Alright, let's get started. Service is very nice. I would give service 5 stars. Our cups were never empty and our food was made quickly. Cleanliness is a 4 star. It's very clean, everything looks neat as well. Atmosphere is a 5 star. It feels very Mayberry-like and there is Andy Griffith show playing the whole time you are eating. And lastly, the food. The food is 3 stars. I ordered the burger with Mac n cheese and both were so-so. However they have loads of other options that look very good. Overall I give 4.3 out of 5 stars. Found a hair in my food disgusting!!! Ruined my meal... customers not required to wear masks when coming in building.... and the menus were dirty when we got them and the waitress turned around and put them back with all the others. We were in town for a conference and stopped in for lunch. I had the fish sandwich special and another in the party had chicken fried chicken. The fish sandwich was fresh and the fry on it was perfect. Our server was friendly and the decor would be Aunt Bee approved. The extended family including grandparents, siblings and our four kids ages 5-7 had a very good time at Mayberry Cafe. The balloon guy was fabulous and made a great Spider Man. The standard thing given to the kids to play with is a small etch a sketch which occupied them very well. PLUS, the food was excellent. The Mayberry Café is a great little restaurant in downtown Danville. The owners are really good people and most of the staff really love working there, and really care about the us, the customers. The food is pretty good too. The mashed potatoes are real, and the soups are always homemade. The honey cinnamon butter is homemade in the restaurant as well and you can purchase a jar to take home. A lot of the sides on the salad bar are homemade on the right side of the salad bar. The bread pudding is home made, although, I have never been a fan of bread pudding, ever. I heard a lot of people love it. There are many items homemade on the menu that will tempt your taste buds. They have just changed some things on the menu that I have yet to try. The favorites are the fried chicken overall. My husbands favorite is the beef Manhattan and the chicken stir fry. My tastes change and I love the burgers and pastas. The spaghetti sauce is more sweet, not what I am use to or like, but the alfredo sauce is really good. You can substitute the regular sauce for alfredo, and that makes it wonderful. My favorite desserts are the apple pie supreme, and the monkey on your back, which entails a brownie, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and chocolate sprinkles. You can share this with someone as it is pretty big. If you are celebrating a birthday, let them know and you will get a homemade cake, a birthday hat, a Mayberry song, and your picture taken and printed for you to take home. Kids, ten years old and under get a "coin" after they order a kids meal to buy a toy or ice cream after they are done eating. The prices are cheaper than most places around the town. Overall, the decor and small town feeling of this place are definitely it's biggest assets. The food all tastes like it's bought in bulk pre-cooked from a wholesale food club. The vegetables seem like they are straight from a can. Mostly stuff you could cook at home, but a little blander to appeal to a wider audience. Ok if you just want to avoid cooking for a night. Stopped by the Mayberry Cafe after checking out the fair on the Danville Square. I really was not sure what to expect but i was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is decorated very well! But the best part is the food. I ordered beef and noodles with mashed potatoes. Everything that come out was great. The noodles and potatoes were home made. Probably the best tenderloin sandwich I've had since we moved back to Indianapolis. Also, you must try the fried biscuits with apple butter.

Very disappointing after hearing all the hype about this place. The food across the board was either average to below average. We were served stale bread, which was a turn-off right away. My wife visited the salad bar and the ingredients all looked like they either came out of the cooler at Kroger or out of a can. Same with my meal--chicken fried chicken was decent, but the green beans were obviously canned and not fresh and the orange slice garnish was in the middle of the gravy, so I got a weird taste of orange throughout my meal. My wife's potato also had a strange flavor too that she couldn't figure out. Service and decor are really the only things to save this place, although the waitress did not seem interested in how we thought the food tasted. I would imagine that eventually this place will close once people forget who Andy Taylor was. For the small portion sizes compared to the price, I could have gotten more for less at Bob Evans. read more

Stopped in for Breakfast since they just started serving it on Saturday and Sundays. I ordered the Aunt Bees Special, which consisted of 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, Hash brown casserole, Toast and 2 pancakes. It was terrible, The pancakes were dry and thick, The hash brown casserole tasted like it was hash browns, flour and water. the hash browns were a gray color and the middle of the hash browns were gooey and uncooked. The toast was not toasted, the bread was still white and soft It felt more like stale bread. The Bacon was real greasy and tasted like it had been sitting around. I couldn't eat it. Kitschy/cute with the Andy Griffith theme, old episodes playing on tv's throughout the room, Ronny Howard whistling. I love that they offer fried bluegill, which features at least a dozen tasty little pieces of fish and a decent horseradish cocktail sauce to dip them in. The rest of the menu is typical American diner, with burgers, chicken, spaghetti and pork tenderloin. They have a very basic salad bar, but it's fresh and the kids love the cottage cheese. Mayberry Cafe is fun for families, but not exactly fine dining. read more

Especially considering its location in an all-American small town, the Andy Griffith theme is very clever. You can even watch episodes of the show while you eat! Usually they are a consistent 4 to 5. Today was long waits, mistakes, and none of the "Friendly Mayberry experience". I waited at least twice as long to get seated(nobody came to the front and there was no line), I got sat in an alcove with a broken stat-icky TV. Took so long for a waitress the hostess had to intervene. I ordered quickly and sat for quite awhile. In the time it took to get a soda and my app,the opposite table chit chat, paid left, table turned over, new pple sat, ordered and received entrees. When their waitress checked on them, they asked why I had not gotten food or service. Also my app had onions on it(severe aversion to onions here) which had not been on the menu or when I had seen it served before. I finally got my hot, fresh food but had to take it to go since my lunch hour had passed. Waitstaff denied to let me or the neighboring table to talk to management. No apologizing or reparations of any kind, although I could hear other tables getting not charged for mess ups and such. read more

It reminds me of the lunch menu at Cracker Barrel that I never eat off of because, c'mon, you go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast because that's just what you're supposed to do. The food here was average. They have the usual suspects when it comes to family restaurant type food, nothing mind-blowing. You will see an above average number of elderly here, and all the TVs play the Andy Griffith show 24/7. I only give it the extra fourth star for the cuteness and nod to the decorations and theme. We are here!!! We went to Mt. Airy on the way back from Camp Lejeune, and the Mayberry Cafe in Indiana is more Andy Griffith than the 'real Mayberry' in North Carolina. We went here as the destination for a beautiful sunny day drive, about 40 miles. I was slightly disappointed with the decor, I expected a more 60ish feel but it was actually pretty modern, made to look like a home dining room with floral wall paper, fireplace, etc. That being said, the food was actually very good. I just had soup and the salad bar and thought both were tasty. Hubby had breaded tenderloin and onion rings which he said was also very good. Price was average. I was very impressed with the cleanliness. I'm not sure when I have seen a restaurant as clean as this one. All in all, it was worth going to at least once, but due to the distance I doubt I will return. read more

Terrible service/arrogant manager. Ate here occasionally, and the food and service were decent until the past few visits. On the last visit, was with a group of eight, and we made a reservation days in advance. Drink orders took a long time to arrive and many were incorrect. The server did not bring new ones until we asked several times. Food took nearly an hour to arrive, and when it did, one of the meals was different than what was ordered. Instead of replacing the incorrect dish, the server returned with it a few minutes later and insisted that we take it, but she didn't charge us for it. Our server was training someone else and seemed overwhelmed; after she brought our separate checks, she asked us to pay the cashier instead of her, but when we tried, we were instructed by the staff at the register that we would need to wait for our server to ring us out. Eventually, a woman that we presumed to be the manager settled our checks, and when we asked what the issue was, we were told that the restaurant wasn't staffed for the section in which they had seated us, and then she made it clear that "our attitude" was the problem!
