I wish I could have tried their food. Made reservations on Open table for 5 Dec. 30, 2020 for 2pm. Received confirmation number mad when we went to the restaurant it was closed with no notice. Their sign out front said they are open at 11:30. Google said they are open 10:30am. Yelp said they were open at 2pm. Open table said they were open at 2pm. Their Facebook page said they were open at 2:30pm and their phone message said they open at 4pm. Which is it? Why was I allowed to confirm reservations at 2m? Sorry but in this day of 2020 going into 2021 restaurants need to be on social media and have their information accurate. There is no excuse. You will lose business.

However, I was for the steamed crabs, I was NOT disappointed. I ordered a half dozen of the extra large crabs ($8 each), half a pound of steamed shrimp (delicious), and an ear of corn (don't forget to order the corn, it is amazing). The crabs were heavy, steamed to order, absolutely delicious, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The server, the one many of you complain about as being cranky, is actually a sweetheart. She always adds a humorous touch to my dining experience. She definitely makes my visit memorable every time. Another highlight was the free music on the juke box (I don't know if it's free all the time). The music selection on the jukebox caters to most musical tastes and it adds a nostalgic and fun atmosphere to the dining experience. Overall, if you're looking for great food (especially the steamed crabs), good music, and a bit of unexpected humor, this place is a must-visit! Grabbe's I'll see you guys next week. Lol

My husband ordered a Diet Coke that they kept topping off during our time there. Only to find out they were charging us $4/refill! Mind you, the glass was filled to the brim with ice and barely any soda pop. Steak was subpar & dry for $70. Ambience.....2/10. Reminded me of my great grandmothers nursing home (rest her beautiful soul!) bill came out to nearly $200 for 2 steak dinners and 4 glasses of ice with a splash of Diet Coke. Would I recommend? No.

Let me start with the service...while our waiter was friendly she was not attentive to our table after taking the order. We noticed all the other tables had bread and we were sitting for 45 minutes after ordering our meals and did not get bread or even a refill or drinks or water. We got the attention of our server and asked for bread. 20 more minutes and she brought small basket with 5 pieces of bread (for a table of six waiting over an hour now). We asked for more and 10 minutes went by, so we asked again assuming they forgot. We were told it's in the oven. Finally, another small basket of 5 slices shows up in another 10 minutes. After 90 minutes our apps arrived. Seafood chowder was ok at best, raw clams were tasty, salads and dressings were very good. Our meals came soon after, but total wait from when we sat was 2 hours. Steaks were very good, salmon was average at best, seafood pasta was ok, halibut special was decent. Overall, the entrees were forgettable. We ordered desserts which were surprisingly fantastic. The rice pudding, crem brûlée, and their cheesecake/ice cream were all delicious. Now back to the service....by the time we finished dessert, not one water glass was refilled and the table wasn't bussed. We piled our empty appetizers and salad plates at the end of the table and they remained there the entire meal. I know many people had great experiences but this is a definite one and done as everyone in our party agreed.

The steak consisted of high quality beef, onions and hot peppers cooked in with just the right amount of cheese. You have your choice of seeded or non seeded roll and the roll did not disappoint. It was hearty without having to gnaw your way through it. Edited to add that I am generally not a fan of steak fries but these were absolutely delicious The bar menu at chubby's rocks !!! This is the return of the original Chubby's that longtime locals remember from nearby (1933 by Joseph "Chubby" Stafford), and it absolutely lives up to the legacy. The food is classic steakhouse done right--excellent cuts, cooked perfectly, with that old-school steakhouse flavor you just don't find everywhere anymore. Everything came out hot, fresh, and exactly as ordered. Service was outstanding as well: attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they're doing, which really elevates the whole experience. If you were a fan of the original Chubby's, you'll feel right at home. And if you're new, this is easily one of the better steakhouses in the area. Welcome back, Chubby's--you were missed.

First, the place is very nice on the inside; spacious, clean, relatively quiet. The servers were nice, (a little awkward, but nice...), and the food was delicious. I decided to go with the chicharrones mofongo, and the Misses got the salmon. We got a side of fried plantains to split. I was a little worried watching other peoples mofongos coming out, because although beautifully plated, the helping looked small. But, it was more than enough food. The plantains were more than a little over, (aka burnt,) but they tasted ok nevertheless. The Misses enjoyed her salmon, but was QUITE upset that the meal came with white rice instead of yellow. She says that she specifically asked for yellow, but I can't remember, AND, as is the custom now a days, the waitress didn't write the order down, instead trying to remember everything. Hate that practice, I really do. The MEALS were reasonably priced, but the sides and drinks were astronomical. The side of plaintains was TEN dollars. I ordered a coffee at the end of the meal, (that took FOR.EVER. to come out by the way,) and it was like an espresso sized cup of coffee that costed almost $5. The iced teas, over $4. They make up the difference of the meals on the other shit. Our bill for the mofongo, the salmon, an iced tea, a side of plantains, and the worlds slowest, smallest coffee was JUST under $100. It was good, but it wasn't THAT good. As I mentioned, the server was awkward, and would come by the table and then just stand there, or walk away and then walk IMMEDIATELY back, so it was just a little weird. YMMV. Again, even with all that, I would absolutely go back here. They have a LOT of mofongo options, and I'd love to try another protein.
