I just love this place every time I come up here for work training. This wonderful little deli is tucked away in a small business center and, had I not been across the parking lot working, I would not know it was there. The one thing I HAVE to get, each time I come, is their chicken pesto sandwich. The pesto is handmade and just so phenomenal. When I had it last week I got the sandwich on toasted sourdough, which made it even better! The marriage of chicken, pesto, and cheese is just wonderful. Seems like a lil mom n pop place, looks like one and even the owners got it going. Prolly a mom n pop place sitting in the middle of a bunch of office buildings. The guy at the front was to the point, and I got my order in quick. I liked that there was a corner window so a lot of natural sunlight gets into the place. This would be pretty nifty during off hours to have a place to read for a while without any disturbances. It wasn't crowded at all either though I can imagine that when it is around lunch time there are probably people that tend the frequent here. The prices are good. I only got breakfast items due to the time of day but for the price margin I couldn't really argue. They weren't the greatest but worth the price I had paid for them. I had ordered the breafast burrito and breakfast sammich on wheat since I was sick and this place was close. I didn't want to travel very far considering the feelings of dizziness. No need to put the general public at risk because of my laziness to cook something myself haha. To get the crust onto the sammich and the burrito a panini press was used. A microwave was also utilized to melt the cheese and bring everything together. Inside both was eggs, spinach, cheese, and mushrooms. This was just what I was looking for at the time. Nothing extravagant mind you, but I wasn't hoping for that in the first place. Mayhew Deli is by far the best deli in Sacramento! I have been coming hear for a couple years now and never once have I been disappointed. The food is delicious I come all the time for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast I normally order a breakfast sandwich on a croissant with bacon is it amazing, they also have mochas and lattes which are nice with breakfast. The deli has recently remodeled and added a Panini grill which is awesome, I believe you can make any sandwich a panini. They can get pretty busy during lunch, it's normally because everybody has there lunch break at the same time and the deli is in walking distance of most of the local offices. They do accept phone orders if you don't have much time which is nice. My favorite sandwich is the Pastrami extravaganza it is to die for! They use the good kind of pastrami too not the fatty kind! The menu has a wide variety of different sandwiches all under $6 you can't beat that! I was surprised when I saw a few one star reviews so I thought I would voice my opinion. I did enjoy this little hole in the wall sandwich spot with my girlfriend. The food they use is a good quality and taste fresh that you wouldn't find at chain sandwich places.
