I will definitely take my car there. But they aren't cheap. Where that effects me the most is that they want to start every repair off with hooking the car up to expensive diagnostic machine. Even for a brake problem. In that instance I used another local mechanic, found the problem was a sticking pin on the calipers. Glad I avoided the $80 machine that wouldn't have detected the mechanical/non-electronic cause of the issue. I've had the cars there several other times. I never felt like they were taking advantage of me or any other customer that I saw in there. I think their overhead is high and they have to maximise revenue. If you're looking for that shop that might not be the cheapest and isn't going to cheat you, these guys work. read more

Highly recommend Maywood Auto Repair. My car broke down due to a faulty oil change (different mechanic). I haven't had to use a auto service in independence before so i chose one at random. When i took it to Maywood Auto, Jeff and his team were professional from the start. They were very descriptive on what they would be doing. And went above and beyond to make sure i was getting the best prices, by looking up affordable parts. The manager Jeff is awesome. I brought in a Chevy 1500 for some brake work, and ended up being way out of my budget. I didn't have the title to the truck so I had no interest in paying the hefty price to run new brake lines, rotors, pads, etc. Jeff was such a great guy, explaining the problem and sending pictures to my mobile device so I could get my money back to the guy I got ripped off. Luckily with those pictures I got my money back. Though it was dangerous to drive home on such horrible breaks, Jeff had me call the shop to make sure I made it home alright. To top it all off, I didn't pay a dime for the diagnostic, because he ofelt bad about my situation.Such a great guy I'll be sure to make it back there! 10/10 service! read more

I took my 2002 Toyota Camry in for a state inspection, an oil change and new wiper blades. Jeff and the guys at Maywood are friendly, helpful and get the job done right the first time. The shop is always neat, clean and organized. All of the guys care about making sure the customer understands what they are doing and why. They never hesitate to answer any questions you have. The work is always done correctly and they don't try to sell you any unneccessart services. However they are good about letting you know any issues that maybe coming up with your car. We've been taking our cars to Maywood Transmission for years. They always treat us like family and our cars as if they were their own. I whole heartedly recommend them as the place to go - especially for diagnostics! Stan, Jeff and Jeff are always honest and straight forward - and very helpful. Today when I finally decided I'd better look into replacing the 1999 Buick Century that they've taken care of for most of its 190k+ miles, they took the time to discuss the different types of cars they'd recommend based on type of vehicle, gas mileage and upkeep costs. well, on 11/16/2015, I took my 2005 chevy truck to maywood auto repair thur an ad I received in the mail...They said they were honest & reasonable......I went in to have an airbag light that was staying on.........they diagnosed it problem......it cost me $114.77 to tell me which one was bad...then he (Jeff) that its better to replace both sensors in the front since one of them is bad.......So I say how much will that cost? He says they could replace both sensors for about $650.00....I say , that seems a little high so maybe I'll wait on that repair........he says ok....Then he tells me, my battery is bad.....my coolant in the radiator is bad...my brake fluid in the brake system is bad....anyway I had the battery and antifreeze replaced......that was $435.52....that included the $114.77.worth of diagnoses.......So then I go by the auto parts store to see how much the airbag sensor is........$85.00 plus tax....So when I get home , I get under the front of my truck take out 4 bolts that hold the protective shield on... remove it......and lo and behold.......there is the two airbag sensors, All four of the electronic wires that went to the sensors were disconnected and dangling loose.....that is the way the (mechanic) left them........I was not impressed....to say the least......So i replaced the one sensor put every thing back together in about 20 mins. and the $650.00 job they were going charge me......cost me $85.00 and tax and 20 mins of my time...........So i really CAN'T recommend maywood auto repair..........E.L. The wife & I were 4x4 in Colorado last year on Imogene Pass (elevation 13,114') and having a blast enjoying the view and hike. Got back to my 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser and it would not start, just kept turning over. Up until then I had never had ANY issues with this truck, but late afternoon and skies starting to darken - we had a problem. Up drives a Jeep and out steps Stan Vollenweider, has me turn it over, breaks out his rubber mallet and bangs on the skidplate just below fuel tank and it started-up. Pulled my rear out of the frying pan then explained I needed to replace my fuel pump asap, which I did and not another problem since. First off I want to state that we love our 2010 Jeep Wrangler. We are full time RVers and travel around the country. We flat tow our Jeep and it is our everyday vehicle. With that being said we really enjoy taking it off road and are not afraid to use it for what it was built for. After seven days of 4wheelin in Ouray, CO we ended up in Independence, MO and found Maywood Auto Repair. The main reason for visiting this shop was to have the Jeep serviced and to question (what we thought) small issues. Stan and Jeff had their techs go through it with a fine tooth comb. They found some issues that we didn't even know were there. They took the time and showed us each concern and gave us options and recommendations on corrective actions. They fixed each item and made sure that we could see and understand what was happening. When we got our Jeep back it ran and drove as smooth as when it was new. We have made some life long friends and they now have some loyal customers. Whenever we are even close to that part of the country we will stop by. With them being a NAPA shop, we can drive with confidence knowing wherever we are at all NAPA approved shops will cover any warranty parts and labor done. The work we had done was: Engine service, transmission service, tire rotation, upper and lower ball joints, front axle U-joints, rear brake pads, trail dash computer and pod, hood vent, rattle from skid plate.
