I called with a large issue regarding my front two tires having two studs on each side stuck. I had got a quote from Mavis of $760 which they then "discounted" for $650 deal. I told them no way & had them drop my car. My brother tried and says we need a good shop that isn't going to price gouge you. He recommend this place because they worked on my Moms and his car also. Needless to say I was accommodated quickly, treated with understanding and the work was done in nearly 2 hours with a MUCH more reasonable pricing. I left happy and felt finally safe driving in my jeep. Broke down on the way to work recently in the early morning hours. It turned out my serpentine belt broke ( again) and the idle pulley went. So you can imagine I wasn't happy and wondering what the heck I was going to do. I ended up turning back around and went home. My mechanic was off for the (week which I didn't know),so I tried Vin-J's. Vin was very helpful and was able to take me in the same day ( thank God for AAA for towing my car there). called in about my Durango overheating. I was told to bring it in that they will take care of it. I dropped off the car to them and left it there so that it can be repaired. they did noy fix anything. all they did was flush out the cooling system. the car was still overheating. they assumed that the engine had a blown head gasket. without doing the block test. I asked if it could have been the thermostat and they said "No the thermostat is working as it's supposed too it surely a blown head gasket". so, I paid the $180. and took there recommendation to freeman auto shop in Monroe. where they perform the block test and my engine past. Freeman auto shop replace the thermostat and now my car is working just fine. moreover I wouldn't take my car to vin-J if it was the last place on Earth. avoid this place and go to freeman's auto shop in Monroe it's a 10 minute drive up the block. read more

They started to price gouge their customers. I was double charged for labor when they made a mistake. When I brought it to their attention Vinny's hands were shaking, he couldn't make eye contact and went to go ask his brother Steve...Steve stayed in the back because they wanted to stay firm on charging me the labor for something I should not have had to pay additional labor for. It was their error that I needed a part I requested yet they said I didn't need. A friend of mine told me that's why her family stopped going to Vin J's and suggested I call Freeman's Auto to cross reference price quotes. Out of curiosity I did. Low and behold Vin J's charged an extra $300 for all the work needed on my car. Where Freeman's in Monroe would've saved me. These guys knew I just had a lot of work done on my car but some people don't have integrity and couldn't care less about returning customers. On Saturday July 7th, 2012, I brought my 1996 Nissan Maxima into Vin-J's Oil & Lube INC (President Vincent W. Januska / address 60 Brookside Ave, Chester NY 10918), to have the EGR, Knock Sensor and the valve gasket covers installed. As I always do when getting my car serviced, I provided the parts being replaced. At that time, the young man at the front desk (Steve) gave me an estimated price for installing these parts and informed me that my car would be ready on Tuesday evening, July 10th. Steve gave me a receipt with the estimate which stated labor for the items installed at $90.00 per hour for 6 hours of work totaling $540.00. On Tuesday at 2:27pm, I spoke with Steve who told me "we have a bit of a problem." Steve informed me that the EGR valve broke, but they ordered me a new one which should arrive Thursday July 12th. Steve informed me that as his "brother tried to put the EGR in he broke the EGR valve; but you know the car is really old and we ordered the piece from the dealer." I asked how much is this piece? Steve says oh it's a part that is only sold at the dealer and it's going to be an additional $100.00. Admittedly, to myself I questioned them charging me for a part that THEY broke, but to be fair I would have the part in my car so I didn't see it as a big deal and thought my estimate would go from $540 to $640. They were told at that time to go ahead and put in the new part but, "we are not putting anymore money into this car." This was clearly stated since they went ahead and ordered the part (they broke). The car worked fine when we drove it in and we expected to drive it back out so do what needed to be done, but we would not be paying for more than the estimate and the ordered part. Thursday came and I was informed that the part they ordered was not in and my car was not ready. Not a big deal, since this is not my main vehicle and I could use another until the car was fixed. On Friday I was told that my car was ready; I was also informed that $923.38 was expected for the services provided, when I picked up my car Saturday. I informed Vinny that it was made clear to me I was to pay $540 , $90 dollars per hour for 6 hours of labor and an additional $100 for the ordered part. I provided him with the receipt from the original estimate provided by Steve and Vinny stated the job took 14 hours and he only charged me for 9 hours (wow how generous of you Vinny). I told him at no time had anyone said anything to me about a $923 dollar charge. When I asked about the sudden inflated charge Vincent (very rude and condescending), says "you gonna pay my money." I won't go into all the words that were exchanged, but the owner of this shop lacks professionalism, and the basic social skills needed to run a (successful) business. He even informed me that he charges "more," when customers provide parts because he has to make his "money somehow," and compared bringing in your own parts to bringing in your own food to a restaurant for them to cook it. I have the recorded conversation, in which he displays his wonderful customer service skills, but you may want to cover your children's ears because his language is quite colorful. Anyway, after much discussion, $800 later, and his demand that I sign a waiver agreeing not to take him to court, I drove my car out of his lot and obviously will NEVER go there again. read more

Probably the best shop I've even been to. Me and my family have been going to them for over 20 years. For oil changes, inspections, and any kind of car service we needed, it was done professionally and quickly. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Any time that we have needed them, a quick call and they have squeezed us in without making an appointment. I remember I had a leak in my tire while I was at work. I came out from my job on lunch and had a flat. I called them up, and right away they said "bring it on down". Over the years, a few of my friends have asked where to get car service done. The guy at the counter (owner?) got to the car quickly and said that they would either plug the tire or patch it. This impressed me, because even the tire repair specialists in Newburgh don't patch tires, they only plug them. Anyway, they got the car fixed quickly and for $15 I was on my way. I called to ask about an oil change for a Mercedes I just purchased. Mercedes recommends Mobil 1 synthetic oil and I've always brought my others Benz there since they advertise outside and inside the building that they uses Mobil 1. I asked if they had the 5-40 Mobil 1 oiled and was told yes. I brought the car there and they put it on the lift and drained the oil. I was in the garage while they were working because I wanted to get a look at the underside of the car. Then I noticed the mechanic get several quarts of oil off a shelf which were not Mobil 1. I told him I wanted the Mobil 1 that is advertised all over the building. The price list even says it. Confusion ensued as they looked all around the shop, but failed to locate any of the Mobil oil. I would have left but by that time the car had no oil in it. They put in some oil with a brand name I never heard of (and which I assume costs them less than the Mobil). I was told its "just as good or better". Now I realize that my other car hasn't received the manufacturer recommended oil either. That was my last time going there. read more
