I am giving Max Electric a one-star review based on my experience with their communication, professionalism, estimating process, and pricing. On April 28, Tyler from Max Electric visited my home to provide quotes for two projects: a panel upgrade and replacement of the remaining knob-and-tube wiring. I explained that the panel upgrade was the more urgent project and was my highest priority. Tyler informed me that the estimating process would take approximately two days. To be fair, I did receive the estimate for the knob-and-tube work within about two weeks. However, despite numerous follow-up phone calls and emails, I did not receive the panel upgrade estimate until June 17--nearly seven weeks after the initial visit. When the panel upgrade estimate finally arrived, it included several line items that were not required and were outside the scope of the work I requested. After asking for clarification and requesting that the unnecessary items be removed, I was told that the line items did not matter because the total project cost would remain unchanged. That completely defeats the purpose of providing an itemized quote and raises concerns about transparency. The pricing itself was also significantly higher than I expected for the work involved. Homeowners deserve accurate, clearly defined proposals that reflect the actual scope of the project. I was told that the lengthy delay was due to communications with PG&E. In my view, an electrical contractor that regularly performs service upgrades should have established processes and communication channels with PG&E. Using that as an explanation for a nearly seven-week turnaround does not inspire confidence. The complete lack of proactive communication throughout this process was especially disappointing. I repeatedly had to initiate contact to get updates, and responses were slow or nonexistent. Professionalism and communication are just as important as technical ability when hiring a contractor. Because of this experience, Max Electric did not just lose these two projects--they lost any future work I may have, as well as any recommendations I might otherwise have given to friends, family, and neighbors. Trust is earned through transparency, responsiveness, and reliability, and unfortunately my experience fell far short of those expectations. Max Electric did an incredible job on the knob and tube remediation for our entire single family home in the Outer Sunset. We also had them add a few outlets and fix our gate buzzer. They were ran an incredibly clean job site and executed the work in a very efficient timeframe. Their work is flawless, it's very clear they take pride in their work which is wonderful. Working with Raushan (Sean) was a wonderful experience. He was an excellent communicator throughout the entire process and always gave prompt updates on progress as well as keeping us in the loop. Sean is so friendly, nice, knowledgeable and explains things very well, it was a pleasure working with him. From the initial walkthrough with Maksim (Max) to final inspection, Max Electric provided a wealth of expertise and professionalism, happily teaching me about how the electrical system worked and proving excellent recommendations. I hired Andrei from Max Electric to install 4 lights outside the building, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Andrei was extremely structured and efficient from the start. He quickly inspected the area, explained his plan step by step, and got straight to work. He came fully prepared with all the tools and materials in his truck, so I didn't have to lift a finger. Andrei worked tirelessly for 8 hours, completing the job to perfection while keeping the workspace clean and organized. I've been hiring Max Electric for various tasks over the past year for all of the properties I manage. They're punctual, knowledgeable and all-around great guys. This morning, we had Estalin who came by and knocked out a host of issues in an hour. Great job! I've used Fuse before for dryer repair, and they provided excellent service. I had the same very positive experience with their work when my AC broke. The job was challenging due to the old age of my unit and the lack of parts identical to what the original unit had. Alan was excellent - he diagnosed the problem, found compatible parts for my unit, worked a 12-hour day to get the AC up and running, and took the time to verify that the unit was working correctly. I had a very disappointing experience with Max. He showed up late and didn't seem prepared for the job. The work he did was sloppy, and I had to call someone else to fix the issues he left behind. Communication was poor, and he didn't take responsibility for the mistakes. To make matters worse, he charged more than what we originally agreed on without explaining why.
