Made an appointment for the next Saturday - in and out in 3 hours for a complete rear brake job (rotors and fluid flush) for the exact price quoted. No muss, no fuss. I just had a horrible experience with this Brake masters in surprise. They totally try to rip you off. They say the oil change is $49.95 with a coupon. They don't tell you that they're gonna add $25 for labor and you have to pay almost $40 for the oil filter. If the oil change is $49.95, what is that for if not the parts and labor? They tried to add a $140 air filter charge and the whole point I went here was to get my brakes checked which they did not do. I believe the guy who helped me was Adrian, who is worthless. He said my oil was leaking and needed a $30 plug that he didn't have. Don't go here. They lie; they commit fraud; and they hate veterans. If you're a veteran, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where you're not gonna be treated like dirt and get ripped off. We were at Home Depot and apparently our battery died. My husband walked over to Break Masters to see if they had a battery. After a few mins my husband came back with a nice gentleman was with him. The nice man (I didn't get a man) jumped the car and said it indeed was a dead battery. He told us to go to the lobby and he would be happy to get a new one. It took about 15 mins and away we went. Though the price was ok with the coupon for a synthetic oil change the service reflected much lower. My wife informed the person at the front that we would like the tire rotation, and if possible could they cross the tires, I have a auto technician degree and worked in a dealership and on cars for 20 years. This is a common practice and good for tire wear. somebody not apart of the conversation chimed in and said they have been rotating front to back for 50 years. My wife and I were up in Phoenix for a Tennis Tournament at the Surprise Tennis Complex. We live in Tucson and we're headed back to our hotel in downtown Phoenix. The low oil light came on and we looked on Yelp for Auto service places near the Tennis complex. We found Brake Masters nearby and headed there. The Receptionist was very friendly and said that she would have someone look at it. They checked our car as we waited in the very nice lobby and added a quart of the correct oil. Before going here I searched Yelp reviews on different brake companies. It's pretty normal to find low ratings on any place that deals with vehicle repair. After reading several reviews here, all the positive ones seem to mention Pete. All the negative ones at this particular location talk about previous store managers that are no longer there. I came to Brake Masters this morning to have my battery cables looked at. The gentleman assisting me was absolutely amazing and assisted me right away. However, I want to post about another customer's experience here. She was an elderly lady and came in to get an oil change. The gentleman assisting her was very kind to her while he got her information, he then grabbed her keys and she took a seat. A few minutes later he came back in and explained that she was going by the date on her oil change sticker, not the mileage and he could tell, without even looking at her mileage, that she had only driven a few hundred miles in the last 3 months; she wasn't in need of an oil change - her filters were still brand new and oil was still full. He told her to come back in about 4-6 weeks and he'd check everything for her again. They did all of this at no cost to the woman. I'm VERY impressed with the honesty and level of customer service at this place. If you need car work done I HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

I've been taking my car here for a very long time because I work in the parking lot and it's very easy to drop my car off but today they told me they would call me when my car is ready and text me and I got no response from them for the entire day. I went to pick my car up and all the doors are locked and my car is locked inside the building. This is very inconvenient. Trying to find a ride to come pick me up. I am stranded in the late afternoon trying to get my car back so now I have to find a ride home tonight and a trip back up here tomorrow I am really livid. I will never come back to this place and they will be getting an earful in the morning when I show up to get my car because no one has reached out to me that it was ready, and now all the doors are locked and the lights are off and the phone just keeps ringing and there's no voicemail This is extremely inconvenient. Went to the discount that does my tires and they can tell that my lug nuts were striped very recently because of the metal. So displeased, I would never come here unless you want DISHONEST people working on your car. Went to brake masters (Peoria) originally in 2010 for lifetime brakes on both axels. It used to be a good deal. Labor was affordable. Now they charge the same price when you are going in for just labor on lifetime brakes as the same cost as lifetime brakes on a vehicle that's never had service done before. It doesn't make sense. Talking with the manager and showing receipts from years before on the cost of labor made him realize the price was not adding up and I was getting ripped off and all he had to say was "corporate sets the prices." Their jingle and marketing is no longer "we give you an honest brake" because they are now paid by commissions and sales since corporate "changed its policies." One of the service techs that started 10 years ago agreed and remembered it being half the cost on labor when he started. To top it all off they didn't know how to efficiently use the Point of Sale system all while telling me sorry for the inconvenience. Don't be sorry be professional when you charge those kinds of prices. Cuz each little hiccup should mean a few bucks off. Might as well go to a dealership if you are getting charged dealership prices. At least they treat me with respect and have snacks while they are screwing me. Hello I got my brakes changed at this store which I always go to them and I have gave them my business for sometime. My brakes were changed in December and my incident happen January 24th. It took them 4 hours to change my brakes.... Which is not normal at all.. I asked the manager if there was a problem because I seen a young lady working on my truck but she kept stopping and going and asking questions and getting other people's help or advice .. so needless to say 4 hours later I was told my truck was ready.. as soon as I left I could hear a noise that I have never heard before when I would brake... I was told it was probably just a loose brake clip and nothing to worry about. Also told sometimes the aftermarket brake pads don't fit perfect like the Ford stock brake pads. On January 24th I'm driving down the freeway and my brakes snap. I could not stop the vehicle and I was going 75 miles an hour... This put my life in danger and I also put other people's lives in danger. I had to take an exit and do my best to coast to a stop in a neighborhood I had to run through a red light and honk my horn. I paid $340 dollars for the truck to get towed to the garage where I could have it looked at. I was told by the mechanic there that both of my calipers where broken and brake masters reinstalled them this way and sent me on my way out of the shop. It cost me $580 to get the truck fixed. This is unacceptable. I have given you guys my business for sometime now with multiple vehicles. I will never come to you guys again... read more

This place was fair. I needed to get brakes done as the dealership advised the week before that they were getting really low. Pulled in thinking is this place going to try to rip me off. I did not mention that I had just been to the dealership for an oil change the week before. After their inspection they came out and told me exactly what the dealership had told me, rear brakes needed to be replaced and the front brakes were at about half. Also mentioned the air filter and cabin filter needed replacing just as the dealership said. Very fair shop. I would recommend this place as an honest place to get work performed. The only drawback to this shop is their location. It is a madhouse trying to get and out of the complex it is located in. read more

He draws out a literal diagram every time and tells me the things I can sit on for a little without getting them fixed right away instead of telling me i need 100 things done to make a profit! I've been to other Brake Masters in the past and truly thought it was a reputable company; but after visiting the Surprise location I felt like it was a sketchy fly-by-night operation. Our check engine light had come on but not with any specific issues noted. Our car was running fine, and we weren't having any issues what-so-ever but we took it in so that they could check whatever code it is and take care of it. $975 later they told us they had fixed whatever was causing the code and we were good to go. The next time we started the car there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. My husband said the technician had said that might happen with the clean out that they did and give it sometime. We called back on March 1 (three days later) because the car was still putting out white smoke when we started it. My husband was told that this was normal after the procedure that they did and that it should go away after driving about 300 miles. Since we are not driving often right now it us about two weeks to get to 300 miles. We called and were told to bring it back in. We brought it back and were charged another $69.95 and told that we needed "high way miles" to clear the smoke. We went on a road trip and the low oil light came on. We discovered that the car was now leaking or burning oil - which it had not been doing before. We've never had to add oil between oil changes in the length of time we have had the car. We added oil to the car so we could continue the trip and contacted Brake Masters yet again. They had us bring the car back in today 4/14/2021. The technician gave us a new list of items to be fixed. So, I recapped that we brought our car in for the check engine light being on and we leave with a new problem - the car blowing out smoke (and losing oil). He suggested that maybe we put in the wrong kind of oil when we added oil on the trip (despite the fact that it was blowing out smoke before we added oil and after we brought it to them). He also said that it was just a coincidence that the smoke and oil issue happened at the same time we brought it in to them (despite the original technician telling us it was a result of what they did and would stop after 300 miles. Instead of Brake Masters fixing whatever the check engine light was -- they have done extensive damage to our car's engine by creating this oil leak smoke issue. We highly recommend that if you want your car to be treated well you avoid this place! Side note, if you are concerned about COVID contagions, despite their website having a pop up that literally reads, "We are dedicated to your safety and well-being, which is why we are striving to both meet and exceeded the CDC/WHO standards for the prevention of COVID-19." None of the employees wore masks and they crowded within a foot of me when speaking to me. read more

Against my better judgement because I have always gone here to brake masters. I put new tires on my car and know its best to get an alignment after. Didn't notice anything else wrong with my tires or steering just knew it was best to get done after getting new tires so with my coupon I went to brakes plus Long story short, they make you get an appointment, which is crazy because you still have to wait and told me it could be up to 3 hours. After an hour they said they wouldn't even do an alignment unless I got new tie rods for $280 bucks.... Then they gave me an estimate of everything from oil change struts shocks for almost $1400. I didn't feel right especially noticing how struts and shock were on promotion and In being in management I know upper management will push promo items. So I said no! and went to BRAKE MASTER They got me right in no appointment needed I didn't mention my experience at brakes plus to see what they would say. Less then an hour my car was done. And they were ready for me to pay. I asked if my left tie rod was out. And if my struts and shocks were needing to be replaced. They said no and happily took me out to show me my car on the lift. Had me in gloves so I could feel that everything was fine. They said maybe in the future I might need a right strut, maybe as it showed a tiny bit of leaking. I felt super secure in what they showed me. And that said if and when I chose to get my shocks done they will beat any estimate and do another alignment for free. Side note while waiting in the waiting room I saw tons of outstanding customer service of going above an beyond. Took list to Pete, who works at Brake Masters, who laughed at the outrageous quotes and was able to do the repairs for $600 less than the dealer quoted. I am still on the fence on whether or not I would recommend this place to others. Reason being is that when I first arrived everybody there is super friendly and Pete was very helpful throughout My entire visit and was willing to work with me.The service was fairly fast to you within a day they had ordered the parts and repaired my car" said that it now drives like a dream. However the prices were extremely high not fair nor reasonable at all and after reading other reviews and hearing or should I say reading that one of the managers the general manager had said that it's their policy to mark up the parts that they use up by 250% which isRidiculous. One review I read read was some girl who ended up buying the parts elsewhere and brought them in to be used ended up originally being charged almost 22 to 2300 including tax and labor probably would've came out to 2500 and saved 2000 by buying the parts elsewhere and only spending about 500 for the parts total from somewhere else but then got screwed over in the long run. In my situation I ended up paying 2300 for all repairs done which included a full synthetic oil change for $104 the brake service for $504 and replacement of my front control arms for $1545 in alignment for $89 the total came out two $2400 however pete did work with me and applied several coupons which on the website says you can only use one at a time however he ignored that and literally used for five different coupons for me which saved me a little about 100 $150 and it doesn't seem like much out of almost $2400 but when you're spending that much every dollar counts so I did appreciate that. The only reason I agreed to pay that much and not buy the parts parts elsewhere which I could've easily done and saved about $600-$700 but would not have had the warranty that they offer and I was getting repairs done on my BMW 750 LI. So for that reason I wasn't trying to look for the lowest price the cheapest price because you do get what you pay for and I needed the insurance that it was going to be a job well done provided with warranty just in case. On the drive home leaving the shop pete was right car drove like a dream almost brand new it seemed. However later that night and early the following morning my car started making new noises accompanied by the old noises so now I'm getting the idea that they didn't even do the job right to begin with and possibly might've messed something else up. I am getting ready to go back into the shop now and tell him about what is now happening and see what they are willing to do for it. As soon as I reach an outcome for this I will be better ableTo give them more deserving rating and review well not reviewed this is already long enough but a more definite rating as far as the star system goes and whether or not I would recommend anybody to the shop. This is a third posting. Had work done to my car last week and was more than displeased. Came in today to request a refund for my oil change since they forgot to put any in and I had to do it myself. Caught it early so no harm done but I did have heart attack at the time. Long story short, new store Manager Pete took care of me and made it right. With him in charge, I've decided I will come back. I've been coming here 10 years and was going to never come back, but dealing with an honest, knowledgeable person and his efforts to make my horrible situation I suffered right...I will now recommend them. My father took in his truck because it was making a noise. They told him the fuel pump was bad. He agreed for them to replace the fuel pump. Retail on the fuel pump is $186 brake master charge them $744. They are gouging people on there part. When I confronted the store manager Richard he said it's their business practice to mark up parts 250%. They take advantage of people.
