    Hummus and felafel.
    Heithem E.

Very cool little spot off the main drag in Yellow Springs. Very friendly service - happy to guide you through the menu and explain their food. I went there for lunch on consecutive days ... I had a special, mushroom and cabbage bao bun. Delicious with umami and crunch. Also had the addictive fried mushrooms, fresh from a local farm. Today is had the hummus and felafel plate. The best felafel I've had outside of my mom's. Hummus was delicious. I also had the scallion pancake with hoisin and chili oil. Thin and chewy and delicious! I got a try taste of their chaat and it was light and delicious. I would drive to Yellow Springs to eat here and visit these folks again!

MAZU: Where Flavor Takes the Spotlight Stepping into MAZU is like entering a culinary theater where every dish deserves a standing ovation. From the zesty Hummus and Falafel Platter to the umami-packed Yansu Mushrooms, each plate is a masterclass in flavor choreography. The Chocolate Pudding? A sweet sonnet. The Masala Chaat? A vegetarian revelation that could convert the staunchest carnivore (me). And the staff? Total pros -- the kind of effortlessly cool, wildly attentive crew that makes you feel like a beloved regular even if it's your first time. MAZU doesn't just serve meals; it curates experiences that linger on your palate and in your memories. In a world of culinary understudies, MAZU is the headliner you didn't know you were waiting for. Bravo!

After a long day of hiking at Clifton Gorge and walking around Yellow Springs, MAZU was a welcome indulgence. This delightful vegan fusion restaurant combines Mediterranean and Taiwanese cuisine. The food was tasty, the employees were kind, and the service was quick. The restaurant was small and cosy and offered both indoor and outdoor seating. I got the dandan mian with and iced chai and loved it. I definitely want to go back to this place so I can try more of their menu items.

Come. Here. For anyone who enjoys food, MAZU was just amazing. Everyone was super friendly and there was such a sense of community when we came. The owner greeted us and gave us a run down of the menu and while we were waiting for food she was making efforts to recall repeat customers. Everything about MAZU felt comfortable, warm, and inviting. It was just a great space to be in, before we even got the food. Food was just so flavorful and well cooked and balanced. I ordered way too much, per usual, but thought the food was definitely worth the price and was so fresh and delicious that I wish I ordered more. We started with the guabao and the masala poori chaat, the latter being one of my favorite dishes. It has such a mix of textures, flavors, and spices that was so warming on a chill fall day. We also got the special of the day which was the sabich and I cannot speak highly enough of it. Fried potato, eggplant in a pita with salad and an amazing mango chutney? Yes, please! The falafel platter was also just outstanding and some of the best falafel I've ever had, vibrant and green and a hint of cardamom which worked so well. Not to mention all the drinks we ended up trying, all of which were well balanced and so refreshing. This was definitely a food destination for me and I can't wait to make the trip back out just to try more of the menu. They have limited hours and only on the weekends but for sure, make the trip out here!

Simply put...Mazu blew me away. It is worth going out of your way to catch the open hours. They operate Friday-Sunday from 11-2 only. The entrance is tucked back in an alley behind the Wine Emporium. Indoor and patio seating is available. Order at the counter with friendly staff and they call your name when your food is ready. Menu is not large but everything on it sounded delicious. If you like mango, you have to try the lassi. It is incredible. Thick, cold, creamy and not too sweet. The kofta had a kick and was a bit too salty. Poori was light and crispy. The hummus plate looked so good and next time I will not miss the scallion pancake. The food reminded me a bit of Joya's in Columbus and I mean that as the highest compliment. Both the food and the energy of the whole place were beautiful.

Falafel on an onion pita with salsa. Delicious!

This is a little place tucked down a small walkway in Yellow Springs. It is so worth taking time to stop in even if you're not hungry. The menu is developed by the three owners which is Israel, Indian, and Thailand. This place is a must try.

I usually wait TOO LONG to review, which leads me to forget the good/bad/ugly of the places I visit. NOT going to happen here, because MAZU is THAT good, and I don't want to forget a single detail!! Other than their (understandably...I guess!!) limited hours, this new, HIDDEN gem in downtown YS is PERFECT!! If you're lucky enough to catch them open (Friday-Sunday, 11am-2pm) you're in for a wonderful, well-presented, eclectic treat. Choose from Israeli/Middle Eastern, Asian, and Indian "street food" (generously sized apps) or entrees. I wanted a little bit of everything (as usual......) so I went for three of the street food choices, the scallion pancake, which came with fresh sliced cucumbers and several great dipping sauces, the masala poori chat, a surprising mixture of flavors and textures, and my favorite, the guabao steamed bun. Of course, I ordered MUCH too much, but had some wonderful leftovers for dinner later that evening. Make plans to fit YOUR schedule to theirs, get there early to snag a seat, grab a menu, make your choice/s, order at the bar, and an AMAZING, reasonably priced, vegan adventure through the Far, Middle, and Near East awaits!! Best of luck, Mazu... Namaste, L'hitraot, and Xi-Xi for a great meal!!

This place is a gem in Ohio. It's vegan, but it's so delicious and although I'm not vegan I enjoyed the flavors and colors of the dishes. I had an appetizer Scallion Pancake, (葱油饼), it's tasty and sauces were delicious. Main entree was hummus and Falafels- everything was fresh, healthy and most importantly delicious. We will for sure come back and try other things.

Service was amazing from the start, super friendly, and Ahmed made the experience even better by letting us try a few samples since it was our first time. That alone stood out. My wife got the falafel bowl and I had the chicken plate with baba ghanoush and pita everything was super fresh and full of flavor. We also tried the eggplant salad and the Jerusalem salad (which had a nice spicy kick), and my wife loved both. We even ended up ordering some of the items we sampled because they were that good. The place was clean, the owners were generous, and you can tell they really care about their food and customers. Definitely coming back next time we are in the area!

We were greeted promptly and with a smile when entering! Very welcoming atmosphere. Service was great! They offered ideas and samples of their Hummus and Baba Ghanoush. Both were absolutely delicious! They make both in house. We ordered: **"Chicken Platter ($17). It came with, Chicken Shawarma, rice, Falafel, Hummus, Grape Leaves, Tzatziki Sauce, Garlic Sauce & Cucumber Salad. ***Side order of Baba Ghanoush & Pita ($7) ***Chicken Wrap ($12). It came with fries and Chicken Shawarma. It came with other toppings but our son only wanted the chicken and pita. ***Lamb Wrap ($10). It came with Fries. It had Tzatziki, Onion, Pickles, Red Cabbage, Tomatoes, & Tahini Sauce. All our food was freshly made, absolutely delicious, very flavorful, and served hot. We got our order to go. The only negative is they served the pitas in a brown paper lunch bag. The bag was not food safe since the bag was made from recycled materials. Usually places will wrap the pitas in aluminum foil or a sandwich bag, or put it on top of your food. We ended up not eating the pitas. I'm sure they tasted good since everything else did. We will definitely be back and highly recommend the place!

After a Great Clips haircut, on the recommendation of the stylist, I tried it out, was very impressed. Been there many times since, never been disappointed. I've since moved to Liberty Twp. but the Phoenician still beckons. Had dinner last night there with my wife. It was a wonderful experience. I felt it was high time I wrote them up. We started with an excellent double-hop IPA and a great Lebanese red wine, I think it was called Kefraya. Gonna seek it out locally, maybe at Jungle Jim's. As always, the pita bread is fresh, oven-hot and delectable. The shankleen appetizer is outstanding, a lovely fusion of greens, lentils, feta cheese, olive oil and spices. Wife ordered schwirma - slow-grilled combo of sliced chicken alongside sliced beef and lamb. The waiter obligingly substituted a side of couscous for rice, no extra charge. I had a braised shank of lamb in a rich tomato sauce. Both entrees were delicious. As always, the portions were very generous, so we took food home along with complimentary fresh pita bread. Besides the great food, the service is superb. The owner makes a point of stopping at each table to ensure that the diners are happy. We look forward to our next visit.

Super fresh and the bread that came with it was so good. Even the dipping sauce was amazing. My Shawarma chicken was super delish. You have to put the garlic butter on the rice!
