No reservations required but the place is rightfully packed on a the more popular dinner nights. Luckily there is additional parking behind the car sales establishment next door. A very nice environment for dinning or a nice event. A plethora of seating options, high top tables, booths, standard tables and even outdoor seating. The service we got from Cameron was great. Not rushed, he answered all our questions and was attentive but not intrusive. So friendly and efficient. The food was stellar, seriously. They offer several different steak cuts, preparation options and phenomenal sides. The entree offerings are very impressive. But the surprise for me was the menu. Many of the dishes offered full portions or small portions. Even as we were eating OUR meals I was watching what was being delivered at nearby tables. Amazing. Found a new date night spot.. no pun intended but yes it's local for us! Great service and can't wait to try more of their menu! Saw this restaurant on Charlotte's Restaurant week website. I wanted to take the husband out to another Queens Fest to try more 'local' flavors. And he loved this spot. He had the Rocky River Ribeye, with herb butter- perfectly seared, light crust, very good. For me I did the Queens feast .. bacon wrapped scallops, French onion soup, 10oz peppercorn sirloin. And wow! So so good. And I loved my drinks.. thymed to get smashed. After visiting the Reed Gold Mine. We wanted to get a local bite. Found this place and let me tell you. Not disappointed AT ALL. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, the interior was extremely clean and had various locations to sit including bar with TV. But the food... my goodness! I stopped by The Local Room on Father's Day weekend with my girlfriend and her family. I wasn't too sure what to expect, but it had a big crowd and the menu looked enticing so I was excited. The experience was mixed. It took us nearly half an hour to get our drinks and I'm not exaggerating. Our server was very apologetic, it sounds like the bar was really backed up due to a shortage on glasses. It wasn't enjoyable waiting that long, but I understand sometimes things like that happen and the manager came by and comped all of our drinks so it is nice that they acknowledged it. You would think that would put their score lower, but I have to say the food was excellent. I got a Cajun chicken sandwich that was absolutely delicious. The chicken was blackened and came with bacon and a garlic aoli that was delectable. Aside from the service hiccup which was likely just a fluke and not the usual experience, this restaurant was great and I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

Solid 5 stars!!!!! This place is gorgeous and so, so clean and stylish on the inside!!!! We made reservations and were glad we did, because the parking lot was totally full other than one available spot!!!! The hostess was so kind and helpful and took us to a clean table right away. Our waitress was a really sweet girl. She was very helpful when we were ordering drinks for brunch, letting us know about local favorites!! My mom and I enjoyed two amazing cocktails, along with a delicious app. Our appetizer was the green fried tomatoes! They were sweet and savory at the same time, so deliciously made and smothered in fresh, amazing toppings!!! Then we ordered another appetizer, the fried squash! It was seasoned beautifully!!!! And fried just right!!! The ranch was zesty and tasted house made!! We ordered two French onion soups for our entrees and were not disappointed!!!! I mean it was exactly what I needed today!!! We finished off the outing with some creme brûlée, which I had never had before. It was fantastic!!! Everything was served so beautifully and delicately! The portion sizes were customizable, where you could do an individual portion or a shareable or bigger portion, which I was pleased to see on the menu. This is our go to place. We love the people, the atmosphere and the food. We regularly bring new people there because it is always wonderful. Chef Payne updates the menu regularly and offers chef's dinners several times a year all of which we have attended and highly recommend. A few months ago I had contacted TLR to reserve a spot for celebrating a friends retirement party & accidentally forgot to confirm the number for our party. This was a first for me but the managers at TLR were still able to accommodate us, despite it being the day before when we realized this mass failure on my part. Not a good experience versus previous visits. Arrived at 6:15, asked if we had reservations, responded no, told we would have to sit at the community table. An hour and a half later, ALL tables around us that were empty when we arrived were still empty. Not sure what the issue was/is, but moving forward we don't need to come back. BTW, the Salmon was nothing special, my Jameson neat was a "short" poor and the Creme Brule wasn't "torched" properly. GREAT Fried Green Tomato appetizer. We had not been to the local room in years because we weren't crazy about the food we'd had in the past. We saw they had revamped their menu so we wanted to give them another try. Last night the food was delicious. We got the honey buttered yeast rolls to start, which you can never go wrong with! The hubs got the Locust sirloin and I got the Chicken tortellini in Brie reduction with the fried goat cheese side salad. All were excellent but that fried goat cheese salad was chefs kiss! I would absolutely get that again with a grilled protein. I also got the vanilla hazelnut old fashioned, definitely one of the top 5 old fashioneds I've had. My husband and I attended this establishment on a Friday night for his birthday. It was busy, due to graduations and there was another big event happening out on the patio-- but our service was still good. Our waitress was attentive and polite, and the manager was accommodating as well. My husband ordered steak, with Brussel sprouts and I ordered the fire roasted salmon with black eyed peas. On the first go, my salmon came out dry and I wasn't a fan of the black eyed peas-- this was quickly corrected, they did cook me a salmon that was much better and swapped out my side for broccoli which I found more palatable. I appreciated that both the waitress and the manager acknowledged the mistake with the salmon and were apologetic and kind about the swaps. My husband stated his food was average. He enjoyed the second drink he got which was a listed drink that tasted more like an old fashioned than what he originally ordered (a straight old fashioned). Overall I can understand why people would enjoy coming here as the service was good-- although dinner left a little to be desired. It could have been because it was a busy night, so if I ever found myself over that way again I might give it another try. read more

We used to go here a lot when they first opened. Stopped because quality and service did not match price. it will probably be awhile before we go back again. Sat at the uncrowded bar, treated like an after thought. Bar tender was too busy paying attention to a group of 3 men (friends?). And a large party sitting outside that kept coming inside to order drinks. Manager? seemed to be just wandering around, getting in the way. We ordered baby back ribs to split, regular salad, wedge salad and 2 baked potatoes. Wedge salad was basically a head of iceberg with some stuff put on it. it used to be delicious, I guess they changed lettuce? The gentleman beside me couldn't even figure out what it was, he had to ask. Ribs had a good taste but was covered in bone fragments. We keep having to pick bone fragments out of our mouth. I could have used an extra plate but nobody checked on us. Husband ordered no onion, of course salad had onions. He also was left with no refills on tea through whole meal, even though he had asked for more. I had a mixed drink, it should have been a clue when I saw bartender looking up recipe. Left that $12 drink with only a few sips drank out of it. I see all these glowing reviews but food and service still do not match price. Heard good things about this place so we decided to stop in while in the area. We showed up for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait. My first impression as we pulled up was that the place was very cute, the outside looks fresh and modern. We were seated outside on the covered patio and quickly greeted by our server. I love that they have large and small portions of just about everything on the menu. That gives you an opportunity to try multiple items or just get a portion that fits your waistline. :) They have several flavored mimosas on the brunch menu. I ordered a Blackberry lemonade mimosa which was tasty. I also had a Sangria flora de locust, since I love sangrias and saw this drink option after the fact. It was good, but the bartender added a little too much syrup for my taste. For an app we tried the Chef's fried green tomatoes. We got the small portion, which was 4 tomatoes-- OMG! That was so tasty I wanted more. They were topped with a yummy honey syrup and a scoop of pimento cheese. The sweet/salty/crunchy combo was everything! For my main I ordered the Stacked against all waffles, all "porked" out style. Sadly this is where things went wrong for me. I wished I had selected a different entree. Presentation-wise it was underwhelming. The menu described the dish as "piled high", but what I received was just the opposite. A huge platter with a single small flat waffle and egg on the side. My bacon came out right after on a separate plate and I had to request syrup since none was provided. As for the taste, I didn't like the waffle at all. It was described as a "homemade buttermilk waffle" but it tasted more like a Belgian sugar waffle. It was very sweet, more like dessert than anything. I was really disappointed but I ate it anyway. I had expressed some frustration when my husband received two waffles in his order and I only received one. They were nice enough to bring me a second waffle although I guess the dish is really only supposed to come with one? Anyway, I didn't want to be difficult so I just ate it. We were in the area and had heard great things about The Local Room, so stopped in for brunch. I was not disappointed and it was a great experience for me! The food and drinks were really good! Definitely try the fried green tomatoes! They were a hit! I also had the brunch menu waffles with chicken fried trouble. I'm not a huge fan of white gravy, but this made me rethink my view in it! It paired very nicely with the chicken and the waffle, which had a sugar crunch to them. It was great! The mimosa and the mule were both great as well! The Local Room has a great vibe, with plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio. It's located off of Main St/24 on Central Ave in Locust. There is plenty of parking available as well. The staff were all friendly and helpful in making choices. My wife had an issue with her order and they were quick to fix it/comp it on the bill. I've wanted to eat here for a while but never made it up this far til today. Per my experience, it's definitely worth the drive. My first impression is that the area is clean and well maintained. Hostess was pleasant and allowed me to choose my seating. I started at the bar but the bartender was busy and I was short on time, so i switched to a booth. My server was prompt and advised me she was fresh off of training. That's always good to know, as I'm more patient and look for teachable moments. However, she was well trained and pleasant. The food was tasty and I particularly enjoyed the wedge salad. I thought they could add a little extra on the plate with the salmon, but the salmon was well prepared, and I enjoyed it. I appreciate the opportunity to order a small versus a full portion. We shared the French Onion soup as our appetizer. It was good, but not the best I have had. Saw this place was packed every time I drove by, and that piqued my interest. One visit later and I see why it's so busy. The house burger is legitimately one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Great seasoning, the sauce complements the flavor so well, and you can't go wrong with pimento cheese. The fried side dishes are all great too, especially with the ranch. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, if not a little loud. Staff are quite friendly, and attentive, even at peak hours. Only downside is the parking. Pretty cramped lot with relatively few spots. But even then we managed to nab a space. So if ya couldn't tell, I really like this place. It really is THE local spot. read more

It is the first Fathers Day since my FIL passed and we made reservations three weeks ago for an inside table at the Local Room as this was the last place we ate out with him. We arrive at 5:20 to find out there are going to sit us outside. It is 86 outside and we are dressed up for dinner. Management and staff are simply unconcerned and say they took over a 100 reservations for inside and cannot accommodate that many. Well then don't accept that many! This is completely unacceptable and now I have our whole family upset having to find another option. Thank you for ruining our Fathers Day Local Room. read more

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and we were not disappointed. There's plenty of parking at the restaurant. We received a warm and enthusiastic greeting from the hostess. I have to say that I appreciate history, and the large black and white photos of historic Locust on the walls were a nice touch and were the perfect complement to the beautifully preserved building that now houses the restaurant. We were seated right away in a booth, but I would have been okay at any of the stools at the large bar that serves as a focal point in the center of the dining room floor. Our server, Morgan, welcomed us as first timers and took a minute to explain the large / small portion prices on the menu, in addition to some of its most popular options. Morgan did a great job of attending to our needs and even offered me a drink refill after we asked for the check. The bacon-wrapped scallops were a great starter. The side salad included homemade croutons, something rarely seen in restaurants today. The entree portions were generous and delicious. The premiums sides, including the roasted potatoes and baked apples and pecans, were well worth the $3 up charge. Unfortunately, the chocolate cake for dessert was not a good finish to an otherwise perfect meal, but I'll definitely try the cream brûlée next time. read more

Our first time at The Local Room. We were there at lunchtime. We were seated right away and asked our server a few questions that he was able to help us navigate through. Two ladies at our table got 1/4 lb. burgers and fries and they said they were some of the best burgers they've ever had. I got the french onion soup and a small spinach salad. It was SO good. The vinaigrette on the salad was delicious!!! The other salad at our table was the Mediterranean salad and she added grilled Shrimp. Our friend loved the salad but felt her shrimp was a bit over done but she still thought it was tasty.
