So I'll say Mayan palace is a hit or miss kinda place. First the waiter nice and attentive I love the welcoming atmosphere always have. Now to the food When I used to come here the food was pretty good and flavorful and the drinks were good and strong now not so much the skirt steak taste like steak just plain meat the red salsa is a tad bit salty. I was very disappointed in their molcajete it was full of green peppers. I literally counted each piece of meat 4 shrimp, 6 strips of skirt steak with fat attached, 5 strips of chicken breast no seasoning on anything not even any sauce in the bottom of the bowl. Not sure if that's how they do it there but that needs to be made again not impressed. Not sure what changed if it's new management or new cooks but guys do better. Would I go Back yea sure maybe just to get the shrimp that's usually my go to when I visit here. read more

This place has the best guacamole I've had in a while. The dishes are great. Not our first go to but their Mexican food is decent in a pinch. The service has always been excellent and the restaurant is quiet. You can have conversations and enjoy your food without constantly being interrupted. The ambiance is great. read more

After years and years of driving past this place, I've finally checked it out . Our server Paco was very friendly and we were impressed at the large variety of the food and drinks. We had the guacamole as an appetizer. I've had the burrito surpreme and my associate had the tacos. The food was so delicious, fresh and flavorful. So good I've ate my leftovers for breakfast after church. I've ordered takeout for my boyfriend and he even enjoyed his taco, tostada and enchiladas dinner. Ok being Hispanic I've anted to try this place for a while. It's nice and cozy inside our server was ok. Salsa and chips were brought to our table. Chips were plain and salsas weren't great. No spice at all. I asked for hot and he brought me a green one, it was watered down and wasn't hot. I ordered the La Fabulosa steak/relleno/flauta combo. Steak was tough but was actually the best part of the meal. Chili relleno and flauta were average at best. We also ordered a Birria Gordita that was very dry. The server bought out chips salsa and water. He took our order and within 7 minutes our food arrived. Hubby ordered a chimichanga, it was small but good. I had the 3 taco platter with steak tacos. Food was hot and fresh but lacked flavor, even the salsa was flavorless. I also had a peach mojoti that was really good. The food needed some heat, maybe some pickled peppers or some good hot sauce, but something was missing. Price point was good for the food. We came in here today around 3 PM, it wasn't really all that busy. The waitress was nice. She told us about the margarita special of the day. It was a gold pineapple drink, that ended up being ridiculously priced. We were shocked when we saw it was $13.75 for basically a margarita that tasted like juice with very little liquor. We did not know it was going to be that much. It was 100% not worth it. I ordered the burrito supreme which comes with rice and beans for $13.99 but it was two dollars more for steak. I actually really enjoyed the burrito, I thought it was seasoned well and was actually pretty delicious. My fiancé ordered the burrito suizo with chicken. His also came with rice and beans and was around $13. He actually really liked his food, it was real chicken and not canned. He said he would definitely get it again. read more

Food was okay. Had enchiladas and they were about the same as the other local places. Looking at menu noticed that there were no free soft drink refills and the drinks were $4 each! Tried a house margarita and it was awful. It tasted unmixed and had a weird aftertaste. They charge the extra fee for using a credit card. Server was adequate but not friendly. First time trying this location the other day with my mom during lunch. I've road past this place a few times and decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were greeted very quickly and seated as well. We were able to chose were we wanted to sit which is always a plus. The scenery was pretty nice, cultural which is always fun too. Once seated we were given chips and salsa and they both were fresh. Prices are affordable, and portions are a nice size. For the appetizer We tried the Ceviche with shrimp it was fresh and light and tast really good. The brung out crackers with it, but the tortilla chips tast waaaaay better with it. For the main course we had the two fish tacos that came with beans and rice. I'd order those again! As far as services, the waiter was on point throughout our meal. I commend him for his effort due to being the only way the time and servicing more than one table. He was also nice, and very helpful with the menu. The food is good it's just that this place lacks the "x" factor. It's as lively as a funeral home hosting a wake. The service isn't bad but it could certainly be better. Once your food arrives the servers kind of disappear. I've had food at burrito places that is better. Maybe if they remodeled the place things would improve. The tequila lime shrimp was very flavorful. It comes with rice and a salad. The margaritas are good, but sometimes the frozen can be a bit icy. They have Margarita specials on Tuesdays. Took the wifey here to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The service was quick and very good throughout the evening. My wife got the Carne Asada steak dinner and I got a combination platter (steak soft taco, beef enchilada, and carne asada). All the food was delicious . A great interior decor, with a nice Mexican feel. It is one of our absolute favorite spots. The margaritas are terrific, and so is the food. I usually opt for delicious Mar y Tierra (skirt steak and shrimp), but have also enjoyed tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and any number of combos. But I am glad that I gave Mayan Palace a try because I finally found what I was looking for. Hailing from Southern California, Mexican food is serious business. And if it ain't right, I won't stand for it. But Mayan Palace gets it right. BOMB margaritas? CHECK. Warm chips and salsa (with jalapeño salsa on request)? CHECK. Actual authentic staff? CHECK. Layered flavors, giant burritos, and delectable shrimp tacos? TRIPLE CHECK. And beyond all that, the restaurant is impeccably clean and the service staff is swift, polite, knowledgeable, and by all accounts amazing. I will be back. We were looking for good cozy place to come for table of 6 and I'm so glad we chose here. The hospitality is the best. The food was delicious tried the Mayan Enchiladas and didn't regret it one bit. The drinks are also delicious. The passion and strawberry sangria are to die for along with their mezcal and I've tried a lot of mezcal but the one here is so smooth actually leaves you wanting another shot. Neat entry in the Mexican food category. This place has changed hands from when it was called La Mex. We went in the old days and it was just ok, and now we visited the Mayan Palace version and it was very good. Since it is not in the hot areas on LaGrange Road or around 159th & Harlem there was a lot of room in the Mayan. We went on July 4th since a bunch of places were closed...and the Mayan did not disappoint. As usual in a Mexican restaurant...we were greeted with the chips and salsa. The chips were excellent...they had a bit of substance to them and held the salsa nicely. The salsa was a thin tomato based salsa...a few bits of jalapeno in it to give it just a bit of bite; at first the salsa tasted just like the dipping sauce you get with cheese sticks...like an Italian sauce...but it grew on us with the bit of heat it had. Nice change of pace. One at our table had the La Costena #7 = 1/2 serving of skirt steak + one red cheese enchilada + one hard shell taco (this was an excellent combination and the enchilada in red sauce stood out); one of us had the Camarones Mojo = shrimp in garlic sauce (nice quantity of shrimp and done right...excellent garlic sauce too); and the last in our party had the Dinner Combo #1 = one taco, one tostada, and one red cheese enchilada (nice combo and a lot to eat). The house margaritas were very nice...$7.25...you can upgrade your tequila to the Gold but it gets pricey. In fact while the food was excellent, the overall food charge was a bit pricey. We had three people...a total of four margaritas...and our meals and the bill before tip was $76. So pricey it is, but the food was excellent. Service was very good and friendly. The restaurant is pleasant and roomy...we will be back. read more

Good food. Good service. Guacamole is fresh. Their chips and salsa are alright but I've had better. I get the chicken enchiladas and the chicken is great. Love the red sauce they put on them. Tuesday and Thursday the house margaritas are $4 which is nice. My other half drinks patron margaritas which are $12.50 each. They are filled with a ton of ice and in a small glass so it seems overpriced. We like the food here but there are a ton of Mexican restaurants in the area. read more
