This is the best automotive shop in the west valley, probably the state. Family run, honest and fast! I will never take any vehicle anywhere else. They are so friendly and treat every customer like family. Today, I called them while driving as my car started making a strange squealing noise (figured a bad belt) and they told me to come in right away and they would look at it. I wasn't there for more than 15 minutes when the owner came out and told me that my belt was perfect but they found a small rock in between my brake pads and rotor, causing the obnoxious sound. They removed the rock and charged me NOTHING. I can't help but wonder what this small annoyance would have costed me had I taken it to someone less knowledgeable and honest. Terrible service from somewhere else, not sure how to find a good mechanic. I went online and saw Max Automotive had good reviews. I figured I'd give it a shot. From the moment I met Kathy at the front desk, I could tell these were good people. I didn't have the yucky feeling telling me to run. This is a family run business, which is really cool. My car was up on the lift within minutes. Terry asked me to come back so he could show me exactly what he was looking at. I really appreciated that. I left my car there at 5pm and I had a call that it was done by 9:30 the next morning. The price they charged me was more than fair. I left feeling fantastic. I came to Max's while visiting my family and friends, from California. I needed my oil changed and tire pressure checked. After talking with Terry, I explained that I had been neglectful of my recommended services and, after telling him what the dealership told me that I needed to have done (rip me off), he went straight to the computer and showed me exactly what I needed to have done for the mileage on my car. It was then I decided that I would have him do the service that was needed instead of the dealership in California. He was very straight-forward, had reasonable prices and even gave me a list of future services and the mileage they were to be done at, so the dealership couldn't mess with me. LOL! The whole staff (his family) were super loving, friendly and made you feel like part of the family. Kathy gave me a ride and picked me up after the drop off/ finish of the service, and I had a great time yapping with her:) The best part of the trip to Max's? Duh....Max. Max Automotive - saved me $1600 A/C Repair Thanks to Terry pointing out we had an extended warranty, he saved me $1600 on an A/C replacement. Furthermore Terry knew how to work with the Honda dealer so that the replacement A/C was from Honda and not an after-market part. The new A/C works better than the old (when it was running "fine"). I just moved to Surprise and I needed a 90,000 mile service done. I tried to call one place that "specializes in Toyotas" in Phoenix that had some good reviews and I even emailed them, but they never replied back. I decided to check out somewhere closer to my house and Maxs came up. I called them up and they had an appointment available when I needed one. I took my car in and left it there because I had to run some errands with a Uhaul. Anyways............. I had a great experience! Terry was awesome and got my car taken care of. He even explained what was done, how he did it, what was recommended for down the road etc. Most places will either try to gouge new customers, or fix it and get you on your way like you are just a number and not really care. This place was different. They were very personable and extremely nice and friendly. I found my "car guy" and will take my car to them for as long as I am in Arizona. Very reasonably priced for what they did, too. I miss my buddy Scott from Toyota in Santee, but I feel good knowing that Terry and the Max Auto crew is nearby me now! read more

Snowbird here, returning to Wisconsin end of this week. Wanted an oil change/rotation. Arrived for scheduled appointment and my vehicle was immediately taken into the shop. Very competitive price for full synthetic oil change, was told rotation not needed (and that brakes looked good as well). I didn't time my visit, but I'd guess not much more than a half hour. A clean, modern family business focused on building repeat business by providing honest, fair service at an excellent price. Friendly people, too! I'll be back for routine maintenance next winter, and heaven forbid, anything else I might need at that time. I have no doubt I'll be treated fairly. read more

We used Max's automotive in an attempt to save some money since they were cheaper than the dealer. During a routine service of one of our company vans. Max automotive "dropped" our transmission of our van. Max Automotive attempted for several days to cover up the fact they damaged our property. It was not until we pressed to have our van back did they admit to the damage, it took further pressing on our part to have the transmission replaced. After receiving our van back, we noticed oil and coolant leaking. An inspection at a local dealer discovered approximately $8000 in total damage to our work van. To date Max automotive has refused to provide their insurance information to allow us to have our van repaired. I would personally advise against using this establishment due to thier lack of transparent business dealings. read more

I just took my 2000 Dodge Durango to Max for what I thought was low charged A/C. Not only did the A/C not blow cold enough on our move from California, the engine overheated in that terrible California traffic. Now, I am a DIY guy, and with 206K plus miles on the old girl, I thought I had all her idiosyncrasies down. 15-20 minutes after Terry took the truck in, he called me to the garage to show me that my A/C was blowing cooler than before; he did a evac and recharge; but, that my auxiliary cooling fan was not working. I had DIYed that fan several years ago when it quit working, but completely missed the symptoms of it going out this time. (I should have picked up on the lack of electric fan noise. Time to get the ears checked.) Terry could have told me that I needed a new A/C system; he could have really taken me on this, but he showed me what was wrong, and did not get an attitude when I said I would fix it myself. (Some mechanics get all pissy when you say, "Thanks for the diagnosis. I'll fix it myself.") This truck has been replaced by a 2017 Durango, and I am prepping to give to my son. My new truck will be under warranty for some time. But, for routine service, I will be taking the new one to Max; I'm getting tired of the DIY thing. Just a side note. While I was waiting, a customer was waiting for Terry to figure out why she had water dripping on her feet when she made right turns. Come to find out, the drip pan drain for her A/C condenser was clogged and she had all that water sitting in the drip pan. Terry unclogged it and the water fall started. At the end of the work, when she asked what she owed, Terry and Kathy said, "Nothing". Now that is top notch customer service. (Now don't go in there demanding free stuff. I was just pointing this out to show the type of folks this family is) I highly recommend this repair garage for all your vehicle repair needs. PS- don't forget to bring doggy snacks.
