Redz almost feels like it could be a standalone restaurant based on the size of the space. There's booth seating out in the hotel waiting area, plus a full bar and plenty of tables inside. The interior is very dark, though, and it was a little too dim to comfortably read the menu or really see the food in front of you. The bartender was polite, kind, and helped us right away, but the prices were more like what you'd expect dining in the city, which was a surprise. The happy hour menu was also pretty limited, with only small dishes offered. My breakfast-style burger came with a fried egg on it, which really defeats the purpose of having an egg on a sandwich. Most people expect that gooey yolk to flow when you bite in, and this didn't deliver that at all. The burger itself wasn't anything to rave about, even with Cooper Sharp cheese on it. My wife's pasta wasn't very good either and felt thrown together. The fries were the standout, tasting like fresh-cut potatoes and cooked well. Overall, Redz has a nice-looking space and a solid bar setup, but between the dark lighting, high prices, and hit-or-miss food, we probably won't be back. read more

If I review Redz as a hotel restaurant and bar then it's definitely 4 stars. If I look at it as a standalone restaurant, which some people do, then it's only 3 stars. It's a full bar with its own bar area. Definitely an upgrade from the typical part time bar in a lobby a suburban hotel. I had a manhattan and it looked fantastic. Look at that black glass! Tasted great too. Problem? $20! We're not in Philly. This is the 'burbs. That was robbery. But if you're leaning into a corporate expense report I guess who cares. Small menu but diverse. A little something for everyone. I got the spring mix salad which looks like they dumped an entire bag of salad in a bowl. You can't see it but there are chopped tomatoes that are in the center instead of being mixed in. Then I got the chicken parm which was huge. It was a half pound of pasta with a giant chicken breast. It was decent, not amazing, but super filling and definitely worth the money. So for in a hotel, Redz is a good place. But the prices are just too high. Redz is located within the absolutely beautiful Double Tree hotel. We had a light dinner - French Onion soup and their version of Caesar salad. The soup was delicious, and I think made with another cheese other than Comte - it didn't "pull." The salad was pretty good. I got added shrimp - not seasoned the best. Also cheapie croutons. At least the staff was exceptional. I learned that they have live music on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday. Maybe I'll stop by to enjoy and pick up a man lol. read more

The bartender had double duty and also served the tables, and did a good job. The meals were delicious and plentiful. I got the shrimp tacos, which were large, and a side of fries, which were also good. My wife got a steak and cheese which was also huge, and my son got fried butterfly shrimp and they gave him a lot! I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're staying in the Double Tree hotel. Their warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk don't hurt things either. read more

Came out here for a weekend business trip. I was utterly shocked when I received great and attentive service while dining. Breakfast lunch and dinner was great. A giant rip-off if you are staying at the hotel and ordering to your room. Ordered the chicken parm and a drink, was charged approx 4x the menu price. Meal was delivered to the room in a plastic to go container with accompanying plastic utensils that melt when eating the food.. called the manager, he said it was because of COVID that they lowered their standards and started ripping people off. COVID was 5 years ago. Hotel manager called me to address my complaint, confirmed that COVID lowered their standards of service 5 years ago, and they are holding onto those standards of throw away utensils and hardware. Stepping in here to give a more recent review. We are staying at the Doubletree and decided to stay in for dinner at Redz. We had been traveling pretty much all day. And it was very cold out tonight. I had the grilled bone in pork chop. It was just perfect. It was a big, thick chop. Grilled perfectly. It was cooked through but not at all dry. It was tender, moist and perfectly seasoned. Served hot. On a bed of very good mashed potatoes with grilled broccoli on the dish. This restaurant is a bourbon place. We don't drink so that doesn't matter to us. The chef has developed a beautiful bourbon barbecue sauce. Very unique. Not hot or spicy but great flavor. But very well balanced. The sauce glazed the pork chop. I don't like glopped on barbecue sauce that masks the flavor of the meat. This sauce was just perfect. A nice glaze that complimented the grill seasoning. Delicious. I would treat this place as a destination restaurant and not just a convenience. My husband had the Philly steak and cheese sandwich. This was a good 12 inch sandwich thick with shaved meat. He had it with everything. He cleaned the plate in silence. I don't know much about such sandwiches but he really enjoyed this one. BTW he is sort of a Philadelphia guy so he knows Gino's. He got the side salad instead of fries. This salad was very big. Fresh crisp fancy lettuce with lots of fresh salad stuff on top. He pronounced it excellent. So our expectations were far exceeded. They had live music. The female vocalist was excellent. A perfect background for this excellent meal. I should take away a star for very slow service. But I won't. I think the kitchen just takes their time with each meal. Be prepared to wait about 30 minutes for food. The wait was worth it. Our server was a delight. She kept our drinks filled and stopped by the table with the right frequency. The kitchen could be faster but not to sacrifice the quality of the food. I had the Cobb salad with chicken. The salad was plentiful and the chicken had a good flavor. For a hotel restaurant it was reasonably priced and the portion size was filling. Besides the lettuce it had avocado, a boiled egg, arugula, cucumbers, tomatoes, red cabbage, onions, and bacon bits. Would recommend asking for some additional salad dressing. My husband and I had a great late lunch at Redz today! Our server was a real nice, knowledgeable gentleman who recommended two wonderful lunch items. I had the turkey with Brie and apple slices on walnut bread. The entree came with a large side of fries. Delicious!!! I would recommend to only come to this restaurant if you are staying at the hotel. Let me say this, I have been wanting to try this place out for awhile since I checked out the menu. I was unaware it was attached to a hotel. Nice looking restaurant, quiet, maybe too quiet. My guest and I sat thru zero music playing and barely anyone came in for dinner. The server was a friendly and kind lady. The menu looked good with a handful of options i would have wanted to try, but to have a 'special' run out with barely 10 heads in the restaurant is nuts. We started out with shrimp wrapped bacon. This came ontop of some white bean puree. Eh. The shrimp were over cooked and the bean pure was weird with this combination. For the main course, I got the grilled salmon. It was delicious & perfectly cooked. The 'seasonal mixed veggies' were broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and 2 Brussels sprouts. He finely settled on the crab & lobster ravioli and gobbled them up. I was never given a drink menu and could have certainly used one that night LOL. read more

Recently I went to Redz restaurant in Mount Laurel. I've driven by Redz a thousand times on the way to work and it's also walkable distance to exit 4 on the NJ turnpike; but I never went. While certainly not a NJ diner, Redz quickly became one of my favorite local restaurants. Redz is easy to find, as it's directly off of exit 4 on the turnpike and attached to a hotel. The inside is modern, and clean with a full length bar. They do have a full length bar, but since I was racing in the morning I opted to try their coffee. Not that that is different from normal. Their coffee was definitely one of the better coffees I've had in the area, which says a lot for an upscale restaurant. I'm a big seafood fan, so I was looking forward to their newer healthy menu. For an appetizer, my date and I ordered the shrimp and scallops to split. I will say the scallops were by far the biggest scallops I've had at any restaurant. The entire appetizer was fresh with a ginger dressing. Immediately I knew if we were starting there, it would be tough to beat. I ordered the ahi tuna as my entree. I haven't had tuna in awhile, but I appreciated how well seasoned it was. I had it cooked as recommended and I'm glad I did. I would order it again. The waitress still brought out the dessert tray, which to be honest I wanted everything. I had made my mind up days ago to get the bread pudding and I'm glad I did. The bread pudding changes weekly so there is always something new and different. This week was cranberry and rumor is next week its pumpkin. The bread pudding was everything I dreamed of. It was extremely rich with a caramel topping. It was definitely one of the best I've had (even as someone who grew up in the south). Everything from the service, to coffee, to dessert was top notch and both my date and I agreed our only regret was not coming sooner. Will I be back? Well I promised my husband (since he already saw the bread pudding on Instagram) that we could go again...so I will be back in the next month. We went to Redz with two friends based on the online menu and presence. Great visuals, a varied albeit small menu and we were looking forward to dinner. Kudos tot he marketing team, they hooked our interest. Redz is located in the Doubletree Hotel the former site of a gem of a restaurant called GG's. The space is intimate, cozy - small - but looks fine. Unfortunately, there has been nothing to dampen the sound in the small space so we had to listen to a very loud conversation three tables away for most of our dinner. We ordered drinks and then began with the starters: the bacon and shrimp on hummus, the meat and cheese plate and the meatballs with fresh ricotta. Everything tasted okay but in spite of our server informing us that the starters were adequate for four (4) diners; I'd have to disagree. 3 bacon-wrapped shrimp were on the plate - for four diners. The meat and cheese plate was nice but came with 2 small toasts and not really enough of anything for all to get a taste except for the excessive amount of cubed grocery store cheddar and batons of Swiss cheese. The meatballs were the best of the starters. Two of us had soup, the seafood bisque which was good, and the potato and fennel soup; a thick purée which had an odd sour taste as if it had been made with a bit of pickle juice. For entrées, my dining partners had spinach salad with shrimp, the crab and lobster ravioli, the ahi tuna and I had the lemon chicken. The spinach salad was fine, nothing special. The crab and lobster ravioli looked as if it was made with squid ink pasta and while good; the portion was a bit small. The ahi tuna was fresh, good quality but served with a forgettable arugula salad. It was comparable to area offerings of tuna tataki but certainly not worth three times the price that Redz charges. My lemon chicken was fair. The steamed vegetables of diced carrot, cauliflower florets and sliced squash had no seasoning whatsoever. The cauliflower and carrots were tender - but if you know anything about cooking; that means that the squash that was cooked with it was practically mush with a ring of skin. The lemon sauce did not save the steamed vegetable nor the 3 mushy thin scallopine slices of chicken breast. The best course of the night was dessert - the cheesecake, chocolate cake and crème brulée tart were very good, and I suspect bought from a good purveyor. Redz is described as an inspired, casual American eatery with a large menu - it is a casual eatery with a small menu that is not particularly inspired and it is very expensive for what you get both in food and ambiance. The described dinner for four with a bottle of wine was over $300. There are much better meals to be had in both South Jersey and Philadelphia for much less money and much higher quality. My experience at Redz made me miss the former GG's even more. read more

We can here for dinner last Saturday night and were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and ambiance. The cocktails were perfectly made and the our meals were excellent. I had the prime rib which was perfectly roasted and the chef used a very interesting and flavorful rub. My wife had the Pork Loin with a Dijon cream sauce that was outstanding. The other couple had wild Caught Salmon and Chicken Parm. Both declared them delicious. Update! The manager said they're sorry and customer service is their number one priority! Clearly it's not their employees. They should be reaching out to the bride and groom and apologizing for ruining their wedding night. Not their priority I guess. I get it, I've been a bartender all through college. But your customers are giving you money, treat them nicely. Don't call the cops on the bride and groom and their family just because you don't want to do your job. There's a certain bartender here who is satan incarnate. What kind of employee takes $100 from a wedding party to stay open until midnight and then shuts down at 11 and kicks anyone out who has something to say about it? Doesn't even return the money. Calling us belligerent and rude because we're rightly upset with her. She comes around from the bar and forcibly removes peoples drinks from their hands and calls the cops on us because she doesn't want to stay open like they agreed to do. Where is the customer service? If you don't want to stay open, don't take the money and just calmly say no. Rudest woman I've ever met in my life and I so wish I had gotten her name.
