Arrived at 8:25AM and asked if they could look at a damaged tire on my car. It had a nail in it. They said yes, it will be about 30-45 minutes because their tire tech was "just getting started." At 9:45, they hadn't even looked at it. They must be short handed. I got my keys back and left. So happy I did. I drove about a mile to Just Tires on Clearwater Largo road and they had the tire repaired within 15 minutes. I should have never stayed at Mavis. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the negative energy. No smiles, poor greeting, not happy to see customers. The waiting area is like a morgue. No TV, music, poor customer experience overall. I can't say enough wonderful things about the team at Mavis. I bought a replacement tire today, thinking we'd need to bring it back to my car at home with a flat and figure it out ourselves. However John took the time to come down the street with me and install the tire where my flat tire used to be. I'm so thankful for that because I feel safe driving on that tire. When I got my car to the shop (for the first time, and it was already repaired!) to tighten the bolts and fill the other tires with more pressure, Timur, Shane, and Julian were equally awesome. My Hyundai Elantra's engine check light (called Malfunction Indicator Lamp) was on, and a friend said he was very happy with Mavis at 1190 Missouri Ave N in Largo. Turns out they can do a lot more than tires and brakes. They were busy the day I called, but said the following day was good. This was way better than my dealer, who said it would be a minimum of 7 days before they could look at it. On my way to Mavis, more warning lights came on: lower tire pressure in two tires, and a couple more warning lights, but the car drove fine, and I drove the rest of the way there without a problem (less than a mile). After looking at it, they said that the gas cap was not completely closed, and this was the source of the engine check light being on. So everyone make sure your gas cap is closed after you gas up if you have this kind of car! They also put some air (I guess nitrogen) in the tires, and that took care of everything else. They didn't want to charge me anything, and they were really nice! I'm taking my car here in the future if it needs something they can do. read more

I'll never take my car here for an oil change again but I respect that they took care of me. I needed a same-day oil change for my car and didn't want to wait at the dealership. This place charged me $75.42 for an oil change. And that's with a "$10 off coupon". $60 for 6 quarts of synthetic oil. To put things in perspective, 5 quarts of synthetic oil at Walmart is around $20. They seriously need to fix their pricing. Also, someone who works there tried to tell me my brakes are "extremely worn" and "need to be changed immediately". The sales tactics are extreme to say the least. I just got an oil change at the Ford dealership and they did a brake inspection and said nothing. And the oil change was only $32. While I wasn't satisfied, they did have some happy customers who walked out so I respect the business. Can't win them all. I was able to get a full refund so I have no complaints. read more

Silly me, I thought when I scheduled an appointment that I would get taken in close to my scheduled time. Not here. My 2:00pm appointment on 2/8 Turned into a 3 hour 15-minute appointment and me waiting there the whole time. There were so many opportunities to avoid this like call me before my appointment and see if I could come in at 3:30 (that's when my car finally got in) or tell all the drive in people around 1:30 that THEY can't get their car worked on until 3:30, etc. What a painful $1,250.00 experience at this store. read more

Yesterday I had to get tires on my mini van, and went down to the local Mavis Tire shop on Missouri Street, in Largo, FL. The prices were good. I mentioned to the manager at the counter that my spare mini tire was needing to be put back under the vans frame, as this is where it is typically stored. The mechanics there tried for a while to get this tire back under the van. Then they called out Julian. Julian was amazing. He knew what he was doing and spent extra time on this for me. my 2019 infinity had sudden battery issues. when I first went by I asked if they could just do a system check. Joe stopped what he was doing and ran it. Took him 15 min. Free of charge! Thought we were ok, so I left and then had to return frantic 30 min before closing. Not only mechanic Lenox ( who was off the clock heading home) make a last minute to pickup a new battery. I'm always nervous going into a shop as a female by myself. I've had experiences in the past where I've been quoted three different problems with three different prices, getting taken advantage of because I don't "speak car". First phone call I had with them they were not helpful at all so I call back within 15 minutes got a hold of someone else who was much more helpful. The first guy when I called I was asking about a specific tire and he said yeah we should have that, and I asked if they did any kind of discounts for first responders or vets and he said yeah I think so but didn't know the discount, I then asked if I can make an appointment for Saturday and he said that they don't take appointments just to come in whenever. When I call back the second time the guy said none of that was true whatsoever the tires I actually wanted I had to have them special order. And appointment was not necessary but helpful so I wouldn't have to wait. The second person was able to provide me with a price quote reflective to what I found on their website. When I call to confirm my appointment they didn't seem to know anything about a timeframe that I was supposed to come in. When I did actually arrive the price was different than what was quoted. The manager did adjust it to as close as he could get as what was discussed on the phone. And honestly I didn't have a complete breakdown so I couldn't guarantee what the cost was so he did his best to make it work for me. Two tires and an alignment I was told would take about an hour and a half over two hours later my car was ready. By that time I was very tired and overly frustrated - it had been a very long day for me. When I spoke to the mgr about the multiple phone calls- He had explained to me that sometimes the shop guys answer the phones and they don't have all the answers and then he said sometimes the corporate picks up which in my case was the second phone call. I explain to him that if the shop guys don't know what they're talking about they shouldn't be answering the phone because all it does is add frustration for customers so much they I almost didn't buy from them. I came in to replace my brakes and rotors because how bad of shape they were in! Although they were able to change them out for me, they told me that I needed to do a brake flush and it would be a 99$ charge and I agreed! Luckily I was watching the technician who was working on my car and I noticed that he had only did the brakes and rotors and none of the extra services that were required! I had brought it up to him and he said he had forgot to do the brake flush! So when I go to pay I was still charged for the services that was not complete! I went in for brakes pads and calipers in august, they seemed nice and work quickly. When I picked the car up I brought windshield wipers to replace mine with and they offered to replace them for me without charge, I declined but appreciated the offer. In December I went in to be repeat customer and get two new tires, while wait for my tires to be put on they informed me that I need new brakes, odd since THEY fixed my brakes a few months ago, so I asked if they guarantee their work and if they would fix or replace if the brakes went bad unreasonably, they said "yes!" So I said they just fixed my brakes and should guarantee their work and fix or replace them. They basically responded by saying "we'll fix it now" which isnt reassuring, so we told them that and they offered to do my next oil change for free and check the brakes then. We'll today I go in for that free oil change, AND OF COURSE THERE IS NO NOTE OR RECORD OF OWING ME A FREE OIL CHANGE, but it gets worse, the technician tells me that my brakes are garbage AND THAT THEY NEVER FIXED THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY JUST CHARGED ME FOR IT AND THEN CHANGED THE PADS AND DID NOTHING ELSE. I, MY GIRLFRIEND, AND MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN RIDING AROUND IN A DANGEROUS CAR THAT HAD SHOT BRAKES THAT I PAID TO HAVE HAD FIXED AND HAVE PAPERWORK SHOWING I PAID FOR AND YET ITS BEEN EIGHT MONTHS OF DANGER FOR MYSELF MY LOVED ONES AND EVERY OTHER DRIVER AND PEDESTRIAN ON THE ROAD, so they offered to do the job I paid them for 8 months ago for "free" which is nice SINCE I ALREADY PAID FOR IT. 6 reasons why you should Avoid Avoid Avoid! Arrived at open on the dot for a rotation and oil change, I even made an appointment online before arriving so they would have me in the system. It Took 25 min for 2 people to enter the service order into the computer and get started- red flag #1. I was the only customer in the store mind you and there where 3-4 employees waiting to work out back. 90 min later they finished, here is where the fun started. First, they broke my wheel lock lug (probably due to over tightening (yikes) - took $10 off the bill to cover the cost - fine, things happen - red flag #2) I hear a loud rattle as I pull out, they forgot to tighten to spare on my Jeep so I turn around to get it snuggled up - red flag #3, at the same time they tell me they forgot to put the cover on my engine so they bring that out and I put it on myself because the 'mechanic' didn't even know how to open the hood of a my Jeep, he was looking for a switch down by the pedals - red flag #4, I let him handle tightening the nuts (but I watched to make sure he was following the righty-tighty rule - he passed this test - kudos...but, clearly my confidence was shattered...lastly, on the way home, the center lug-cover cap on my custom wheels comes of and is run over by a car-red flag #5. Ugh - you can't just go buy these and I (had) 5 that matched - I called the manager to explain the situation and my train wreck of an experience for probably the most basic of services to be done on a car. She said she would get back to me immediately with a solution and has my number. That was an hour ago- red flag #6. Never again! Consider yourself warned and spread the word.
