Just had my hair cut and brows done by Melissa and I am truly impressed. I'm a new client during the COVID-19 pandemic re-opening time (what a chaotic time for businesses!) and it's honestly amazing that they fit me into their busy schedule. Despite the new protocols (masks, taking my temperature, etc.), it was a luxurious experience complete with pleasant conversation, beautiful surroundings, and a lovely new haircut! I have had the pleasure of having two different services done here. I originally came to the studio following Bonnie (who waxes me lady bits). She is phenomenal. I don't end up with ingrown hairs, it isn't extremely painful a she is beyond friendly. If you need a wax, I would recommend her time and time again. Then, I was in search of a hair stylist and of course I asked Bonnie for a hair dresser and she recommended Nikki Tosto. Oh my gosh! She wS phenomenal. Not only was she super friendly but a few days after I had my services done I quickly noticed, it was a little darker than I wanted. She quickly got me in and fixed it. It is now the perfect color. He just moved here a few months ago after owning Darryl Allen Salon in Nashville, TN (I found it on Google.) He has worked with many celebrities and photographers and can be seen in GQ, Vogue, and Allure. The man is an absolute genius... Bridget is one of the most skilled hair dressers I have ever met. She knows how to give you the style you want. She also makes wonderful suggestions about what will look good on you. I truly trust her judgement and won't go to anyone else. She really spends time on your hair and makes sure that it looks good from every angle. I am in the process of growing out my pixie, and she has helped me through every step of the way. Absolutely in love with this place. It is absolutely so adorably decorated and everyone is so friendly. The receptionist was super friendly over the phone. I made an appointment with Rivajeta (ruh-vee-ta). My boyfriend and I had previously discovered this studio when we were visiting/apartment hunting and he needed his hair cut. Rivajeta gave him an awesome cut and we both really enjoyed her warm, friendly, and charming personality so much that I knew when it came time for my hair cut I would book one with her. I know it is hard to judge someone's talent cutting women's hair based on a man's haircut... BUT we just liked her so much I figured, 'why not?'. SO I went to Rivajeta for a highlight and a cut (to fix my previously botched bob and much needed root cover-up). She listened to everything I wanted and gave extremely well-thought out suggestions and was NEVER pushy with anything. She always wanted to make sure I was comfortable and made me feel like my decisions were always on the forefront (which is actually pretty hard to come by these days). She took the time to explain exactly what she was doing and exactly WHY she was doing it. I felt like I was getting a lesson in cutting, coloring, and styling hair. It wasn't necessarily to educate me (which is an added bonus) but to ensure that we were on the same page, so that I didn't feel unsure (about our plan or her talent) and to respect me enough to let me In on what she was doing AS she was doing this. I personally love learning new things but this was just a whole other level of awesome. You can REALLY tell she knows her stuff (both in how she teaches it and in the final product). Also, she told me about all the workshops she attends monthly, showcasing her drive to constantly learn about something she is CLEARLY passionate about. I believe this makes her truly excellent. She made GENUINE conversation too. It wasn't forced, fake or scripted conversation that I feel a lot of other hairdressers unfortunately tend to fall into having either. She made me feel like my time was important to her and aimed to ensure that I was completely satisfied. It sounds like a no-brainer and that service should always be this way but it is SERIOUSLY nearly impossible to find people as genuine, caring, talented, and thorough as Rivajeta no matter what field you look into. I will never go to anyone else. I HIGHLY suggest making an appointment with her. read more

The salon is reflective of its owner - brash, kitschy, and falsely self-assured. MB consistently attempts to pry into one's personal life, hyper sexualizing conversation. She is a talented stylist, yes, but her seat-side manner is completely garish and hick. A minor example, but emblematic of a very, very bitch move - she took before and after pictures of my haircut, promising to post and send them to me, and of course never did, even after a polite, complementary follow-up text. I have been going to Rivajeta for about 4 years now and she is amazing! She has made my over processed and dry hair beautiful again! She is a great listener and only does things that I feel comfortable doing (like cutting only one inch, when I should be cutting three). Got my hair cut by Kiersten; I have medium thickness, coarse hair with a few different curl patterns. Got my hair cut from lower-back length to just past my shoulders. Looked great the first day with product and a styling. The second day? I looked like a housewife from a 1950s advertisement. BAD. Not only did she cut my hair straight across, (A no-no for curls unless thinned) the layers I asked for essentially disappeared into a bob-blob. My hair was sticking out at weird angles. Do NOT go here if you have tricky hair - I called the next day to ask to see Kiersten because I was extremely upset - taking a mere 30 minutes of her time (on a day they closed at 4pm, no less!) - and was told I'd have to deal with it for a whole week. Had my partner call again because I was busy crying and couldn't deal; and got a "Here's your refund, deal with it on your own" As someone who's worked in customer service for years, I am APPALLED. Take responsibility for your bad job and FIX THINGS, or let people know up-front that you only work on "easy" hair. You don't leave someone hanging with something as personal as hair - ever. Neither I nor my significant other will I be going here again due to this treatment. Beware. read more

I originally found this place on Groupon while searching for the best deal on a haircut. After browsing through the many different options and salons who all offered great deals, I decided to go with mb studio. I considered them to be the most professional. I'm so happy with my decision, my experience was great! The salon is conveniently located on university near culver. Literally just up the road from me too, who knew! Cheri was my stylist and she was very professional and efficient. She layered my hair very nice and gave me a beautifully flowing face frame as I had requested. She was very nice and pleasant to talk to. The studio itself is very modern and clean. The receptionist is very nice along with the owner. I spoke with them a number of times for info and booking.
