I went to Mavis to check on a slow leak that I had and also to bleed my brakes. They told me that I needed new brakes soon and that I should wait to bleed the brakes when I do the brake change.So they showed me the tire submerged in water no leak. so I went home and after 24 hours the tire lost air. I took it back and they did the same process no leaks. so they went and removed the tire and sealed it and put a new air stem all free of charge. now the tire is fine thanks, Mavis, oh and they also rotated my tires at no cost the first time. read more

This place is the definition of a highway robbery. got my tire replaced 2 weeks ago. i'm driving and see the same tire is flat, great. The wire is showering, it's not a pop or nothing. I call them, the woman on the phone says in the system that the tire that's flat was the one they replaced, great. So I head to the store and they have a completely different story now. They are showing me on the computer that it was now a front tire that they replaced when I clearly got a flat in my back tire. I didn't know which one i got replaced in the back, but I knew it was a back, and she is now saying it's a front. They showed no care when this occurred and the guy in there tried talking to me like I was 12 years old and i was just completely wrong, completely unprofessional. They lost 5 customers this day. I highly do not recommend this place. Over 1,800 for 2 tires because they added unauthorized worked. Took the car back for supposedly a bad plug in the new tire which was never plugged in the 1st place. Asked them to only repair old tire. Stopped here to get the tires replaced on my wife's car. Prior to this visit one of her tires had a big gash in it and I told them I wanted this tire back. The regular manager was out on this day, I get a call two hours later telling me the back brakes were very low and needed to be replaced. We had the car at the dealer not more than 2 months ago and they replaced the front brakes and said back brakes were fine. I should have known better, should have went to see for myself but issue at work precluded. Not a happy camper. Go to pick car up a few hours later, where is my tire with the gash that I told them I wanted back. Looked every where, I even looked too, no where to be found?? Not a happy camper. Few weeks go by, wife gets a flat. car has run flat tires, drive over and leave car. Go to pick tire up and manager tells me the wheel lock was ruined and they couldn't remove the tire so they plugged it. He shows me wheel lock and inside all chewed up. So clearly whoever just did the tires on my wife's car a few weeks back is the person who ruined the wheel lock. I've worked on cars most of my life and either the person didn't have the impact gun completely into the lock, or the pressure was too high. Will never ever stop again at a Mavis. I started coming here about 2 years ago and was originally very impressed with the service and prices. I was lured in by promises that they would "annihilate" competitors prices. Which they did, however....cheap is expensive. My $300 tires were worn bald within a year and a half. Mavis refused to honor any warranty on them, but after several phone calls, the regional manager offered me a free alignment. I brought the car in and got my free alignment (my car feels like it drifts MORE now then it did before). After it was done, I went out to the car, I noticed my hubcaps were scratched and bent. I let the store manager, Kevin, know, and he sheepishly admitted that "sometimes when they take the hubcaps off to do the alignment that can happen". Keep in mind these are the original $100 a piece hubcaps the car came with. It took a MONTH of arguing with corporate, a complaint with consumer affairs, a claim with BBB, and threats of small claim court for them to finally replace the hubcaps. The first time I get a call the hubcaps are in. I go to the store to pick them up. One guy at the register seems like he's keeping me distracted while 2 other mechanics sneak out to my car and start pulling off my damaged hubcaps....and replacing them with used scratched hubcaps. I told them this was not acceptable and to put the old ones back on the car (which were now even more damaged and warped since these guys were using crowbars to sneak these on before I noticed). Another 2 weeks later, and I finally got "new" hubcaps. I'm not 100% sure that these aren't "replica" hubcaps or "refurbished" (they're certainly not brand new authentic), but I'm just so tired of arguing at this point I'm just going to cut my losses and count this has a very expensive lesson learned. I'd say "well, they're good enough just for a cheap oil change", but when we brought our other car in for an oil change, they cracked the oil pan. (Which was repaired with minimal complaints, but only after my regular mechanic intervened). No part of my recent experiences has been pleasant. The corporate office (read: call center) is filled with nasty, burned out customer service reps who couldn't give less of a damn about the customers if they tried. Upper management was rude and dismissive "they're JUST hubcaps!", and the store staff just wants me out of their hair, which at this point, I don't blame them. Unfortunately, being argumentative and unwavering was the only way I was to have my sh-t replaced, and I'm well aware that I was only "compensated" to get me to go away. read more

After reading the other 1 star reviews I see my experience was not unusual. In a nutshell I picked out tires in advance, made an appointment, showed up, agreed to the up charge for an alignment. 3 hours later my cell rings & the guy tells me they won't have my tires until tomorrow & he won't honor price for tires he does have. Here's where I'm stumped- why did they let me drop my car off if they didn't have the tires? I wasted my day off with this nonsense & now I have to spend another day getting new tires someplace else. UPDATE: The manager Jessica called me and was lovely. She tried very hard to make this right but I had already taken my tire business elsewhere. I appreciate that she listened patiently while I ranted and tried to resolve my issues. I hope in the future customers are treated like they are important, even if the manager has the day off. read more

I called this business on Saturday right before closing. I needed 4 tires for my Toyota I was quoted a reasonable price for 4 tires installed. I asked if I could come Sunday morning. I was told yes. No problem. It seemed to good to be true. Sunday I brought the truck as I said. No issue. Was called a half hour later The employee recommended a wheel alignment. I said ok. Even though it should have been explained prior. But I said sure. Three hours later. They told me they don't have the tires. But they do have much more expensive ones. I said they should honor the quote. I was told NO. And that was it. No new tires and a wasted day. And garbage service. And a classic BAIT and SWITCH. Gross. read more

My wife's new Genesis blew out a Michelin Tire right in front of a Mavis dealer (Edison, NJ), so she pulled in. They didn't have the special tire she needed but actually stayed open late to help her make the arrangements to get the proper tire and later install it. After the install we had to deal with Michelin to get warranty credit for the tire. Michelin needs a tire inspection in order to honor any warranty and they even require that they speak with the tire service manager. Ernesto and Leo at the Lawrenceville office were so patient and helpful. Leo spent over 10 minutes on the phone giving the details to Michelin. I offered to pay for Leo's help but he refused. They have gained a new customer from this great experience. read more

Where do I start... I used to really trust this place!! & now I realize they are just a rip off!!! Deserves no stars!!! I have had to get my brakes done 3 times in the last 3 years and driving less than 10,000 miles. The guy I spoke to tried to tell me i drove over the 12k miles but heres the issue they left their paperwork in the car and THAT WAS A LIE! I only drive locally and the farthest is EWR. I drove 7,000 miles since last brakes and here we are. They offer these warranties because they know you'll be back Took it to get looked at and was told I needed brakes AGAIN!! They are cheating people with cheap parts and poor quality!! I will never recommend them again and I hope corporate reviews this location!! Service on my vehicle was done incorrectly, setting in the system were for wrong type of vehicle. Had it done twice in 1 day and still incorrect. Had to go to dealership to fix so my vehicle wouldn't get worn out parts. Only reason I gave 2 stars was it wasn't that much push back for a refund. read more

Yesterday I dropped off my car to Mavis on Rt9 North in Old Bridge. My car needed to stay there. This morning they call to say my car is done. When I get into my car the seat was in the lying down position. As I fixed it I noticed the miles--someone had driven my car nearly 250 miles. My gas tank was on full when I bought it in to them & now nearly empty. I was furious. I got home & noticed that someone at Mavis also hit my car. Police & attorney have been notified. I was a little reluctant to get tires here after seeing the reviews on yelp but I'd figure I would give it a try. Scheduled appt for 4 and when I called to find out how long it would take because I knew I'd be waiting, I was told 20 minutes. That was fine. I get there and was told it would be 1-1 1/2 hours. I went here for new tires and they were put on "to manufacture spec" and checked a few days later. a few days after that all the lugs fell off and they refused to admit it was their fault then she needed to pay for new lugs which they refused to pay for then gave her a "credit" toward new tires in the future or anything else to be done their in the future. 2 days ago I got new aftermarket wheels to be put on to my truck and called and asked if they could switch them for me and use my "credit" they said sure so i brought them and they looked at them and said "oh these are aftermarket" we can't balance these out machine is "old" and i said but you knew they were aftermarket and they refused to take them and put them. don't go here if you want your wheels to stay on read more

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Put my directional tires on inside out.... Broke my wheel lock key....Scratched up my wheels.....on the inner and outter of my rims...Didn't properly do alignment ... car now pulls to the right ... lied to me about "we'll replace your new tires and honor our mess up".... 2 months with on going issues with tire leaks... $450 each tire !!! Doesn't deserve one star I have been coming to this location since the STS days. Work is around the corner. We also send employees here. Don't waste your time trying to make an appointment. I did to no avail. I asked for the oil change. Specifically asked for the tires to be checked and rotated. Got home and the car shows, each tire at a different reading, 25, 28, 31 and 35. REALLY? I am given a receipt, the 2nd copy, that's not legible. Counter guy says sorry, am unable to re print. BOGUS. Now i wonder if the oil was even changed? The car was ready in under 2 hours, when i got the call. Anyone can reset the oil change light. I should have been nervous when the counter guy says we don't have your oil filter in stock, but we can get it. He gets a filter and then does the work in under 2 hours, but the tires were not checked???? So was my oil changed, did they rotate the tires, did they have a new filter and who knows what the $110 charge was for???? read more

First I got a quote for two tires , with a out the door price. Great I told them I'll drop off the car 8am tomorrow. Then at 8:33am they tell me I need a wheel alignment and I should change the brake fluid because it's dirty. Lol I needed neither . Please just change the tires. Stop by at 5:15pm only to find out they didn't replace the tires yet. " oh they just came in." I called on a Monday to see if they had a replacement tire for my car because I purchased tires there and the roadside assistance. They said they would have a replacement tire till Wednesday that I could leave my car Tuesday night or drop it off in the morning to ensure I got my car back the same day. Wednesday comes around I drop my car off and hear nothing from them all day before they close I call and they reply oh it seems we didn't get the tire we promised would be here on Wednesday so you will have to wait till tomorrow. Thursday morning I call, still waiting for the tire. Now aggravated my fiancé calls and they tell him they don't have a the tire. While my fiancé is on the phone I'm in the background screaming how they said all this and the guy turns around and says oh we do have the tire give us 30 minutes. This is not the first time I have had a problem with them one time I had a slow leak they said they would take care of it and I had to go back 4 more times before they finally replaced the tire. I'm not sure about the other mavis's in the area but I can assure this is one you want to avoid. Not helpful, nasty, liars, just all around not a good shop they have running. read more

Update (28 April, 2022): This is a follow up to my review of the Mavis Discount Tire store in East Brunswick, NJ, posted yesterday. I was contacted by Mavis' area manager within hours after my review. He was very sensitive to my concerns, and promised to take corrective actions in improving the customer service experience at the above store, and invited me to pay another visit to the store. He took pains to convince me that my negative experience was an anomaly and that I should continue to entrust Mavis with my auto service needs. While I have no immediate needs to visit a Mavis store (I had already taken care of my tire issue elsewhere, before the call), I appreciate the above prompt steps taken by Mavis Management. As is evident, they are very careful to address the concerns of individual customers, and take pride in retaining customer loyalty. For these reasons I am changing my original rating to the above 5* rating. As a side note, upon rebalancing my tires (elsewhere), the original steering shake and tire noise disappeared completely, assuring that my tires purchased at Mavis are indeed solid! --------------------------------------- My earlier review (with 1* rating) dated 27 April, 2022: I just had the worst experience, ever, over all the numerous instances of tire purchase and servicing, for multiple vehicles of mine over the years. This review is specific to the Mavis franchise in East Brunswick, NJ (Store 301). I don't have experience with any other Mavis stores, so cannot generalize to the company itself. I had purchased a set of tires (80K tread warranty) for my SUV here a little over a year ago (and another set for my other car, later). Due to Covid lockdown I had not driven much, and had accumulated only about 8K miles on these tires. The tires seemed much noisier than the ones I replaced from the get go. However I assumed that the new set of tires was just noisier, and I had to live with it. I recently drove the car on the freeway for the first time since the tire purchase, when I noticed a strong steering shake. I then also realized that the noise was not constant, rather it was rhythmic with the steering shake. I took it back to the above store. The lady who is mostly there (not sure if she is the franchise owner or an employee) mentioned that my tires needed rebalancing and they would charge me $128 for that. Even if I were to pay for this, I knew that the quoted rate was way higher than at other places. Though I knew they might or might not agree to do it for free, I tried to explain my full set of observations (very clearly, the original workmanship was poor in the first place), she was just plain unwilling even to listen, and argued back that I had already added too many miles on a set of tires with only "50K" tread warranty). This is incorrect, I only have 8K miles over 80K warranty - verifiable. She then argued that I had not purchased their extended warranty so they had no responsibility whatsoever. And finally, to cap it all, she was arrogantly dismissive, saying she didn't want to waste her time listening to me....; Wow!!! Any way, I drove straight to another very reputed tire dealership on the same street, and they are just rebalancing my four tires for $55. Since I have an hour's wait here, I have the time to post this review, when the details are fresh in my mind. I'd recommend staying away from this place, at least from a "respect for the customer" perspective. I truly regret my decision of choosing this franchise as my primary go to place. This store is terrible! A few months ago they put all new tires on my car and literally 20 minutes after I left the TPMS light came on. So I brought the car back to them within 24 hours and they told me that the batteries were dead in the sensors on my back two tires and I would have to pay $90 to replace them. I didn't get them replaced because I wasn't paying $90 for something I felt wasn't true. Fast forward to today, I have a flat tire on the front passenger side. I go to a different Mavis and the guy tells me that after he fixes my slow leak I need to return to this Mavis because they broke the TPMS sensors (like I thought) and it essentially messed up the air valve and cause a slow leak. I called this location before I left to explain what was going on to the manager Sean. In the midst of me explaining the entire situation Sean kept cutting me off then I repeated what the other mechanic told me and he said that makes no sense. The mechanic had to get on the phone with him and tell him the same thing and they need to replace what they messed up. I get to the store, eventually they take my car and set it up. While they are in the middle of fixing my car they start yelling and screaming at each other (I have no idea why but it was very unprofessional). Once they finish with my car they said the sensor in my car should go off once I drive for a few miles. 30 miles later, the sensor is still on and my car is shaking once I go passed 60 & I just got my wheels balanced and aligned yesterday. I am disappointed in this place. Been there multiple to fix TPS they just can't do it or they don't want to. Brought a car in that had a bubble on the sidewall. I bought the "extra warranty" when I bought the tires originally. Still cost me close to $100 for 1 tire. What's the point buying the extra warranty?! read more
