Happy hour running 12-5 is such a win! Love that I tried the chicken tacos with rice and beans. They're not your usual open-face style, more of a closed, fried taco but still had good flavor. I especially love the open kitchen. First, I highly recommend the cucumber margarita - it was so refreshing and pretty with just the right balance. We also had the steak skewers appetizer, chips and salsa, and hubby had the steak skillet and I had the stuffed pepper special. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye, which he said, and I quote, "I'm gonna shoot you straight - this is top 3 best steaks I've ever had." I had the carne asada tacos and I appreciated that the meat was shaved, instead of cubed. The drinks were great - I got the paloma and my boyfriend got a blackberry margarita. The key lime dessert was phenomenal, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really like key lime flavored desserts. The only thing that needs some work is the salsa. It's a little bland. I came here on a Wednesday around 2, right on time for lunch (12-4) and happy hour (12-5). I was greeted and seated immediately. Ordered a silver margarita which was $6 and the taquitos pollo ($13.99) which came with rice or beans or both for an extra $1. I opted for both. They have an abundant menu and there are many items on the regular menu I for sure want to come back and try! It's really cute in here, lots of subtle Mexican touches . My cellphone signal was pretty poor , even though I was seated pretty close to a window and the entrance. My margarita was really good and refreshing but I would have liked juuuuust a hint more sweetness. It was very sour and lime forward . The taquitos were so delicious. Hot, crispy and the chicken inside was seasoned to perfection . Eveything was seasoned so well, including the rice. I cleared my plate! Terrible experience. Do not go here. Ordered the worst drink ever. Bartender came to the table to ask why I didn't like it. Seemed offended. Then after back and forth decided didn't want a drink, then they gave me 75% off the drink I didn't drink. The whole experience is not good. read more

This is a hidden gem! Very authentic Southern Mexican food. The menu is really interesting and we had a difficult time choosing what to get. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had a very complex and depth of flavor. Delicious! We also ordered the guacamole. Also, excellent. The chips were fresh and delicious. For entrees we got the Alambre de Asada, the birria and the enchiladas de Mole. All of these were delicious. We also had some cool craft cocktails. They have a really nice bar and a cool atmosphere. I like this place it is very intimate. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. I do recommend making in big a reservation. It is a small place and there is always a wait but if you have a reservation you get seated without waiting. The food is very good. I have been here a few times. I have had the pork belly tacos which is a special but should really be added to the menu. I have also had the shrimp tacos that are excellent very favorful but very light This time I had the Cameroon flambé (shrimp fajitas). They were good but it doesn't come with rice or the extras at other places. It was the tortillas and stop with the vegetables that were cooked with. They were still very good. Maya Cocina is the most authentic Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico. The ingredients are excellent and the chef incredible! This is a family run restaurant and you can tell by the dedication from the front man, Timotea to the superb chef skills of Mariana. Their homemade desserts are fantastic. Their Tres Leches the best I've ever had. They sport three and a half pages of tequila and mescal. It's a small happy venue so make reservations. read more

The food, service, and atmosphere at Maya Cocina is top notch all around. I appreciate that they keep their menu small so that all of their creations are always exceptional. Everything from the alambres (skillet dishes), tacos and enchiladas, to the cocktails have the perfect blend of ingredients to create what I think of as little pieces of heaven on earth. The owner is often at the restaurant and always ensures his customers are taken care of. Even when he's not there, service is impeccable, with the waitstaff being attentive, friendly yet professional, and ready to make recommendations based on your preferences. Also, they say you can judge the cleanliness of a restaurant's kitchen by the bathroom, so I'm guessing you can eat off the floor in Maya Cocina's kitchen because I've never been in a cleaner restaurant bathroom. Overall, the ambiance is intimate and welcoming, the food and drinks fantastic, the service some of the best I've ever experienced, and I can't recommend Maya Cocina enough. read more

And our server was helpful and knowledgable in accommodating their dietary restrictions. But I was thoroughly unimpressed with my Enchiladas de Mole; the mole sauce was just sweet and kind of bland, lacking either heat or savory notes. Our guacamole side / appetizer was also bland, as were the rice and black beans. I make better mole, guac, and rice at home. And although the margaritas were quite good, we waited over 30 minutes to be served our drinks even though the restaurant was neither crowded nor understaffed. read more
