When i picked up my car, I was shocked to hear it was $100 for an oil change. I was even more shocked to see that my "oil change required" indicator was still lit. I truly doubt they changed my oil, but who knows. I called the tire manufacturer and was referred to another dealer. He charged me $35 to plug the tire, rotation, and top off air pressure. The fix is guaranteed not to fail and it has been two weeks with no loss of pressure. Mavis will suck the blood out of you like a vampire. Stay away! read more

Just spent over $800 for a rear brake job on my dodge 2500. at the Mt Pocono Location within 4 weeks brakes are squealing like crazy. Im in NJ when it happens so I bring to a mechanic I know here. He says new brake pads are inferior and are not the right ones for that truck. I call Mavis. mgr not helpful and must have some stomach issues as he is in bathroom almost every time I call. was put on hold and told he was in bathroom for 1/2 hour finally hung up( poor guy probably upset about the poor quality of parts shop uses) called regional office and mgr finally called back. offered me a free oil change! are they kidding! I had pads replaced in NJ as I would not go back to a place that uses poor quality parts and charges you a premium. read more

Went to get a slow leak/bent rim looked at (17 inch rim with low profile tire). I was expecting they recommend a replacement wheel, but they were able to fix it. Very honest staff compared to many other shops out there. I will take my car there again next time I need service. read more

Okay so I have had work done at this store before and was very satisfied the first time, it was a simple patch on the tire. This time, however there were a slew of issues. So I call in yesterday to get a price quote on a set of 4 tires and the guy over the phone said he could get it done in under 300 including the install and balancing, hence I agreed. I came in today at 12 and they gave me a different price quote $150 higher in fact!!!! I agreed because I just wanted the work done at that point, I agreed to the alignment which is usually included when new tires are installed.... but they charge an extra $85. After I agree to that I also let him know that I need a new lightbulb which is cool. I get a call from the shop and they tell me I need new brake pads, and struts? I had an oil change done not too long ago and they told me that my brake pads were fine, on top of everything I ask the guy how long it would be in order to pick up the car because I need to get to work in the morning, he said 20 minutes, this was nearing 6:00 pm. I show up around 6:25 and they're closed..... WTF. So here I am without a car and I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. read more

Terrible customer service, poor communication, and lack of customer satisfaction expectancy. I called the morning of to see if they had time for a simple oil change, and was not looking to drop it off. "Yeah, it's slow, we can see you now." Literally showed up 10 minutes after, explained I was the one that just called and needed an oil change now since they assured me it wouldn't take long. "If it's alright, I'm going to just walk my dogs. Hopefully that's enough time for you guys to see my car". "Sure, we'll give you a call when it's ready". An hour later, I come back to see my car's still parked where I left it. "Hi, my car's still not serviced? I was gone for an hour". "Oh, you're coming up right now." After another 20 minutes, I asked for my keys back. "Hi, clearly you didn't have enough time for an oil change. I called ahead to see if you guys had time; waiting an hour and 20 minutes means you didn't have time". "Oh, I thought you were dropping it off". "No.... when did I say that? You just assumed I would call and rush over to wait an hour and 20 minutes to have my car waiting in your parking lot???" No answer, no apologies, no f*cks given. read more
