Breakfast was delicious! The cheeseburgers were very good and they gave us plenty of fries! Service is great! We will be ordering again.

From the outside, Mayfair Restaurant may not look like the most inviting place to go to, but as soon as you sit down you're greeted with the most sincere and heart-felt smile. The decor isn't all that great, but the friendliness, the prices, and the food all outshine that! My husband and I went here on a Saturday around 11am. It wasn't busy, perhaps 4 other tables. The menu is fairly simple and it makes it for people like me who are indecisive have an easier time picking something! We ordered 2 coffees (unlimited refills), the salchipapa (fries & sausage), maduro frito (fried sweet plantains), the chilaquiles, and an omelet. Everything was so tasty and their salsa verde is the best I've ever had. We had enough food leftover to fill out an entire to go box for breakfast the next day! Ok so we order from here all the time, pick up, delivery...we have yet to eat in. Today we spend over 50 bucks on delivery. We asked for a side of mayo for our burgers. Two. They called me and wanted to charge me for the mayo! Seriously??????? I asked if we ate there, and I asked for mayo for my burger would they charge. She said yes they would. Majorly disappointed. I've let it slide in the past when the food arrives cold, because I understand there are other deliveries besides mine and I have a microwave. I've even let it slide when the eggs are cooked incorrectly, requested items are not included, etc. Let me continue by saying sour cream is what makes the chorizo skillet tasty for me. I take extra steps to make sure it's included because it has been left out so many times in the past. Not only did I put it in several places on the order, along with the fact they could charge me for it, but I received a text stating that they were adding it and I'd be charged and this was confirmed with an email as well. However, once again the sour cream was missing when the food arrived. I refused to just accept it this time, so I called the restaurant and was told it would be right out...an hour later, still no delivery of sour cream. Ridiculous! They are less than 3 miles from my home. I call again and they say it'll be here soon as the driver took it with other orders, but if I don't get it, call back and they'll refund the extra charge....seriously?! It has now been an additional 30 minutes since that phone call with no sour cream. This company is all about making money and not about customer satisfaction or even pride in the quality of their product. As much as I love this skillet WHEN IT'S RIGHT, the service sucks and it is rarely right. I am really disappointed and will not be ordering from them in the future. You can only give them so many chances before you have to cut your losses and realize the mediocre food quality that you've been getting along with the crappy service is now the norm, not the exception. Ordered from GrubHub, arrived late. Grecian chicken was way too salty and the sauce leaked all over the container, making a soggy mess. Veggies were mostly soggy green peppers, ugh! Requested potato salad instead of mashed potatoes, request ignored. Also requested sesame ginger dressing (which they clearly have), request also ignored and I ended up with crappy generic ranch dressing. Thanks but no thanks. read more

I go here for breakfast because me too restaurant is better than other restaurants and making breakfast. They also give you more food. the eggs are always cooked perfectly the potatoes are awesome with peppers and onions and everything prepared well. The coffee is really good and the service is excellent. Other Chicago breakfast spots have fallen of; their food is greasy and their coffee horrible. But, as another reviewer stated, the cooks and this one waitress don't wear masks. I can live with the cooks but this waitress walks in, the same one as in the other post, takes her coat off it proceeds to walk around the restaurant greeting people without a mask on! Weird she was. You could tell she knew was making people uncomfortable. Won't be back till she puts a mask on. read more

This is a humble, no-frills diner in Mayfair. The sign out front mentions Ecuadorian food, and sure enough there are a handful of those specialties on the menu, like guato/guatita. I will be sure to try those next time. The interior felt like it was from the 60's or 70's era, with a lunch counter and stools, and a tiled wall behind the counter. Some colorful updates included a row of nice paintings along the dining room wall, and several healthy plants in the front windows. Simple and basic diner style. Service was excellent, there were several younger staff members working that were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast dish I had was fresh and made to order. A corned beef hash skillet had griddled bits of sliced corned beef, fresh red and green peppers, and two eggs overeasy. Very tasty and affordable. They have a good amount of lunch/dinner options as well, the simple burgers are only $5. It was a great experience, and i'll be returning to try some of the Ecuadorian food, and getting another reliable, cheap breakfast. read more

In an era of chain food diners, I'm glad little neighborhood joints like this have a niche in this world. A group of us stopped in on the recommendation of a friend that lives in the area. First of all expect casual and expressive banter between the staff and regular customers. This simply adds to the ambience as the air fills with talk about grandkids, medical problems, and general neighborhood gossip. This will kill time before the food arrives. It may also delay your food if the cook decides to chime in as well. As for the food, the pancakes are buttery awesome. The steak, not so much, but we all warned the person that ordered it to lower their expectations. If we weren't so so engrossed in the food we might have joined in the neighborhood banter, but it was just as entertaining listening. This place has charm, the food is reasonable, and the prices are decent. I'll be back here again. Pros: Friendly staff, varied menu, PANCAKES, prices. New to the Mayfair neighborhood and we love our Sunday brunches. So, we were happy to see there was a diner within walking distance from our new place. But, after I checked the reviews I was a bit skeptical to even try it. Glad we did! IMO, diners have the best breakfasts and this place did not let me down. Sure it's not the fanciest place and the staff is, what I like to call down to earth. :) No snooty attitudes, just a friendly, "Hey there! What can I getcha?" They have plenty of regulars, they know most people by name, and they talk to everyone about their day or about what happened last week. Ha! I think that's awesome. As for the service, can't complain. Did not experience what other reviewers have said at all. Been there 3x in the month and a half we've lived here and not one problem, with the service or our orders. It's a "mom n pop" joint that serves up your standard diner menu. Had a great breakfast special for $5, today; standard, eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. The hash browns were some of the better ones that I have had. The service friendly and prompt, the premises clean and cute. You can sit at the counter or a table; tables can easily be pushed together if you need it. We have been back several times since my last review, and we have stopped going altogether- the owner/only waitress is too awkward to put up with on a regular basis. my first EAT24 order was not so great and being less than a mile from me they took 1hr+.. : Chile Relleno - not authentic, cheese inside still hard, marinara sauce instead of tomato (eew) Rice - crunchy tasted like bottom of the pan rice, think I got the last spoon of it. Went in on a Friday afternoon for coffee and food. My boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich and fries which he devoured (must have been good)! I ordered the steak and eggs, portion is huge and enough for two people. They lost a star because it was slightly overlooked. Flavor was good though. My son had mozzarella sticks and he was a happy camper. Our waitress was pretty cool and funny, we tend to mess around a lot and she was cracking up with us. It's always nice to have a fun waitress.
