I got a flat tire on my way to my sons foot aml game. The store I went to made it seem like she was doing me a favor. I have a 4x4 and dealer just told me that Mavis should've told me to get the 4 new tires instead of one because now my vehicle is shaking and basically took $200 knowing one tire should not have been done. They also sent me out not asking about a warranty on the tire, an alignment or even rotation. Also they sent me out with a tire pressure of 45 when it should have been 33. The excuse the manager gave us that it was busy. Did not try and fix it. I'm highly frustrated and out of $ and have to come up with morr money to get 4 new tires. I would like a general manager or regional manager to contact me to further discuss. Very unhappy and would not recommend Mavis tire, looks like they are out just for money. read more

Took car in on Wed Feb 26, 2020. I had a slow leak in a tire. I was treated with such care and concern. They fixed the leak and said.. no charge!!! I was so pleased to be treated like that. It came at good time as my wife has terminal cancer. We need to have that encouraging act of kindness. I will go back to get new tires and other work done there. Thanks Mavis!! I had an appointment at 10:00 am on Lakeshore Dr for 4 new tires. I asked how long it would take and was told 1 hour. 3.5 hours later I am still there. I was quoted $40 for warranty on tires and then they said it would be 168.00. Then I asked about the rebate. They tried to tell me that was only on certain tires. The big sign on wall included my tires. Finally after I get my new tires costing 200.00 more than expected I am driving out and it sounds like my tires are falling off. I stop my car and they have left the bolt to remove tire in the back to roll around. Needless to say, I will never go back. Hope I can find another location to honor my warranty. I got 2 new tires on my son's truck and after I could not put air in them..Andrew at irmo store made us feel stupid and said chevy is at fault and they have a different kind of valve. Another mechanic at that store let me know it's a valve kit problem bit because this Andrew guy didn't want to give in we couldn't get it resolved at that store...it ended with Andrew telling us all pumps are gonna be updated so they can work on my type of valve...really???? The good part is I called mavis customer service and justin a regional manager called me and he advised us to go to mavis in lexington and talk to Duane...we did and he put a new valve kit on I. Under 5 minutes..problem fixed...hope they call Andrew to advise of this fix...thank you Justin and Duane...not going back to irmo store again... read more

Came in at 8 am with a low tire. I had scheduled online for 9:00 - but I was first in the door and they checked me right in so it was promising to begin with. However, this will be my last visit here. It is 9:38 and apparently my car is now finally finished with no one still communicating what the problem was and I am sitting in the lobby waiting on the counter personnel to eventually let me know something. After having the company change my starter, it broke again after two weeks. Then, they wouldn't give me my money back! They are the worst! I contacted customer service and they told me I have to pay the mechanic who I had to go to to fix the starter to get the starter back from him and then they will pay me for the cost of the part?!? I'm already out $380 to Mavis and paid for ubers to and from the new mechanic - just reimburse me for the terrible service ! On top of paying to have the starter repaired twice! read more

THESE GUYS TRIED TO CHARGE ME $750 FOR AN ALTERNATOR AND BELTS. I called another Mavis in Brooklyn, NY and was told that the cost would be $320! I presented this information to the Mavis in Union, NJ and they acted like they didn't understand the price discrepancy. When I told them that they needed to let me know why they were charging $430 more than another Mavis, they back pedaled and offered me the $320 price. I believe that they thought that I would not price check. Because my vehicle has New York plates, they assumed that they could rob me because I was from out of town. I was about to head out of town when I noticed a nail had punctured my tire. I ended up at Mavis due to a recommendation. They have a couple of areas for you to relax and watch tv, kids to play, and even get a little work done (free wifi and charging stations). They got me in and out much faster than I expected. They tried to fix the hole before deciding to replace the whole tire. After a brief education on tires, I chose the tire I wanted and it was recommended that I purchase the protection plan (an extra $18). Not sure I should've chosen it, but they do push it. Overall great experience. I would highly recommend to my friends and family. read more

I had an 11 00 appointment for 4 tires and to check the battery. They call me a half hour later to tell me the battery s bad. Ok, it's almost 3 years old and I thought is was going but I call back 3 hours later to see if my cars ready and they tell me they haven't looked at it yet. So it's almost 4 hours after my appointment and they haven't looked at my car but they told me they looked at my battery. Seems like they just told me it was bad to sell me a battery. I don't see them pulling it in to check it and then pull it back out and park it for 3 hours. And why take appointments if you have no intention of keeping them. Little falls location seems shady. Had punctured my sidewall in the snow and needed a new tire, went in and estimated time was 1-2 hours and didn't give a price. 3.5 hours after dropping the car i never got a cal so i went in myself to ask if ready, still not ready. After 4 total hours it's finally done and the price is over $200 for one tire! So much for "Discount" tire. Find a local tire shop elsewhere and save your money. read more

Beware, all the reviews about the needless upselling are true!  I brought both my cars in last week.  First car for an oil change and was told I need a brake fluid flush, cabin air filter, and intake air filter.  Almost  $200 extra on an oil change!  I've been a car guy my whole life. Those things were all still fine.   On my 2nd car, I wanted 4 new tires and an oil change.   I reserved the advertised tires online and when I got there the manager Bill called me outside to tell me those advertised tires were crap and that the car would shake and shimmy down the road if I bought them.  He recommended I took. Then while the car was still in the parking lot he told me I needed an $89.00 alignment before he even looked at the car.  The wear on those old tires was perfectly uniform and the car drove straight as an arrow.  It absolutely did not need an alignment.  He then called me an hour later to tell me that the rear shocks are leaking and they would prematurely ruin the new tires.  Another $325 up charge!  I declined and checked them myself at home.  The shocks were fine.  Perfect dampening and NO LEAKS!  A straight up lie!  Upon check out he tried to get another $40.00 from me for a BS Tire Protection Program.  They used scare tactics every step of the way to try to sell me $650 worth of things I did not need. Excellent service. I had an emergency and there was a sound coming out Underneath my truck. I brought it in immediately one of the service professional advisers came over to me with a nice smile and ask me how could I help you today sir. That was incredible when they came to my attention. They immediately brought the truck in within 15 minutes they were able to determine what it was. I asked them what it would run and they gave me a price Well within my budget. I am blue collar I work very hard and when I see a company working hard for me I have to shout it out. Johnstown, NY location: Tried to get an oil change, made an appointment, drove out 30 minutes only to learn it would be hours. Didn't attempt to accommodate an appointment, just "they called in, that's the way it is." Go up the road to Monroe. After they learned what happened at Mavis, not only did they accommodate me, they said it's not the first complaint they've heard and they have poached a lot of business from Mavis For this reason. Please go ANYWHERE but here. I had to get all 4 of my tires changed out and was given a price. I ended up having to reschedule my appointment - no big deal, HOWEVER, when I went to pick my car up from the rescheduled appointment they were trying to charge me $200 MORE than what I was originally told it would cost. SAME service, SAME tires. They ended up reducing the price because I was never informed that it would cost more than they originally told me. But unfortunately, my experience with this company didn't end here. While heading home, I had to pull over two minutes down the road because my car felt unstable and wobbly. I got out and checked my tires and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY LUG NUTS ON ALL 4 OF MY TIRES WAS COMPLETELY LOOSE. So loose, in fact, that I could completely unscrew them WITH MY FINGERS. I ended up having to wait for my boyfriend to come and screw them in enough to "safely" get my car back to the shop so they could fix them. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Mavis Discount Tire, Short Hills NJ. Service done on 11/05/2021. Pros: very friendly staff, nice clean waiting area. Cons: took 3&1/2 hours to mount and balance 4 tires. I was called when the car was ready and was told I needed an alignment because of the new tires. This is completely DISHONEST. Tires have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with alignment. Then when I went to pay, they tried to charge me more than the website quote. I showed documentation. They quickly changed my cost and saw I was unhappy and reduced the cost some more. I took the car for a test drive. Alignment was perfect (as I told them it was prior to the new tires). However there was a strong pulsing when brakes were applied. I took the wheels off, cleaned the rotors and re-torqued the wheels. Car is now fine. They either improperly torqued the wheel lugs and/or got grease on the rotors. Extremely dissatisfied. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Luckily for me I know a lot about cars, but I'm sure they rip people off all day long who do not. read more

We brought our vehicle in for tires and alignment and had to wait 3 hours and the tires were not balanced properly. When we brought it back, we made an appointment for 10:00 am, dropped it off and they told us it would take 2 hours and that it was a "reservation". After two hours, we called and they told us they couldn't find the keys (had dropped them off at 10:00). Waited another hour for a simple rebalance of tires. The business is unorganized, didn't deliver as expected and the follow up with very poor. I'll not return. read more

In Charlotte, Mavis recently bought our local tire store. Previously, from the predecessor store I bought Michelin 80k mile tires and a lifetime rotate and balance package. Ive read sketchy reviews about Mavis. LOng story short, my car was taken into the shop at the time of the appointment, performed the tire services, removed a very small nail in one at no charge, and an oil change at a competitive price. My wife, my son and I have been using Mavis Tire, in Pawling, NY, for many years. Many times there will be a three of four hour wait for things as simple as an oil change. I am ok with that when they tell me and I just come back another time. With this in mind I made an appointment to have tires mounted,balanced and a wheel alignment done. I called ahead and made an appointment and specifically asked if I was going to have to wait since I was going to do it on my lunch hour. I was told no, I would be taken as soon as the car they had on the lift was done. I arrived at exactly 12 noon and was informed that their only tire guy just went to lunch. I wasn't happy but figured I was there so I would wait the hour (my job is pretty good about long lunches in situations like this). It took 3 hours and 45 minutes to mount the tires and I cancelled the wheel alignment. Needless to say they have lost three customers, my wife, my son and myself. read more

Horrible experience with Mavis Discount Tire. Sicklerville, Nj location was very unprofessional, had my vehicle for 4 days just to tell me to pick it up without explanation. They never did the job I needed done and gave me constant run around. The store manager was awful. I will NEVER go to a Mavis EVER again. They were dishonest I was told they had no access to their truck bay. When I came to pick up my F250 sure enough they had another truck in that same bay. It's ridiculous. read more

Warning! Don't buy tire insurance ! One year ago I purchased full set of tires for Subaru Outback 13. Initial price was good, but I had to wait for a few days before they found and delivered tires I wanted. When I finally brought my car to West Caldwell location and after tire installation they tried to charge me 20% more from init price. After argument they finally agreed to change what I initially agreed to pay for tires, but they tried to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Very high sales pressure tactics. I declined most of them except tires insurance. Last week I got one of my tires damaged. I went back to same location. They said that they have to prorate it and also charge me full price for balancing and mounting and also more for insurance. They measured tire wear as 25% . With that price of installed tire came up to almost for what I paid for new one one year ago. I went to N Caldwell location and it's even worse . Guy measures wear as 44% . This is one year later. Alignment was done at the same time. So I paid $130 for a new tire , same as I paid a year earlier. So what's the point for insurance. Same price, huge headache. On top of everything, second guy did not bother to show me how he measured tire wear. No more tire insurance for me and my family and definitely no Mavis. read more

This place was a complete RIP off! I wish I read previous reviews before I returned to get my yearly inspection. I took it to Mavis last year and only needed wiper blades. I too was oversold for 2 wipers! I went back today for an inspection and they claimed my car needed tons of work to pass inspection. New struts drums whatever you name it. Quoted me 1800 bucks! Then stated it would only be $800 to pass inspection. Ridiculous! This car has put less than 5000 miles on it in the past year! Also having tires rotating has nothing to do with inpection! Brought my car in to Mavis for a wheel alignment because my right front tire was crooked due to an encounter with a tall curb. Picked up the vehicle and the tire was still crooked. Mavis told me to bring the car to my dealer because it would need at least a new strut to correct the crooked tire. I asked, "why did you perform an alignment when a more intricate repair was needed?" Apparently they did not realize the tire was crooked until after the alignment was performed and somehow passed. I asked, "how can I pass an alignment with a crooked tire" and Mavis told me it was possible. Not true! This particular tire had so much negative camber you can see it with the human eye. How could the car pass an alignment test? Liars. I have 5 vehicles and have used Mavis continuously. Not anymore. read more

Went in for a alignment since my usual alignment place could not take me in..he was too busy and I just had new suspension components installed. The technicians first locked my keys in the vehicle, instead of asking me if I had a spare or another way to open the car, I see them through the glass window showing the install bay, attempting to pry open my door, this was very unprofessional and they could of damaged my door or window if I did not see what they were doing and attempted to stop them. After the alignment was said to be complete, I thought great..all set. Wrong again on the way home..driving straight the steering wheel was no pointed slightly to the right. Rear wheels now, left wheel had a large amount of visual negative camber and the right one almost had positive camber. I called to complain they said I could come back and they would fix..honestly at this point I feel there just incompetent to do a proper alignment. If I can possibly just get my money back for this head ache of a "alignment" that would be great. I'm schedule to go back the next morning but at this point, I don't even want to deal with these guys anymore..I even used my own tools when I got home to double check the camber make sure I wasn't going crazy. I shouldn't have to double check these technicians work, they should take pride in what they do and do a correct job the first time, I am not sure how these technicians are trained, where they are trained? I am very mechanically inclined so I can see there errors, I pay for services I can not do myself due to lack of equipment. One of those services is a wheel alignment. Anyway still beyond pissed, I never write reviews either, but I was upset enough by this whole experience to write one. Word of advice..I would not go here for proper work done..this has left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

STEER CLEAR no pun intended OF MAVIS-UNION, NJ. I wish there were negative stars to give this facility. The counter staff is nice as pie, the so called techs are all a bunch of amateurs. I brought my vehicle in because I had a nail in my tire. 2 hrs later a fellow "D" told me they had a hard time plugging it as the nail went through the belt, they had to drill it out. He also told me they would plug and patch it. B*******, they put a plug in and some glop that is far from a patch. Fast forward 2 weeks, that tire is losing air at the rate of 7 psi per day. I am filling it and re-filling it. I go back to Mavis and I am told by one of their so-called techs that there is nothing wrong with the tire. I said check the valve. I am a lay person I have make a suggestion what to look for, really now? So called tech returns and tells me have a problem, there might be a hole right next to the patch and they can't patch closer than 18" (it wasn't patched the first time dude). A second hole? Really, might it be you didn't correct the problem the first go round? I purchased a new tire rather than continuing to fill the leaking tire. They credited the cost of fixing the flat against the new tire cost, since it was only 2 weeks later. I believe these amateurs ruined my tire and it cost me for their mistake. I spoke with "J" a regional mgr out of their corporate office. I give him a big ZERO for customer service skills. He didn't offer anything to MAKE IT RIGHT! He was dismissive and trying to out talk me. I told him I will never return and never recommend that facility. Get it right the first time MAVIS-UNION, NJ. Maybe then you can get repeat business. Brought my car to get tired fixed. Waited 5 1/2 hours to only be told sorry we didn't get to your car today you will have to wait until tomorrow. Get the car back with tire fixed. Get to work and had my co-worker tell me when they came in that your tire is flat. Called customer service 3 times in the span on 5 hours as regional manger never got back to me. They are last time calling, I was told I need to pay for towing to one of there locations because no one can come and look at the tire and they don't offer any assistance and the this is a business and the regional may not call back. Really???? I didn't realize Mavis was a business. I thought they were a circus. Tyler was very unprofessional in his customer service. I called the number listed for Mavis tires and spent about 15 minutes speaking with Linda getting quotes for 4 tires. I decided on a specific tire and requested the price "out the door " to have them installed. She gave me the price including any "extras" and I scheduled for the same day 3 hours later. She said she'll be notifying the store so they'll pull the tires and have them ready for me. I asked if she's at the store and she said no she's at a central location for Mavis. I arrive at the Mavis in Langhorne Pennsylvania and immediately told the price is higher than what I was told. Telling me the central number doesn't know the extra fees. I go back and forth with the manager Jim, and work out that I'll only pay $14 above my $615 original quote. He tells me he'll have me in in 20 minutes. After 20 minutes he asks me "who told you we have them in stock?" Then he tells me he's having them sent from a warehouse and it sure how long it will take to arrive. I tell him I'm reconsidering. As I'm looking up other options in my car in the parking lot for 20 minutes, he comes up to my car and says they should be here in 30 minutes. I figure I'm there already and have blown plenty of time so I wait. After 40 minutes I split and go to another tire shop that I researched while waiting. I get new tires put on at the other shop and I get a call from the Mavis in Langhorne, 2.5 hours after they were supposed to have them. It's amazing the total lack of respect they have for their customers. If u want to blow your entire day and be treated with disrespect, go to Mavis! I suggest you visit another option. read more

my surburban had a blown out brake line. called Mavis tire and Auto in Shrewsbury and they said yes they can fix it. After I arrived they took the vehicle in and immediately said they could not fix my brake line due to a rust spot on the frame and the mechanic said and I quote "I am not going to risk my life to fix your truck. ". needless to say I was quite disappointed. but I didn't argue because his reason seemed valid. So I asked why couldn't they raise the truck on the many heavy duty jacks they had laying around. I was told that is not what they do. I again didn't argue and said ok. so I called TRIPLE A to come toe my vehicle. And as I sat there waiting I noticed of the 6 mechanic bays they have ZERO were occupied. As I looked around there were no other customers except me in the place.It was just about noon so it wasn't like close to closing time. So I went and looked inside the work area and All 5 mechanics were just standing there talking and shooting the breeze while I sat there waiting. Waiting for a tow truck to pick up my disabled vehicle because their expert mechanics refused to do anything to help. By using the jacks they were in no way endangering THEIR LIVES!! mind you they have all the equipment and expertise to raise my truck and replace the broken line. I was the only one there. They just refused to do anything other than what was easy for them. No regard for me as a client or no consideration for the company. I got so upset I asked them to sell me a quart of brake fluid and I would drive it home. They did give the the fluid for free and I drove home. At no time was anyone rude but as for knowing how to do their job and reaching out to help a customer they just were not going to do it. I got my truck home and this morning bought the replacement line and replaced it in about an hour. Laying in the dirt on my stomach and I was never in danger and I didn't have all the professional equipment that MAVIS provides their expert MECHANICS!! Visited the Mavis in Dresher, PA for an oil change. I was told my bill was $81. Was charged $87. When I first called to inquire I spoke to a lovely lady who agreed that things did not add up properly and that she would have the regional manager call me. He called the following day and was argumentative, hostile and extremely unhelpful telling me that a $90 oil change was what they charge and I'm basically SOL. I said I was told it was $81 (which I still think is high even for synthetic) but was charged $87. When I inquired how the cost (oil, labor, additional oil, etc) did not add up to the $87 he kept trying to hang up on me and tell me that this is what it costs. No where is it listed on the website or on site how much a synthetic oil change costs. It ended with him telling me to have a nice day and hanging up on me. He was rude and kept telling me he was trying to help (which he certainly wasn't) read more

Sold me one tire and put a different one on my car. Requested OEM parts due to lease stipulation. They put on the same make and model, but different speed rating. Pointed out by a end of lease inspector. May be liable for replacing three expensive tires replaced by Mavis upon lease return.
