As much as I would love to give this place 4-5 stars I can't do it because of a major issue. This store has an excellent selection of cigars and a really nice and knowledgeable tobacconist. I would go to this place once a week on my day off from work just to relax and unwind and enjoy a great cigar but the store recently adopted a members only policy where you must pay $175 annually and in exchange you get 10 percent off any cigar you purchase in the store. I came in recently and spent $27 on a cigar. If I were to go to the store once a week and purchase a $27 cigar once a week the store would actually make over $1400 a year which is way more than $175. It's almost like they don't care about the money and just want a certain clientele who are rich enough and don't care where their money is spent and obviously the gentleman who owns this store doesn't understand he can make a massive profit if he were to welcome anyone from the community into the store to relax and smoke. Even if someone were to come once a week and smoke a $10 cigar weekly the store would make about $520 annually. This is a total shame because I really enjoyed coming here and they lost me as a customer. I really hope the owner reconsiders and decides to change the policy so more people can enjoy the lounge. read more

A cigar smoker's paradise. Stopped by with my husband who enjoys a good stogie. Mike, manager on duty Sunday afternoon greeted us warmly, introduced us into the humidor and explained how the lounge membership works. We were welcomed to enjoy the lounge at this non-busy time. Mike cut the cigar in the requested style and even gave my husband a tube for stashing his cigar to finish later. The lounge is long and narrow, lined with deep soft leather seats, several flat screens, and there's fresh coffee and an espresso machine- help yourself, or just ask for a fresh pod of espresso if needed. All are welcome to bring their own libations. Ice is available. Only cigars purchased here may be smoked in the lounge- which is perfectly reasonable. It's all wood and leather with cigar inspired artwork and classic logos on the walls. Cigar magazines, plenty of king size ashtrays and matchboxes at hand. Very manly atmosphere! Some nice doo wop tunes were piping in. If you're along for the ride but not a cigar aficionado you are welcome to smoke cigarettes! Members get discount on purchases and it sounds like a nice deal. I was so impressed by Mike's warm and friendly service. There were three or so other smokers while we were there who also made us newcomers feel like we belonged. Their motto is 'come as strangers, leave as friends' and Maxi's has nailed it. Word is that it's packed on Friday/Saturday nights so that's probably not the time for a guest visit just to check it out, since members (rightly) have first dibs on the seating. Very comfortable cigar lounge. The owner, Jack, is always willing to help you out and lend a hand selecting the right stick for your mood and palate. Plenty of flat screen televisions (usually tuned into whatever games are on) and a good amount of nice leather chairs. This lounge is amazing. All new leather chairs, television screens on every wall, updated decor and a walk in humidor with every cigar imaginable. Excellent selection of sticks to choose from. Sure to appeal to any palate. Your host Jack is great. Always friendly and willing to share his food. This is THE place. Was in the area from Los Angeles for a trade show and a colleague and I stopped in after finding it on Yelp. What a wonderful surprise. Small, but very well stocked humidor with VERY knowledgeable staff. When we walked in I noticed that a sign above the lounge said 'Members Only' and inquired if we could still enjoy a stick in the lounge. Without hesitation they said yes and the camaraderie in the lounge was as if we were local members. Comfortable leather chairs and plenty of big screens. A special shout out to Ray for his 'generosity'...he'll know. Lastly, as we were leaving and saying our goodbyes, someone said to us 'Remember, when you come back, your home is here at Maxi's'. The shop caters to a decidedly male clientele, however staff and patrons were all polite and friendly in the presence of ladies (there was one besides yours truly). Great little neighborhood place. Although there are some guys and gals that travel a bit to get there. I was a J Barbera refuge after they closed down and I tried Maxis. Different texture, but warm and welcoming. The prices are New York street prices, meaning way too much tax, but that is part of what pays for a nice warm place to have a cigar in the winter time. There are seven or eight televisions, so you can watch most anything you want, and the refrigerator always has cold water and some other drinks. Their cigar selection slants towards Rocky Patel. I actually met Rocky there at a holiday party at Maxis this last winter. They do carry a good selection of Padron, Fuente, Ashton, and etc. There is a great pipe group that meets on Friday nights and Maxis carries a pretty good selection of pipe tobacco also. read more

Great local place with very eclectic and friendly regulars. This place seems to cater to regular blue collar gentleman that enjoy great smokes socializing. They have a great reasonably priced selection and plenty of comfortable seating all facing plenty if TV's. The owner Jack is a great guy and very knowledgeable about cigars. I went to a Rocky Patel event there. I purchased a box of cigars, got my picture taken with Rocky Patel, he autographed my box and I got 5 free cigars.
