Damaged my wheels/tires and then LIED about it... Wouldn't go there to change tires on my lawnmower... I brought in a nice polished set of expensive BBS wheels, they scratched the face/lip on all 4 of them (see before/after pic), managed to rip the bead on two tires and then LIED saying it was already there when I inspected them just before... Then trying to make it work, they used tons of tire glue and sent me on my way, even though the tire is not safe to drive on... just find a reputable shop, mistakes happen but how you deal with them makes all the difference read more

I have been bringing my cars to Mavis/Mahopac for about 25 years. Justin and Moe run this shop like a well-oiled machine. They are the nicest guys you can ever meet; all about the customer. I go there for routine scheduled maintenance, but when they really shine is when I have a problem that is driving me nuts, or just worrying me. It happened again today. I didn't know what to expect when I brought my car in at around 4 pm with a duffus problem with a frozen screw. And what happened? Problem quickly solved and I was on my way in about 10 minutes. I cannot say enough about this mavis!!! I always feel like they are in the business of diagnosing and repairing properly. They have been honest and upfront. And i can say with certainty that this mavis is superior to any others! One example... brought my vehicle to not 1 not 2 but 3 other mavis' and only this location accurately and competently fixed my issue. The others??? Dropped off my car this morning, Saturday around 9:00am, because one tire kept losing air. The shop was very busy and I was told it could take an hour or more to service the tire. So, walked to local bagel shop. Was only gone about 20-25 minutes when they called and said the car was ready!! Wow! Then when I got back to the shop, I found out the service charge was MUCH better than I was expecting!! FYI - I have used this shop before but it was at least 6 years prior to today. I know I will need them again. So, good to know I can trust them for future service needs. read more

Very pleased to have brought my car here. Had a nightmarish experience at the BJ's tire center prior to my visit. The guys behind the counter were extremely helpful and understanding. Truth be told I'm trying to give 2.5 stars but the app won't allow. I will continue with the 3 stars for one reason. The person who put my tires on did an amazing job. Now here goes the critique. It could have been a Satrurday Night Live skit how the mechanic comes out of the room and says something far beyond an oil change was wrong with the car. I was told (falsely) that something was wrong with a viral part of my car and I had the car looked at again and nothing was wrong. No one took the bait in the shop. One person had just purchased the car off of a lot & just wanted an oil change & the guy came out was like "what did you hit?" And he customer said "the wrong f*cking Mavis!" I have trusted Mavis with my cars for about 20 years and my current tires were purchased less than 2 years ago at Mavis. I found my tire almost flat at the end of my workday last night 6/11/19. I filled tire, drove to Mavis and arrived at about 520/525. Asked the rep behind the counter if someone could look to tell me if I had a nail and plug tire. The rep said, "No, leave car or bring back in morning!" One customer at counter and another one in parking lot. This store closes at 6 pm and there was open bays, workers not tending to cars, and my request could have been resolved in less than 10 minutes. I don't understand why they turned me away with 40 minutes left in the workday with a semi flat tire! Lost a long term customer, spent thousands on tires and oil changes and told "No". This is the reason why businesses fail and lose customers!! read more

Totally disorganized, they hire cheap labor that have little or no experience and i brought my car to them, the guy made my brake cylinder worst then when i came into the place and now state im leaking brake fluid all over the place when it was never leaking before, so they charged me for a whole new brake cyclinder when i only ask that Mavis rotate my tires. read more

I brought my car here just this past week for an inspection and oil change, A few months ago they got me out of a jam with my car and they were so great that this was going to be my go to place. At first I was annoyed bc they gave me synthetic oil instead of conventional, but I say "who cares" I'll get more mileage and the price difference isn't that significant. What gets me irritated is that I spent 500 dollars (needed brakes) and they misplaced my wheel lock and when I call to tell them, they tell me that I must not be looking good enough (the locks sit in a case). Then they say they will call me if they find it, I asked if I could buy them somewhere and they said the dealership, they didn't offer to compensate anything after the 500 spent. End of rant. Btw my car runs like garbage and I now need a new place. So just keep in mind when they do the "nice" and "free" stuff, they'll get u back eventually. read more

Came in for an oil change and inspection. Got talked into rotating the tires bc apparently I'm supposed to do that every other oil change and I haven't had that done yet (leased the car last dec...) 11/18- I got a call from Customer service today I guess they had my information after all After a short description of my problem he offered to take the $69.99 off of what I was charged for the alignment When I asked what my time is worth he took off another $30 "for gas" I really am not into negotiating with CS people from large corporations on the phone . I'm in the middle of my 3rd or 4th experience at this Mavis. Once again I have rec'd the most professional and courteous service possible. My car was in much worse shape than I thought. The staff member worked with me to address the most serious problems first during this holiday season; I will come back in January to get the job finished. Went to my local Mavis in LaGrangeville looking for a specific tire to replace one that was damaged and was told that the closet store with that tire in stock was in Mahopac. Due to the fact that I need to get the vehicle back on the road, called Mavis in Mahopac TWICE and was told the tire was in stock at that location. My wife and son were good enough to drive the hour to get there only to be told they do NOT have the tire in stock!! No explanation as to why we were told it was in stock and no apology. Wasted two hours of there time and the gas to get there and still don't have a replacement tire. If they can't figure out how to manage their inventory I wonder what the quality of their work is! read more

Mavis is a scam. brought my car in for a simple inspection. Ended up paying almost 400 dollars for rear shocks and to get my power steering fluid flushed. Returned to pick up my car and it wouldn't start. They told me a fuse had blown. They had to order the fuse from the dealer which would take 2 days. When the fuse came in it wasn't the right one so I had to wait even longer. When I finally picked my car up five days after I brought it in, the radio wouldn't work. This is not the first time mavis has screwed me over. I will never go back to this mavis and would not recommend anyone bring their car in to them. I'd rather drive an hour away to a different mechanic than go to this mavis 2 miles from my home. Don't bring your car here, they will try. Sell you services you DONT NEED. read more

As awesome as I thought the people who work in the front office were, very nice, personable and helpful...the person who changed my tires didn't put my spare tire back the right way, nor did they put the jack back properly. i had my own tires and it was in rocky point so i went to mavis tire shop and i asked for changing those tires the lady at the counter charged me $258 just changing the tire because i needed to get it done i agreed after 3.5 hour waiting with no respect we left the shop.when i got the bill i noticed that they charged me for tire valves and tire pressure sensors and when i checked the valves were the old ones that is very obvious because new ones should be shiny and clean but it was covered by black dust .i asked many tire shops those parts are not suppose to be replaced on 2 years old car and i could get it done in huntington for $100 this is just ripped off and I am happy .My advise is when you wanna change tires those parts dont need to be replaced make sure what they are doing on your car over charging or not replacing the parts that you are being charged . mavis discount tire in Mount Sinai, New York read more

Most dishonest repair place around...First everyone should know they work on commission! My most recent run in with them was when I brought my 3 year old car in for inspection. I was told I needed front tires and shocks. I knew I didnt need shocks and I gave them an ok on front tires since they were getting low. I told them no shocks..they argued I needed them and I said no I don't, do my front tires. They call me back and say the car is ready..bill is over $700! I say how can two tires cost $700?? They said oh we replaced all 4 tires...I specifically told them to match the rear tires that were it great shape! They said oh we must have misunderstood, we will take off the rear tires...I pick up the car and it is all over the road and the rear tires look bald!! They charged me for balancing and never did it! There excuse was the weight must have fallen off...They also stole my rear tires.. They put my bald front tires on the rear and took my good tires!! My car was not holding the road..I didnt trust them to fix this so I went to a local honest mechanic who unfortunately isnt open on weekends and he told me my shocks were in great shape and my front tires are now on the rear..He could tell by the tread wear (front wheel drive car)!! Previous time..my SUV had a frozen caliper...I brought it in to be released..they advised my I needed new breaks and rotors...I said oh really?? I said I have had this truck in my garage and you replaced the brakes and rotors maybe 100 miles ago!!! Funny when they checked they found the bill and didnt know what to say!!! They said they would do it for free...BS!!! I have a few more stories but used them for weekend hours...Now that they are not only scam artists but thiefs, I will never go back and tell everyone to avoid them!!! I was in there this morning to get a price on tires and I overheard the manager Ray telling a customer the same line about struts and front end work, I was there last year, I did buy tires and was told I needed brakes, I'd just had them done at my shop in Granite Springs...this place is a total RIP OFF!!! Literally a scam. They call themselves a "Mavis" location but they are only using the name, I ended up calling corporate to learn they do not follow Mavis corporate policies or uphold any of the Mavis deals/promos which I learned after they let me PAY for services. They charged me DOUBLE for my tires and they told me they apologize for any inconvenience and would not fix the bill. There are no screens so I could not review the bill prior to paying. Beware of this place, they are thieves. Go down the street to Goodyear or go to BJ's for tires. Absolutely absurd that they are using the Mavis name and doing "bait and switch" price scams. Also, if you are a female do not go to this location. They tried to upsell me on just about every service available and I did not see them hassling any male customers in a similar way. DO NOT GO HERE. You will get scammed by the guy MO who works there. I went last Sunday for new tires. He told me I also needed four struts. MO said all of my struts were shot and his exact words were that I will bounce off the highway. It would have cost me an additional $800-1,000. I did not do it. A couple days later I had my dealer check it out. My dealer said my struts, shocks and suspension are perfectly fine!! Be careful and go to someone you trust. read more
