I went for the first time to Mavis to have my car serviced. I was greeted by Dean who proceeded in processing what I needed to be done. pointing out a few things that I needed besides what I thought, My wait time was reasonable for the work that needed to be done. I never thought having my car service would actually relax me from the way I was greeted to the time I left I had nothing but trust in everyone there. i'm glad I found this place and will definitely be back for car service. I scheduled an appointment for rear brakes and also requested a brake fluid flush. The quality of the work was fantastic. All of the work was done in an efficient and satisfactory manner. The price was very good. I had an idea of what it may cost but what I was charged was far better than I expected. I would to like to say this will be last time I will be visiting this particular Mavis store. Staffs in this store are dishonest & they are not professional, including the manager. I pretty much spend 11 to 5 to install 4 tires with an appointment. First of all, I went all the way from Brooklyn to this store in NJ to have better service experience where I paid $28 tolls out of my pocket. When I placed the order over the phone it's more than placing order online. But that didn't bother me that much but what really made me upset about is their staffs are dishonest. While they were installing my Tires, mechanic came to me & told me oh you have one TPMS missing one of the tire. I was like it's impossible. Then he was trying to show show me it's not there. Then he made me buy one. Then while he was installing the 3 Tires, he broke the 2nd TPMS & told me oh you have another one missing. I was like it's impossible cause I didn't have no low tire pressure sign so how is it possible that they are missing. Next thing I see the 1st TPMS & 2nd one he broke it & was laying one side of the store. Then when I saw it & picked it up & show it to him, he started to tell me oh it's not from your tire & it's from some other tires. Then just to cover what they did, Manager started to scream at me & started to saying you have started to tell me oh you can't be here & you have to wait at the waiting room. I try to explain him that they broke my TPMS but he didn't wanted to hear it. Then they had my tire installed wrong & they had to do it again. Then they spend another 30 min to scan & reset the TPMS. Then once they were done with my install & alignment, I asked the mechanic where did he put the wheel locks & he just replied to me there wasn't any. Funny part then I gave him the car key, I handed him the wheel locks myself. So, I asked him, if they were any wheel lock then how did the manage to open the tires. Then I had to go back to shop where he work & find the lock which was just under a tire. So it shows how unreliable & unprofessional they are. While I went to pay, I happened to find out that the TPMS they sold me are more expensive then the original one. They were overcharging me & when I told the manager, he decided to give me 15% discount. Then when he was billing me he forgot to apply my discount of $140 for 4 tires & he was rushing me leave the store. I had to ask him 2x & then he decided to apply the discount. Then I was leaving the store, I happened to find out that they had my car mileage wrong. When I asked the manager to fix it, he was rude & said why they have wrong mileage. I had to explained when you billed it, you didn't upgrade it & he didn't wanted to change it & instead he said he can't do it & he has to call main office on Monday & he will get back to me. Bottom line, staffs in this place are unprofessional, dishonest & rude. They lost my trust & business. Probably, I will just stop doing business with Mavis completely after this & instead I will use Costco, which is much better service. read more

Took me in right away event though they were getting ready to close. It was just a tire plug but turned out I needed a new tire. The guy showed me the tire and explained why I needed a new one. It was quick and the price was reasonable. I can't speak for the other people who had bad experiences but I certainly will be going back. read more

Beware of upselling! You'll bring your car in for new tires and before you know it they will be calling you with an "update" on your vehicle which you didn't ask for. My 4 year old car failed the battery test, and I need new front and back breaks. Yet the car was just serviced by the dealer 6 months ago for rear breaks... No thank you, please just put the new tires on today, and when will the car be ready? "About 15 Minutes, were just finishing up" 2 hours later when picking the car up the alignment was never done and I still ended up waiting for the car to be finished up. Oh, and like others who have commented, the manager also offered a coupon for all the extra nonsense my car didn't need. Sadly next time I need any service on my car i will be driving out of the way to a new place. read more

Went to Mavis for 2 new tires the staff was courteous and friendly. There was a little bit of a wait but they told you that up front. The staff was very attentive about letting me know when my car would be ready. The office and bathroom were both very clean. I would highly recommend them. read more

I have been going to this location for over ten yrs. when it was STS. Never had an issue, and felt confident my auto care needs were met. Ever since the name changed to Mavis along with the new managerial staff, my confidence level has dwindled. I brought my car in for a simple oil change and tire rotation, I ended waiting over 3hrs, then the manager tells me I need to have my power steering fluid flushed, and new struts installed. It would cost me close to $400. He mentioned we could cut a deal for less. This left me with a very uncomfortable feeling. I brought my wife's car there for an oil change and tire rotation, once again, I waited over three hrs. I was told my wife's car is fine, however the brake fluid needs to be flushed. The price would be $79.99, the manager, however, says we could do it for $50.00. Hmmm?? Fooled me me once, and twice, will not happen again!! read more

I bought tires 2 yrs ago from Mavis, had no problems. Good service. This year go in to buy 2 front tires. They said they could find the key to unlock them. I made sure I had it. One of the guys went to AutoZone to buy the tool to take the lock off. He said it still didn't work. This was going on for 2 hours. They were standing around talking and 1 was outside smoking. The manager I guess said to go to Firestone ask them if they have the tool to get the lock off and come back. The 1 guy was kind of laughing and had a smirk on his face said sorry. I left went to Firestone explained the problem they gave me the same price. Had tires off and new one's on within an hour or so. Mavis being a tire place should have the tool to get the lock off. They really didn't seem like they want to put the work in to get it off. Mechanics that I told could not believe what happened.MAVIS being a TIRE service should be able to GET the TIRE OFF!!!!!!!!!!! I will never use this Mavis ever again....I tell everybody I know not to go there. They are horrible. Plus a lady who was there before they opened still her car was on the lift at 10 am when I left... What does that say???? read more

After my car started leaking oil, I drove to Mavis this morning to see if they could take a look at it. I didn't even have an appointment, but they gladly fit me in. Dont trust their words, youll get broken promises and flat out lies. Brought my car in for repair that they said they would do, and could do which was valve cover gaskets they neglected to take notice that the truck was overloaded with oil, they claimed they thoroughly checked it out, when time came they said my engine was dead yet they drove dead vehicle into their bay, said it was knocking burning black smoke, which it wasnt, Had them actually admit that they did not want to work on it, after the multiple lies I called them out on. They are not reliable, and just lazy work ethics. Which is sad cause I had them take care of my car before went in for new tires, they were nice not rude as they were this time, and they did the job that was asked of them no issues, now got totally lied to and sent away with no work done on my car, not even an apology or any helpful recommendations. Having a trustworthy mechanic is a must and we were very fortunate to frequent Joe and the others at the Fords STS over the last several years. They are always friendly and take care of you. They give great advice and are very honest with what repairs you need immediately and what can wait if you're short on money. I highly recommend this STS to friends, family, and pretty much anyone. They truly do everything in their power to provide superb service for you and your vehicles. We are moving out of NJ and will miss our STS. Hopefully there will be STS's where we are moving to continue our great relationship. If not I hope we can find another amazing group like the guys at the Fords STS. read more

Stop reading now and IMMEDIATELY start looking for another place to bring your car!! These guys are incompetent and a bit shady to be sure. I've been bringing newer cars here for years for oil changes, tire rotations, and breaks. But because mine and my wife's cars were newer never any real mechanical work. Then we bought our 17 year old daughter a used car First, the minute they get a used car in the shop they start with the "you need your break lines flushed" and the "your power steering fluid needs to be changed". If you go to glass door you will see how the Mavis employees themselves write that this is what they are supposed to do. Whether you need this service or not in this shop. JUST SAY NO!! You probably don't need it anyway. And both times it was one of the "managers" telling me that we needed this service. Yeah right... A/C isn't working so they charge it up for $159. A week later it's warm. Needs the o rings replaced they say. Okay let's do that for another $250. A week later, you guessed it the car is warm again. Oh it needs a new compressor now for $600. Okay let's do that. You starting to get the point now right? They keep not fixing it and charging us more and more money. Although to be fair they did give us "deals" on all of this work and after the first A/C charge didn't charge us for it when they had to do it again and again. lololol Okay so now the A/C is fixed. The very next day the car just dies as my daughter is sitting in it. THE VERY NEXT DAY!! They tell me now I need a new alternator for $500. I ask "hey does this have anything to do with the fact that you had to move the alternator to work on the compressor?" OH NO THEY TELL ME!! Yeah, of course not. Just bad timing. As I write this I have come to believe that they broke the alternator in the first place. Then they tell me "and for this money we are giving you a BRAND NEW alternator not rebuilt." Yeah right.... But wait it actually now gets worse!! They "fix" the alternator and we drive away. THE VERY NEXT DAY the car dies again as my 17 year old daughter is driving it. Right in the middle of the street. Bring it back and they tell me it's a connector to the alternator that they broke during installation. You're kidding me right? And now they can't find that part and they keep the car for FOUR DAYS as they look for it!!! Finally get the car back and, you guessed it, THE VERY NEXT DAY the car dies again. This time while my 17 year old is driving on the GSP!! This time I bring it to a REAL mechanic. He tells me the alternator is after market and cheap (of course) and then he tells me that they NEVER CHANGED the connector pig tail part that they broke and actually taped it together and shoved it back in hoping that it would work. They did this KNOWING that a 17 year old would be driving this car and what they had already put us through and after keeping the car for four days while looking for a "new " part, I haven't been this angry in years and cannot believe that this is even a real business at this point. How dare they put my daughter at risk like this!! I had to get a new alternator and connector and get the job done right. Of course since then, about 2 weeks now, the car is running fine. These guys have no idea what they are doing.The Managers while seemingly nice have no real idea what they or the mechanics are doing. Full disclosure: I did call Mavis customer service and spoke with a rep. I also contacted the Regional Manager and they did give me the $480 back that I was charged for the alternator fiasco so full points to corporate for doing the right thing. Although in speaking with our mechanic and a few others it has become apparent that they broke that connector to the alternator while changing the A/C compressor and that blew out the alternator. So they really owe me another $400 that I will never see. I mean this all started the very next day after they changed the compressor. Come on, knowing what we know about them now their is no way anyone can really believe that it was all a coincidence. So we can see from the 3 one star reviews here in the past two months that since STS changed to Mavis and the current Manager team was installed in this shop that things are going down hill quickly. Save for the one five star review here and suspiciously in this review the shop never told her that she needed her brake fluid flushed. Tariq the "manager" must not have been there on this day, Seems this is his specialty. Scamming folks out of money for flushing that they don't need. But he'll give you a "deal". lol People should be aware that this shop scams you and has terrible customer service and mechanics. And it seems corporate is going to continue to let them be and that's a shame. Before the current management team was installed this was a quality shop. Now it's just a joke. An expensive joke and if you bring your car here you are risking spending money on things you don't need. Not to mention mechanics who can't fix it read more

I usually go to a mechanic in Franklin township nj but due time constraints I went around the corner here to have an oil change done. I had been noticing the my brakes were feeling a little worn. I ended up needing just my front brakes done and the staff really helped me out. They did everything in a timely fashion and handled everything very professionally. These guys are a life saver! We (a few of us from a church) purchased a mini bus in upstate NY..only to have the breaks seize up on the NJ Turnpike. After visiting FIVE places, including another STS..this one was gracious to take us in..at 3-4PM on a Saturday. The manager was a saint and incredibly patient with us..as we were incredibly stressed out due to our deadline and itinerary crashing around us. We ended up having to leave the bus behind with the driver from the bus company (whole 'nother story) and rent a car, but they had the repairs done on the bus by noon the next day and back on the road. read more

I agree with the other reviewers, when they were bought out by mavis, the service went extremely bad. Techs dont know what they are doing, it takes so long to have snything done and the prices sky rocketed, i decided to sell my car because the cost of repair was not worth the money nor the stress of knowing, its going to cost more per year to keep my beloved CR V repaired and working than the cost of a new car per year. It's sad to lose a good car repair shop. PREVIOUS REVIEW OF STS: My husband and I bring our cars to STS, they are good, honest and they don't charge you for every little thing they touch in your car. I had one or 2 of my rotors repaired, the price was decent, and when my husband brought my car home, I noticed that maintenance light indicator on the dashboard was still on, I brought it back and they turned it off ASAP, no charge. Then my car seemed to have problems breaking and there was a rattling sound on idle, the mechanic said that there was just something loose, I may have hit a pothole and something got loose, they just had to pop the thing back, and they checked my breaks, they said everything was fine, my breaks just got dirty and dusty, they cleaned it and they didn't charge me a dime, I was so amazed, I was so worried how much it would cost to have my 10 year old CRV fixed, and I didn't even spend a penny. I had to buy the guys a pizza. They are very honest, you never see that in any other business these days, I would definitely recommend going to this place, they're a rare breed. read more

We like many other reviewers have been coming to this location for about 10 years. I used to love the service & completely trusted the mechanics that worked here. Since they changed over I have noticed a big change. Last time I brought my car in for an oil change that tried to convince me of about three things that needed to be flushed, one was my brake line. Little did they know two weeks prior I got all new brakes and rotors & the line was flushed, so I'll even let that slide. I spoke to them about my rear driver's side tire losing air. They assured me when I picked up the car that they took the tire off, inspected it, and found nothing. They said maybe it was the drastic change in temperature the last few days. My husband brought the car over to somewhere else & they showed him the huge nail that was in the tire, plugged it for 15 bucks and sent us on are way. There was no way they checked it.. I will not be going back, which is sad because like I said before this was our go to. They went over and beyond and I always felt my car was in the best hands.. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. They couldn't remove a spare from our brand new truck and fully damaged the whole truck bed. While attempting to remove the spare they man handled the truck shaking it wrecklessly and continued to do donuts in the front to remove it and when we asked what they were doing they proceeded to go to the back of the store (god knows what they did with it back there). The way they treated our car was awful and horrific to see. Upon asking for repair of the vehicle, they wanted to bring it to their sketchy body shop. After approval of the shop we wanted (from the regional manager) last minute (after we made the appointment and bought a rental car) they cancel saying they want to use the cheapest place they found. Still fighting with mavis customer service over this for a month now. I highly don't recommend this place unless you want the side of your car/truck to look like a bunch of golf balls were thrown at it. Biggest disappointment ever. DO NOT GO HERE! Deeply disappointed in this business I used them a few times when they were STS, and again after the switch to Mavis. Needed a tire patch, and they tried to up-sell a brake job. "90% worn and about to destroy the rotors". I doubt this as my brakes were pretty new. I had them checked by someone else. Nope they are fine. I called to complain and they insisted I "misunderstood" and it was my rear brakes. Then got those checked. Nope...also fine. Lies and more lies. read more

Just look elsewhere. Came here asking for QUOTE on a repair for my car which wasn't starting, that's it. Turned out I needed and new battery and some belts. My wife casually asked how much they charge for tires. Very casually. He adds in that I need brakes after inspecting the car. Okay well probably not today but we Will see. I really just need my car to start. They call and say over $650 and he just needs the "okay" ... for what? IN shop he said and I quote "$20-$30 per belt I'm gonna hook you up!" Then about $110 for battery. Even with labor that shouldn't come to half as much as the price he said. When I asked what he's charging me for he's saying battery and belts, which I asked for, then 2 new tires, brakes, brake system flush, etc. but I didn't ask for that?? When I said no I ONLY want my battery and belts done (I know a couple people who can do my brakes easy) he has an attitude and is clearly acting as if I cost him a ton of trouble for putting together such an awesome price for me. He says he needs the decision from my wife. Excuse me the car is mine.. I was standing WITH my wife when he was being all extra in the shop. I said just the necessities and I'll worry about the rest. He tells me now it's still about $400. What?? He quoted me a COMPLETELY different number in person. My uncle is a mechanic but has been sick recently or I would have asked him to do it. He calls them and tells them to stop bullshitting and the price magically falls over $100. Unfortunate they needed to hear it from another guy who knows what he's talking about. Anyway, I go and pay and get my receipt and what does it say? "Brake system flush $50". Are you kidding me?? How many times did I say no to any brake work? AND I get home around the corner and there's a loud ass squeaking noise all of a sudden. Less than a week later I go to a Mavis further up north and they take the belt off and put it back on and no squeaking. Unbelievable. Don't waste your time they will go out of their way to make it seem like they're giving you a GREAT deal! Two stars only because my car started obviously. read more

Stay away. Horrible service. Tried to charge me $90.00 for an oil change using my oil and filter that I already purchased, while every other STS in the area only charged me $20.00. Also tried to overcharge me for labor on a previous occasion. A few months ago I had gotten a flat tire and I drove into this shop at about 5 minutes before they were closing, and they refused to help me just said I was out of luck because they were about to close. And they told everyone waiting for oil changes they couldn't get the old filters out because they were put on wrong the last time. EVERYONE'S? Odd. The inside of my car roof was left filthy with greasy hand prints and it took phone calls, two visits, and more polite run around for them to finally have my car cleaned inside and out at their expense. I have been going to this shop for quite a while now for service on a 2008 Cadillac DTS. They have always been honest and accommodating. This last experience really proved that customer service is a priority for Brian and his crew. We had an issue with the power steering pump. I did not want to travel as it was very difficult to steer and they are located right up the road. We cam by on a Saturday and even though the shop was buzzing with activity, they managed to get us right in. The problem was a damaged hose and was fixed quickly. When we went to pay, we attempted to use our STS card. This was an emergency repair and not really budgeted for. Our card declined and it was late in the day on a Saturday. We used our bank debit card which was the only other card we had on us at the time. We asked if we could switch the payment to a "credit card" and Brian suggested we contact their corporate on Monday to see why our STS card declined (we had just checked the balance and had plenty of funds). As directed, I emailed the corporate office and they responded promptly. We were advised that we would be contacted by the local manager. Shortly after that, Brian called and had lined up a time to come by to charge our STS credit card and refund the charge to out debit. Once again I am amazed by the small business feel provided by this location. I will continue to bring several of my cars to Brian and his crew and will also be bringing my business vehicles in the future! read more

I have been to many mechanics in NJ, most I would never go back to. I was so relieved to find everyone here at STS in Fords, NJ. They treat you with respect and care and do not try and charge for unncessarily repairs. They have taken care of my car better than anyone could, and I feel blessed that we live so close to them.
