Called around the local tire stores for prices, cause I live on a budget and really couldn't afford for this to happen this week... The lack of customer service was frustrating... I called Mavis and the gentlemen on the other end was not only friendly, understanding and extremely helpful, but also quoted the best price... I called AAA to have the car towed... While waiting Dana called me back and explained that the inventory was wrong ( our new norm since the pandemic ) feeling frantic that this was going to cost me more than I could really afford I asked, "So how much more for the next price up"? I was immediately told not to worry they will give me the tire at the same price... I said "No way I heard that right" and Dana reassured me that I did... I thanked him for turning my day around and he thanked me for being understanding... I can't express enough how amazing Dana's customer service was and how nice it was to be treated so kind during such trying times... Went to Mavis to have a tire plugged due to a screw in the center of the tread of my passenger rear tire. I was checked in and told it could be done right away, great! The next thing I know another guy goes and looks at my car and tells me I need a whole new tire because the screw is in the sidewall and is effecting the integrity of the tire. This as he was showing me on a showroom tire, where the screw was in my tire. I knew immediately this was an attempt to try to rip me off because I was a woman and probably didn't know enough about tires to question this. WRONG!!! I will also add to replace my tire would be very expensive and they probably would not stock what my German car would require, thus they would be making a nice profit off me!! I said to both of them "Do I look like an idiot! I know the difference between the sidewall and the center of the tread of a tire!!" So I went there for tires... They accidentally gave me an oil change... And stripped my oil plug... I went to midis because they do a cheaper oil change... And then Midas informed me that my oil plug was stripped... When I brought it back to Mavis they told me because mitis had it in their garage they had no way of knowing who actually strip the oil plug then try to charge me $900 in labor to fix it... also originally I had to go back in and fight for my tire warranty because the tires they sold me guaranteed to go 60,000 miles and they only made it to 40and then the manager there tried to tell me I was SOL and had to buy a new set of tires... Luckily one of the employees stuck up for me and made him honor the warranty Because I brought it in for a tire rotation religiously every 5000 miles... read more

I was looking for new tires for the family car, after doing research on the best tires for our specific car, I called several tire companies in my area for the best deal, Mavis Tire and Brakes offered the best price, warranty and gave me some freebies like free tire rotation, rebalanced, and flat tire repair. The only thing I wasn't happy with, was the time I spent at their waiting room, it took much longer than the promised time I was given. WOW!....BUYER BEWARE OF MAVIS TIRE! This location used a "BAIT AND SWITCH" game on me, but luckily it failed. Went to Marvis Tire to get a quote on a specific Goodyear tire. The clerk gave me a detailed hand writing quote on a specific Goodyear tire and what the total cost would be. I made an appointment. Came back for my appointment 3 days later, at the Mavis location in Salem NH and a checked in with the girl at the front desk....My husband wanted to reiterate that what was on the computer screen was the same tire we would be getting. She confirmed yes verbally. He asked what exactly was in the extended warranty that we were buying for 59.96, and she just shrugged her shoulders. My husband then asked to see the tires they ordered in for us. She huffed and puffed went into the back. When my husband looked at the tire she brought out, he found out that the tire was "H" speed rated not a "V" rated tire, as the ones we got a quote on, and were being charged for. She said they order them and they just send "whatever". So, if this is true, I could be going back and forth for weeks, hoping the right tire would come in????? Then the clerk that my husband originally talked to came over. He was supposedly the manager. My husband said to him, not for nothing but the girl at the front desk is not very knowledgeable and seems to care less about your customers. He said "hold on....you have to meet us half way". Half way? We came here and got a detailed quote on the cost and on a specific tire. When we showed up for our appointment, you tried to install the wrong tires, never reordered them after receiving the wrong tires, or called us to let us know you received the wrong tires....Mavis Tire wasted our time letting us think we were coming to have the TIRES WE ORDERED put on our car, only to find out that the wrong tires were going to be installed on my vehicle for the same price of the better V speed rated tire I was quoted on! His solution after getting CAUGHT trying scam us to install a lower SPEED RATED "H" tire on my car for the same price as the better "V" rated tire was, "he could order more tires in". At that point I understood what kind of establishment this location of Marvis Tire is, got my keys back and left. Never to repeat the same experience! The people at Mavis SELL TIRES. That is what they specialize in. Yes, the wrong things sometime come in. That's when you fix the problem, call the customer and reschedule the appointment if needed. Not, let the customer come in anyway and throw any ole tire on their car. Luckily, in our case, we were paying attention and caught onto the their SCAM. At the end of the conversation when I said we were just going to go somewhere else the clerk that gave us the quote said, "oh ya, you can most definitely go somewhere else".....No "I'm so sorry I wasted your time" or "I will give you a courtesy discount for your trouble", no nothing. Just "OK go somewhere else".....This location used their "BAIT AND SWITCH" game on me, but luckily it failed. A good business is always gauged by its management. There is obviously NO management in the Salem store as a manager was never asked to intervene in our conversation. The lack of management shows by the way the front desk staff and employees act when there is a problem. Let's face it, there will be problems, but its how you deal with them that matters and holds on to customers. Who advises a customer to GO SOMERWHERE ELSE?????? Someone who couldn't care less about the business...that's who. Corporate needs to take a hard look at this location and from what I read from many others that have reviewed. My advice for anyone who is even thinking of going to the Salem location.....D O N ' T!!! Luckily for me I found another tire shop that ordered and received my tires within hours and I had them installed MUCH faster than the rip off Mavis Tire.....No wonder the Mavis parking lot in Salem is always empty. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM, I had an appointment for a tire check, oil change, and to ensure my 2011 Infiniti G37X was in good condition. Only the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) lights were on.During the inspection, the technician working on my car crashed into a toolbox, damaging the front of the car, the bumper, the trunk lid, and dislodging the fenders from their original position, not to mention possible internal damage.They replaced two sensors on two tires, changed the oil, and installed a new filter. I spent more than five hours at that shop for that work.Less than 30 minutes after I left, the tire pressure monitoring system lights came on on the dashboard.On Monday, October 20th, I returned to that shop to have the shoddy work repaired.They replaced two more sensors, for which I had to pay double for the service on the first day and now for a second day.Days passed, and I didn't receive any calls. I called on October 31st, 2025, demanding an answer. I couldn't wait any longer; how long was this going to go on?It seemed they were playing games with me, lying that they were working on the issue, which wasn't true.They had photos, video footage, all the information they needed to send to any body shop for a quote. They didn't provide a quote, there was no rental car available, and the response was that I had to go to another body shop for another estimate. Seriously, was that the way things were going? This was reaching its limit. I was talking to the manager, Eduardo, but the connection kept dropping due to the poor signal where he was. He said they had been trying to contact me, but I wasn't answering. I heard all sorts of things, but seriously, no one had called me in days, not even the body shop, to discuss any agreement.I had to leave the body shop, still driving my damaged car. Mavis didn't respond; at this point, I was just told to get another estimate, and that was all. As another reviewer mentioned, that 4.5-star rating is as fake as the word itself. I truly don't recommend them at all. It's all lies and falsehoods, demonstrating zero interest in repairing my car. Now I'm going to take legal action, which I should have done from day one to avoid these losses. I have witnesses and compelling evidence to file a lawsuit with the truth on my side. I filed a police report and a Small Claims Court claim. It was three days of lost work, over 270 miles driven, time, money, and much more wasted with no solution in sight. No any more. I booked an appointment to have all of my brakes done a week ago and I changed my entire schedule that day to make it to this appointment and when I showed up they said sorry we can't do it today. They didn't give me any warning and now I'm stuck having to go somewhere else and wait longer. I drive a lot to treat patients and it's really frustrating that after rushing to get to an apt on time they told me that everyone left for the day and they can't do it. This place is amazing! On our second day of vacation one of our front struts broke. I was obviously quite distraught and unsure of what to do. Six different places said they wouldn't be able to do anything until Friday. Seeing how it was only Monday we were quite upset. Thankfully we came across this place. I went in to see if they could plug a nail hole in my tire. While the person was checking me in, he was on the phone with comcast complaining about his bill? They told me that it would be $41.87 to plug the tire, expensive but ok, They took my car in and after waiting 45 minutes to see if they could patch the tire, I asked and the same person that checked me in , Can you patch the tire? he said , "Oh the hole is too close to the side wall." ( 3" from the outer side wall) but they could sell me four new tires. I just had a state inspection done and the four tires where well with in the legal tread depth to pass. I told them I would take the car back and don't do anything else. I drove north on route 28 less than a mile to Town Fair Tire. The person came out and said we are real busy but they could squeeze this car in and get it taken care of, they plugged it and I was on my way . So m writing this review for my mother as she went here to buy tires. Unfortunately the Trusted Mechanic we always use on Park street in Salem doesn't do tires unfortunately. However he does just about everything else and doesn't come back with a list of items that need to be replaced like this place does every single time. Anyway she bought the tires which they ride good but substantially overpriced but okay that's fine. We knew that was gonna happen ahead of time. When she got home I looked at the paperwork which stated she needed a new battery immediately which I can't understand how a 3 month old battery needs to be replaced already especially being a quality battery. Was also told the rear shocks needed to be replaced. So I myself checked he shocks out and absolutely nothing was wrong with them. Supposedly they were leaking. Me and two other mechanics could not find a leak or even a stain from a leak on either shock. Had auto one test the battery and surprise surprise battery was in perfect health. Also the covers to the battery terminals were left off and just sitting in the engine compartment. And now the drivers side high,low and daytime light are all not working. Know for a fact they all worked fine before going to Mavis and immediately noticed when she got home they were not working. On top of all this she spent 4-1/2 hours at Mavis and only had 4 tires replaced. The awful thing is people spend hours there while getting work done but, if the service guys would actually work instead of hang out and be walking around constantly people would spend much less time there. And you'd think they'd do something about this especially when the entire waiting room is complaining about the several hours they've been waiting. If your in Salem and need work done I highly Recommend going to MW Auto on park street. The mechanic and his son both are honest do great work and NEVER over price people or come back with ridiculous lists of items that need replacing. Most people only write reviews for bad experiences, I write them for good and bad experiences. How lazy can someone be to not even put the covers back on the battery terminals, definitely was t to lazy to write up a list of items that "NEEDED" to be replaced. I brought my car to get new tires, they offered me a really great price. After I dropped my car off, they called me to let me know they couldn't get the lug nuts off. They tried blaming previous work I had done. They ended up breaking both my lug nut and the key needed to remove it. I had to pick my car up from them and bring it somewhere else and pay to have the lug nut removed and replaced. When I tried to get my money back for the damage they caused, they again blamed someone else despite the fact that they broke the lug nut, key, and scraped up my tire rim. Very dissatisfied with their handling of the situation. Also, when asked why they didn't have an extractor on site, I was told "Do you know how expensive those are?" NTB appears to have been taken over by Mavis Tire Express as of Feb 2020. Anyways I stopped by on a Saturday to get 4 new tires and an alignment. There was only 2 cars in the bay and I asked how long. They said 2 hours which I thought was a bit long but there were some stores in the area , so I decided to go forward even though their tire prices were higher than I expected. I came back 2 hours later and the car was still on the lift with no tires 1 hour later s someone drove the car to the front so I waited in line for another 15 minutes but when I spoke to someone at the cash register it turned out that they never did the alignment. They told me that it appeared someone had mixed up to 2 Nissan Altimas in the bay...so here I wait and they tl me it will still be another hour. Hey I get that places can get busy and they don't have the money to pay these folks 6 figures, but they told me 2 hours and it will clearly be now at least 4 hours. I purchased four tires from Mavis in September. I was very happy with my response at the time December 23 during a recent terrible storm. I had a blowout of my right front tire which totally frightened me. I called Mavis in Salem New Hampshire and spoke with a very helpful gentleman, made an appointment for a replacement the following morning, I had my car towed in and arrived at 5;55 pm. I entered to verify my next appointment, and to talk about my awful experience. I met three wonderful young people at this time.Logan, Evie and Justin. They were fantastic. They want you to check my tires for damage and Logan surprisingly told me he would take care of it right then he knew he would be working overtime but he recognized and I'm sure empathized with my distress. He changed my tire and I happily and safely went home. I would highly highly recommend Mavis tire on CluffRoad, Salem, New Hampshire, and these three wonderful people read more

My oldest child bought tires here and had to wait 3.5 hours to get her vehicle back. They gave her some discounts to made up for the long wait. Bought my youngest child tires here because I figured the wait was a fluke and we always went to the NTB here and got great service. Mavis does NOT guarantee their tires. My youngest had to take it back the next day because they "forgot" to balance the tires and then she had to take it back about a week later because they kept losing air as they were not installed properly. They charged her an additional $90 for an alignment (which she wouldn't need if they had been installed properly) and one sensor. I have no issues with paying for a sensor, but the rest is ludicrous. DO NOT GO HERE. You will regret it. You should be able to feel safe on your new tires. We got nothing but worry, additional cost and stress for our money. If anything else goes wrong, I'll pay a reputable company to fix it. read more
