Everything was super fresh and light which is exactly what I was looking for. My only preference would have been having actual avocado slices on the salad but it was overall tasty with the various vegetables and dressing used. Everyone else at the table enjoyed what they ordered. I can tell the chef puts in hard work and dedication into their dishes which is something I greatly appreciate. If you're looking to eat lean, refreshing food then I'd recommend coming here. The prices are a bit higher but it is appropriate for the location of the restaurant. So we ended up at this restaurant after learning our first choice didn't open until 4:30 pm. We were walking in the plaza trying to figure out where to eat and everyone's table that we passed at this establishment, their food looked amazing. We needed up asking to see a menu (which they had printed on sheets of paper, one menu per customer very covid friendly). Long story short we picked this place. We ordered the seared tuna as a starter and it was some of the freshest tuna I ever had. We were all satisfied with our drinks and dishes. Which were: chicken sandwich w/ sweet potato fries, crab crusted mahi, grilled burger with blue cheese and fries and kids Mac and cheese with fries. Everyone was very satisfied. The drinks were also very good. Pricy but good. The total bill shocked us a bit but we were in Boca lol. All in all great restaurant, the greeters were nice and our server was amazing. On Saturday I went with my girlfriend and her mother to Max's Grille for lunch. I have been there in the past and I always remembered them as having very fresh food. When we arrived we were greeted by the hostess and asked if we wanted to be seated inside or outside. We asked for outside and they seated us in a very nice booth. Even though it was hot outside, there was plenty of shade and Max's had fans blowing so we were very comfortable. Our friendly waiter came over to our table, introduced himself, brought us menus and then said he would return shortly for our drink orders. After a few minutes, the waiter came back. We were ready so we ordered our food and drinks at the same time. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer to start with. I ordered the chicken burger while my girlfriend ordered the vegetarian spaghetti and meatballs while her mother got the Max's chopped salad. The spinach dip came out first. It cost $13 and was cheesy and creamy and tasted great. Eventually, our entrees came out. The chicken burger I ordered was $15 and came with a side of sweet potato fries. It was small and bland and had no real flavor. It didn't seem to be seasoned at all. In fact, this appeared to be just a breast of chicken that was quickly grilled. Chicken burgers are supposed to be ground up chicken meat and then seasoned. I have had some very good chicken and turkey burgers at other places but this was not one of them. In fact, it tasted very similar to a chicken "sandwich" you can order at McDonald's except a lot more expensive (honestly, the McDonald's ones have more flavor). The sweet potato fries were good but it would be nice to have some choice on the side. My girlfriend's vegetarian spaghetti and meatballs consisted of quinoa-eggplant "meatballs", spaghetti squash, calabrian chilies, broccoli florets, vegan mozzarella, fresh basil and san marzano tomato sauce. It was okay but I think charging $19 for a vegetarian meal like this is pretty expensive. I suspect if you added up the price of all of the ingredients, you're paying quite a markup. Finally, the mother's Max's cobb salad looked good and consisted of asiago cheese, green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, carrots, chickpeas, corn, red wine vinaigrette. I tried a little. It was fine but nothing special. It's the same salad you can get at a million other restaurants. It was a little on the pricey side at $12. Overall, the setting and service were a solid 4 stars. We had a nice booth outside and a good waiter. However, the food (particularly my chicken burger) was only very average. If you combine that with the relatively high prices (I know it's Mizner but price still factors in), I can't give the food more than 3 stars. If I could give half stars, I would give Max's a 3.5 star overall rating. However, since I can't and I don't think they are a 4 star restaurant, I am giving them a 3 star overall review. I might return at some point but it will likely be a while. read more

I've been officially living in Boca for over 2 years now. And while most of our exploring with restaurants has been limited between the pandemic and having a baby, we finally managed to go here for lunch last week. We figured it must be good since it has so many reviews but...someone please explain to me why this place has so many high ratings? Truthfully I didn't check the menu online before going because I figured at best I've able to find something I liked, but when we arrived the menu was underwhelming. So much so that I decided on the spinach and artichoke dip. Maybe it was because the prices for lunch were kinda ridiculous. My husband ordered a "steakhouse burger" for $27. Huh? The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the drinks during happy hour were decent and also service was good, but even great service can't make up for a lackluster menu and overall lack of taste. STAY AWAY! recently went for my birthday dinner and not only was it overpriced, but the service was mediocre. being that they charge you a 20% service fee for a party of 5 or more, why would they bother to check on you? Also, this is not mentioned, unless you read the fine print on the bottom of the menu. As mentioned, it was my birthday and when we asked if they sang "Happy Birthday,: their response was " we give you a small dessert." Food is always great. We've been here several times over the years when visiting from Chicago. Our menu was as varied as our table (ages 81, 54, 50, 49 and 15). While in town on vacation, we were looking for a kid friendly place to grab some dinner. We headed to Mizner Plaza as it seemed like a good spot for shopping, food, and dessert. SO quaint. A great place to walk and hangout. We stopped in at Max's upon reading rave reviews, many that noted it had a great kid's menu, and have to say we were not disappointed. There was indoor and outdoor seating and opted for indoor with the kids and the heat. Lots of tables and booth seating available, as well as a bar area. We were greeted and seated promptly and the host was very friendly. Once seated, we were greeted by our waitress, Maria. She was awesome! So great with our kids (they were definitely hitting their expiration time of the night), friendly, efficient and gave good recommendations on the food. My husband and I each ordered a drink- a Tito's mule and Bacardi and coke. We both enjoyed our beverages. For dinner my husband got the pork chops off their classics section, and I ordered the turkey burger. For our littles, one got the grilled cheese and the other ordered the cheese pizzette. All of our meals were delicious. It's always hit-and-miss when you order things like a burger or pork chops in a restaurant, they can come out pretty overcooked and dry, but not here! My husband's pork chop was savory and moist and had a great sear on it. My turkey burger was juicy and anything but overcooked and dry, and had great flavor. You HAVE to get the sweet potato fries if those are your thing, because these were tri-colored fries. Looking like they were regular sweet orange, purple and either white or Japanese variety. They were so good! And you NEVER see anything but regular orange sweet potatoes when you go out, especially in fry form. Our children both enjoyed their meals and after having a taste of each, can agree they were good as well. This was a great place right in the middle of a great social plaza. Max's Grill is located in the center of Mizner Park. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and are dog friendly if you decide to dine alfresco. I had been there a few years ago for dinner and I really enjoyed it. This time I visited for brunch with a few friends. We started out with some cocktails. I opted for the bloody Mary, which was delicious. A friend got the sangria which she liked very much, For our main dishes I had the chicken Milanese, which was so good. My friends tried the kanisu role, southwest Cobb and another had tacos. Everyone enjoyed their food and we had a great time. The service was excellent and we will revisit. read more

Nice place and pretty full for lunch. We were sat within 5 min of arrival. Our waitress "Payton" was WOW (well recommended if you come here) her service is bar-non compared to many other places we've been to. The food was also good. My Ceasar salad was nice and full the fish taco would have been a bit tastier if they had added a crunch (like hard shell taco) but that's just my preference. We also had the Brussels sprouts which were a bit on the sweet side but who doesn't like sweets :-))) (should be on the desert menu). Let me start this by saying I haven't eaten here...yet. And I've never written a review for a restaurant without trying the food first but here's why this place gets 5 stars regardless: My very dear friend and I were walking around Mizner and had clearly eaten already when we came upon max's. Two managers were organizing some patio furniture and they stopped to bullshit with my friend. They knew he wasn't going to eat there and that we had already had dinner. And they still shook our hands, joked with us and made me want to eat there. What they didn't know...my friend is very ill and feeling normal for the ten minutes that Todd and his fellow manager, whose name I didn't get...my bad...was better than any meal they could serve us. And for this small ten minutes of laughing and joking around I will be eternally grateful for. And since Max's has been in business for 28 years...and I've only been down in southern Florida for 6, I plan on making it my new regular spot. Customer service in this world is difficult. Max's nailed it. They could have ignored us. It was a rainy and slow day. They probably wanted to go home. It was almost closing time. We weren't patrons of their establishment. Inthey went above and beyond to make us feel like we should be patrons. Thanks to the management team at Max's. Todd is clearly a good leader and it shows. Will definitely be in regular from now on! Went with my girlfriends to eat! We had shrimp cocktail, Brussels sprouts, and seared ahi tuna appetizers-all awesome! The Brussels sprouts are legit off the chain yummy! We originally came to Mizner Park for the Boca Pumpkin Patch Festival but when we saw how crowded it was, we were a bit turned off and changed plans. Without really knowing much about it, we decided to have brunch at Max's Grille and we loved it. I love that they have so many different options. So I got to eat sushi (which I love but my husband never wants to eat) while my husband was able to enjoy brunch food. And the brunch didn't just come with your average breakfast potatoes, it came with these extraordinarily delicious potato pancakes. Would go back here in a heartbeat. read more

Located in the ritzy Mizner Park square, it's got a nice outside patio and bar, and inside, decent ambiance, service, selection, and presentation -- but average in the actual food. My table of 10 tried all sorts of stuff for appetizers, and the only thing worth writing about was the Crispy Reuben Egg Rolls [$14, 4.0 stars]. For my entree, I ordered the 12OZ DOUBLE BONE-IN PORK CHOP with bourbon maple bbq glazed, sweet potato mash, and brussels sprouts [$29, 4.0 stars]. It was decent, for sure, but all the around the table, the food varied from not good to okay. No one loved it. In fact, I may have liked my meal the most. The highlight of the evening were the desserts, and they were REALLY good. Mixed Berry Crème Brulee Pie, Key Lime Pie, Turtle Pumpkin Cheesecake -- all $12, and near 5.0 stars. Would I come back? I love how they expanded their outdoor bar, it's a great setting overlooking the Mizner Park for happy hour or late night dining. We enjoyed the margarita pizza, the spicy, salmon, sushi, roll, and the tacos for happy hour. I paired it with an Apperal spritz your favorite drink since going to Italy last summer. First and foremost, Dianna made this visit. What an awesome server. Kind, thoughtful, attentive, and funny. I wish I could give higher marks for the service. Dianna saw that our family was hot, exhausted, and burnt out with a 1 and 4 year old, and therefore made sure each of us felt extra taken care of - my daughter's hamburger came out as quick as possible along with an icey lemonade on the house; we got a great big personal fan/air conditioner (it was SO HOT, but with two kiddos we had to sit outside so they could roam); and once we finally ordered, our food was out quick. And it was SO fresh and delicious! I had asked for a recommendation, and even though the seared tuna (medium rare) with fried rice wasn't something I usually order, I went for it because I could tell Dianna knew what was what. I was NOT disappointed. Very much the opposite. For once I was not looking longingly at someone else's food. The tuna was seared perfectly with a spicy (but not too hot) sauce, and the rice was full of vegetables and flavor. I also got to eat half of my daughter's hamburger and some of her fries - both excellent. Rich cheddary cheese and charbroiled burger. I would go back just for that. It was last Saturday night at an outdoor umbrella-table for the four of us. We had reservations and it was crowded, but we were seated within a few minutes. An old man was playing soft jazzy songs on a cornet by the street and a young man 20 yards behind him on a concrete path between restaurants was singing and playing various shades of rock and roll on a guitar that should not have been amplified. Happily we could still hear each other talking. There was valet parking for $6, but I later found out you could probably find parking a few blocks away for free. To start, I wanted a sweet white wine by the glass and our waiter was very helpful suggesting their Reisling. I'm not a connoisseur of fine wines, but theirs hit the spot. I skipped the appetizer and saved myself for dessert. My entree was a swordfish steak with a side of broccoli with thinly sliced garlic. Both were done right and light, not swimming in butter, but still soft and juicy. I didn't expect anything special, but was pleasantly surprised. The dessert I ordered, a fresh berries creme brulee, was more than enough for all four of us and I couldn't be angry with myself for taking a second slice. I use to love this place and actually picked it for my first anniversary lunch. But I guess they stop serving ethnic people the moment they have snow birds that descend into Boca. We requested an outdoor table in the shade since we had our labrador with us. The hostess texted us saying they have a table but its in the sun. We texted back saying we'll wait for a shaded table. Once we got the text back, we went for our table. The first was in the sub while I saw 3 women just sitting down on a very shaded table outside. The woman showing me to the table cared less and I went inside. The lady gave us a few more options (all in sun). There was a table next to it which was shaded and i requested that. The lady showing us to our table didnt even bother to clean it and said "either take this or we cant help you". I guess that speaks volumes about this restaurant. Never coming again (as if they would care) but letting everyone know how they treat people. read more
