This place is terrible! they had me drop my car off and when I got out of work to go pick up my car I get there and my car has no tires on it and I waited at the desk for 15 mins before anyone talked to me and when someone finally came out to talk to me they said that they couldn't get the tires that they ordered and he came out rolling what looked like used tires and tried to tell me that those were like the ones that I wanted and they weren't even close. So I left there with the same tires that I drove there with and a terrible noise in the front right wheel. So all I got out of them was a wasted day, terrible service, a damaged right front wheel. For the past 3 years and up to 3 months ago, I would have given this location a 5. Oil changes, tires, brakes, repairs, these guys had ALL my family's business. Justin, Nate, Rodney, Mike, and Patrick were AWESOME. Professional, polite, honest, and could always give me an actual appointment. Something changed, and they have all left and been replaced by people who won't let you have an appointment and who are rude and pushy to sell services you don't need. It's now a "3 hour window", like you're waiting for the cable guy. I'm not waiting 3 hours for a half hour oil change, just because someone can't keep an appointment book. Here's an idea: keep an appointment book and treat people right, then you won't need to scam people into unnecessary services to make up for lost business. If these things can change, I'll come back. But until then, Mavis has lost a loyal customer of 3 years. read more

Went out to my car the other day to go to school and noticed my car had a flat tire ,my car didn't come with a spare so I called AAA to tow me , they offered to bring me to Mavis Discount Tire on Dalton ave and I agreed upon arriving they took my car onto the lift and said I was going to need a new tire , desperate to get to school somewhat on time I agreed and they put my new tire on. After school that day I went out to my car to go home and get ready for work upon turning my car on my low tire pressure light came back on, thinking maybe they just forgot to reset it I checked my tire pressure on every tire including the new one and every tires pressure was good except for the new one it was only a quarter of what it should've been. I called the store and they agreed to take another look at it, I brought my car back to the shop where they put it back on the lift it sat there for about 10 minutes before anyone even looked at. Finally someone came and began assessing it five minutes later a man came back and said it was all good , I asked what the problem was and he said the reading on the gauge on their machine was off earlier and he apologized. I asked him if there was anything I should be concerned about or if my tire was going to leak again and he said he could assure me everything was all taken care of . I thanked him and went to work later that night, I work as a delivery boy so having a working car in all aspects is very important to me. On one of my deliveries... MY LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN! So I pulled over and checked the tire they replaced again and sure enough it was low again I called the store again asking what they could do and they responded you can drop it off tomorrow morning which also isn't very helpful considering they don't even open until after the time I have to be at school for. Distraught I drove the car to Monro Auto parts on the Pittsfield Lenox road after work that night and dropped the car off. The next morning my mechanic said that the tire they installed was completely flat he also said that 10 minutes into removing the wheel from my car he said there was a crack in the rim that " you couldn't miss" but somehow everyone in that shop overlooked it . Upon calling them back to ask about it they said they thought I brought my car there asking them to reset the low tire service light. Also might I mention they hassled me about buying a new battery from them which I declined and I am happy I did because upon testing that battery at Monro auto service they said the battery was in perfect condition and put out the right amount of electricity. Long story short think long and hard before you let Mavis Discount Tire handle your car. This business is shady and I feel ripped off , will NOT return! read more

Last March I bought a new full set of tires from Mavis in Pittsfield, Ma. They told me that I didn't have a choice I had to purchase their insurance on the tires in case they got messed up later like a puncture or whatever. Well, It happened I got a piece of metal in my tire yesterday and I called them. They said to bring it up there and they would replace it. When I got there with the tire they told me that it is a prorated insurance depending how long I have had them will determine how much off I will get off my new tire. My tire was in great shape other than the piece of metal in it. It will still cost me what it did when I bought it new. And they told me I have to pay for the hazard insurance again. SMH read more

Took my sister s car there for $89 front brake pads I didn't feel like doing it. They charged her $350 bucks padded bill like crazy did stuff I didn't even ask for they charged $89 bucks for changing power steering fluid I only wanted brake pads like sign said $89 bucks . And never heard of such a thing Wtf. And other stupid stuff they kept her car till it was paid her whole paycheck. And there was a hole in muffler the same size as ball pine hammer. I went in to get 4 new tires on late Thursday, around 5 pm with a quote we arranged online. Upon arrival, I was told there were 2 cars ahead of me. After two hours my car was still waiting, I stated I was going to come back because I could not wait any longer, when I was told my car was going in. I checked outside and it was still sitting on the place I left it. I then saw someone take it in and immediately take off the tires. After another 1/2 hour, my car was still on the lift without tires. I asked to talk to the manager and asked for a HONEST time when it would be done, he stated 35 minutes. I felt as though they knew I was going to leave so they took my car and took the tires off so I had no choice but to stay. After OVER 3 long hours, my car was finally done. I spent $621.67 for poor customer service, I hope I get better results from the tires. read more

I've been to this location many times over the past 6-years to have my car and my wife's car serviced. These guy's always went out of their way for me. I gave them detailed instructions and the manager followed through on every request. Sometimes it took longer than expected, however, the process usually is completed quickly - I have no complaints. Compared to Town Fair Tire in CT (which rejected my service request) Mavis Discount Tire is #1 in my book. read more

Went to get an alignment. When it was done as I was paying and asked for the alignment report. I was told it couldn't be printed at that time because the alignment was done, and the computer doesn't save the previous alignment. So I said I'm sorry but I'm not leaving without the report so I can make sure it was done correctly. So back on the rack my car goes...then they come back in and tell me my rear control arms are aftermarket so they can't do the alignment per their policy. After waiting 2 hours I left with the rear end not even touched. They refunded my money, but I wasted 2 hours. I would have been in and out if they actually tried to align the rear, because they would have IMMIDIATLY noticed the control arms(they are powder coated bright red) and told me to bring it elsewhere. Was on vacation and found I had bald tires on my front wheels and found this place on Yelp with 4 bad reviews. I still went here because the complaints seemed silly to me. I don't mind waiting if it means getting good service at a good price. Well, I was right. Don was EXCELLENT with me, and seemed a really nice guy. I sensed he was honest with over hearing his other conversations with customers. He gave me a great price (beat my Costco membership price), got an alignment at a fair price, and gave me a ton of helpful advice along the way. I was out of there in an hour from start to end for all 4 tires and the alignment. I think that is VERY reasonable. And even if I had to wait longer, who cares. Good tires, good service and good price is more important than waiting a bit longer! read more

Was very satisfied with my service. The gentlemen who helped me initially and the gentlemen the next day were VERY honest. They could have gouged me and said my breaks were worn but they didn't. Time wise it was a decent, the tires and alignment they had done in 1 hour. They replaced all my tire sensors and gave me a great deal as well as changed my oil. I left my car with Pittsfield Mavis to get new snow tires. They called me to say I needed new struts - mine were rusted out and they were the originals so they should be changed - and they just happened to be having a sale! I fell for it. But I did call them and say I wanted the old parts back. Then they called back and said that two of the struts actually had already been replaced so they would just replace two. When I went to pick up the car they hadn't put the old struts in the car like I had asked. I asked again and they produced them. I took a look at them and there was maybe 1/4" spot on the bottom of each one that had the tiniest bit of pinkish rust. Other than that the struts looked brand new. After a lot of back and forth, which included an employee looking through my Nissan manual and trying to tell me that when the manual said the axle ball joint should be looked at at 100,000 miles, what they really meant was the struts should be replaced - the manager agreed to put the old struts back in and give me a full refund for the struts and labor. I should have read the Yelp reviews before I took my car in - lesson learned! I'm giving five stars because the manager made it right in the end. But I don't recommend them and I won't go back. read more

Went today for a snow tire change over.Told us it would be an hour. 2 1/2 hours later,tires remounted. BUT,dishonest person running the show there. He came and asked us to look at our Jeep. The Service manager stated it needed new shocks,He stated he noticed it was a bit bouncy when He drove it in. Really,I parked it next to the bay door. No holes or bumps there. I told him I just replaced the entire axle and shocks just a few weeks ago. Then He stated I needed a computer programed so my tire sensors would talk to each other. I knew this was crap,but played along. How much is that, I asked. $25.00 He stated. I declined. They seem more interested in parts selling than tires now. I drove off, the tire sensors working properly. I have gone there many times in the past. Something has changed. They are pushing shocks like M&Ms,and of course other things. The long wait I think was because they were installing shocks on another Senior citizens vehicle. You can do better,look around and avoid the hard sell. read more

We have contacted talked to the All the managers, as well a Sharon T, who responded so apologetically in her response, yet when they refused to provide us with a check for the 1300.00 dollars in damage they caused, and she was told we would be taking them to court she hung up on my wife. They think that a 300.00 credit to have future work done is acceptable. They are a joke. Calling the attorney general's office and filing in small claims. Never ever bring your vehicle to them. One of the auto body shops my wife went to said it was the 4th vehicle there in a couple weeks from damage that Mavis in Pittsfield caused. They try to sound all nice in there customer response, but the minute you talk to them they are horrible to deal with. read more

Definitely has gone downhill recently! Couple weeks ago called about a simple code read diagnosis and was told they had an opening in 30 mins. So I arrived 20 mins later to an almost empty waiting room and clerk assured me they could get me right in. Couple more customers arrived shortly after, one was a woman who seemed to know someone there and after an hour and 20 minutes I left in disgust when my car hadn't moved from the lot and she was being consulted about her car that was already on the lift and it appeared as though my car wasn't going in until she was done in an hour or so. Also bought a 50,000 mile tire from them about 10months and 15,000 miles ago and they are completely worn out. They would not stand behind the product they sold, so off to City Tire I go..... a well respected and reputable tire dealer right down the street. Wouldn't buy air from Mavis at this point read more

I just got an oil change and tire rotation. Did not even make it home, 30 minutes away, and my drivers side hub cap came flying off! I pulled over to find it which I did only to see it's now broken. I checked the others only to find the passenger side loose! After I got home I raised the hood only to find the cap for the positive battery terminal sitting on top of the air cleaner. Really guys? You have the nerve to tell me my battery's weak, My fluids are dirty and you can't even replace plastic hubcaps correctly. Looked on the receipt and saw a 1800 # to call if I'm not satisfied, which rang a couple dozen times and then just went to a busy signal. I went to buy tires and have them put on and that's it! I stated that I did not want any other work done on my vehicle no matter what. At one point an employee came in telling me the "brake light was on" This light wasn't on when I got there and even after I told them to do nothing, it wasn't on when I left. They continued to argue with me telling me that the light was on, so I asked to see it. I was told by an employee that it was now off.!!?? How I asked, when you didn't do anything? Then they said that it needed an alignment and was already up on the lift. Again I asked, why? I had asked for no other work. The supervisor continued to argue with me until finally they took it off the lift and brought it to the parking lot. The entire time I was there I could hear two employees swearing at each other and screaming. This is honestly the most unprofessional group of snake oil mechanics I have ever seen. Customer service here is awful. I showed up about 20 min til closing and the employees looked at each other and said, "Seriously?" (as if I can't hear...) and acted like I was some kind of intruder. I asked if we could get a tire changed, and one of the guys told that they're closing in 5 minutes (Really? At 5:50?), but I didn't want to make a scene. Got a flat at 6:04 passing friendlys( right next to mavis) pilled in and asked if they could help. Both guys refused cuz they closed at 6. We had a spare just needed the jack. We offered to pay them to do it they still refused. Went back in and asked to borrow the jack for 20 bucks they still refused lying by saying the only jack they had an employee took home when everyone know they have one to two jacks for every bay they have. Then the guy had the other guy block the door from us trying to come back. Leaving us stranded in -3 degree weather to figure it out. They proceeded to leave without saying anything to us. I understand they are closed and had a long day but to leave three people in that kind of weather without any help knowing they could have help and we were willing to pay them in their pockets and they still wouldn't is disgraceful. Bought some great BF Goodrich tires at a decent price, but Mavis didn't balance them properly. Went back and had them balanced again. It seemed better but then at higher speeds it was still wobbly. I gave up on that issue for now. Second issue: tires/stems were leaking several pounds in just a few days. Had to re-inflate every day for proper tire wear. Took it in, waited a LONG time and they supposedly fixed it. They DID NOT FIX IT!!! After all this hassle and wasted time (a lot of my time!) I will not be going back. read more

Stay as far away from this shop as you can. I brought my car in to get my snows swapped over to a new set of summer tires. After the tech had swapped the tires out and pulled the car out front for me to pick up he preceded to back another customers vehicle into mine, crumpling the driver side rear door while my car was parked unoccupied. I had a police report filed and decided to try and be a nice guy and go through them instead of taking it to court or getting my own insurance company involved. Firstly they took a week to get back to me on what their process was for writing a check for the damages, then I was told that i had to go to three different shops to get estimates for them instead of just paying the bill for the person whom I trust to do the work. After taking a day off of work to get these estimates for them they told me that in order for them to pay for it I would have to go to lowest bidder (which was someone who I wouldn't trust to paint a bicycle nevertheless my vehicle) or I would have to go back to the shop I wanted and haggle the price down for them. I told them that wasn't acceptable and that I would be going to the shop I trusted and that they needed to find out a way to make it happen. I was then called by one of the managers in NY and told that I needed to haggle the price down for them because the cost was $400 over the lowest bidder, I told him that since they were the ones at fault that that was a ridiculous thing to ask of me. I ended up having to go through my personal insurace company which was great about the situation and had them chase Mavis down for the money that they were owed. As long as I have been driving I've bought my tires at mavis but after this experience i'll never ne back and i've told all my family and friends in the car enthusiast community to stay away from here unless you have a really good lawyer or enjoy fighting with a company to pay for the damages that they caused. read more

We stopped in for an oil change on the way to NYC. They told us it would be 40 minutes so we left to do a quick errand. Just out of the lot we heard a loud bang and horrible grinding noise. We pulled back into Mavis and they had us on the lift in no time. Our ebrake had failed (in spite of recent brake work at Volvo in W Springfield) and shredded the cover while disintegrating. They could have really stuck it to us with a repair to get us back on the road--we had a dog and car full of luggage with us, but they cleaned up the damage, changed our oil and did a power steering flush and had us on the road in an hour! They only charged us for the oil change and steering flush--didn't even charge us for the labor to remove the shredded ebrake. Don Wilson (Manager) and his group were incredibly helpful and professional. They explained in great detail how the problem should have been caught during brake work at the dealer. These guys have saved our necks in the past--always got us in at the last minute late in the day, for tires or oil changes. From now on they will be our first stop for tires, oil changes, and whatever else we need! Great guys! read more

I went to Mavis to get a patch done on a flat tire. They told me it would take 30 minutes. 45 minutes later he calls me to tell me that the object in the tire was too deep and it would require 4 patches to fix it and it would be too hazardous to drive. He told me that I needed to buy a new tire for $90. I told him I saw they had $70 tires available for my car. He very rudely said "Whatever we have a $60 tire with 40k miles" I said okay that's fine. I also requested to see the object that was in my tire. He said that was fine and that I could even "keep my old tire" Ten minutes later I go in and all of the employees were behind the counter staring at me. The guy who I spoke to on the phone tells me my car is all set. My original tire only required 2 patches and it's ready to go. I am confused at this point and ask how much. He said it was free. I then ask to see the object that was in my tire. He says its on the floor somewhere. I ask if someone could go pick it up and show it to me. I want to see how large the object was. He comes back with very tiny pieces of broken glass and says the object fell apart when they pulled it out. I then ask for a report stating they did service to my tire. He gets defensive and says "what do you want? your car is fixed." I said that I wanted an honest service. He told me over the phone that it would be HAZARDOUS to drive on the tire if they patched it, and now all of a sudden it only needed two patches and they aren't charging me? I asked to have a report for proof that they did service on my car because I didn't want to end up stranded somewhere on a poor service job. read more
