During that time, the front desk actually called my phone asking if I was "still coming in" -- while I was sitting in the lobby and my car was on their lift. That set the tone for the rest of the visit: disorganized and miscommunicated. I was told that my front brakes were in "terrible shape." When I spoke directly with the mechanic, he said they looked fine--until I mentioned what the salesperson had said. Then he reversed his opinion. This discrepancy repeated several times, making it unclear what the actual condition of the brakes was. Throughout the process, I was told the job would take "another 25 minutes." That exact phrasing happened four or five times, along with the statement "it's not an exact science," with no clear time estimate. After the work was completed, my car developed a new vibration during braking that did not exist before. When I called, I was told it would cost roughly another $300 to fix, even though the vibration only appeared after the work performed here. My invoice also included charges that were never explained or offered. During the visit, staff openly complained about each other (sales and mechanics), which contributed to an overall unprofessional and disorganized atmosphere. I paid significantly above the expected market rate for brakes and labor, and my vehicle came out in worse condition than when it arrived. Finally, I took the car to another Mavis location, and they informed me that the tire balancing was incorrect and appeared to have been done by someone inexperienced without a second person checking the work. I discovered that I lost a lug nut. I went to my guys at Mavis right away, and they took care of the problem immediately. Not only did they replace the lug nut. They used a torque wrench and made sure that every other lug nut on the car, the other 19,were correctly tightened. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences in good service in going here and I will return in the future. I got new tires installed here, along with a wheel alignment. After a couple hours, the manager I believe, came out and told me they did the best that they could with the alignment. They got the directional toe of the wheels straight, but were unable to find ways to adjust the camber to spec. He politely offered me to come back in two days when the lead mechanic would be in to take a better look at it. I brought it back after work and they took care of it in about an hour. Very reasonable timeframes for the intricate work they've gotta do under there, then put it all back together again. They were fully honest, provided written reports, and were very helpful the entire way. This is a well managed mavis! read more

I needed two new tires mounted to a set of brand new rims. Asked the associate to please be careful as not to scratch up my stuff since they were new. The guy at the counter was great, courteous, easy to deal with. I pick the wheels up later and they had smudges all over, as expected from Mavis, but after i wiped them off i could see scratches and drag marks, new valve stems with gouges in them and gouges around where the stems were put in. White greasy fluid splattered everywhere. Is it possible to put tires on without damaging them? Yes it is. I will never spend another dime after the horror stories I've heard from friends, relatives, and co workers who have had damage done to their property after using Mavis. Especially considering I've written to customer service TWICE and they couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge me. Thanks for making my new wheels look used! I should have just gone to South Street Tire down the road, but i decided to save some time, and it was only two tires. At approximately 8 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, I brought my car to this store to have my brakes and oils changed and to have my tires rotates. At approximately 11:15 am I received a call from Allen, the store manager, informing me that all the requested maintenance/repairs were performed on my car and that it was ready for pick up. I arrived to pick up my car at approximately 11:30 am. Upon attempting to leave my car started to make a grinding noise, as if the parking brake was still in engaged and shake when driven. I checked to see if the parking brake was engaged; it was not. I immediately brought this to the attention of Allen. Allen suggested that perhaps "the brake discs are warped." He drove my car into a bay and told me that he would call me when it was ready for pick up. At 11:45 am I contact Mavis' customer service to alert them to the fact that my car had not been repaired properly, if at all, and that my tires had not been rotated as requested. The woman on the line, Janelle, stated that what happened "was not in accordance with Mavis' policy" and that "The district's manager, Patrick, will contact you about your issue." At approximately noon I received a call from an individual who identified himself as John, a retail manager, querying me about my experience at the Warwick store. I explained to John that I was upset that I had paid to have repairs performed on my car that was not done correctly and not done at all. John proceeded to explain to me that it is very common for brake rotors to be off a few inches and that was the problem with my car. I then informed John that his explanation was plausible, but it did not explain why the mechanic returned my car to me in a state of obvious disrepair. I ended the conversation. Later own I found out through sheer luck that the individual, John, was merely a store manager for a different location. At approximately 2 pm, after conferring with my father a Mavis employee, I called the Warwick location and requested that all the original parts be placed back on my car; that my vehicle is returned. Allen notified me that my car was "in pieces" and that the mechanic working on my car was out to lunch. I informed Allen that I would be at the store in 15 minutes and I wanted my car back. At approximately 2:15 pm I returned to Mavis to pick up my car. As soon as I entered the building, Allen went to a bay and drove my car into the parking lot. I found this strange because if my car was in the state that Allen described it would be impossible for my car to ready in 15 minutes. At approximately 2:18 pm Allen called the regional manager, Patrick, and held the phone in the air so he could hear me speaking. Why Allen thought this was necessary escapes me. At approximately 2:20 pm I left the store with my car unrepaired. On Friday, April 12, 2019, I took my car to the Mavis in Butler, NJ at approximately 8 am. The store was empty, and there was only one SUV in a bay and five open bays. At 9:15 am I approached the counter to inquire if it would be better for me to make an appointment and come back at another time. At this time, I was notified that my car would not be touched until the store manager had spoken to the regional manager. I asked the individual at the desk why it was necessary to talk to the regional manager; I did not receive a response. At approximately 9:20 am, an individual claiming to be the assistant manager approached me. He stated that "you should be lucky that you got $700 worth of work done on your car for free." I asked what he meant, and he told me that the Warwick store had repaired my car, which was untrue. This person also pointed out that I had been to five stores for the same thing. When I pointed out this wasn't true, using the documentation that he provided, he switched topics. He took me outside to my car with a flashlight to show me the rusted rotors on my car for some reason. Unfortunately, due to the horrible treatment and lack of repairs to my car, I will no longer be doing business with any Mavis, which is sad because I purchased tire insurance when I bought tires from Mavis 4 months ago. I guess I should feel fortunate that Mavis gets to keep that money, and I must wait for my money to be refunded for the brakes, that was not repaired before I go somewhere else to have them fixed. read more

I'm not sure if the employees are not trained right and/or are understaffed but they do not know what they are doing. I made an appointment for 11am for new ties. I waited, no joke for 3 and a half hours! My husband & his father realized that they messed up all 20 lug-nuts (5 each tire). Now we have to spend $80 to replace them. Not to mention about a year ago, we brought in our other car to be serviced by them. To start off, myself and other family members have used Mavis in the past and we always have had issues. This goes for Warwick and a few other locations. Their employees just want to sell and up sell. They are not mechanics and are basically quick lube people and tire installers. When my dad decided to get tires here at the Warwick location, I knew it wasn't a good idea. Fast forward a year later and he needed a tire plugged. Just about every week it was loosing air badly. He visited Warwick twice and a few other locations three times while on the road. You would think that maybe they would come up with another solution (Aka patch NOT plug the tire) NOPE!! Apparently Mavis will not patch a tire. They wanted to sell me a new one for $254. The guy was very curt and not very helpful. I decided to call York Tire in Vernon and they patched the tire and it's good as new. Shame on you Mavis. read more

Solely re: the air pump. WHY do you have the air pump placed directly between 2 handicapped reserved parking spaces. And the hose does not reach to the other spaces, and barely reaches all 4 tires. I've had a lot of work done on my cars here. The hours are very convenient for a commuter like me. The positive and negative things written by other reviewers are accurate. At this point, I trust them with very simple jobs: oil changes and tire rotations. I've paid for replacement of three engine mounts only to find that they replaced two (while still charging for three). I've paid for an alignment only to drive away and find that the alignment was somehow worse. I've gone in for an oil change and then naively agreed to extensive additional work without seeking other opinions. Conversely, I've gotten replacement tires for very reasonable prices and taken advantage of the affordable insurance. I've gone in for service on any day of the week and had the work done in a reasonable amount of time. On one occasion they even stayed past closing time to finish the replacement of a flat tire. read more

So we've used this Mavis a few times. Got all my tires replaced a couple years ago, good price and not a super-long wait. Pretty on-par with what I expected. Since then we've used them several times for tire rotation (free when you buy your tires there which i think is a great deal.) They've always been quick and accommodating with that. What prompted this review today though, is the encounter I just had this morning. We got porcupine quills stuck in the side of our tire, and I was afraid to pull them out and having the tire go flat. Brought it in and the guy at the counter (wish i got his name) came out and took a look at it, said it was a side wall puncture and I needed a new tire. He was able to do it for me same day, said he could have them working on the car in 20 minutes. I left him my keys and went next door to Price Chopper. About 10 minutes go by, and he calls me on my cell. They had already brought the tire in, and they removed the quills. They realized that the quills hadn't gone all the way in, they were just barely hanging on the tire. They tested the tire, filled it up, and confirmed that there was no leak and I didn't need a new tire after all. So instead of changing the tire and taking my $180 when I wouldn't have even questioned it, they were honest with me and saved me my money!! I will highly recommend them in the future, honesty is not something you can expect from every business, but clearly you can from this place!! read more

Complete lack of customer service! Mavis lost our cover for the spare tire and when had to call several times to get them to acknowledge there is such a cover. Told they would order a new one for us and asked for the vin # to make sure they ordered the correct tire. I called 3 weeks later to see when it would come in. Told then that they need to review the video of that day as they couldn't see how this could have happened. After telling them I would like to see that video and speak to higher management, I was called the next day to say they would order the cover. Just had it put on the car, no apology for the inconvenience. Manager never introduced himself, never apologized for the inconvenience they caused us. Appointments/ Reservations mean nothing there, its always 1st come 1st serve. I waited 40 minutes after my appointment time last week until they started work only to have them tell me the tire they ordered was damaged (a big, obvious slash completely through the side wall). You think they would check items for damage when they are delivered like every other business. They called me a day or two later when the replacement tire was in. I made an appointment this week to have it installed and when I arrived they told me the wait was about 45 minutes. They did not offer me any discount as compensation either time. On a previous occasion they couldn't replace my brake pads as my car required special software to retract the rear pads. Only one tech had it on his laptop (I assume the software likely belonged to a former employer). The 1st day I tried he wasn't working and when I came back when he was supposed to be, he was out (sick?). Fortunately the Mavis in Florida, NY had purchased a legitimate copy of the software for the shop and was able to do the job. read more

Called for a price on 2 tires, told me $78 a tire "that's with everything ". Now, I expected tax, obviously. I come in the next day to get it done, asked for the total, I say that's expensive I thought it was $70 something per tire, gets on the computer says it's +$16.95 for balancing. To which I responded that's like $90 per tire? He responds, yes. I said, I was told on the phone $70 something per tire on the phone. He says, "I have it right here on the computer." So what I'm getting at is they quote one thing on the phone and put in their computer something else, so they can say since it's on the computer, it's legit. Crooks, liars, and dishonest. The other issue is, if every tire "requires " balancing, why would that not be included in the price of the tire? This would be the equivalent to going to the grocery store and buying cold cuts. Turkey is $8.99 a lb, when you get to the register the 1 lb of turkey rings up for $11. Why is 1 lb of turkey $11 and not $8.99? $2 for the packaging!!! Ask yourself, are you ok with this? This balancing is no different. There's a reason why they're in a nice big store, and it's not because they are selling an affordable product. I'm sure the guys in the garage are doing excellent work, which is why I didn't walk out. They are being screwed by the crooks on the inside because they WILL be losing business. ...so as I leave, the guy shows the bill and his guilty conscience kicks in and says "I only charged $10 per tire fire the balancing " expecting me to say thank you, I return with no comment as I was charged $20 more than that I was quoted on the phone. read more

Do not at all cost have service here. I've had three cars to them and all 3 had to have return visits to correct there work. Most recently a dangerous issue where a burning smell and loud grinding noises were heard. I have gone to this Mavis twice for service, both times having issues. That's what I get for going to a chain rather than a local shop. First time, they pushed a power steering flush, and immediately following whenever I would steer my car would make a horrific creaking sound. Most recently, I went in for 2 new front tires and a rotation. The shop manager told me I needed 2 new rear tires, so we went into the shop and inspected the tires determining that they already did the rotation and the rear tires they said I need were in fact the front tires. I confirmed this multiple times before approving the repair, only to leave and notice a couple days later that they had indeed changed the perfectly fine rear (now front) tires, and left my balding front (now rear) tires on my car. When I told Allen (the store manager) how insane it was that they couldn't complete a simple job -- they are a tire shop afterall,-- I was told "Well, it's an insane world!" Their solution was to put my old rear tires that they replaced onto the rims that held the balding front tires. Everybody in the shop was clearly distracted by the dog that the shop manager was holding in a pack 'n' play in the shop, to the point that they couldn't do their job properly. I filed a complaint with the corporate office and was put in touch with the regional manager, Patrick, who claimed he was approved to help me out and make up for the error.
