DO NOT have work completed here! They are extremely unethical people and charge you for work that wasn't even completed!!!! I paid for a carburetor to be rebuilt and within 24 hour after "so call" repair, my golf cart wouldn't run. Called to explain that my cart still wasn't working and was told by them it must have not been the carburetor and wouldn't warranty repair. Went to another repair facility and they concluded it was a bad carburetor. Other repair shop removed and replaced with new carburetor and works now. Took old part back to Mayo and all they said was "not our problem". We don't know if that's the part we rebuilt. Why in the world would I bring them a bad part when I have a new part on my cart!!! The staff is extremely rude and has no professionalism. They didn't even want to assist to resolve. I don't recommend taking anything to them for repair because you can't trust they are doing anything other than spraying carburetor cleaner and charging for a rebuilt part!!! Very poor examples of quality business practices. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I had my mustang there for about a week. First they said the camshaft sensor was bad, so I said go ahead and fix it. Than two days later they tell me its the Fuel pump which I had already replaced two months ago. So I go get another fuel pump since it was under warranty, they install it car still wasn't fixed. I bring it back they tell me downstream O2 sensors are bad and so I buy them they installed them for free but still the car isn't fixed. So $500 later my car is still running as the first day I brought the car to them. read more

I am sitting here in the waiting area of Mayo's Autoworks for the second month in a row. My car is just about ten years old now and requiring extra attention as parts here and there are failing me. I spent quite a bit of money last time I was here ($360 including the diagnostic fee) but received the best quality an auto repair shop could possibly offer. I've had George do my repairs both times because he is fast, efficient and very professional. Even when calling into the shop multiple times I'm always treated with great respect and never have more than a 60 second wait time while they try and get an answer for me or have George come to the phone. They do charge the highest diagnostic fee in the city to my knowledge. Their's is $98 where most other shops I have talked to ranges from $25-$65. Other than that I have no complaints whatsoever. Even their waiting area is comfortable and very clean. Great job Mayo's. I will continue to use you for all of my auto repair needs. read more

I took my car there because the check engine light came on and the car went into the overdrive mode. When I took my car to them I told the lady at the front desk that the car wasn't shifting gears and the code on the car was for the solenoid. She told me they would have to do a diagnostic and if they find something wrong with the car would charge me for that. They had my car for two days and I was told the car wasn't messing up for them. The second day when I called them for an update the woman at the front desk didn't know any information about the car and was told the mechanic would call me by noon. I didn't receive a phone call so I went to pick my car up. As I was down the street around the mechanic called me telling me I need to have my solenoid replaced. I told him that's the reason why the car was there and that I was on the way to pick my car up. When I made it to the shop they were trying to get me to restore the headlights disregarding my solenoid issue. When the mechanic finally came from the back he wrote up recommended work for me to have done. I was charged $108 for the diagnostic when I asked the lady at the front why am I being charged when I told them the issue she said because during the diagnostic they found something wrong. Again I told her I said the solenoid was messed up when I dropped the car off. I wasted $108 on the car because they didn't tell me anything that I didn't know. read more

Incompetent, dishonest, and dismissive. I brought my car in for an oil change on 6-20-17. The following morning my check engine light came on during my commute to work, and later that day while running an errand it began to emit a burning odor. I discovered a bone-dry dipstick and a massive oil leak. Added some oil and took it back to the shop where they proceeded to B.S. me about it being fine and only being a quart and a half low. At no time did they actually get under the car. When I said that was odd since it had been empty even before I added a quart the guy had the nerve to tell me that the dipstick doesn't go all the way to the bottom and that it was normal. Thankfully I live only a mile away where I found oil to STILL be leaking, and I had to bail out on going to Austin, missing my son's birthday. I had to take today off to go to another repair shop where they found that the gasket in the filter was damaged and the cap that fits over the spring was missing. As a result I am looking at a $285 repair bill because they have to get into the engine to remove the filter housing, 2 days of missed work and no vehicle. I contact Mayo and the owner will not speak to me. He only relayed through office staff that if I took it elsewhere he won't reimburse me. Apparently he thinks I'm stupid enough to let them touch my car again. I'd rather not sue, but I will be pursuing legal action re: mechanic induced malfunction/damage. So yeah, if I could give less stars I would. Friggin' A-holes! read more

UPDATE: The only "HELP" they offered was a recommendation to take it elsewhere to have the transmission fixed. No "help" in the form of payment or even a refund for the service that caused the $3400 bill. Notice the wording used in this company's response when they said they, "tried our best to work with her to help her afford to fix it. " That statement is only indicative that they told me to take it some place cheaper than the dealership for the replacement of the transmission. That statement in NO WAY implies that they ever offered to pay for or even help pay for the repair. So lets be perfectly clear about that. This is just pure craziness!..... How do you explain the truck passing YOUR road test immediately after you did the 1st service yet not passing it less that 24 hours after you touched the vehicle?!!! Answer that in a way that doesn't implement you and I'll be fine with that. And yes I posted on your facebook page the same thing that I posted here and other places : THE TRUTH! These Guys are crooks. I took my Lawn Mower in for replacement or rebuild of the carburetor. Which can be purchased new for $15.00- $25.00 . They decided to rebuild it, Along with rebuilding the carburetor , they decided that it needed a new spark Plug, new oil and cleaned the fuel tank, and then charged me 12.95 for parts. It didn't need an oil change , I had just changed it myself, it didn't need a spark plug, and the filter can be purchased on amazon cheap for 14 @ 1.40 each. The cost of parts was reasonable. The labor was $80.00. When I questioned the cost of Labor they said that was their flat rate regardless of what they do to the mower. So if I just wanted a new spark plug and that was all they did , labor was still $80.00. Their cost for labor is seriously inflated. And they actually stole $2.95 for an environmental fee, for working a a mower? MY total cost $96.97. I called around ( after the fact) and the average cost to rebuilt or replace a carburetor, clean the gas tank, and service the mower is $53.00 total for everything, well burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me. These people will never do any work for me again. Heck, I could have replaced the carburetor myself If I had a clean workbench to do the work it only takes 15 minutes. Also, beware these people will sell your stuff if you do not pick in up within 15 days of there calling. This wasn't a problem for me, and for many people that may not be a problem, but for some living paycheck to paycheck it could be. Next time I will take it to Brandon's or Big Al, in Killeen or even B&R in Belton, they all had reasonable quotes. I can't figure out how they got voted one of the best by the Killeen Herald readers, perhaps the voters choices were limited. In any case call around BEFORE you make any arrangements with these people because based I what I know now, and other reviews these people will take you to the bank if they get a chance. Was in Killeen from out of town on vacation. A/C on car was broke so I took it to Mayo to get fixed. I dropped it off on a Wednesday and they said it had a bad clutch coil or something and needed a new compressor. They told me it would be over $900 for the repair. I said I will go without A/C if it has to cost over $900. They said they would look for a quality used part which they found and told me the repair would be in the $600s for the all work. They didn't finish working on it until Saturday. They called me at 3:12pm to tell me the car is done but they are closing at 4:00pm instead of the normal hours of 7:00pm. I could not make it there in the 48 minutes they gave me. I had to pick the car up as soon as they opened at 12:00 on Sunday because I had to drive for 10 hours to get home for work on Monday. Here is where it gets fun. I went to Mayo as soon as they opened and I was the only customer there. The person I assume is the owner, because his picture is on the web site, was the only other person there. He hands me a bill for $770 and I said the person a talked to on the phone said the whole bill was suppose to be in the $600s. He said he could drop it by $50 and did. While I was waiting for him to finish up the paper work I asked nicely if I could see the old pump. (Most shops i've delt with in the past offer to show you the old part without having to ask) As soon as the words left my mouth I saw his whole demeaner change. He got irate and cussed at me when he asked me what I was insinuating! I was taken aback and said my car had a small power streering leak and I just wanted to see if there was power steering fluid on the A/C pump that may have caused it to go out. He continued to badger me and treat me like I was calling him a scam artist or something. I am 40 years old and never in my life have I been treated in such a way as a customer, especially by a business owner who should set the standard for customer service at his business. He eventually shows me the pump and says if I wanted to take it I would have to pay them the core charge. I told him I had no intention of taking it and restated that I just want to see the condition because of the powersteering issue I had in the past. So I tested the A/C and it took a few minutes but it felt like it was starting to blow cold. I had to leave town immediately after picking it up. During my 10 hour drive the A/C never really seemed to get very cold but it was cool enough to keep us from sweating. That was yesterday. Today, Monday, I drove to work but didn't use the A/C because the desert in west texas is cool at 5am in the morning. When I went to lunch it was around 95 degrees and the A/C was barely blowing air cooler then the ambient air out side. I was upset because I just paid $720 for cold air and one day later I have none. I called Mayo back and I think I talked to the owner. I am obviously concerned because I live 650 miles from Killeen. I tell him the issue and his first response is to ask me where I was and was it hot. Last summer my A/C worked just fine and blew very cold air in 100 degree weather so I dismissed his attempt to treat me like an idiot. Then he said well maybe it has a leak and he would have to call me back because he was busy. I am thinking that when you change an A/C pump you must perform a leak check before you clear the vehicle to go back to the customer to ensure you did your job correctly. (I was a helicopter mechanic in the Army for 7 years before I became an officer by the way so I am not ignorant) I think they should find a leak that would cause the A/C to stop working after only 10 hours of use if they took the proper steps. It has been over an hour and I am still waiting for him to call be back so I can ask him how we can solve the problem without me driving for 1300 miles. I will continue this when I get the problem resolved. If I can get acceptable treatment from them I will give them another star or two but for now I will warn people off of this place. read more

They were very quick to accept my vehicle in to work on it. Getting out the door took forever. Everyday I called to get an update on my vehicle and everyday was another excuse. After "inspecting my vehicle" or running diagnostics they determine one thing to be wrong. After waiting a week for the mechanic to fix it. It still wasn't fixed. I paid for the repair but I told them I wanted it fixed. So they accepted it back and took the truck back and for another two weeks. Still not fixed. I'm furious at this point and the mechanic is still giving excuses. This shop takes advantage or people and their money. Why are they still accepting vehicles while other vehicles are waiting for servicing. Poor management. I'm done dealing with the business and I decided to just take my truck back still broken. I went to this shop to get a rock chip/crack repaired on my wind shield. The chip was the size of a quarter when the technician started. They called me over to my vehicle a few minutes later to tell me that the process didn't work and had damage had gone from a small chip/crack to a 8-10 inch crack and that I needed to replace the windshield at my cost. The company took no responsibility or liability for the damage they caused nor accommodate me for my loss. Therefor this company deserves a "0" rating/review with poor customer satisfaction.... read more

I honestly don't even know where to begin with mayo. yes they look representable and you feel like you can leave your vehicle with them. you automatically feel safe because they are certified and license to be under your hood. but honestly this is one of the worsts auto repair shops that I have ever been too. I bring my own parts to the shop because they over charge on their parts and say the reason that its so pricey because they have lifetime warranty. for what?? in a couple of years this shop might end up getting shut down or change ownership. hell they have a sign in the office saying they are not liable for the parts that are brought in by customer. how can you not be liable if your guys are the ones putting it in? what if they didn't assemble it correctly? you still not liable huh? well guys let me tell you I spent quite a lot of money here. took my vehicle in December 2016 for ball joints brake pads, fuel filter, oil change, and air filter replacement. that was a total of 850$. remember I bring my own parts including oil and filter . in January 2017 I am back to get my rear drums replaced total of 500$. February I'm back my vehicle is shaking like crazy they inspect previous work and say every thing is fine that I need my passenger arm bushing replaced. that's why my vehicle is shaking 300$.march I go back my brakes are extremely hard and I take my vehicle to get checked was told they was gonna do a brakes diagnostics I agreed and went on with my day while I waited for a phone call. mayo called and said I need a vacuum pump I agreed was charged 520$ they provided me with the vacuum pump. I'm back again in march this time to get my front brakes done. I bring in my own rotors and brake calipers. mayo provides me with brake pads. spend a total of 450 I am then told that my rear end is shaking that I might need to replace my rear drums and ball joints. Why ? you just did the work on them in December. he replies back with a oh,? did we? YES!! Well bring it back on Monday and bring your receipt. back on Monday, I then received a call from mayo telling me that my rear drums and rotors needed to be replaced and since I brought in the parts that they weren't liable. I told them to put my vehicle back together that I will be back the next day never went back. GUYS HERE IS THE BEST PART just did a oil change and changed the filter. GUESS WHAT? that's not the oil filter I brought in with all my parts in December? where's the one I provided. I have my AutoZone receipt showing proof that I purchased it. so why isn't it the same filter that I purchased. hmmm makes you question if any of the parts I brought in were even PUT ON MY VEHICLE,? ill be sure to never return and honestly if you are reading this don't go either. they don't deserve your hard working money when they care so little about your vehicle. they just rather make money than have a reputation. This place is a rip off! We took my husbands truck to have both front & back brake pads replaced and some other things done. After paying a nice chunk of change to them we ended up taking his truck to Bates for a recall and asked them to look at the noise it was making in the front. Bates called us to let us know that the brake pads needed to be replaced which we told them we had just had Mayo change them out in June so it had not even been 2 months as it was now August. We found out the brake pads had been not been done properly and had warped the front right rotor and the same in the back so we had to pay to have them done correctly. When we called Mayo to tell them they told us to bring both the paperwork from them and from the dealership so they could review it. We dropped off the paperwork and a week went by with no call, nothing. They were suppose to get back to us and my husband ended up having to call them twice only to find out they were going to do absolutely nothing. They not only took our money but didn't even do the job correctly causing us to pay more money to someone else to do it right. You can not even begin to imagine the frustration and anger my husband and I feel. You would think they would at least offer some kind of compensation since we are the ones who are out all the money for a job that wasn't done right in the first place. NOTHING!!! What a bunch of crooks. Do not even waste your time with this place they will screw you any chance they get. read more

I LOVE Mayo Autoworks. I am a single woman, widowed almost a year ago, and of course my husband always took care of the car issues. Now I have to stand on my own two feet and go out there and find a good company to work with, and I hit the jackpot on the first time! My car had been hesitating for about a week and I didn't think much about it until the menu panel went out and I knew then there was a problem. I was actually out shopping, didn't intend on taking it to Mayo that day because I did not have an appointment, but something just told me I better take care of this. I pulled into Mayo automotive and went in. I explained to Chuck what was going on and cheerfully said "lets go take a look at your car". Amazingly when he tried to start it the car was DEAD. He popped the hood and there was acid all over the battery. He said "don't worry we can get a new battery in there and take care of it. As I sat chewing my nails, fearing of what the cost would be because I am a student with no income right now, He came out and said the battery alone would be $160. Tears streamed down my face and he said "let me see what I can do". In less than an hour, he called me up to the counter and said "I got it down to $126. I could not believe it! This was my second time at Mayo and they have always been so kind and empathetic to my situation. I encourage everyone to take their vehicles to Mayo, you will be treated fairly:)))))) read more

I have done business with Mayo Auto Works since the first shop on Robinnette and Stansluter! I truly valued their work until Tuesday! I have taken my 2008, 2010 and 2006 Benz to George the mechanic who does excellent work on foreign cars.Tuesday I took my daughter 2009 BMW for a look at the gearbox not receiving power do to having to manually put in drive .I initially was quoted 98.00 for a diagnosis which I explain was the issue ,but was later told it took 2 half hours to locate so already 196.00 in just diagnosis fees(remember ) I ask for one hour, and to be contacted if it would take longer! George calls to say it was a cut wire that he could repair not replace so no parts! George says it would take 2 hours to replace the wire so 392.00 when I arrive the ticket has work not warranted I questioned it because I am paying almost 400.00 the OWNER while talking with another customer screams the dealer would have charge more then bargain with the guy from 430.00 for rotaries to 230.00 just to replace front while continually yelling at George and I about my ticket.Lesson learn but to appease me owner tells the awesome front counter person to take off 12.00 ****Well Thanks ***** I will take my car to CHAMPION or EURO !!!!As a female getting repairs done I really trusted George work and the staff at MAYO was previously awesome to deal with!! read more

I went in to have the two back tires rotated to the front of my car and the two front tires removed with more added in their place. I already had the tires and gave them directions three different times for what I needed done. After they finished up and I got home I realized that they didn't place the tires on the car like I had specified so I called them up and they asked me to come back in. I go in they fix the situation but then I noticed that the front right tire had a huge tear in the sidewall which was not there before. I contacted my husband to let him know what was going on and texted him a picture of the tire. He proceeded to call the store and asked for the owner. My husband asked him nicely how their process worked with changing out the tires and explained to him about the tear. My husband never accused anyone of tearing it but he wasn't sure if maybe the tire somehow got pinched. The owner got very angry and told my husband that before he called up there making accusations he needs to know what the hell he is talking about. My husband then said sir I was never rude to you nor did I accuse anyone of any foul play I was simply asking what the process was there and that my husband didn't think that being cussed out was professional. The owner then said he didn't cuss my husband out, he was a Christian Man! My husband said so you didn't just say I need to know what the hell I am talking about before I call your store and the owner hung up on my husband. Okay for the record my husband is a United States Soldier who is currently away on a mission and did not in any way deserve to be treated in that way by the owner or anyone from Mayo Autoworks. Clearly he was only trying to find out what could have caused this to happen to our tire and it sure wasn't our fault! Went in to have a issue looked at, based on some of the reviews i read on Yelp. Charged $99 before even looking at the car to diagnose it. Once diagnosed told me it would be close to $700 to fix a thermostat housing on a 2008 mini cooper base. Told me the part alone was close to $200. Called mini cooper of Austin to see what they charged for the part, turns out its a $35 part. I could not belive they would mark up the price that much. I called a mechanic at Eurotech that isnt as close who i thought was on the expensive side to find out parts and labor would have been under $500. This place takes advantage of people and gouges the price of every aspect of the process from the $99 to diagnose it, $35 in coolant, to the outrageous 500% markup of a part that was brought to them, and finnaly close to $100/hr in labor this place is ridiculous. They werent even professional enough to break down the bill. Went confronted about the part price i was told thats how much it costed and i wouldnt find it cheaper, even after showing them proof of a cheaper price if I could give it half a star I would try and look up reviews on other mechanics. read more
