No stars!!! Had to give one for review to post. Will never use them again! Finally understand the low rating. Stopped in at opening on 3/9, was told they couldn't schedule an oil change because it was too busy. Scheduled an appointment for me at 10am the next day, Sunday 3/10. Was told dropping off the night before was even better. So I did drop it off. I called at 12:00 to check on car status to be told I was in the que and 4 cars were in front of me. I showed up at the garage at 3:30 and my car still had not been touched!!! And then I was told there were 7 people scheduled at 10am. Ryan at the desk tried to blame the 800 number for messing up but I never called that number. I have NEVER had this problem in all the garages I have ever used and he tried to tell me this is how it goes. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Nice guys, but they really need to get it together. I made an appointment to drop my car for a simple oil change and tire rotation which is maybe a 90 minute service. I left the car before closing the night before so they could have it ALL day the next day, and borrowed a car. When I called on my way home to pay for the service they told me they hadn't gotten to it. I made an appointment and left it for you all day! I get being busy, but I would rather you have told me when making the appointment so I didn't lose the car for an entire day, plus put someone out by borrowing their vehicle. Terrible customer service! I made an appointment online on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after I received a call asking about when I was bringing the car in. I was told that my tires would not be in until sometime in Thursday so my appointment at 5 would be fine. We went there today, no tires, no call to tell me tires weren't in. PATHETIC! Went in for a tire replacement...Never told me what they were doing and then broke the pressure indicator. In an attempt to get me out the door they claimed the light would stay on for a while and then go off. Of course it never went off. I called the day before I wanted to take it back to get the tire repaired ad asked if we could do an oil change. They said no problem we open at 7AM. I asked if I needed an appointment and again he said "first come, first served". I rolled in at 6:50 AM before the store lights were on. When he unlocked the door I told him why I was there and his first words were, "are you leaving it". Are you kidding me? I pointed out I was the only one there and was told "first come, first served". He indicated yes that is true but they have other cars ahead of me. What! He said it would be a while. Hey pal...I work for a living which is more than I can say for them. As I took my paperwork and walked out he gave a lame "well, you won't have to wait too long". We made the mistake of going to these guys for a cheaper deal on new tires for our newer vehicle. It was due for an oil change so we figured to throw that in too. Within an hour after dropping off the truck we get a phone call from the manager asking who changed our oil last, claiming that whoever did the change last did the job poorly using a faulty filter. He claimed that you could breathe on the filter and it would fall off. There was oil all over the bay and in the engine. So supposedly we have been driving our forester around for months with oil leaking into the engine. Yay He wanted a waiver signed stating that they weren't liable for the mess or any damage. After a subsequent conversation about how bad our brake pads were (so bad that the manager wouldn't allow one of his workers to test drive it) my husband comes home with a truck that is smoking. There is oil all over the place, under the hood and now on the driveway. There have been no signs or smells of oil leaking ever with this SUV. What is more plausible is that one of their mechanics started the engine with the filter off, shooting oil everywhere. Now we have it dropped off with their competitor who was in disbelief that the guys at Mavis even let us drive off in the condition it's in. They're now cleaning up the engine that the 'upstanding guys' at Mavis couldn't bother to clean themselves. Who cares if the thing could have caught fire with us and our two little kids in it? Do NOT go here. These people will ruin your vehicle and blame someone else for their incompetence. read more

4/29/18 I guess half a star is not acceptable. Oh well, where do I start. I walked in around 1040ish and I had made an appointment last night for 930 in the morning and they called last night to change the time cause they were "super busy." Anyway, I walked in and they took my car pretty quickly, and they checked my oil, I know I had no oil in the car, I added oil and my car and it was still dry.. well that's my fault. The manager of the place said we can just top off your oil and send you on your way no charge. Well I could have done that myself, as well as an oil change but I had no time. (On a side note with them "topping" my oil off they would have left the filter in if I hadn't said anything, I said what is the filters job? He responded to filter oil, I said exactly so why would you not do an oil change if I'm due? ) I had also asked him to look at my front DRIVER tire because I think the tie rod is bad. Needless to say, when my car came off the lift I asked the one mechanic if the manager looked at my tire, and he said everything was tight and good. So I took it upon myself to jack my car up and feel my tire, it was still loose. I went back and said " y'all told me he looked at my tire, and it's still wobbly". The manager blatantly called me a liar in the lobby and that's not what I said but my friend attested to what I said. I demanded my car go back on the lift, and the manager told me he's far to busy for a simple stupid problem. And he told me I should go to my own mechanic, who would have done and oil change for me no charge. I'm shocked at this level of customer service, this place needs to close down for good, terrible people work here. I will never return I will from now on go to my OWN PERSONAL MECHANIC. I went in a pinch, next time I will make sure to get down to my home town and get things done right. read more

The Mavis Tire in Sparta is fabulous. The guys there always give you the facts, reasonable pricing and breakdown of all the work, etc. They always get back to you on time and finish when they say they will. We don't take our cars any where else!! read more

Went in for new tires and an oil change. Booked an appointment online and had ordered the tires. (The least expensive tires because my vehicle is old). Immediately they tell me I have to wait because there are vehicles ahead of me. They finally pull my vehicle in, the tech comes into the waiting room telling me "do you know that your battery is spewing hydrochloric acid"? Its a two year old battery purchased and installed at their Franklin shop for less than $100. He tells me its an "odd sized battery" and I'm looking at $200 to replace it and I'll need to sign a waiver so they're not responsible should the battery explode while I'm driving....I'm being absolutely serious here! They try to talk me into changing the tires I selected into more expensive ones. Then they try to get me to apply for their credit card despite my instance that my credit isn't good enough...so it gets denied and then magically the tech comes in and tells me he can't do the oil change because the "pin is rusty" and they can't get my vehicle on their lift because of "rust". So I leave after wasting almost 2 hours. I go over to Tire King in Sussex, I get the new tires, oil changed and the battery was fine...no problem. I foolishly went here a few years ago for a new radiator and it cost almost $900. This place is a rip off. The truth is they were busy, there were lots of nice cars, and my old vehicle needed inexpensive tires and they just couldn't be bothered. Avoid this place at all costs!! While I was waiting, a lady came in needing a rear tire patched..they wound up convincing her to buy two new tires and get an alignment...on rear wheels on a brand new car!! Pathetic! I purchased new replacement tires at Mavis discount tire. They were very professional and nice. It took a while to get my car serviced I guess because they were backed up with many cars that's my only complaint is they took forever to service my car due to the overload. But they gave me a free alignment. I am very happy with my service I will return again. read more

They were very busy but Kevin R. still took a look at my car, he showed me the problem, gave me a great price. They completed the work. I took my car in for new tires. The manager called and said the car needed new brakes. Since the car had 40K miles on it, I told him to replace them. After paying the $1,200 bill for the brakes and backing the car out of its parking space, the brakes squealed like crazy. The manager said this would go away in a few miles. It did not. I brought the car back numerous times. Finally, they told me there was nothing they could do and not to bring the car back again. I took the car to another repair shop. They found only the brake pads had been replaced and that the original rotors were still on the car. The brake pads they installed were cheap Chinese after market parts. I found out later that Mavis is the lowest rated auto repair chain (See February 2019 Consumer Reports). read more

Please, strongly consider other local mechanics, even for the simplest of services. I left my car in the hands of Mavis in Sparta for a tire rotation and brake pads. I received it back in worse condition than I left it there. When I retrieved my car, it was: - 4 days late; - with no receipt nor paperwork; - with somehow no knowledge or information about what services were performed on my car, per the manager, Kevin, even after asking around; - soaked from apparently some time in the rain with the driver window down (I left the windows up and car locked) -- 0.25" of water in the drivers' side armrest and a soaked seat -- and now has an odor; - after 4 days of misinformation about service schedule and completion, price quotes, and when they would call me with news (several promises of "by the end of the day" or "tomorrow by 10am" never came); - without a promised quote nor diagnosis for a suspected potentially "serious" problem they told me they discovered; - left unlocked in their parking lot on Main Street with the key inside (the manager disclosed this after not being able to locate my key for several minutes without success); and - without anything even close to an apology. I don't believe I've ever written a Yelp review before. I believe anybody can have a bad day, and everybody deserves a second chance. However, at this shop, the manager had multiple opportunities correct mistakes and/or regain my trust with honesty. Never even a "sorry about that" or even a returned call. Instead, he continued to display unapologetically immoral behavior, day after day, while I was without a car. I hope at least one person will see this and not endure what I did. I will never return here or to any other Mavis for services. read more

Really had a good experience here I was in and out quickly. They were not only honest and kind to me a paying customer but to a woman who came in in a panic bc she was trying to take her daughter to school and her tire pressure light came on. The employees went out to take a look at her tire pressure and put some air in a tire for her at no charge. This will be our car place as long as we live in the area. read more

made a appointment yesterday they had the tires I wanted told them what else I needed done tire pressure sensor replaced ... got there 15 min before my appointment 1st thing was they could not find me in there system then they said they had the tires but now they could not find them then low and behold they found me and the tires . then it took them about a hr to get my truck in the shop meanwhile other customers where coming in and having work done on there cars and leaving because they where done with there cars so 3 hrs after I got there they where done with the 4 tires then they told me I needed an alighnment ... Terrible service! Had appt for 10:00-11:00 am Saturday to get 4 tires installed and a front end alignment. Max 1 - 1.5 hour job at any reputable shop. 3.5 hours later, they said it might be another 2 hours before they'd be finished with the installation. STAFF WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND DO NOTHING. I waited for an extensive period of time for tires to be mounted and balanced. When i told the tech he was wrong and tried to educate him on a European car that they do not specialize in he was completely rude and slammed the garage door. They tried to get me to buy tpms sensors i didn't need and when i tried to tell them otherwise and educate them the tech got mad. I would avoid this place at all costs and never will come back. If i could give them 0 stars i would. Completely immature and rude. As i woman i do not feel safe being here. He told us our car would be ready at a certain time, we called back to verify that the car was ready, he said he was behind a little but would call us before he closed and car would be ready. He never called and closed shop and left us hanging. Next morning went to the shop to ask him why he left for the day without calling us and he was rude and just smirked at us. I have been doing business with this location for about 3 years. Having oil changes and tires done on personal vehicles as well as company owned fleet vehicles. I recently had brought my personal truck in for an oil change and the technician let us know that we needed brakes, at this point the manager Rich steps in and offers us a "special deal" . $149.95 for each brake. So I tell him to do it. I paid over the phone so my wife could pick up the truck later. $600. 4 brakes right? Wrong! So a few weeks later my Wife said she is hearing squeaking coming from the brakes, so she takes it in to mavis for them to check out. Rich calls me a few hours later and says the front brakes need to be replace, I obviously ask how could that be because we just replaced them. He goes on to tell me how he only replaced the rear brakes and rotors and that the front brakes weren't included in that price. so my question was whether or not I needed front brakes a few weeks ago and he did not have answer. His tone totally changed at This point becoming rude and condescending and he started come up with a bullshit story that he had this discussion with me already and we decided to only do the rear brakes. totally untrue. My thinking was he wanted to wait for the rotors to get bad enough so we needed to replace those on the front as well. Needless to say we will never do business with this location ever again and suggest no one else do either. read more

should be ZERO stars. took my car there several times. every single time the car ran WORSE when i got it back and i had to make MULTIPLE trips there to get issue resolved. i was never able to get my car fixed by them correctly the first time and this was even for very simple items like changing spark plugs. and every single time the final cost was higher than their estimate to do the work. read more

Very nice, prompt and helpful. Stopped in as my car said "STOP - check coolant". They checked it out and filled the coolant for free. I brought another car there for an oil change and there was a minor hiccup after. They made it right asap and then some, giving me a free oil change on my other car. In late 2017, Took daughters SUV in to have oil changed at Sparta Mavis. Mechanic put wrong oil plug in and apparently forced it on. Daughter drove it back to College with unnoticed oil leak. The undercarriage cover came off at high speed on the Interstate almost causing accident with her boyfriend who was following behind her in his vehicle. Later at school her oil light came on. Taking it to a local mechanic. I was in contact with him and he texted me a picture of the jammed oil plug. I had to buy a new oil pan with installation cost. Coming back into Sparta we requested a new undercarriage cover. I kid you not, after they installed it. Within a week, it half came off again and folded in half underneath the car. They had to replace it again. All in all the oil change cost me close to 500$. No apologies were given. They did cover the cost of 2 cover replacements. read more

This place is a scam. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I brought my car in for new tires right before a snow storm that I knew I had to drive in. I had absolutely no choice but to buy tires here. They refused to put any other tires on my car except for really expensive ones and didn't give me a choice on which tires I could purchase. They said it was the only tires they had besides really crappy ones. They said if they put the crappy tires on that I would be back the next day. My question is, why does Mavis sell tires they wouldn't recommend? When I asked if there were any discounts available, the worker said if he discounted the tires that the money would come from his paycheck. I seriously doubt this is the case. I called the customer service number to complain (I have never made a formal complaint in my entire life, but this place is awful) and they said the store manager would give me a call back. Why would I want the store manager to call me when I am pretty sure he was the one who was rude in the first place? These people take advantage in every way they can when they see a situation that they can manipulate. Don't waste your time bringing your car here. read more

The people that work at this STS location could use a lesson in customer etiquette. I went there for a simple oil and fuel filter change and when I walked in, the block of wood behind the desk just looked at me. No "hello sir, how may I help you?" or anything. These people seem to have forgotten that is is we customers that pay their salaries! Then when I asked the block of wood behind the counter how long the work I wanted to have done would take, I was unable to get a coherent answer out of the guy. Horrible! We had an CarCo inspection done and told them that the insurance needed the report right away. Instead of uploading the report to the CarCo system, STS mails the papers to the insurance, which took too long. We had great trouble with our insurance keeping the collision coverage going without that report in their system. TSTS also did not give us a paper copy of the report. I would have been able to scan and e-mail that to the insurance and avoided lots of phone calls to them read more

I have done business with this Mavis location since it was STS Recently I had an oil change and brake job done (about a week ago). I noticed on my way home Friday a knocking sound coming from the engine, since I had just had an oil change done, I brought the car back first thing Saturday morning. I was told they would take a look and get back to me. This location closes at 5:00pm on Saturday so I called at 3:00pm for an update and was told they would take a look at it before they close and get back to me, no one called. I called the location this morning asking if they got a chance to take a look, and they said no (no apologie for not getting back to me), and said it would be the 3rd car in this morning. I called the location at 1:00 pm today and they said it had not gone in yet but assured me they would take a look. At 4:00pm I called again and they said they looked at the on board computer (this takes less the one minute and I did as well), stating the oil levels looked good and that I should take it to the dealer. My issue is now I have to borrow a car from a friend as it is Sunday at 4:30pm and I can not get a rental. All they had to do was be honest with me and tell me yesterday the status and they did not know what was wrong. The manager on duty "Kevin" was rude and condescending and really could not care that I was a loyal customer for all these years. Mavis's service now seems to be about just pushing customers through and could not care about sime things like honest communication, so sad that I will never go here again! read more

Told employee three times my vehicle required 0W-20 and according to my receipt was filled with 5W-20 (aware it's second viscosity per OEM). Also, they use Quaker State which is low level and cheap quality. Completely unacceptable and will not return. read more
