**Update** I returned to this location because I was informed my vehicle has a staggered fit, therefore, the tire I got put on should of not been put on. It was different from the other three on my car. I called the location explain to them the situation and I was told the tires are in, come right in. When I arrived Eric, the manager already knew my situation and quickly had a resolution for me. The front tire was swapped out for the correct one and I purchased a new tire for the rear. I got rotors and new brakes at a good price as well. These guys deserve five stars. Thanks Matthew and Eric for your customer service. read more

My BMW broke down on a Saturday afternoon while searching for an emergency repair miles from my home. I just so happened to stop here, having never been here before. Needless to say, being caught in a bind with an unfamiliar shop is not the most comforting feeling; particularly, as I had to leave the car in their custody for a diagnosis on Sunday, followed by a repair plan. When I first walked in, I was impressed by Bradley, a store manager. He was exceptionally friendly and receptive to everyone on line, and it was very evident that he's an genuine individual. Long story short, they diagnosed my car and had it ready for pick-up the following Monday. It was fairly complex work and they did an outstanding job. They kept a continuous line of communication to let me know where they were in terms of diagnosis and repair; and most importantly, the fixed the existing problem(s) - they didn't look for potential problems to hike the bill. I wouldn't think twice about coming back here with any type of vehicle. And I must say, Mavis, you have a real winner with your employee Bradley. You don't find many outgoing, reassuring, and genuine people these days in many businesses, particularly tire and garage shops. Thanks a million for fixing my car. I would give '0' if I could. They sold me a defective tire and when I went back the very next morning, tried to say it was my fault, I only lived 3 mins away. Had my first visit at this Mavis today for an oil change and to check my brakes. I started to hear a grinding noise the day before so I knew I needed new brakes and new rotors. I drive a 2004 honda accord with 255k miles on it so I knew I was due for more than the average fix. The guys, especially Sean/Shawn, were extremely helpful with breaking down the wear and tear that was blatantly obvious and showed me what needed to be fixed and at what cost. Being a recent college graduate with my soul sold to Sallie Mae...I told them my budget and they worked around that to make sure I got all the work that needed to be done to be safe on the road AND still stayed under my budget. Being that this is my first car and it's been through a lot with me, I have to return and get some more things fixed but I will return gladly to this shop due to its exceptional service! read more

I came in for new rear breaks and rotors. Subsequent to picking up my car, I realized there was a problem as a result of the work that was done. I called Mavis and spoke to Eric as I was in route to a long road trip. While I was initially disappointed with the issue I was facing, Eric re-assured me that they would handle it. He said if I had to get work done where I was in-route to, they would cover the cost. After returning home, I paid him a visit with the receipts of work that was done and with no delay or headaches, they reimbursed me. Initially as I was faced with this inconvenience, I was feeling that I would not return to Mavis for other services. But based on their willingness and customer service, I will definitely return. Always had amazing service here until the last time... one tire constantly lost air pressure and three of four sensors were misaligned... brought it in three times over two months to get the issue resolved and it still was never totally fixed. Every time I was told the sensors had to "reset" after driving a while,and every time I would leave and they never started to correctly function. Wound up selling the car before I could get them fixed. Note these were brand new (expensive) Michelin tires I bought from them only a month before the issues began, not something old and worn. At least they were always friendly, but after round three I just couldn't anymore... read more

There needs to be a NO Star Option! HERES MY RANT. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSE WHERE. -- I had gone to Mavis because i WAS a customer prior to this -- I had gone in because i heard that my car was making some noise.. i took my car in thinking "oh it's either the brake pads or rotors".. I was met by a guy named Anthony who stated he was a Manager there.. he told me MY shocks were DONEEEEE.. grant i've had my car since 2009 and never have changed my back shocks.. i keep my car very well taken care of and don't do much driving... so because he was the mechanic i trusted him and went ahead in changing my shocks.. I waited 3 hours... Than my car came down and he came back to get me and told me... "He as going to charge me $10 cause the shocks were really dirty", (which i have never heard of someone saying they would charge me for a dirty shock).. BUT then he told me "he gave me a FREE rotor, that cost $80's" -- it was at this point i started thinking this didn't sound right.. so i ended up still paying and headed my way home... about a block away i started to hear the same noise i had gone in for... instead of going back i ended up going home because my children were coming home from camp.... so i decided to go back the next day... & i did, once i got there the same guy told me he couldn't help me because all the mechanics were OUT. but the shop was filled with customers.. so i decided to go back the next day.. when i got there the next day.. and i was met by a different manger named Brain. and i told him everything that happened and he told me "HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT THAT HE WAS SORRY".. and said "THATS WHY HE ISN'T THERE ANYMORE".... so i told him that i'm back because i'm having the same issues once again.. and he said i can't do anything for what he did.. but he can put the car up on the lift and check it out... so he did & he came back saying.. that i needed new bakes and rotors... BUT i told him the guy before said he had giving me a free Rotor & this guy said No, all the rotors are OLD.. So i told him to bring my car down not to work on it and i saw the guy was bring my car down and he was looking for something all over the floor.. i thought nothing of it because at this point i was angry already and just wanted my car to take it elsewhere.. than i checked around my car to make sure there was no dents or anything missing and sure enough.... I WAS FUCKING MISSING 2 WHEEL NUTS TO MY CAR.. how dare you send someone out of your shop with parts missing from their wheels.. i went back and told them that. & they stated that my car didn't come with it.. they had me there for a few and come to show "MY NUTS APPEARED" & they didn't even say anything when they put my nuts on .. it kinda felt like they were the ones being offended... so i didn't say anything and took my car and LEFT.... HOW CAN YOU TRUST A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS & HOW DARE ANYONE TRY TO NOT FIX WHAT THEIR EMPLOY AT THE TIME MESSED UP... Do not go to Mavis, especially this location. Alyssa the store manger is such a scam. Went there for an inspection, and they tried to rip me off because they think I am a girl who doesn't know anything about cars. Alyssa tried to tell me that my brakes are over 90% done, and need to change it. Quoted me and everything. After I said no don't change my brakes she tried to convince me they are grinding and it will fail the inspection. I told her go ahead and fail it because it can never fail. Came to pick my car up they didn't have any rejection form from the dmv. They never ran the inspection. It is ILLEGAL TO charge people for inspection when you never inspected their car. They're whole team are scammers. District manager was informed and I am definitely filing a complaint. People please know your rights when going to an auto repair shop. And if you don't know ask someone who does. Alyssa is a joke. Such a shame. read more

Ottis is one of the worst mechanics I've ever come across. This man has little to no knowledge of cars and tried to tell me a check engine light was on due to not changing my oil, needless to say he was wrong and a fellow employee was able to fix the problem and turn the light off while he ignored my issue after spending 500 dollars at the shop. This man has zero customer service skills and Ottis is a stain on the Mavis brand. I would never bring my car here ever again due to how unaccommodating he was. I have been a loyal customer at Freeports Mavis for over 5 years but that ends today, Ottis is the main reason I will never come here again. read more

I have been a customer for a long time. I always bring my car to this location to get my tires, brakes, inspections, etc. I will no longer will be bringing my car there because of the lady manager there. She is rude and nasty. Last time I bought my car there for the inspection, she wanted me to spend $ 600 before the car could pass inspection. I refused the work, took the car down to Bellmore location and $ 200 and no issues with the inspection. read more

DON'T DO IT.... PLEASE! If I could give this place no stars I would, however it defaulted to 1 star so I'm unfortunately forced to give it 1 star. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with getting break pads. They replaced both front and back break pads as well as the routers and sensors. I had to come back 3 times because of the breaks not functioning properly, major squeaking and sensors and routers malfunctioning. Each time I came back I had to wait for hours. Also, don't believe the hype about the break pads special for $79. I ended up paying $400. if there was possible to pick no stars it would be pick. horrible experience i was there for 4 hours to purchase 2 tires. i had to go to desk to ask how much longer for my car to be done. i was told oh your car is done. but no one never called my name to let me know it was done. i pay go to my car look in trunk to still see my damage tire in trunk and looked at the right passenger side of my car to still see the donut on. there was no explanation on why. 10 minutes later they get my car to do the work. and i was given a business card written on the back for a free oil change. read more

I'm cautious when it comes to going to mechanics as a female because my experience has been they think I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to my own car. However, I didn't feel that way going to Mavis. Not only do they explain what the problem is (my tire sensors weren't working and I needed new brake pads) but give you a few discounts to help out with the overall cost. The team is also so professional and personable that I ended up letting them do my state inspection as well. The wait time wasn't bad so I'd definitely go back in the future. read more

So I've been to a number of different Mavis locations for tires, oil changes, brake pads, etc. What I quickly found is that you have to find the good ones... Many of them are scam artists that just want to sell your extra crap you don't need, tell you things need to be replaced when they don't, and will try to make you buy stuff that can be repaired. The mavis in Long Beach tried they had me replace my brake pads when they have been done just a few months earlier. This time I Had a nail in my tire so an easy patch job Is all I was looking for. Had a bad experience at the Rockville Center Mavis a number of years ago when I came in with a nail in my tire and told, "the nail is at an angle in the tire and cannot be fixed you have to buy a new tire". I ended up listening to this guy and bought a new tire and was told by my friend who is in the automotive industry that most of the time that is a lie! This time, went to the Mavis in Freeport... Waited two hours I was finally told the same thing... that the nails at a certain angle n couldn't be repaired. Told them I'll take my car elsewhere. Took it to the mavis in wantagh...20 minutes later, they patched my tire and I was on my way! Point of the story... when they tell you need new things, don't be afraid to walk away and get a second opinion elsewhere. I know it's a pain to have to wait around for an hour to and then take your car elsewhere but could be worth hundreds of dollars to not listen to them and pay for stuff you don't need. Stay away from the Mavis in Rockville center, Freeport, and I don't trust the one in Long Beach either. Seems like The wantagh location are the only ones that r been honest! read more

Do not go to this establishment. I needed to get an estimate for a brake repair. I talked to Carlos on the phone to arrange for getting the estimate. He was nice enough, but the mechanics were terrible. One drove my car for 10 feet, then declared that the pads and rotors needed to be replaced on all four wheels. They refused to give me a written estimate, then tried to scare me into doing the job right away by giving me a special low price "only for today". Otherwise the job would cost about $300/wheel. I ended up having my car fixed at a far more professional repair shop for a much more reasonable price where I was treated with more respect. read more

In September and after waiting for 6 hours for a simple oil change and tire rotation, I went back over to the shop, got my car and had the work done in under an hour at a competitor. The staff was rude, and obnoxious. Not good for the service industry. I've told everyone I know not to use this location. When I even called Mavis to complain, they told me I should use their Massapequa location. read more

Needed them twice in two weeks (two different cars) both with tire problems. They were professional, fast and (relatively) friendly. The first guy at the desk could use a customer service refresher but the job got done fast and right which is all that really matters in the end. The gentleman here are very courteous. I've had a handful of visits there, all without actually getting service. Twice for an opinion on tire pressure issues, once just to fill my tire with air and another to price out tires. I was pregnant during 2 of the visits and they treated me as they would a family member, making sure I was going to be safe driving my car, filling the tires for me...just so nice. They've always treated me as if I was a paying customer. My husband had the same experience as well. So of course when I actually had a flat and need to get a new tire, I went to Mavis in Freeport. They gave me the best price, I received follow up calls each day to let me know the status of my order. Just all around great. read more

I got my car towed there today because my battery died and was having trouble opening the hood. They were able to get the hood open in minutes and changed my battery out in a timely fashion. I called in advance to make sure they did alignment on jeeps they told me yes over the phone I get there and they see my Jeep and tell me yes again , after waiting over a hour they attempted to align it then came back and told me they couldn't do my Jeep because it had a lift kit on it ,if they would of told me that in the beginning I would of been ok with going some where else but they didn't they messed up my alignment so bad I couldn't drive my car pass 20 miles because my steering wheel was way off and one of my tires was crooked worst experience I've ever had driving any vehicle got to the point where I almost called a tow truck a few blocks away ...... if I can I would give 0 stars the most unprofessional business I've ever experienced ...... if a job is out of your league just say no from the beginning is ok there's many other shops happy to accept the work and you don't cause some one time money and almost their life !!!!!!!!!! read more

I've gone to Mavis a fee times now for an oil change and they always were quick. They were always nice and professional and seemed to really know their stuff when answering a ton of questions. Today I spoke with them even more because I got my power steering flushed and a ps line replaced. They were awesome. They went above and beyond to make me comfortable while waiting the two hours. They did what they said they were going to do and cared by informing me and even negotiating the price. I walked to Goodyear and asked them what they charge for the same service and it was lower than Mavis. I went back and told the Mavis guys this and they responded not by matching the Goodyear price but going even lower then they did. Overall I am a happy customer because I got excellent service. read more
