The grilled branzino was cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, with amazing flavor. The grilled octopus was just as impressive: perfectly tender, smoky, and seasoned beautifully. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to come back. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves great seafood!

Obviously a place for locals and enjoyed the people watching. The food, THE FOOD, however, blew us away. Fresh whole fish on display in ice, live lobsters crawling around the display, and the largest head-on shrimp I have ever eaten that I personally picked out to have cooked, along with a whole perfectly seasoned red snapper, and melt-in-your mouth eggplant with tomato. Plus some very large and juicy clams in a garlic butter sauce that you want to scoop up with a spoon! This place will forever be in my dreams and I cannot wait to go back as it will be a focal point for my next visit. Thank you! Oh, and very reasonably priced too!

The food has always been freshly prepared, in large portions, and cooked quite well. I'm thankful that has not changed much. On my most recent visit, we got a Mix Grilled and Vegetarian Plate to share between four people. There was so much food that we did not have dessert next door as originally planned. Prices are higher nowadays, but you are receiving great value for what you pay. Both chicken shawarma and the beef kufta from the Mix Grilled tasted great, especially with the provided zesty white sauce. I also added hot sauce to mine, which made it more satisfying. The chicken kebab was not bad, it had a nice char, but slightly dry. All of the accompanying humus (a bit salty), salad, rice, and garlic pita were excellent too. For the Vegetarian Plate, though good, I would like the falafels to be fluffier. The best things I enjoyed on the plate was the fried eggplants and baba ghanosh. It also comes with cous cous, which was good. Fresh middle eastern cuisine, made with quality ingredients and care, this restaurant may not be my first choice in Astoria because it's not as sexy as some of the other offerings, but I'm glad that they are still around when I just want a quality meal at a reasonable price.

We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and Mix Grill entrees for our party of 7. I would say it's a pretty simple and standard order. No deviations, substitutions, or anything out of the ordinary. Despite that, our drinks took ~20 minutes, the appetizers took 30+ minutes, and our entrees 30+ minutes after that. The Mint Lemonade was so small and tasted artificial. For ~$9, I expect more. The only appetizers worth trying are the Hummus Baba Ganouj, and Falafel. Everything else sadly missed the mark. The Fatoush & Tabouleh were promising but pretty sad. It lacked dressing (lemon and olive oil), flavor, and there were way too many unnecessary lettuce leaves on or around the bowl. I did enjoy the Zikrayat Mix Grill. The meats were tender, well-seasoned, and juicy, the rice was light and fragrant, and it was filling. I found the appetizers to be overpriced and along with the extremely slow service, I didn't leave feeling like it was worth it. I don't think I'll be back.

The demand is so far through the roof that there is a nightly line for hungry folks looking to get a bite of their of their Egyptian / Mediterranean fare. By Ditmars standards, the place feels large and spacious. Their renovation from a few years ago is really paying off, Waiting is a part of the experience, as folks will eventually pick items from the display and cooked to their liking. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the display which for me include stheir chunky octopus tentacles, their succulent butterfly shrimp, grilled fish, and tasty grilled scallops. For a good time, combine it with babaganoush, lemon potatoes, beet salad, and wash it down with a mint lemonade. Service isn't the warmest, but dealing with a bunch of folks in line all day always creates a hardened attitude. Most are fluent in Arabic and English. While waiting in line, be sure to look at what's being served or have a list handy for ordering quickly. You'll find yourself lost in the hidden gems of Levant Lebanese and Egyptian culture. Made my journey to Levant for the first time and it was a pleasure. What got my attention the chicken and beef shawarma that was spinning on the counter dripping with fats, juices and flavor. Right when we got seated, the manager brought us freshly prepared, piping hot pieces of Falafel. Very good and well prepared. Very nice of him. Then So I ordered myself their chicken shawarma. The chicken was a little dry but it was still flavorful and delicious. A little hint of Sumac. What I would recommend is management to take a little more precautions on their customers. We ordered their famous Mixed Feteer, which is basically like their house pizza. And it took about 20 minutes to make and I totally understand that it gets a little busy but we have to prioritize the first customers all the way to last. But I would love to give my love and appreciation to management for serving a complimentary plate of their house sweets. It was heaven! We had their Kunefa and chocolate baklava. Mouth was watering to the extreme. I would definitely say that giving Levant in Astoria is well worth the drive if you're coming from out of town like myself but they offer really high quality Lebanese and Egyptian cuisine.

I ordered the mixed platter that came with a salad, rice, different kinds of meats. I loved that I got to try a variety- I honestly couldn't pick a favorite because I enjoyed all of it. My dish was so big that I even had leftovers for dinner and lunch the next day. If you're looking for somewhere to eat in Astoria I definitely recommend this restaurant! My only complaint is that it was hot inside the restaurant. Not sure if their HVAC wasn't working that day but the warmth was not pleasant on a summer hot day.
