One was a small side Caesar salad which I got. I was disappointed in the continuing practice for restaurants to charge for small changes like this within informing the customer. Waitress was very nice, however and attentive. What is also quite unique about the restaurant was that you could order small 4 oz beers, just for tasting at $2-3 each. The place is quite large and must get incredibly noisy at times with the hard surfaces and multiple TVs. There is an option to sit directly at the bar or at tables.

If you are looking for recommendations, I highly suggest trying: The Meatballs: A fantastic twist on a classic, served in a delicious lemon dill sauce instead of a typical marinara. The Sliders: Perfect pulled pork paired with fried green tomatoes and a tangy horseradish sauce. They also feature a highly creative and unique cocktail menu. Two of my personal standouts are the Beetle Juice, which incorporates fresh beet juice, and The Fishbone, which brilliantly highlights their house-made aquavit. Overall, it's a wonderful spot for a great atmosphere and an inventive menu!

I've come as a Charlotte newbie, then became the one showing the place off to visitors, and in between I'll show up for a trivia night here and there. Staff here is my personal favorite- everyone is kind but not pushy or bothersome. They know the bar and the food menu.. I have asked what to order and fully gone along with their suggestions. Zero regrets. This is also a wonderful place to take friends or family visiting from out of town. My parents moved down here with me; just across the border in SC, but absolutely loved it here when I took them. They're boring and picky, and Wooden Robot somehow was exactly what they were looking for.

Now they are part that too with a bunch of apps, wings, burgers, etc. I got my usual flight (theirs has 5 beers...wooohooo!) which consisted of a vanilla coffee blonde, a Mexican Lager, a Helles, an IPA and a hazy pale ale. All of them were really good with the hazy pale ale and the vanilla coffee blonde being my favorites. Cool art of the Wooden Robot could be found throughout the brewery. My only regret is that I didn't buy a t-shirt.

We came in at a time when it wasn't really busy, but it took forever for our server to come around. Ordered two glasses of red and the cheese plate only to be told after we received the wine that there was no charcuterie -- at all. Not a "need to substitute" or "we're missing one of the items" just completely 86ed. Despite being prominently featured at the top of the menu! Since we already had our wine, we had to order something else. I went with the cheese sticks, and my mom ordered a hamburger based on what the table next to us had. When she got her burger though, despite us ordering the same as the table next to us, it was a completely different burger. She ate it anyway and my cheese sticks were okay for pub food. But overall, a really disappointing experience based on what we expected. And we had to hunt down the server to pay so we could get back to the conference on time.

Service was friendly, although I would say our server didn't know anything about the beers but in her defense, they had a large variety of beers on tap. They are quick to mention that the food comes out when it's ready, so the food we got for the six people in my party came out over a period of about 15 minutes. Since that was disclosed up front, I didn't think it's an issue but if you're someone who wants to wait until everyone is served before digging in, you may have to eat cold food. I had mac and cheese and it was pretty good. Overall, this is an acceptable place to eat.

Even with the rain pouring outside, the restaurant was completely full -- chandeliers glowing, fountain flowing, conversations everywhere. Somewhere between the lobster, caviar, and the ambiance, there was a small snafu. The hostess later sent over dessert to apologize. A small gesture, but one that made the night feel even warmer.

My husband chose this place again for his birthday dinner…read more.. We arrived for dinner RSVP at 6 pm, and the place was bustling. It seemed it was prom night, and there were many well dressed kids (mostly girls...with dates?). In any case, the place was gorgeous as usual...and as usual, the menu was a bit offputting. The price points are truly outlandish for what you get here. An example? A basic burger is 24 bucks...without fries! Truly, you're paying an extra 15 bucks or more for the ambiance. Pricing aside, even the options on the menu was a bit of a head scratcher. Honestly, there's barley a thing on there that appealed to me. Well, it used to be the Lobster Roll...but I had that a few times, and frankly, it's just not that good. It's small, and the bread is too hard...and again, despite the outlandish pricing, it doesn't even come with any sides. If this was any other restaurant, I'd probably just want to walk out. But then, there's the ambiance! Even that was a bit of an issue for me. On this night, there was hardly any music playing...and if so, it was on so low that I could barely hear it. There goes part of the ambiance...at least for me! My husband got his usual...the French Roasted Chicken, my son got the Roasted Sandwich, and I got the Shaved Ribeye Dip. We also ordered the Fries and the Creme Brulee for dessert. Well, more than ever, we all were extremely disappointed. First of all, my husband's dish looked nothing like it used to...paled in comparison in taste and presentation! In fact, afterwards, he said he'll never choose this place again to celebrate his birthday! My son and I just felt our sandos were OK at best...and really for its ridiculous price point, they were bordering bad. The bits of salad with our hand-helds were Argula...pretty, but possibly one of my least favorite veggie? Fries were good...but priced separately for $11-12 bucks, they should be! Then even the dessert was abysmal. Most creme brulees come with fruits...or some type of topping. Not here! Just a basic creme brulee. SO basic...with 1 ugly candle for my husband's birthday. It wasn't complimentary either. Just a DUD all the way through! As gorgeous as this place is, I'm just not sure if their foods are worth it anymore. BTW, for drinks, I got this Orange Cocktail (Blah!), and my husband got some beer (?). Again, nothing special. If this place cares to up their game, they should try harder...but apparently, they don't. In fact, it seems things are getting worse. I mean, just look at the recent Roasted Chicken plate...TERRIBLE!!! One thing positive is that we managed to get some good birthday pictures out of this fancy schmancy scene with good lighting....but the rest of it was just beyond underwhelming. Sorry, but gotta drop down to 2 stars this time.
