After 75 minutes we left too apologizing to the waitress but she said she didn't have any time line on when our meals would be ready (there are two of us waiting for burgers), while the menu looks great we wouldn't know how it tastes. Our actual meals came out 5 minutes later, and the order was entered incorrectly by the waitress. 2 of our orders were cole inside. If I could leave zero stars, I would.. My in-laws, husband and I visit this M&E every so often. Well, the in-laws live down in Lancaster, so we sometimes go here for lunch after church on Sundays. Every time we go, we are always quickly seated in either a booth or table. I think we just get here before the 'after church crowd'. This past Sunday I ordered one of their salads and the hubby ordered one of their chicken sandwiches. Very good. The waitress and everything was just perfect. We'd definitely go back here again. I would have to admit that we never get a bad meal at this M&E or any of the two that are closer to our home in the Columbus area. read more

I've only did me takeout/curbside recently and haven't dined in for a very long time. I enjoyed what I've gotten there as has my husband but it was only ok. Nothing to write home about. I like their chicken salad sandwich and the French onion soup. Spousal Unit usually gets some type of wrap. I'm not sure I'd go back to dine in especially given overall food quality and prices on things like steaks. However, for soup, salad, sandwiches I've no overall complaints. Laid back burger joint with fast service, great food, reasonably priced, and our waiter (Clara) was fantastic. I see some comments about poor service; I recommend Clara if anyone goes. Our drinks never got down to half of a glass and she would refill us. If you have never been the combo of a tortilla burger, tortilla soup, and fresh cookie is highly recommended. Nice, clean building and have to admit...love the patio. Food was decent, service was slow. The visit consisted of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Kids had pop prior to beers which is understandable. However after a good 5 minute wait, we went to bar to retrieve ourselves...to be greeted by rude bartender. Food came out timely, but buffalo chicken sandwich was not buffalo-just plain fried/breaded sandwich. They offered to remake, but didn't want the hassle. Came in around 3:30 on a Saturday, seated immediately. Hardly anyone else in restaurant yet our waitress was not at all attentive. French onion soup was nothing more than Campbell's soup with a hamburger bun floating on the top. 3rd Street salad is incredibly overpriced for the portion size. Lettuce felt soggy and wilted, as if the dressing had been on it forever. Side salad substitute for fries overpriced. Garbage burger was decent. Bloody Mary was delicious. read more

What a total dump. I was so imbarrased. We hung out at M&E in the village in our 20's so I picked this as a 5 year reunion spot. The crap waitress was so lazy she didn't stay to serve us, she closed out tab at 745- 8pm. We were still drinking. The appetizers- 1 pretzel that came out as 6 sticks, 1 order of nachos (cold slip) spinach dip - (didn't eat) then I got tortilla soup (yellow)??? All the apps were freezing cold & unedible. The main course, Fish & chips, Philly + Buffalo chicken sandwich with garbage fries. These people could screw up a wet dream. I cannot believe how bad the quality is the manager should be fired the restaurant was filthy dirty. The lazy staff just stood around either drunk or high like a buch of middle age children without supervision. They didn't ask how we liked our food they knew the answer. We frequent this restaurant because my husband really likes the soup. We have had issues with this Lancaster Ohio Max and Erma's over the years, but this time, it was my husband who said we weren't going to come to this location anymore. He wrote a complaint on the Max and Erma's website, but we did not receive a reply. This location has been going downhill for years. They consistently serve lukewarm fries, and we always have to ask for fresh fries. On our most recent visit, we were seated by a female employee who was wearing sweat pants. We were seated in the bar area, where the employee working behind the bar continuously talked to a table of people she knew, WHILE she was behind the bar. This not only interrupted our own conversation, but let's just say that we weren't being checked on to see if we needed anything. We don't normally complain about little things, but after time, they all add up, and it gets ridiculous. Lancaster Ohio really needs some good restaurants. This one is not one of them. read more

Horrible experience. We have gone there a few times and never was impressed. It has started to get dirtier lately. But we returned for another try and the server was extremely disrespectful of my grandfather. She was speaking softly and he couldn't hear her. She rolled her eyes at him and ignored him the rest of our time there. The food was cold and our drinks were never refilled. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

The food is always great,we are greeted nicely at the door, but after many visits I am repeatedly dissatisfied with the service. My most recent visit, we sat in one of the comfortable booths overlooking the bar. Our waitress was also the bartender. Since we only ordered tea instead of mixed drinks, we were treated like second class citizens. The waitress did not refill our drinks or check on us unless we flagged her down; She chatted with bar patrons for about five minutes instead of returning to take our dessert order, even though we had just told her we were interested in dessert. I wish I could give the kitchen staff five stars and the wait staff one, but I can't, so I am going with three stars to even it out. read more

I ate at Max and Erma in Lancaster for lunch in a party of 5. The service staff was very friendly. Upon seating us, I noticed the bench seat and table was dirty so I requested to be moved. When walking over to our new location, a water droplet landed on my arm. The waitress stated that the air conditioning in the ceiling drips in that location. I noticed a large gap between where tables were set up. I should have asked how long the air conditioning has been dripping and if there was an order in for the repair. It would be interesting to know if it's repaired in reasonable time or if they allow it to continue to drip on the carpet for the rest of the summer. I did notice a few flies while we were there. The food was typical Max and Erma food. The fried Onions were very good. They serve them with a dipping sauce that has a little horseradish taste to it. I really like the Village salad. The dressing is a sweet vinegar. The ingredients were fresh. read more

We went here in February with my in-laws, because we usually have a good meal at a fair price. That was then, this is now. I don't know if our waitress had just lost her kitten or had just gotten a Dear Jane letter, but we must have reminded her of her ex. She was rude when we asked about specials, and that was the high light....at least we got a good conversation out of it. The steaks came out over cooked, however no one dared send them back for fear of causing or server to go "postal" we quietly paid and left without making any sudden moves. My wife and I whent there for our anniversary dinner date. Our waitress had issues understanding what we were ordering my wife ask for no spice on her fries and I ordered a burger medium rare ,she ask medium well(right) I repeated medium rare and ask for no pickles, as I a allergic to them and told her of that fact. She said she had it and left to put our order in. When our food arrived my plate had pickles on it and my burger was well done.since it was our date night I decided not to make a scene as I passed the pickles to my wife and was careful to eat nothing that had been close to them. A bit later on she was pressing us to order desert so my wife ask for a box since her meal, which is more than we normally eat and we ordered a small desert that we wanted to split. When it arrived there was no box for her dinner and the desert wasn't on a plate, but was in a take out box and there was no silverware for us to eat it.we had to get a manager to get forks and a take out box. Soon afterwards she was back with our bill and stopped back to see if we were ready to pay it (we had not even started the desert) and we said no we were not ready. It made us feel as though she was rushing us out the door. My tip reflected how we felt about the service, or lack of service. We will not be back any time soon and we can not,with a clear conscience recommend this restaurant to any one. read more

They were not busy at all and had tones of open tables waited ten minutes to get a table then almost ten more to get a drink we only saw our server 3 times. The food was all cold and when brought to us was dropped on the table so hard my fries fell off my plate. The resturant was filthy and the health inspector should pay a surprise visit. read more
