I arranged for a move a week before the end of the month and Ivan was able to fit me in on the only day I could move. They gave a really fair quote and we adjusted as needed, when I realized I had a few more items. Alex and Vidali showed up on time at the pick up address and were quick and efficient with the move. They wrapped everything and strapped all items down properly in the truck. Upon drop off, they took the same care with the items. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to family and friends. Sardor and team moved everything out of our apartment and into their truck, making sure to wrap all our furniture and two TVs very thoroughly. They were great. Very communicative through emails in the days leading up to the move to make sure everything was correctly arranged. On the day they called to tell me they were on the way so I did not have to keep watching out the window. They were on time, did a great job and were very careful with my things. Not the most talkative bunch, but these guys were efficient and got my stuff where it needed to go in good shape. They actually beat me to the pickup location and did a nice job of pulling their truck into a fairly narrow alleyway to unload my stuff. Like most moving services, consider using the Unpakt price as a starting point for negotiations, not an end point. Honestly, the hourly rate might be the best way to go; it seems like the typical price for a one bedroom move within the city would be ~$350, which is not bad at all. read more

Very unprofessional crew. Firstly, we sent them an itemized list of what we needed moved, and when the movers showed up, they told us they only move things that are in boxes. We had to purchase expensive boxes from them to put our vacuum sealed clothing bags in them, among other things. We hired 3 movers as per Ivan's recommendations, but the 3rd one showed up 1hr into the move. They moved one box at a time, to waste time, and took a few cigarette breaks. I wouldn't mind the breaks, moving is not an easy job after all, but when you are being charged by the half hour, and it gets rounded up, it adds up. Our job took 4hr 35min and we got charged the full 5hrs. We also got charged for parking meters, and there were none close by. Overall, they are cheaper than other moving companies, but I'd rather pay a little more, and have less work to do both packing and unpacking. If you do hire them, make sure to read what they do and do not move. Also, if you have any furniture that is of value, go with another company. They kept dropping our copper chairs in the hallway and on the street. read more

I've used this company three times for three different moves over the course of 6 or so years. Incredible job each time. I am not easily impressed, but each move they continue to amaze me at with their promptness, professionalism, and efficiency. Ivan is extremely responsive via email to set up. On moving day, mike texted me on their way with an eta of 20 minutes early so they could set up, assess the inventory, get paperwork signed and start right on time. Their prices are among the best in the city. They wrap each piece of furniture with care at no additional charge. These guys were great. They quoted a very fair price and also a flat travel time (which is amazing since there is inevitably going to be traffic in the city. As for the actual move, they were quick and packed all my breakables/furniture safely. They had a ton of packing blankets, protective wrap, and extra packing supplies on hand and mostly all included in price (aside from TV packign which is expected.) When we got to my new apt, they couldn't find a parking spot so they parked around the corner and carried everything down the street so they could complete the move. Not an easy feat on a day that was 90+ degrees out!! they were very pleasant throughout and professional. I would definitely reccommend these guys. Maxi Moving helped me take the last few pieces of furniture and appliances from my apartment in a small move from Gramercy to the Upper West Side. The owner, Ivan, contacted me immediately about a quote on Yelp and helped me expedite the process to book only two days in advance at a very reasonable fee of 175 for 2 hours and 75 per hour after that. The delivery guys arrived promptly, wrapped up all my furniture well, and made sure everything fragile was well protected. They were very quick as well; the whole process only took 2.5 hours, and they prorated the payment for every half hour, which was very convenient. When I'm again moving within the city I'll definitely be giving them a call. read more

Very nice movers. We had a small problem with the move -- we had a miscommunication about how much stuff we had to move. They sent a dodge sprinter and 4 guys to move us, but it was going to take at least 2 trips. Given that it was almost an hour drive from upper Manhattan to Brooklyn, we didn't want to pay for an extra 2 hours of 4 guys' time driving back and forth. Despite it being a busy weekend, the dispatchers took care of us, and had a larger truck come that evening. We ended up having to wait, only finishing moving in after 11. However, they did it quickly and took pretty good care of our stuff. We used BoxUp reusable boxes, which definitely helped make it quick and efficient. The team was nice and worked their asses off, despite it being their third move of the day. The price seemed pretty reasonable. I'd use them again. Note: I seem to recall they offered a cash discount. read more

When I called and changed the date of the move at the last minute, they were cooperative and flexible. They agreed to change the date without any additional costs or fees. We recently moved from an apartment in New York to our first home in New Jersey. Maxi moving was recommended to us by a friend. We had to change our moving date three times and Ivan our contact person was very accommodating. On the day of move Alex and his team came to help us. They were extremely efficient and fast. They were very careful with fragile stuff and packed everything very nicely. All the mattresses and leather couch were nicely packed. They carry extra boxes and packing supplies with them that you can buy from them if you need. While unloading all the boxes and furniture, Alex and his guys were very careful not to stain fresh painted walls in our new home. I really appreciated the care they took with the entire move. I haven't reviewed anything, but the service experienced with Maxi Moving warranted a few quick notes here. Like others I got a quote from them via Unpakt and they were by far one of the most competitive. With the reviews to back them up we decided to give them a chance. Despite a clerical issue with Unpakt (advice: always confirm your move info with the mover directly no matter what Unpakt is telling you), on the day of the move Stefan and his team were awesome. They made our move from a doorman building to a multistory townhouse one of the less stressful and event free experiences during the whole process. His team was on time, professional, friendly, and most of all efficient, careful, and quick. While we opted to do our own packing, all of our stuff was wrapped and handled with care by the crew. The customer service and experience was top notch, and Stefan ran a great crew to make sure everything went the way it was supposed to. These guys work hard but the guy in charge is pretty shady. His accent comes on pretty strong when he's explaining fees so you don't really understand what the fees are but they seem small but they sure do add up to a lot. Also, he tried to get me to pay him for tolls he would get by moving me from Manhattan to Bronx, I told him there were no tolls, just follow my car. He repeatedly made wrong turns to get lost on purpose sine they're getting paid by the hour. There wasn't much damage to the furniture, just a few scratches here and there, and nothing was stolen. He will try to intimidate you into a bigger tip even after hitting you with a few hundred dollars in fees that you didn't know about. Also the insurance is a joke. It's only a few cents per pound. So if your laptop is stolen or broken and it weighs 5 pounds, you may get $1 for that insurance claim. read more

They moved me from a 3rd floor walkup with very awkward, narrow and tight stairs and all my furniture were carefully wrapped and nothing was dented/scratched/damaged during the move. Another year, another apartment -- that's New York for you, right? I don't use anyone else to move my things. Ivan welcomed me back and was super accommodating. He made me feel less annoying as I threw around several moving dates at him to see if they were available. He was mindful of saving me money by offering off-peak times, which I appreciate. Come to think of it: the last time I moved I was overcharged (honest miscalculation of only $20), and while I would have been perfectly fine if they kept it, Ivan reached out to me to return it. He called it good karma. I wouldn't be surprised if I never found another business more honest than Maxi. Anyways, this time around was in no way below the level of service that I expect from them. Max took the lead with the three people that came to move my things.
