I have never had such great customer service from a car repair / tire shop. They help me out when no one else can in last minute situations. I have had holes in tires on many cars, replaced new tires, and changed all of my rotors and brakes. I will now be using them for all of my oil changes on my cars going forward. As of 4 years ago I experienced a dishonest attempt to upsell unneeded service. 4 years later & 100,000+ more miles after being told the car absolutely was in dire need of new struts, this Honda civic just bit the big one. And, until it died recently, it NEVER needed new struts!! Several mechanics at various Honda dealerships have verified this. This confirms what I learned 4 years ago...back then this Mavis center tried to upsell what was not needed! I have not been back, nor will I ever go back. I got a flat on my way home from work last Friday. I was loosing air pretty quickly and luckily was close enough to Mavis i could make it there. I arrived on site without an appointment very close to their closing time. I thought for sure they would turn me away so close to closing on a Friday. I told the person at the counter my problem and he said i am going to try and fix it outside. He saw i had a nail and patched it in the parking lot. While filling, found another screw in the same tire. He went back and got the material needed to patch that one also. He was having a hard time with the second one and said he would have to bring it into the shop. Within 15 minutes i was on my way home. Big shout out to Tyler. Guy went flying in and out. Called on Thursday regarding my scheduled appointment . This resulted in the manager Tyler giving attitude which already gave me a HUGE red flag. Only reason i stayed is due to the guy saying he could match the price for the discontinued tires they never let me know about prior. I ended up calling the day before to see id they could squeeze me in and they said no problem. Came in and within 30 minutes of my car being up on the lift and tires/rims off. Told me they received the wrong size.. couldnt have matched the size with the order i placed days prior?? Ended coming back few hours later when the correct size came. Car came out ready to go however they ended up BREAKING MY TPMS without letting me know. As well as FORGETTING a tire stem cap as well as SCRATCHING my rims. These guys are unreal. My husband called and set up an appt to have 4 tires replaced. He called on 11/26 and made the appt for 11/28. When he arrived at the appt time, he was told they only had 3 of the tires in stock. NO ONE called or cared. One hour wasted for no reason. He then made a second appt for the next day, 11/29 when they were due to have the last tire delivered. When he arrived on 11/29, at 3 pm (the time they told him to come back) they asked if he could leave the car for a few hours bc they were short staffed. Again, no advanced call or heads up. Another hour wasted, plus he is now driving around for 3 days on UNSAFE tires that have multiple bubbles in them. They guys SUCK read more

Brought my Tucson in on Sunday to get a slow leak repaired. Tire was plugged. I left the shop and as soon as I got onto route 23, I noticed that the steering wheel was full of grease. Went to a nearby establishment to clean up the mess myself. Today (Tuesday), while washing my SUV, I noticed that they never put the valve cap back on. S L O P P Y!!!!!. I just hope the plug holds. I called Mavis at 8:30 this morning and asked if they do state inspections. They responded that they do. I asked if I could bring my car in and they asked me to hold. They came back to the phone after two minutes and said that mechanic can do it in 45 minutes. So I rushed through what I had to do and got there at 9:15 and got there. They said it was a 45 minute wait before they could start on my car and then it would be another 30 minutes before they could finish my car. I asked why didn't you tell me that when I called and they had the stare on their face. I would not recommend this Mavis store to anyone. The Mavis in Oakland is much better, although they don't do state inspections. read more

If I could give this establishment minus 5 stars I would! STAY FAR AWAY!!!! My Husband was informed by his Fleet Management Company that his company car was due for service. He contacted them and was given 3 choices and he chose Mavis in Butler, NJ. We dropped his car off on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at approximately 3pm. He was told his car may be ready that day and they would contact him. We checked about 6:30pm and were told it would not be ready until the next day. At around 1pm, the next day, my husband called to check the status of his car. He was told the Fleet Management Company had not approved the service. He requested Sam contact them to expedite approval at which point he was told that Mavis does not do that. My Husband said it is almost 24 hours and I need my vehicle. After he was told by Sam that it would not be released until approval had been received, he said he was just going to come to get it. Sam responded that if he did he would call the police on him. My Husband called the Fleet Management Company to see about approval. He was told that it was approved at 9:49am CST. My Husband then got Sam, from Mavis, on the phone with the Fleet Management Company on conference call. Sam became extremely aggressive and abusive saying that the Fleet Management Company had not approved the service for the Dodge, with the Fleet Management Company on the phone. My Husband then said it is NOT a Dodge, it a 2020 Ford Fusion. It seems Sam was looking at the wrong paperwork all along. Sam continued with this abusive behavior with the Fleet Management Company still on the phone. My husband told the Fleet Management Company that they should blacklist this Mavis in Butler, NJ due to the horrible customer service they were witnessing from Sam. My Husband then said he is coming down to get his vehicle at which point Sam was yelling "Come On, Come On, I am waiting for you" in a threatening tone. After this exchange my Husband did not feel safe going into Mavis to get his vehicle and actually called the police to escort him into Mavis to pick up his key. My Husband called Mavis Consumer Solution Department at 914-984-2500 and explained the entire situation to them. They told him they would expedite this to the Regional Manager and he would get back to him in a few days. The Regional Manager did call back on Monday but my Husband could not talk to him, at that time, due to a meeting starting in minutes. Set up an appointment a week earlier. Showed up promptly at my set time only to find out my tires were not there. Twenty minutes later the truck shows up so I assume everything ready to go. Another twenty minutes go by as I ask the manager "so do you have my tires", oh let me check he stated. I have to add here that both the counter help and the tire techs are either checking their cell phones or standing around doing nothing. I dropped my girlfriends car off at 1030am for 2 new tires and a rotation. I was told I'd receive a phone call when it was done. No one called me all day. I decided to take a ride over to see what was going on, and I found that they had closed up shop and no one called me to tell me her car was done or communicate anything. I saw tires were put on but The rotation wasn't done. Google lists the shop is open until 6 but they actually close at 5. Let me give you a word of advice; stay away from this joint. My wife had a flat after hitting a pothole and they sent rim out for repair. They put on a flat doughnut and sent her home without checking air. I filled the tire when she got home and its been fine for a week and a half. After a few days and no call she had to call them and things got worse from there. After they received the rim they called my wife and told her that one of their employees threw her tire out and she needs a new one. A few more days and they ordered the wrong one and had to wait another 4 days. After almost two weeks her car was ready we thought. DO NOT GO HERE I ordered 4 tires over the phone and was given a quote for the tires plus mounting and balancing before tax. The rep stated I pay when the tires get installed. I called the Butler store the day the representative on the phone advised me the tires would arrive at the Butler location just to ensure the tires were there. The rep also stated I could go on the same day to have them installed. When I called, the service writer confirmed the tires were there but stated the mechanic told her the quote was wrong and it would be more money. I asked her how can you raise the price that I was quoted? She agreed with me and seemed to have displeasure with the mechanic. She told me to come down and I would be charged my quoted price. I took off of work to have the tires installed. When I arrived, she told me I needed high pressure valve stems, there was a tire disposal fee and tax. That all added almost $200 more than what I was quoted. I had a feeling she was attempting to pad the bill by adding the valve stems, which I don't think were necessary, just to appease the mechanic, but I was still reluctantly willing to pay the bill just to get the tires installed and get it over with. After 15 minutes of her manipulating my invoice, the mechanic came out of the shop and looked at her computer and said that the price was wrong and he told her he refused to do the work. I guess he still wasn't happy that she added high pressure valve stems to my order and it wasn't high enough. I finally got annoyed and left. At no time did the mechanic speak or make eye contact with me. On my way home I contacted the Mavis general customer service number and explained what happened. Ultimately the Regional Rep Mike Lopez contacted me shortly after and advised me that if I went back to the shop, the price would be what was quoted but he too stated I needed the valve stems. I told Mr. Lopez I was already home and wasn't going to play games. He was very nice and stated if I changed my mind I could go back and the work would be done expeditiously. There was no way I was going back to the store and having a mechanic with a chip on his shoulder after all that happened work on my vehicle. This all happened today.......After speaking with Mr. Lopez I contacted Tirebuyer.com and ordered the same tires for cheaper with free shipping as well as a coupon code for 7% off which basically washed out the tax. I had them sent directly to Firestone Complete Auto Care and when they arrive at their store they will contact me. They are mounting and balancing the tires for $80 plus tax. I will be saving almost $200 by doing it this way as opposed to if I had Mavis do it today. It would have been more convenient if Mavis didn't play games but at least I will be saving some money. I have a feeling the mechanic is doing something shady by having interest in the prices people are being quoted. Price quotes aren't his business, being a mechanic and installing tires is his only job description. I see other reviews on here with similar gripes which makes me question the mechanic's intentions and I believe he should be interrogated by corporate. I had an appointment yesterday (6/24/2020) to have 6 tires replaced on my Ford F350 dually truck. I was quoted a 1 1/2- 2 hour job. It took 4 hours - a simple tire/balance job!!! The job included new tires, new high pressure valve stems and balancing. The tires were replaced, the wheels were balanced (more to follow), but they had no valve stems in stock so they did change them nor did they mention that they weren't changing them, I had to ask. Why schedule me for that day if you didn't have the correct parts to do the job??? I paid over $1000 and did not receive new valve stems - a critical part in tire safety. In changing over the tires, two rear tires were incorrectly mounted with the white lettering facing the wrong way. They had to be broken down and redone. When I signed the work order, I specifically asked to make sure that the rear tires were oriented correctly so that I could reach the inside tire valve stem to check pressure without being blocked by the outside wheel. I was told "yeah, I've worked on tractor trailer trucks for 18 years, I know, I know". Well obviously he didn't know as when the truck was finished and pulled outside, the inside wheel valve stems were nowhere in sight - so in again the truck went to have the rear wheels oriented so that I could get to the valve stem. Last but not least, when I got the truck home (3 mile trip), i parked it only to find a new wheel weight laying in the driveway. Who knows which wheel it came off - now they all have to be re-balanced again. Oh, and while under the truck inspecting their work, I noticed that a wheel still had the original wheel weight on the inside rim. Tell me, how do you balance a wheel with the old weights still in place? You don't. You shouldn't go to Mavis in Butler for your tire needs or for that matter any mechanical work. They offer poor service, do not know what they are doing, and could put your life at risk. Think about it, I knew enough to see and look for these things - do you? Their Regional Sales Manager has been very accommodating and has set up an appointment at a different location for repairs to be made to rectify my vehicle's issues. I will report out again after my next appointment. 6/26/2020 Update - Mavis's Regional Sales Manager made a new appointment for me at their Oakland NJ store. I was there 8am today and greeted courteously and with remorse for the trouble I was put through. They took my truck in immediately, made the appropriate (correct) repairs, and had me out of the shop in less than 2 hours. It was a great customer experience, one that should have been there for the first visit. We are not all perfect - when we are not, we do the right thing and Mavis did. I sincerely hope that the staff at the Butler NJ store gets the training they so desperately need. If you visit the Oakland NJ store, I am sure that you will be treated well, the work will be done correctly the first time, and you will consider it a good customer experience. Situation: Over the weekend, my car was handling a bit on the squirmy side, then the tire air pressure sensor alarm went off. What a drag, man. I have run flat tires on my car so I figured I would pull over, get some air and deal with it when I get home - which is the point of run flats, no need to change to the spare or to be stranded in New Jersey. I pull into the parking lot of STS for said air and upon inspection, it is more than a flat tire, but rather the tire is worn down from being out of alignment, so air would not help much. Also, the tire sidewall was shot as well. UGGGGH. Luckily, I was at a tire place: STS. I walk in and sheepishly say to the friendly attendant, "uhhh, I got a flat. Uhh, I'm parked out there" and waved in the general direction of my car out in the lot. As Murphy's Law would have it, or not have it, or whatever, they did not have the exact Coninental Contisport blah blah blah run flat tire in stock. I guess no one stocks them because, they are.... well.... run flats, designed to get you home or to the dealer or something in this type of situation. As luck would have it, they had a similar tire in stock, and could fit me in right away. Things were looking up. The staff here were very friendly and knowledgeable. They even brought me into the shop to show me the tires on my car once it was up on the lift just, to make sure I understood that the tire was really toast and that it really needed to be replaced. I made an appointment online, & dropped my car off in the morning, It was quick, the price was right & the service is really just amazing everytime. I pulled in about 45min before they closed and Tim offered to take a look and noticed I had a nail in my driver side front. Went to the tech on duty who was busy finishing up on a customer vehicle and did not have time to fix my tire before closing. Tim took it upon himself to help remove the nail and plug the tire to get me back on the road. He could have sent me down the road and said "sorry, we are busy for the rest of the day and come back tomorrow" but instead provided great customer service and helped me with my concern about my tires. I brought my car in for a new set of tires last spring which was a big mistake. Below is what this place messed up on a simple tire installation for a car with 15" wheels. This is the worst tire job I have ever seen. When I pointed out the mistakes they were making. The manager was not helpful, argumentative, and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I even explained to the manager that I used to manage tire shops. - Replacement TPMS valve stems not replaced when I was charged for them. - When the TPMS Valve stems were replaced on my second trip the technician didn't balance the tires after taking the tires off the rim. I pointed this out to the manager before the car left the shop. The manager argued with me, I was watching the technician through the through the window in the showroom to the shop. - When the TPMS valve stems were finally replaced. One of my tire pressure sensors was not secured properly It was bouncing around the inside of the tire and needed replacement. - My wheel lock key was damaged. They needed to be taken off with a special tool and replaced with a new set. I wound going to the Oakland location to get the issues corrected. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I brought my truck in for 4 new tires and a wheel alignment. Shortly after dropping my truck off, I got a call from Pepe the manager. He told me I needed shocks and a wheel bearing - Ok no problem. I requested certain Bilstein shocks and an OEM wheel bearing. I agreed to the additonal costs and approved the work ($2200). At 5:50pm (10 mins prior to store closing) I receive a phone call from Pepe (manager), stating my truck is complete. However, he INSISTED on me paying over the phone prior to picking up truck (said he was up for promotion and could use the extra sales to close out the day). Stupid me, I paid the bill prior to looking over truck. Next day upon my arrival, I inspected my truck. Immediately I noticed they did not install the Bilstein shocks. Instead, I got no name POS aftermarket shocks. They deliberately removed the brand name stickers from the shocks they installed (like I wouldn't notice - idiots). Now at this point I questioned the wheel barring parts. After further inspection, sure enough the wheel bearing was also not OEM (I paid for a Mopar OEM). Instead they installed a cheap aftermarket wheel bearing. So now Pepe the manager is not available and I am dealing with a different manager. He apologized for the situation and promised he would make good on it.... Well that was BS - I brought the truck back to have the correct shocks and bearing installed. When the truck was "complete" the manager told me they only did 3 of the 4 shocks and gave me an additional invoice for $800+.. I was shocked.. After all that BS he had the audacity to give me another $800 bill on top of the $2200 I had already paid. The only thing they did correct was install the tires and alignment. All in all, these guys are scammers. Being a local business owner myself, I could never fathom the thought of pulling this kind of stunt with someone. I am currently disputing charges with credit card company and will bring them to court if need be. People like this should NOT be in business. "only" took them over an hour and fifteen, mind you only one other customer was there(who had been waiting two hours for an air filter).. after the car got into the bay I said hey, how much for an oil change since you're under it.. 49.99 not bad at all.. hour and a half later the tires are ready to be installed and I watched one of the "mechanics" start cutting out a hole in the splash/wind guard to drain the oil.... The pricing changes week to week, I was charged $25 per tire for mount & balance + $7 per tire for valve 2 weeks ago same size tire $20 per tire, when I questioned it I was completely ignore and handed the bill, when I called to schedule appt they told me $15 per tire, when at store they said OH that price is wrong that guy is in NY call center probably quoted you 14inch tire NO I said 17, I paid $20 per tire that day, he tried for $25 initially, on Mavis website they price quote mounted tires package 17 inch at 18.99!!!Your car will ALWAYS need something else always trying to jack up bill with inflated repair costs, last time they told me I needed the brake lines flushed and power steering fluid changed??!! HaHAHA, Really?and you will ALWAYS needs Alignment & probably Brakes too. Also my last visit was told come by 1:30, I was literally 1/3 mile away and had my Lyft ride on way and called me and wanted to cancel? When I said I'll be there in 2 mins and have a ride coming they said ok we will try and blamed it on NY call center again, BUT I had called Butler location directly so this is BS. The one older man there can be rude & condescending once you say no to extra charges, once they have your vehicle they try to jack up bill with repairs not needed. The vehicle was done that day, but I won't be using them again. Goodyear is across the street and there are a lot of other choices so I won't be going there again. Also mentioned to me that once they disconnected the brake sensor that they can't put it back on until it' s been repaired. A little while later, I'm told that the screw was damaged in the brake system and if they can't repair it, that they wouldn't allow me to take the car back home. I told them that they better fix it now and that I'm not leaving my car with them overnight. A little while later, they told me that they were able to put my car back together with the screw in place and also was able to attach my brake sensor again without any problems. The next day I took my car to the dealership at Paul Miller BMW in Wayne and was told that m front brakes are fine and are currently above the minimum levels. So Mavis was wrong.
