Asked for the most basic oil change and requested to use the $15 off coupon. It was scanned without any issue. The attendant was extremely efficient, polite, and professional. They pumped up my tires, did other vehicle checks, and showed me that the oil level was full via the oil stick. The whole process took less than 20 minutes. With the coupon, I ended up paying $73. I was asked if I wanted to check my fuel lines as they haven't been cleaned for over 12 months- a $99 addition. I politely rejected, but may be coming back for this, as the attendant said it extends vehicle life. They were so polite and helpful. Definitely will be returning to this spot. Thank you! PS. I visited for a routine oil change, but during the process, the associate lowered the hood support bar in a way that scratched the hood of my vehicle. Immediately after noticing the damage, I contacted Valvoline customer care. I was placed on a three-way call with the store manager, who--before even reviewing a single photo--dismissed the incident by saying it "sounded like a rock" caused the damage. After I submitted photos and went in person to speak with Matt, I physically demonstrated to him how the bar lined up exactly with the scratch. He acknowledged this at the time and told me he would follow up with quality control by the end of the day. Later, I received another three-way call with Matt and customer service, only to be told my claim was denied because video footage supposedly showed no damage. When I requested to see the video, I was refused. To make matters worse, Matt contradicted what we had just reviewed in person, suddenly claiming the bar did not match, despite my clear demonstration. This behavior came across as evasive and dishonest. My car is brand new, and I know every detail of it. The damage aligns exactly with the hood bar, and I also have supporting video evidence of my own showing this. Instead of being treated fairly, I have been dismissed, gaslit, and denied transparency in the review process. I went with my daughter today--she needed an oil change on her car and also, her headlight seemed very dim. We brought it here, and got in right away. The very friendly guy, Matthew I think it was, (who has a beard) said I'll take a look at the light, no problem--he took the bulb out and saw that the previous person had put it in wrong, so he put it back in correctly. I love this location of VIOC. I've been coming here for the past few years with my car and it's nice to see familiar faces every time I come in. There's never a long wait to get my car in for an oil change and the guys are efficient with keeping the cars moving if there was a line. They're good with explaining what's going on with your car, what to look out for and I love getting the report of what to expect to keep you on track what service to expect when your car reaches x-amount of miles. I will say they are very strong with selling their wipers and it's awkward every time I had to turn it down. But other than that, the staff here is great and I will keep coming back. read more

I don't like being strong armed into buying wiper blades or air filters at oil change places. I do all that myself, and no matter what I say to the associate, I get this look like they don't believe me. For that reason alone, I try to stay away from quick lube places like this. I have a mechanic I know and trust, and I like to give him my business. However, I know part of the job at quick lube stores is to try and upsell from just an oil change, so I go in prepared. I saw a LivingSocial deal for a cheap oil change and, knowing I was overdue, I begrudgingly went to Valvoline. First, the associates are all chatting with each other and there is no sense of urgency at all. My associate was basically wandering around the garage looking for whatever device he was going to use next, whether it be to check my tire pressure or show me my air filter. I waited patiently, watching the employees all step over one another to get the next gadget on their list. When all was said and done, they still charged me fees on top of the LivingSocial voucher. It's never easy, the whole 'quick' aspect of a quick lube place is just a straight out lie. I usually go to Jiffy Lube if I can't have my mechanic change my oil, but there were no current coupons at Jiffy Lube. So I took to LivingSocial and decided to give Valvoline a try. I suppose I am glad I gave them a try, because I know I will not be going back there ever again. Cross that one off the list, stick with what I know. read more

I needed an oil change in my 2018 Honda Accord. Went to Valvoline in Edison, NJ. Pretty expensive service. The full synthetic oil change cost me $70 even after a $15 coupon. (And does not even include some additional goodies like tire rotation) They charged me $43.99 for a new cabin filter, which I thought was quite on the higher side. The personnel there were very polite. No complaints about that. Service was quick too. The high cost put me off. The workers here are always really nice, and you can normally get in and out within 30 minutes. These types of places are always pricey but there's usually a coupon in your local mailer for at least $10 off so don't forget to bring it with you. Never go on a weekend, your best bet is middle-of-the-week mornings to avoid the line. They usually don't try to push me to buy services I don't need but I've found that they've sometimes overdramatized things with my car. I also notice that whenever I go (7th time now), they feel the need to explain how my car works and how oil changes work...how to turn my car off...what an engine is...I hope they say this with everybody and not because of my gender and/or perceived age but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt... read more

I was skeptical of this place at first, but thought it was worth a shot to give them a chance. I found a Groupon for $52 for full synthetic, which was a decent price. I came on my lunch break and it only took about 20-30 minutes in total. I sat in my car while they were doing it, which I thought was nice. That being said, it is definitely expensive if you don't have a coupon. I probably wouldn't go here and pay full price. As with most of these places, they try to upsell you and get you to buy other services. One thing I thought was cool was they tested my battery and gave me a receipt showing how much life it had left. Definitely useful and now I know I have to get a new battery. The manager, Matt, was the one who helped me out with my car. He was very friendly and welcoming and stated that if I had any questions to give him a call. I felt like he was trustworthy and honest, as well as being customer service oriented. All in all, it's a decent place. They told me that the place I went to previously had put a gasket that was too small on my drain plug, and because the gasket was too small, it had been cut to fit around the plug, leaving an area with a gap around the gasket. They said they would replace the plug and gasket for free, which is nice, but I don't know if this is true, or if it's something they tell every new customer that cones in there. I'm a little skeptical because I have no way of knowing what the gasket was like previously, or if they even replaced it. In the past I've had an excellent experience at this Valvoline store on Parsonage Hill Road in Edison. And for a quick oil change, I think it's still good. But I was told yesterday that I needed a new battery, and that I should change it before the winter comes. It would cost $100--plus. This struck me as suspicious because I have a relatively new car (2016 Honda Accord) so I declined the battery, and then had it checked by my regular mechanic. He told me the battery was fine, fully charged--and showed me the readings to prove it. This left me feeling that I had been hustled by Valvoline, and I pass on this warning to other customers. Beware! Stick with the oil. Check somewhere else for anything beyond the basics. read more
