This is absolutely my favorite service center. Of all the auto repair shops from Hague down to Albany, this is the one. Every single staff member is professional, knowledgeable, and customer service oriented (which is rare these days). I just do not possess the vernacular to accurately describe my recommendation for this place. Owner John is probably the hardest working and well rounded of all, greeting customers by name and with a huge smile on his face! They lie to you, especially woman. They tried saying we needed new breaks and rotors and the like was twisted. Which was a lie. We had just looked at it the day before when doing the oil change. Went for new tires. Told our brakes were bad and our battery was dead. Had them replace the tires & brakes ($1100) Didn't need a battery. It lasted for months after. Went to another local place for an oil change and was told that one of the nuts that held on one of the tires was stripped, surprised the tire didn't come off. Also the brakes weren't tightened. We ended up having to pay another $450 to fix the 'repairs'. We called to try to recoup some of the costs.....no response from them at all....terrible business! read more

Shady "mechanics" who try to conceal when they damage your car when management is not there. Avoid here! Spent $1,400 on brake repairs and small fixes. They stripped a stud down and didn't put lug nut back on.. therefore when I went to get my car inspected shortly after elsewhere it would not pass at another shop due to missing a lug nut. Drove it back over to Mavis immediately, they tell me they're "cleaning" the stud and putting lug nut back on.. meanwhile my car is on a lift and they're busting out saws for an hour. I asked the front desk worker if something was wrong I would like to know because this made me nervous and I often have my infant son in my vehicle. I was told "no nothing wrong". I was provided fraudulent documentation on their "cleaning fix". Went back to Valvoline minutes after for inspection once again for their mechanic to laugh and to tell me they did not "clean it" they broke it and decided to cut off a few inches rather than replace it, illegal as the valvoline employees told me. I drive back over furious and tell them this and could hear nervous mechanics claiming "wasn't me" who broke it the initial time and blah blah and to properly repair it would be about a 4 hour ordeal. I brought it back the following day when their manager Dave assured me it would not take that long and it would be replaced. Will be filing a complaint with AGs office because god know what other unsafe practices take place with peoples vehicles when management isn't around. read more

This place is a complete nightmare! The appearance of the riff raff that work there, don't judge a book by it's cover they say.... BS! One look at this shaggy crew & you know these guys don't stand a chance getting employed with a respectable company. Two years ago I brought my Chevy truck in to get all new tires, within a year outer rims of both front tires bald, i call them & they informed me i opted not to get alignment, so like an idiot i make an appointment with them to get them changed, $439.00 later with alignment $69 a year later same thing happened!!!! I've been back 3 times the scruffy slob at the counter gives me the same lines every time, he's lying!!! People this is not a place to save money this is a place that does shoddy work, or no work and then charge you for it. This is the same company turns out that charged a certain limousine company for repairs that were never done on a limousine that killed 20 people in Schoharie County!!! What's happened to this place? In a matter of months Mavis Discount Tires has gone from an efficiently run shop to a garage full of buffoons. I sat for 2 hours and watched sporadic work on 3 cars put up on lifts in a 6 lift shop. Workers taking coffee breaks, smoking breaks, twiddling on their phones with little to no work being performed. One guy at the front desk, another at a desk inside the shop doing nothing for hours. When asked I was told that they have one tire guy and two mechanics working with more coming in at 11:30. Did he just say ONE TIRE GUY?!? They have ONE TIRE GUY at a shop that has TIRES in the name of their business!?!? What is going on in this bizarre place? The customer next to me said they put the wrong size tire on the day before and said bring it back today and they would get him right in: 90 minutes later- NOTHING! Worse the tire guy is no where to be seen for the past 20 minutes. He's on another break! What a shame! Up until this visit I was a regular customer at this shop for tires on several of my vehicles. Now? NEVER AGAIN! Why would anyone come here? read more

I ordered tires for my Highlander as an online order. I ordered the wrong size and Sue was incredibly helpful and said she would be able to order the correct size on 9/21 for my appointment on 10/1. I explained I was doing this out of town because I was visiting family but also had limited time on my hands to get to a tire dealer. On Wednesday before my appointment Sue left a message to confirm my appointment. I assumed since my appointment was confirmed that my tires would be there. When I called back I spoke with a man. I asked what time my appointment was since I couldn't quite remember. He said 10. On 10/1, I arrived at 9:45 but was told my appointment was at 9, but they'll get me in. They confirmed my tire order and I left. At 10:45 I received a call to pick up my car because the tires were not here. They did not come in the delivery that arrived at 10:30 on that day. Why in the world would they have confirmed an appointment if the tires weren't there and let me drop off the vehicle and leave without knowing if they have the tires. Dave the manager was completely unapologetic. When I asked him why they wouldn't have called me the day before if they didn't have them, he blamed everyone else. He showed me a sheet that they were ordered at 6 the night before... so not his responsibility because he wasn't there. He said he was planning on them being on the 10:30 truck...for a 9am appointment!!! Then he said it's an internet order so all the confirmations are automated and he has nothing to do with them... even though the only people I spoke with were at the Queensbury location. Now I have lost 2 weeks waiting for tires that never showed and an entire morning when I was already crunched for time. What should have happened was Dave as the manager should've not blamed everyone else and just said sorry we messed up. I can't fix this today, but Here's a coupon if you'd like to give us another try. I will never use Mavis again. Not one person apologized. I was only offered excuse after excuse. read more

The brake special advertisement was misleading and I was in a time crunch because I had to go out of town. I was overcharged for a brake job and one tire. Upon examining my bill later on, I saw where they applied discounts, but they jacked up the price on other items to make up for the discounts. Then I heard the lame excuse of how it would be more expensive at other places and I was getting a good deal. I will never go back to this place again. I was pressured, manipulated and taken advantage of and now I'm stuck with a huge bill. Never again. read more

I'm rating five stars after hearing about my friend's [and her 12 month old son] experience this week with the wonderful folks at Mavis Tire... I'm going to go ahead and copy/paste the story from her facebook page [starring out her son's information]: "Well, ***** and I found ourselves in a tight spot this afternoon. I was in Glens Falls and somehow found a big brass key to run over, which punctured my tire. I limped the poor trailblazer over to Mavis Discount Tire, which was the closest place and asked if they could plug my tire. After discovering it was a key in the tire, the tech didn't believe it could be plugged, unfortunately. He proceeded to try and drop the full size spare from underneath my rig, but the mechanism was broken and it wouldn't drop. Out came the grinder and after some cutting, he finally got the spare off, which he had to reinflate because it was flat. He did all of this for us, and when I asked what my bill was, he said to me "We just want you and the baby to be safe. No charge." All that work they did for us, and no charge. I would recommend Mavis to everyone after my experience today!" This kind of service is almost unheard of today... everyone is in a hurry and it's easy to slip through one's work day disconnected from the strangers we encounter... forgetting that it is possible for us all to make a difference for someone else. I will definitely call Mavis Tire when the need presents and I encourage you to as well. A business that conducts itself like this [along with its staff] gets two thumbs up from me! read more

Upon taking off the wheels they didn't try to sell me on new breaks that were not yet needed and took the time to show me what a break pad was and why I didn't need them quite yet. I came in for a simple wheel alignment and I had to go back four times and I had a wheel alignment done at a different location and I had no problems my car was taken on a road test twice, and I kept having the same noise along with the mechanic and I didn't get a wheel alignment print out until I complained about it and when I did come back the fourth time I was giving a printout of the wheel alignment but it was left on my car dashboard, and none of the staff explained it to me because I felt that it was a token wheel alignment that probably didn't even happen so all I got was a real alignment printout after 4 days and the staff there especially some young guy named Chris was very unprofessional, and he also said he was only on the job 3 months how could you be a manager in 3 months and so I was told by a few people that that Mavis discount tire place was not a good place to get service unfortunately I had the file a complaint in order to get refunded and at that point they wanted to charge my refund for a set of tires so is it was a bad experience with an experience technicians, I also feel just because I was black I got treated unfairly!!!! U wonder why people are angry and frustrated and shooting up everything!!! read more

I have had my tires done here on two trucks and a Jeep , They are always honest and up front . They suggest things Like front end alignment or Brakes when they notice an issue but Never have been High pressure or dishonest . I trust these guys with my vehicles. Got stranded in Lake George when my tire was having huge issues. Originally got towed to the place next door but ended up at Mavis. What would've took 3-4 hours and extra money at the place next door turned into a 30 min wait at a great price. Customer service was spectacular, they're life savers!! Highly recommend. read more

I will start with the positive; The work they did on our car seems to have been done right. The negative; I made an appointment online for a certain set of tires. I dropped off the car and got a call over an hour later saying they didn't have those tires in stock. The employee from Mavis made it seem like it was my fault that they didn't have the tires in stock even though I made the appointment over a week in advance. He then tried to up-sell me on a more expensive set of tires. After a negotiation he said he would give me a deal. I then got a call an hour later saying I needed an alignment...so I agreed to that. I then got called saying I needed to brakes. After again a long negotiation he said he would do the tires and the alignment for the price of the original tires and just add on the cost of the brakes. So when I arrived to pick up the car, they didn't call I just happened to drive by and see the car sitting outside, I was a little surprised at the price but paid it. When I got home I found out I was overcharged by more than $50.00. It was after they had closed to I e-mailed the company. The next day I got a call saying "oops" they had overcharged me by more than $50.00. They said to come back in and they would refund it to my debit card. When I went in I was taken out to the garage area so other customers couldn't hear the conversation. I did get the amount refunded to my card. It is kind of sad, the car appears to be running good and the work that was done appears to be done right but due to their dishonesty with how much they overcharged me I will not be back. Also not having the tires in stock that I made a reservation for over a week in advance is unacceptable. read more

I went to this Mavis location for a muffler repair. After I left, by the time I got home, my bumper has melted because they left the exhaust tip pointed at my bumper. After some time trying to convince them that my bumper melted because of the new exhaust tip pointed at the hole two inches away, they agreed to replace the bumper. However after this repair, I got my car back with a crack in the windshield. With no way to conclusively prove this was their fault, I now had to buy a new windshield thanks to them. I will never go back, and I hope nobody else does too. read more

I never write reviews but there service is so bad. I got brakes done there 6000 miles ago. Well they went bad so I brought car back and they said they will do pads under warrenty and rotors. They wanted me to buy caliper which is fine. So they said 210 dollars for caliper and labor. I said I thought pads and rotors were under warrenty. Guy started argueing with me. So I hung up and called got prices for caliper pads and rotors. Was 101 dollars. So I called him back said don't do work I can get everything for 101 dollars. I'll do it my self. That was another argument. Finally he says what ever I'll do it for 150. Buyer beware of this place terrible customer service and they will screw u if u don't pay attention. read more

I went to Mavis for my car inspection and an oil change. I asked if they could also check the wear on my tires to see if I would need any new ones. After my car had been brought in, I thought to myself that maybe I shouldn't have said anything about the tires...that maybe they would just say that I did need to buy some w/o even really checking them. After all, I WAS in a tire store. When my car was ready (after a very short time), I was pleasantly surprised when I was given just the total for the inspection and oil change and wasn't given a sales pitch for new tires! When I inquired about the tires, the clerk said they were fine, I didn't need any. That right there proved to me that this was an honest dealership, and one that I would definitely be using again. read more

The service I had performed (swap 2 summer tires for snow tires) was performed well and reasonably quickly. This location has a small comfortable waiting room (4 chairs), coffee machine and free WiFi, so you can get some work done. To use the WiFi, though, you'll need to provide your name and email address, so expect some spam. The WiFi was sufficient for web browsing and email, but I wasn't able to stream any video even though I was the only customer in the waiting room. I agree with the reviewer below (Kevin M.) that they appear to do solid work. However, their utter lack of communication, organization, and courtesy ensured that we will never return. We called ahead with a punctured tire and were told to come right down. When we arrived, the employee behind the counter took our tire, assured us a patch job would be no problem, and suggested we grab lunch. By the time we returned, our tire would be ready to go. So far, so good. We returned to the shop almost an hour later to find our tire exactly where we'd left it. We spoke to the same employee, and it became clear he'd forgotten about us. He then made a big production of wheeling the tire into the garage and yelling at some of the guys to "get on it right away." We waited for another half an hour and watched our tire sit, untouched, in the garage. We flagged down the same employee, who grabbed it out of the garage (presumably to do the job himself), inspected it, and informed us the puncture mark was too close to the edge to be patched. We would have to buy a new tire. We said yes, fine, we need to get back on the road. Two hours had passed since we'd first arrived. We waited another forty-five minutes for the new tire to be attached to the wheel, then another twenty-five after my key was taken so that my car could be moved into the bay and the tire put on. (I should add that during this time, we spoke to others in the waiting room with appointments who had been waiting over three hours. We also walked past the open garage door, passing two employees smoking and shooting the breeze.) We then stationed ourselves at the check-in counter, providing a visual reminder of our existence. The employee behind the counter observed us standing there and said, in a joking manner, "You know, it would probably be faster if you put the tire on yourself." That is exactly what we did, and it took us all of ten minutes. Do yourself a favor and NEVER go to Mavis! read more

I had called the phone # listed on the Glen Street website 792-3189. I was calling from the road because I was alerted that my other vehicle had a flat tire from a broken valve stem. I spoke with someone who was very nice and gave me and estimate and told me to please bring in the vehicle before 4 pm. I had already alerted AAA to come to my home to change out the Spare tire so I could get it there on time. I show up at 3:45 and when I walked in no one was at the counter. I waited for a minute and a guy walked up to the counter and said absolutely nothing to me just staring. I explained I had called earlier and they told me to come in prior to 4 and quickly got to the point of why I was there. The guy looked at me in disgust and said " we closed an hour ago because we were so behind" .... I told him I had called and thank goodness I had the phone record of when I called. It was 1:35 ( I was in CT driving back and would be there by 3 pm and had to wait for AAA to change the spare tire. The guy said "what # did you call". I told him the # and he said "oh that was corporate and they don't know shit". I didn't know what else to say because this jerk wouldn't give me any more room to talk. I walked out and went somewhere else. I have been there several times before and trust me I understand customer service and this guy needs to be retrained or fired. I will never refer anyone there and I will not step foot in this business again. Horrible Customer Service!!!!What a great way to spend Mothers Day. read more

Im so upset. I took my husbands truck in to get tires it was the only place that had the ones he wanted. First the guy at the desk makes the suggestion to get an alingnment ok fine. 20 minutes later an new customer walks in and gives him the same suggestion so it made me think that thats there line everytime someone with a truck walks in. ok fine its my first time here and i thought well he dose need it. Well 20 min after that someone else comes out and says well your gonna need shocks...No thanks please get the tires on. Then they broke 2 of the sensors in the tires that let you know the tire pressure is low and the wanna charge me 40 for each to fix them. No please get the tires on. Then there front desk person comes out and tells me that because its a bigger truck it requiers 2 poeple to work on it. First of all we made on line reservations and they knew what size truck it was. So that is not an excuse at all and if you know you needed 2 poeple to work on it you should have had 2 working on it. I waited 2 hours. After they finally get the truck tires on and get it off the lift they go to do the front end alignment. No way I dont have time now. My husband had to be to work by 5 it is now 530. I know for a fact that it take 30 minutes max to do this job, if I didnt live so far away I would have gone to the place I always go. I very pissed off and angry. I was told I needed new struts and a lower ball joint-----I took the car to an independent mechanic and he said both were fine! Would I go back? Just had an awful experience with this location. I called and asked to set up an appointment for an oil change. They took down my name and number and told me I could come in whenever but the sooner the better. I drive 30 minutes to their location and drop off my car. The guy tells me it shouldn't take very long and tells me the price. So I decided I would walk down to Five Guys which is around a half mile away and get something to eat and kill some time. After that I stop at Rite Aid to pick up a couple things, taking my time, etc. After that I make my way back and notice my car is in the same place I parked it. I was gone over an hour so I thought that was strange. The guy who I dealt with immediately came up to me when he saw me and told me they couldn't do an oil change because their tank was full? He said they couldn't call me to tell me because they didn't have my number even though I gave it to them over the phone. I literally set up and appointment. Drive 30 minutes to get there. Drop off the car and have a conversation with them. Leave for over an hour. Come back and get told they can't do an oil change. Such a waste of time and I would never recommend this place to ANYONE!
