08 April 26 I had breakfast At Elly's ... Yeah I know , I meant to have breakfast at Tiffany's but I couldn't afford it. Elly's has a local crowd of regular and not so regular customers. My breakfast companion is a regular, I am not. But Elly's is much more affordable than Tiffany's. I ordered a bacon , egg and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun. Eggs were scrambled. The sandwich arrived with an ample supply of bacon with my eggs. I took one bite and WOW. I thought I was in bacon & egg heaven. It was delicious. The extra bacon did the trick. Our server recognized my companion as a regular and engaged in playful banter. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The restaurant is located near a busy intersection but has a large private ( free ) parking lot for it's customers. Free parking is always a plus with me. The restaurant is casual so no need to dress up. The clientele are local , workers , families, friends meeting up for coffee etc. When in town I try to find time to visit Elly's as I'm from the area but moved out 6 years ago. read more

Great place for breakfast and brunch. A nice intimate family diner type set up. The place gets pretty busy but every time I come I've never really had to wait to get seated. The servers come right away and are super attentive. The menu has a nice variety of breakfast and lunch options. I ordered the Shroom skillet and it was so tasty that I finished my whole plate of food. Usually have leftovers whenever I order a skillet anywhere but not here! The side of bacon was nice and crisp and the pancakes were moist and fluffy. Price point is reasonable. I recommend this place. read more

I'll give this restaurant five stars as a diner. The food was definitely solid and the coffee was decent. I had a skillet with vegetables and cheese. It kind of felt like something I could have made at home but was still pretty good. The pancakes were surprisingly good as well. It's a deceptively large place and the tables are slightly close to each other, but nothing that should affect the meal. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, they use the automated payment system where the server stands there as you decide the tip (as do most restaurants nowadays) which seems uncomfortably forced. They also don't split the bill up based on party which is annoying. read more

Stopped in Elly's for a laaaate breakfast on a Saturday. We were sat quickly and there were a handful of other tables flled in the restaurant. Staff are buzzing around quickly and it seems like the staff probably all share tips as they are all working all tables. We felt very taken care of by staff! The menu is pretty typical breakfast/lunch options. Certainly plenty of sweet and savory brunch options, and everyone in your party could probably find something to make them happy. My partner ordered Elly's Benedict and I chose the country Benedict. Coffee was offered to the table quickly and water was served. Food came out pretty quick and was hot and fresh. The portion sizes were generous and more than filling. The hollandaise on Elly's Benedict was delicious, and notably better than other breakfast joints. The sausage gravy on the country Benedict was pretty good, as reviewed by me, a southerner. It's hard to find real southern sausage gravy but this does the job fine. My biggest complaint is the lackluster side of hash brown potatoes. It's a good portion size and they're shredded style. They get browned on top, but they were kind of mushy and unseasoned as a whole, almost bordering on undercooked. There's too many amazing places to eat in Chicago for me to revisit anything mediocre. This was my husband's go to brunch which has now become our go to since I've moved here. The omelette and scrambles never disappoint and our current fave is the Southwestern. The pancakes are what keeps us coming back here as it has been difficult to find a location that can top these. The service from the waitstaff is very welcoming. Where do I begin? My chai latte was fantastic. My girlfriend had one of their specialty coffees and thought it was only ok. However, the food was delicious. My eggs were light and fluffy, the hasbrowns were crispy, and the bacon was super flavorful. The pancakes can't be forgotten though. 10/10. My girlfriend had the banana nutella French toast and said it was "delectable." We will definitley be coming back. Also of note, our server was very friendly and attentive. My wife and stepson treated me to breakfast for Father's Day on 6/14/25. After eating at Elly's in Jefferson Park, Chicago, both my stepson and I were sick to our stomachs for the rest of the day. My stepson told me this is the second time he's gotten ill after eating at this restaurant. I tried notifying the restaurant regarding this matter thru the "contact us" section of their website. Their website says "we'll get back to you as soon as possible" but it's been over a week now with no reply. Seems to me they don't care if you get sick after eating at their establishment. read more

I've eaten here twice, a few years apart. They seem consistently solid: not spectacular food, but a reliable, crowd-pleasing weekend brunch option. Service was warm both times. The restaurant gets very busy on weekends in the 11 to 12 time-frame. This time I had a steak and mushroom skillet with pumpkin spice pancakes on the side. The latter were outstanding while the skillet was just okay. I wish that the eggs and potatoes were both cooked more. My daughter's cheeseburger was incredibly dry and not terribly flavorful. On the other hand, my son ate every bite of two chocolate-chip pancakes. read more

I'm a lover of autumn. I think it's a fantastic holiday and filled with all the best things about life. What I don't like, though, is when I want an excellent pumpkin pancake and they put pecans in there. I'm not a fan of the nut, that's all. Well, this place not only has pecan-less pumpkin pancakes but also a fantastic staff who is patient with me while I figure out what I want and even offers suggestions to build around these earthy-sweet flapjacks. Loved this place! I recently worked as a server at this location, and I loved working with the staff. The manager was an amazing manager and probably one of the best managers that I've had. Servers were always kind. The owners cared about the staff, and they even took the time to work with us and help us on our shifts. Very healthy work environment.
