This place gets one star just because the food. Other wise the employee named Rhonda is not nice. She had an attitude when I asked what kind of fries they served. She answered in a very rude tone of voice and said uhhh they're just fries. Then my boyfriend and I started to name off all the different types of fries: wedges, steak cut, crisscross, etc. the other employee told us they are similar to McDonald's French fries. Pretty bad Mazzios. They never have the spinach Alfredo sauce so they just add pieces of fresh spinach on top that gets crispy. The only Deep Dish Crust you can get is in a large size. Their hand tossed is very close to their thin except the hand tossed has corn meal under it. It's always a horrible experience when I go here and something is always wrong with my food but the call of their Alfredo sauce is so strong. I love how rich it is. read more

I travel often and when I go to a new place I try to go local. So looking at the menu they had a Ken's pizza that looked really good so ordered online, ken's pepperoni, black olive and onions, thin crust well done. Sounds easy. Walked to the place and noticed it was not busy at all. No one in the drive thru one table occupied. As soon as I got there they told me the "chef" have made a mistake and made it hand tossed. I was very nice and asked him to remake it. Even asked the counter staff to remind him to cook it well done. When I got back to the hotel room what I got was a very under cooked mess of a pizza with mushrooms instead of onions. I was hesitant at first to give this place a try considering the empty parking lot but I'm glad that we did. The stuffed crust Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza was legit as was their wings with homemade ranch. This place is a absolute shit show. The cashier was absolutely rude. We paid 70 for 4 people to eat the wings were horrible the food was horrible. They brought us someone else's food then we watched them take it to the back then take it to the other table after we touched it. We were driving through McAlester on our way home to Texas around lunchtime on Jan. 2. Because we had our dog with us in the car, we needed to stop someplace quick and saw a Mazzio's, and our son had been begging for pizza for three days. I had never been to Mazzio's, but I figured if I can ingest Cici's Pizza and my sister's cooking, I can probably eat anything and be okay. It's kind of hard to mess up pizza, right? (But then again, there's Cici's and my sister, so...) Anyway, I saved the receipt. We placed our order at 1:16pm. The buffet was still going, so my son and I, both vegetarians, opted for that, although that probably was a stupid move. l mean, we could clearly see that there were literally two slices of meat-free pizza on a buffet table with about 12 kinds of what appeared to be shapeless meatball-and-pepperoni pizza. Yum. But we're also cheap folk, and the buffet was indeed cheaper than a small cheese pizza. You read that right. All you can eat salad and pizza is cheaper than a tiny cheese pizza that serves one human. My husband, the wisest of the three of us, chose to do the build-your-own small pizza. He asked the sweet-looking young person behind the register if they could make a margherita pizza. This is the ensuing conversation: Worker: "What's that?" Husband: "It has tomato and basil on it." Worker: "Margherita? I've never even heard of that." Me: "And it has cheese on it too." Husband: "Well, yeah, that too. Cheese, tomato, and basil." Worker: "What's basil?" Husband: "Basil?" Worker: "Yeah." Me: "It's like an herb." Worker goes to the back to see if they can make that, and apparently they can. Great! My son and I grab our plates and head to the buffet, where I fill up on carrots, broccoli, and croutons because my son got the two vegetarian slices and my plan to make a big delicious salad failed when I saw that they had premixed cucumbers into the spinach leaves of the salad, despite their being a bajillion little cupholes for salad toppings. Apparently, cucumbers and spinach leaves are a must for Mazzio's salad-eaters. Stuff like carrots and broccoli are for those weirdos who want to add stuff later. I can't eat cucumbers, so carrots, broccoli, and croutons it was. Then, I located a rogue piece of what appeared to be vegetable pizza lurking in the midst of the meatball-and-pepperoni stuff, which I take to be simply the absence of meatballs and pepperoni on one slice. I ate it, and it was pretty bad, tasteless stuff. I noticed they had a chicken pizza, so I grabbed a slice of that because I guess carrots, broccoli, croutons, and one slice of vegetable cardboard doesn't fill this girl up, so I picked off the chicken, and after one bite, I couldn't put another one in my mouth. It was that bad. And this from the girl who has successfully ingested both Cici's and my sister's attempts at pizza. So then I take a cue from my son, who has now made his way to the cinnamon dessert and grab a little square of the sweet stuff from the buffet. It was super-oily - like, you could hold the dessert upside down, and all the butter would pour off like syrup - but it was pretty tasty. So I ate more of that stuff. My son and I each finished our meals - and I noticed my husband sitting there with no food in front of him. Being the loving wife I am, I said, "Boy, I sure am glad we didn't wait for you to get your food before we started eating." He agreed. It had been about 30 minutes. He went to the counter to ask the worker there about his small cheese pizza with tomatoes and that rare herb, basil, and she hustled to the back to ask. She came back and said, "3 more minutes!" I decided to check on our dog and make sure she hadn't frozen in the car. We went for a 5-minute run around the golf course behind the restaurant, and I let her go to the bathroom before tucking her back in her bed under her blanket in the car. I go back in the restaurant, and my husband is still sitting there with no food in front of him. The store wasn't even busy; there were maybe three or four other tables being used, and only two of them seemed to be getting food made from the kitchen. I should also mention that the worker behind the counter has been scuttling around the restaurant cleaning right by us and never said a word to us or to my husband - never asked if we needed anything, reassured him about his pizza - nothing. A few minutes later, here comes the pizza chef. My husband's back was to the kitchen, and instead of coming to the side of the table and placing his pizza in front of him, she walks up behind him and slaps the plate in front of him saying, "Here you go." And leaves. We got back in the car after my husband literally inhaled his pizza at 2:04. Looking at the receipt, we were charged $10 for his wimpy, too-hot pizza - which was listed as having "Extra cheese" (NOT what we asked for). Most of that "extra cheese" slid right off the thing, so that was a waste of money we never meant to spend. read more

I chose Mazzio's because I could walk to it from my hotel. It was decent enough food but it took a long time to get my food and the service is average to below average. When you walk in, it is set up like a fast casual restaurant, like a Fazoli's. They appear to be better known for pizza but also offer pasta dishes, calzones, salads. I ordered a "build-your-own-lasagna" It starts as standard lasagna and then you choose what sauce (marinara, meat, Alfredo), and which toppings at $0.50 each. I ordered with the meat sauce and a bunch of the veggies. You can choose to add salad bar for $4 and change. I am really glad I chose to do that because my lasagna took 35 min to show up. There were 2 couples whose orders came out before mine! So if you order a pasta, be prepared to wait. It was good considering the convenience, but I would likely choose something else in the same circumstances next time. read more

I will never order or eat at Mazzios again. We ordered pizza for our daughters birthday party at noon for pickup at 430. I arrived at 425 and they rang me up and gave them a tip. After 5 mins go by they informed me they hadn't even started cooking our order yet. Then gave me a few different excuses to why it wasn't even ready. All the while most of them were standing around doing nothing. Including the manger. Restaurant was dirty. If they have time to lean they have time to clean. 30 mins go by and we finally get our order. Did a quick look to see if everything was good and had to rush to get to party in time for everyone to eat. Open the box of wings and find out order was wrong. But didn't care at this point. I would not recommend them. Nothing like renting a place for my daughters birthday and only getting to spend the hour out of 2 with her family and friends Thanks to the staff at this restaurant. Don't bother. There are so many other pizza places in McAlester where the crew cares and the pizzas are tasty. I ordered my pizza online at 4:40 for 5:00 pick up. I got in line at the pick up window at 5:05ish. I spent 20 minutes waiting to move up (I was 2nd in line). After that 20 minutes, I finally gave up, parked and went in to get my pizza. They couldn't find my order. Finally after a 5 minute frantic search, someone actually checked online and saw that my order was there. Whoever it was came and said "we've been having trouble with the printer not printing out orders. Because your order has wings on it, it will be another 30 minutes." Well, instead of getting angry I just said "ok and went back to my car to wait." 30 minutes later (at 6:00 - a full hour after my original order was SUPPOSED to be done) I went in and picked up my order. Cold nasty pizza; cold, broken wings with no sauce. And not even an apology for the inconvenience or even an offer of a drink while I waited. Yeah - Don't bother. I try to give Mazzio's another chance ever couple of years...so far, they've never ONCE gotten it right. Employees were working in the back and prepping for Friday night business but was overall good with exception of first employee and her rude attitude because we had to look at the menu. Sabre was very argumentative and they had no knowledge of the menu portions at all. To pay 7.75 for sauce noodles and a little cheese and charge for anything else that should be in lasagna was ridiculous but Sabre insisted on telling me how very expensive their noodles are....um no! We placed a $60 order through the Mazzios App for three Kens Pizzas, two small cheese dippers, one order of cinnamon sticks, and one 16oz ranch. We placed the order at 9:01, and it said it would be ready for pick up at 9:21. We arrived at 9:20 and inquired about our order. We were met with looks of confusion. They finally realized it was an online order through the app, went and got the receipt for me to sign and said it will be a few minutes before it was ready. So we went to sit down and wait. No big deal. As we were waiting, another family of four came in, ordered a few pizzas and sat down to wait for there food to eat there. Approximately 15 minutes went by and their food was brought out to them. I then went up to the front and asked the assistant manager, Alma, if she could tell me how much longer it would be. She was completely inappropriate in her response by giving me excuse after excuse about online orders, not knowing when they are sent to them, that they had gotten busy, that the cook was responsible, etc. A simple apology would have sufficed, but she didn't take it in that direction. I then got irritated by this and there was some back and forth between her and I, and she continued to escalate her lack of concern for their failure to accommodate their customers. I finally said just give me a refund, and she said she would. I wanted something that showed I was getting a refund and more excuses as to why it couldn't be done right then and I would have to call in the morning to get proof of a refund or I would get an email. She would not give me anything in writing. I then asked her to find out when the ticket printed, because she said she didn't know when it was printed and nobody knew. I find that hard to believe that their is no accountability for things like that. She continued to get aggravated with me because I was irritated with their lack of concern and frankly smart ass attitude about the whole deal. After discussing the way their online orders are handled, or not handled in this situation, I then told Alma to give me my food if she can't give me a refund. She then said "oh, now you want your food?". I said "that's what I said isn't it?, give me my food." She then told me not to get an attitude and be smart and I told her the same. She handed me my food, and proceeded to tel me to get out of her store. I told her I would gladly leave. And then realized they didn't have part of my order, so she had to get me the rest. I don't understand why an assistant manager would handle things like this. I am a paying customer that is having to wait almost three times the original time needed, given excuses as to why, no apology until after I basically demanded one, and other patrons are half way through with their meal that they order after we arrived to pick up our food. I would not recommend this Mazzios, I will be submitting this review to all online reviews available, I will call the store manager and also call corporate. This could have all been avoided if their was even a half hearted attempt at making me feel appreciated as a customer and not alienating me with her attitude and excuses. Also, we arrived to our lake house and found our pepperoni pizza like this and no dipping sauce for our cinnamon sticks. read more
