brought my car there to get my new tires put on and i got a alignment and balance, payed drove my car and there's a little vibration at low speeds so i don't think anything of it. about a week later i'm driving going about 70 and it feels like my wheels are gonna fall off. my mom was following behind and said it looks like my back wheel was wobbly going down the road, sure enough i put my car on jack stands, spin the tire that was questionable and the wheel was put on like sideways, as if the bottom bolts were all tightened first then the top and the wheel was not snug with the hub of my car!!!! my wheels could have fallen off im sure of it, after i saw that i took off the other 3 wheels and on one of my front wheels the hub centric ring was missing causing more vibrations, i know for a fact all 4 wheels had rings before i brought it to them. i ended up buying new rings and put the wheels on THE RIGHT WAY and the vibration is gone. if anything you get from this story don't go here!!!! go do some more research and find a reputable place read more

One and a half hours later exactly we returned and we're told that they had just sent someone to pick them up in Rhinebeck and he should be back soon. 45 min later, When it was time to pay we were charged for all four tires. Guy gives me a decent price on the phone, I say hey cool perfect I'll bring it by tomorrow morning. 20minutes later I get a call from Greg at Mavis saying "hey what are you doing now? Can you bring it by right now?" I say "OK give me a half hour I'll come by now". So I rush through a few things, packed up the tires and head over. I drop the car off, nobody else is around, I ask "hey how long do you its gonna be?" Answer: "we'll be done in an hour and a half". I walk around, burn 2 hours... come back. Car is in the exact spot that I left it, never moved. I walk in and say "... what's up you said an hour and a half.. how long now?" He said "you're next about an half hour before we can get you in".. I say "ill take my keys please". So realistically I don't know if they do good work or not, because they never worked on my car. What I can tell you is that they called me, specifically told me to come in right now, I show up within half hour and drop the car off, wait 2 hours, and my car hadn't been touched. AWFUL I bought 4 new tires and ended up getting other work done (who knows now if it was really needed) - spent over $1000 - they messed up myTPMS system and had all sorts of bogus excuses Now I just had a flat - ended up being right near them and went w misgivings and they messed up my ABS system and threatened to charge me a diagnostic fee when I took it back holding my keys hostage and forcing me to sign a disclaimer from their liability. Avoid at all costs. Arrived at appointment an hour early. They didn't even get the car into the bay until an hour after the appointment. Salesmen will try to sell additional work. I had a vibration and wanted an an alignment and they said new brakes and rotors were needed and mentioned bad battery test. I authorized the brake job and they replaced the battery without authorization. When I saw it on the bill, I told them I didn't authorize it so they put the old battery back on. They never did the alignment and the vibration is still there. Took it to my regular mechanic for other work and they said the battery wasn't even attached, creating serious safety issue if a bump were to dislodge the battery and cause an arc/potential fire. Was very satisfied with my service. The gentlemen who helped me initially and the gentlemen the next day were VERY honest. They could have gouged me and said my breaks were worn but they didn't. Time wise it was a decent, the tires and alignment they had done in 1 hour. They replaced all my tire sensors and gave me a great deal as well as changed my oil. Went in a week ago to have a leak in a tire fixed. Was told it was a leak coming out of the sensor so they replaced it. 6 days later sensor light came on and air pressure was low. Took car back and OMG it wasn't sensor after all. There was an actual leak. Asked for my money back and jerk Corey said "sure we will just take new sensor back out. It cost us money". There is absolutely no time that Anyone likes to go for a car service of any type whatsoever. It is always a pain along with concerns of having costs you don't expect and certainly don't want. Having said that This Mavis is very user friendly, competitive and upfront. I have bought tires from them on at least 5 occasions over the years along with having certain routine work done, sometime for me other times for one of my children. I always comparison shop and they usually come up the lowest or close to it. When they are not the lowest they will meet the lowest price. They have always been courteous and relatively quick. Regardless of the typical repair it will not hurt to call them for a price. My last visit was with my Lexus RX 350 for a synthetic oil change and tire rotation. With a coupon that was easily gotten on line, they were the best price by far. It was actually a pleasant experience, despite my opening remarks, because they were so quick. read more

Big mistake they checked my car to make sure the suspension was in good shape.Before they would give me a warranty for my very expensive 4 tire.So bought my very expensive tires.About 8 month later I noticed my rear tires were wearing badly so I went back.They put my van up on the lift again to check the problem.Then was told that my rear shock absorbers were in really bad shape,and I word need new ones. Though mysteriously the battery alternator light appeared directly after the previous visit to Mavis, which made for a nerve-wracking long trip later that afternoon, with my partner thankfully able to juggle batteries in and out en route, we made it. The work they did that day, and that they identified as needing doing on my old Focus next visit was invaluable, and perhaps life-saving. Yesterday's (specially ordered) new tires, alignment, rotors, brakes etc, etc, including the available discounts which were gratefully offered and received -- all seem excellent. Biggest scumbag rip offs, mother in law brought her car here for just rear rotors and pads and an exhaust gasket nothing else, $1,450 later, mavis puts on new calipers rotors pads and front struts of which the struts and calipers were fine, but of course once they touch things they all the sudden break and are no good, don't bring your car here unless you want to get ripped off badly, oh they also did a power steering and brake fluid "flush" of which were never changed or flushed, they never even took the caps off as they were never touched and still had dirt and dust on the caps still, fluid was still the same and dirty not new, so if your a female or someone that don't know much about or anything about cars then bring it to a local mechanic that knows what there doing and Is trust worthy Yes I know all this is true and not done or broken before hand as I'm a mechanic myself and have been working on cars my whole life, and this car was worked on 2 weeks ago before going to mavis read more

Had a reservation for early in the morning was told to give them 2 hours took over 4 hours. When I came back two hours later my car wasn't even put on the lift they were standing around smoking cigarettes. You're getting paid to do your job stop trying to Fuck over innocent people. Yes Mavis Tires was available to put new rear tires on after 5pm on a Friday (blew a tire and needed 2 new rear tires); they replaced the brake pads and rotors and it cost a lot, but I could drive - or so I thought. Some weeks later one of rear tire fell off! Could have really hurt someone other than just me and the car! At 5:15 on a Sat they told me to rent a car and come in on Monday; it was my problem. The person, who stopped to help me on the side of road, said his in-laws had a tire that Mavis had installed fall off - and they were on a highway going much faster that my 40 mph. If you want professionals, don't bother with Mavis Tires. No apology, no help, refused to take responsibility, trying to blame it on another company, refuse to share the video they claim that shows that they did their job despite what the subsequent repair shop said about their tire installation. Don't bother with Mavis Tires - go elsewhere even on a Friday evening after 5pm. Steer clear of them!!! read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I called the call center and and got a quote for four tires for a 2009 Honda Accord. When my husband got there he was told that each tire would be $30 more than what we were quoted. They also said that I gave the call center the wrong tire size when all I ever gave the call center was the make and model of the car. The call center also told us it would take 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It actually took them 3 1/2 hours to complete the job because apparently some of their workers didn't show up. The call center also told us about a rebate of $70 from Michelen which the owner of this establishment claimed has expired. Luckily, another worker pointed out the rebate which the owner was too lazy to find. Awful customer service. I should have gone to Sam's Club, but I assumed a place focusing just on tires would do a better job. Don't go. read more

STAY AWAY! On my way to work I had a flat tire and was hoping to get it fixed. At Mavis, they told me it was unfixable, which could have been true. However, when I agreed to buy 2 new tires, they added an extended warranty and also a wheel alignment without asking me. When I got the bill after the work was done, and asked about the extras, they told me that all they could do was refund the extended warranty. I will never go there again! read more

I would rate Mavis in Kingston, NY a big zero if I could. These ppl have done nothing but cost me money and didn't fix my problems. They don't even do a test drive on your car after they do work and give it back to you. Now I know what bait and switch means. On December 26/2018 I needed to get tires on my vehicle so they quoted me a price of $500 for the tires and balancing. They wanted to align it and I said no I didn't need an alignment. After a day or so I had a drag in the car and the car howled when I was going up the highway. There was a weird smell also almost like a burning smell. Went back to Mavis and was told it sounded like the hub and a bearing. They came up with this after test driving it supposedly. My other half works nearby so just dropped car off. They gave him an estimate of $485.00. Asked why this happened after just having tires put on and ans. was that things go when you have new stuff put on. Hello, you just put 4 tires on, not an overhaul! I'm on a limited income so wasn't prepared for another big bill. We asked if car could be driven without doing damage and we'd bring it back in. Chris said, "Oh yhea....howling may get a little louder but no problem. January 9th drop car off for work to be done. Drove car as little as possible cause it was getting worse. Now they call and said they were wrong, the car needs inner and outer tie rods. Then said, "Don't worry the price is the same." Now mind you, I have this in there to take care of a problem. They test drove it and said something else. Now it changes. I assume their fixing my problem. NOPE! They did the tie rods and gave me an alignment which I knew nothing about, pick up car and STILL THE SAME PROBLEM! I asked if they test drove it after their work and they said NO. Tell them the vehicle is no different and they drive it. Then they bring it in shop and say, "I noticed your tranny whinning pretty loud so I checked the fluid and you had none. (At this point I don't believe this.) He said he put 2 qts. in it. Told me maybe it's the pump in the tranny not working. Take it to Sharp Transmission. Are you kidding me. Why am I giving you all this money to fix a problem and your just putting parts on my car I don't need. When I let him have it on the phone he said he would put my tie rods back on if I wanted him to but he felt play in the wheel. Are you kidding me!!!! Took vehicle to Sharp and it is the Power Transfer Unit that is bad and needs to be replaced. Couldn't fix it cause all the gears were burnt out etc. Replacement-$1900.00. Stay away from these ppl. They will misdiagnose your vehicle, not fix your problem, tell ya you can drive it when you shouldn't cause they have no clue and then put their hand out for money. So I made an appointment for 10am I dropped off my car told the guy I wanted the two back tires moved to the front and the two new tires put on the back. I went back home and waited I knew it was going to take up to three hours so at 3;30 I called to find out how it was going?. They told me they had the wrong phone number for me even though I had been there two weeks ago and had my brakes done and they had no trouble calling me then? also I have been a customer for years so there was a file for me and on my appointment e- mail had my phone number on it!. So they wanted to know what I wanted to have done with the tires at 3:30 and I said just like I told the guy at the front desk put the rear tires on the front and the new tires on the back, He said ok and hung up. At 5pm I called to see what was happening with my car now that it had taken 7 hours to change two tires he said they had tried to call me again and still had the wrong phone number, this after two hours before I had given him the home and my cell phone number?. I went and picked up my car on the drive home my tire light came on so I went back to find out what was going on?. I called to see if this location had the tires I needed in stock. They did and I told them I would need 2 of them replaced and I would be in in an hour or two. I get there, tell them I'd do all 4 instead of just the 2. They gave me a price and told me the vehicle would be done in an hour an hour and a half, and said if I left the keys with them I could go do my errands with my dad instead of waiting. I left the location at 10:55am and came back at 12:30pm and my car was in the same spot, no new tires yet and hadn't been touched. My dad went in and asked what was taking so long and they said we'd be the next car in. I watched them pull 3 cars out and mine still hadn't moved. I went in and asked for my keys. This is not the first time I've had this problem here, but it has been years since the last interaction and I figured they'd have it together by now. My boyfriend stopped in to get an inspection done on my car, no big deal right?? WRONG!! They immediately dismantled the wheels and brakes, told us we needed to buy new brakes or he wouldn't "pass" us for the inspection. My boyfriend said, it's not my car, so I need to call and ask first. My boyfriend puts him on the phone with me and I tell him "No under no circumstance do I want you changing my brakes. You do NOT have my authorization. Period! Not only that, it is ILLEGAL to even change the oil on a car without written consent. (which they didn't have from me OR my boyfriend) put my old brakes back on my car and we will pay the inspection fee and go somewhere else." what did he do? He said, "no I don't want to put your brakes back on tonight, if you want that you'll have to come back after tomorrow... But I will put the new brakes on your car tonight." (!!!!!!) hello, extortion so sorry to see you. My boyfriend being non American, French actually, was bringing our daughter back to the city for her first day of school (ever) tomorrow. What was he supposed to do? He paid the guy for the brakes that we DID NOT need so he could leave the place and then he called the police. Not only this, but after fiddling around with the fuses for about 30 minutes they messed around and screwed up the electrical system so that the diagnostics doesn't work now. After the entire brake situation-THEN they ran the diagnostics which OMG, can you believe it, didn't work anymore. Mind you this is a 05 Cadillac escalade with about 45k miles on it and just serviced 3 weeks ago... He said, it's an old car. Sorry, here's a 50 mile extension pass in case you get pulled over." ummm nyc is at least 90 miles from that store... I've never seen such shady and blatant extortion in my life. I'm now dedicating the following days to reviewing and getting the message out about them as much as possible because a civic suit, although totally winnable since we kept the original brakes and never signed anything with them authorization wise (+ police report) is great. I made my first and hopefully last trip to small claims court today and had the pleasure of being cross-examined by two of Mavis's sleaziest, douchebaggiest representatives for about an hour. I bought tires from the Kingston, NY location in late February and three weeks later my left front wheel fell off, minus four out of five lug nuts. Though fortunately it did have the good grace to come loose in front of a local auto body shop and not, say, while I was doing 60 down the Thruway, I still incurred almost four hundred bucks in repair bills to replace the destroyed rim and missing bolts. Sleazy Douchebags #1 and #2 denied all responsibility because there was a disclaimer on my receipt stating that I should have returned after 25 miles to get them retightened - "in big red letters" (they went to great pains to point out the big red letters part, I guess because font weight and color constitute a legal defense in and of themselves). The judge basically stared at them in silence for a good five seconds before deciding in my favor. I think she was making a mental note to never take her car to Mavis. read more

DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! The Kingston and Rhinebeck stores are both managed by the most despicable person I have ever dealt with! My friend took his truck in to get new rear tires and advised the mechanic that the rear end of the truck had been leaking and was making a strange noise. He wanted to be sure it was safe as we were going on a road trip the next day. While on the NY state thruway going 65 mph, the rear tires locked and my friend, somehow, got the truck off the highway while screeching and skidding all the way without flipping or rolling! The mechanic had lied and said that he had added fluid and the rear end was normal. Truth is nothing was done.The truck was towed to Mavis in Kingston ($350!) The manager Randy, admitted that the work was not done but he is REFUSING to do the right thing and fix the damage caused without payment ! Last time I went to Kingston Mavis was about 7yrs ago and I left on a bad note. Went back today after much coaxing from co-workers for a good deal on tires on my tight budget and left on an even worse note. Will NEVER SET FOOT IN THERE AGAIN SO HELP ME GOD. Could not make it there on original appt. date due to a snow storm (hence why I need new tires) so I called to reschedule and was told to come in half hr before they closed. I purposely ask " are you sure?" as I work from 9-5 and have a half hr commute to their shop was told that it was fine. Should've gotten the employee's name. I arrived and was told that I did not have a 530pm appt and that it was scheduled for 10am which made no sense since I work 9-5! Manager John was so rude.. Did not apologize , did not offer to reschedule appt. And treated me as if I were a liar. According to customer service message, calls are recorded so I will call and ask them to investigate. They can listen to my conversation and hear exactly what took place when I scheduled the appt since the manager refused to believe that the appt was scheduled for 530pm. Last I was there 7yrs ago, they broke my car door handle and failed to inform me. Didn't realize it until I got in my car and couldn't let myself out! I went back into the shop to ask about it and was greeted with "oh yeah sorry about that." Unreal! read more
