My first observation is they NEED MORE VISIBLE SECURITY at the Turnstiles And entrances! I have seen many fare avoiders following riders right behind them to get in free! UNACCEPTABLE and DANGEROUS! I have turned around at one point told them to BACK OFF.... That's not a good idea, one never knows if they will attack. I don't see any one around whenever I use the T. A perfectly adequate surface-level station on Boston's MBTA station. No parking deck at the moment (this is underway), the station itself is handicapped accessible and does offer a large number of bus route connections. From the East side, it is close to downtown Quincy with shopping and restaurants. The platform is an island, so doors open on the left. At the ticketing concourse, there are the usual ticket automated vending kiosks and turnstiles. The station has a decent waiting area on the wide platform and there are audible/visual announcements of the next train. The station is between Quincy Adams (outbound) and Wollaston (currently closed for renovations, inbound). read more

Well, well, well, there is good news after all! That station no longer leaks! Back when the garage was still intact, it was not abnormal to find the entire floor wet, or icicles much larger than you'd expect hanging from the ceiling. Though this winter was mild, so who knows? Therefore, just like the legendary Bruce K. said: "perfectly adequate" However, while you are shielded from precipitation, like most of the MBTA, there is no climate control. It won't be as brutal as the outdoors, but don't expect it to be cozy in the winter or summer. Inside there is ample seating, considering rapid transit seldom has long wait time (though this is the T, so you never really know). It is also lit well, kept fairly clean past the turnstiles. Outside them expect some trash and debris. They do have an escalator and brand new elevator, but, that ancient staircase has definitely seen better days. Outside there is an area where many of the south shore busses start and end. There are signs posted with the bus numbers and destinations, and schedules are in the shelters (possibly inspector's booth too). However, these shelters are quite small, not heated, and if you're trying to protect yourself from wind or rain, hope that you find a spot! Safety... during the day your completely fine. At night I haven't felt unsafe per se, and there are bright LEDs illuminating the busway. It is also rarely completely deserted. Though to be fair I do understand where some others are coming from. The worst I've encountered is people being obnoxious, but that's as bad as it got. Some important advice: keep up on the basic maintenance. Icicles and ancient stairwells play nice with humans, but only up to a point. Some would be nice items: install some overhead heaters, especially in the bus shelters. Speaking of, consider expanding these tiny glass and metal boxes. Finally, and this is a reach: electronic signage about the bus arrival/departure time (like Harvard has). read more

This is one of four train stations going to Quincy (North Quincy, Wollaston, Quincy Center, and Quincy Adams), although Wollaston recently closed for long term renovations. As far as location goes, I believe this is a great stop to be close to for commuters. If you need parking, you may want to consider Quincy Adams or Braintree. As this is the third stop going into Boston, I never have problems getting onto the train whereas people on the very next stop (Wollaston or more recently North Quincy) tend to have trouble getting onto the train. The station only has Red Line service but it does also have numerous bus lines servicing different locations as well. All other aspects of the station are so so, but not too bad compared to the rest of the MBTA system in Boston. The station is pretty old so it cannot compare to the newer stops such as Assembly Row on the Orange Line. They do also have a convenience store right before you enter the station from the Hancock Street side as well as a Starbucks on the street as well. There are many reviews out here that have listed all the negatives about this T stop. Here are the things that I really like about Quincy Ctr. station that will be useful for anyone who could benefit from these: - Adams National Historical Park (http://www.nps.gov/adam/index.htm). The tours to the beautiful park start from right outside the T station (galleria building is the tour pickup point) - Buses: outside of Boston City limits, Quincy Ctr has the most number of local bus services (15 routes) going as far as Randolph, to Ashmont, to South Shore plaza, to Hingham etc. - Restaurants in Quincy Ctr: The big list of really great dining options around here. From Sushi to Falafel to Indian to Thai to all American fare. So many options. - Other essential services: Quincy Medical center is a 10 minute walk away from here. So also are other services like Quincy Court, Banks (Citizens, BOFA, Santander, and more all within walking distance), grocery stores (Shaws and S&S, Roxie's), harvard medical services, Quincy College, Quincy High School. All of these are within a mile radius. - Security: One of the biggest points about this T stop. There is always Transit Police here - especially at late hours. I don't know about Braintree because I have never used that stop, but every time I am around North Quincy T stop later in the night, I am pretty scared (kinda) given how lonely the access is and that I have never seen Transit Police ever during late hours. Wollaston is slightly better but still I never see Transit Police there, that often. - Cabs: Even late in the night, getting cabs here is so easy. A big challenge if you are at any other T stops in Quincy - The parking lot here is shut indefinitely. If you are a regular commuter who needs to drive to the T, you can park at Quincy Adams, Wollaston or North Quincy. - Nathans hot dogs / coffee shop helps many folks (including me) stay warm during cold days with hot coffee when waiting for the bus or a pickup. For someone who is in Town a lot for work and for pleasure, I am so grateful for the way this T stop is strategically located and even more grateful for the way it is managed. read more

This review is only about the ongoing razing of the old Quincy Center garage. Talk about a slow controlled demolition. Noise, Construction, Traffic, Buses In a space to small for them, Rider access severely reduced at bus bus berths that were relocated. Temporary bus shelters made of some aluminum material that heats up and conducts heat nicely I must say. It's like standing in a giant toaster over. Of course the MBTA officials booth right next to ours has AC a microwave oven coffee maker. Must be nice. Final thoughts...move it along seems to be taking a long time to raze a almost 50 yo structure. I think they may be trying to save a part of it. Who knows the MBTA has never been 100% forthcoming with their plans at least in my opinion. Avoid this station if you can it's a real cluster fu@k right now. read more

Here's where I go a little nuts with a review. I am sorry if this offends anyone. Pros: - close to the town center, shops, salons, restaurants, e.t.c - has a cute coffee shop - connections to major bus lines - COMMUTER RAIL That's it. Cons: - dilapidated construction - barren, leaky garage - sketchy peeps - smells like urine everywhere This station is one of the worst on the red line. It may be accessible from Quincy to town or other areas on the south shore via train or bus, but it's disgusting. People openly spit and pee in every crevice they could find, and no one cares. There's a bathroom at the top of the stairs in the station, but no one will use it. Absolutely disgusting. I have to use this station because I live in the area. I put up with the craziness, but I have no qualms about writing about my disdain. I know in other MBTA reviews of mine, I add that they need a facelift/renovation, but THIS station needs a major makeover...like a huge one. Like I wouldn't mind a fare hike if this station gets renovated. Big dreams...big dreams. read more

What can I say about Quincy Center? Well, this is where you can get almost all the busses that travel through and out of Quincy. You're in the center of downtown Quincy and you're walking distance to many restaurants and businesses. For the most part it's pretty safe. It can get a little sketchy at night.. there's some questionable people I've seen while I wait for the bus. sidenote: The hubby and I love to visit the Christmas displays at Quincy Center during the Holidays. The town makes it look very festive with their Christmas tree, Big Santa, and Snowman. Super Cute. read more

It smells like donuts on the platform. Fresh donuts. It's magical.

This station has a majority of cons as mentioned in other reviews versus pros, but I honestly think it's a work in progress. Pros: So far, the estimated time of arrival for both buses and trains seem to be efficient. I never have a problem waiting over a half hour for a bus because I look at the times and gauge it based on my commute. There are also many cabs during the peak hours if you've in fact missed your bus home. Inbound trains arrive frequently, but it might take a bit longer if going outbound to Braintree. There's an abundant amount of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops in the area as well. You've got choices ranging from American, Indian, Italian and more. Gunther Tooties and Starbucks are my top choices for coffee shops. It's literally not even 3 mins away from Quincy Center station itself. Craig's Cafe, Acapulco's and The Fat Cat are other examples of restaurants/cafes. Cons: I think there needs to be more charlie card stations because Quincy Center T is a major hub for those living on the South Shore and 4-5 charlie card stations won't suffice. The parking lot is not in use and rather than it looking barren, maybe the city of Quincy should put a pharmacy there or a mini grocery store. It would help the station a lot. Overall, this station has a lot to offer. Hopefully, in a few years it can be renovated to accommodate a bigger waiting area for the buses, have more charlie card stations, and more! read more

Quincy Center is a major MBTA bus terminal, you can get lots of places around the South Shore from here. Downstairs you can catch the commuter rail and the Redline to Braintree/Alewife. There's parking that is attached to the train station too. There's plenty of great restaurants and bars in Quincy that are within walking distance of Quincy Center. So come to Quincy and have a fun time!! Just watch out for hoodlums that gather around here after school gets out... there's all sorts of wacky characters. read more

Here is my issue with this station ... there is a condemned parking garage on top of it. Does that make anyone else nervous? Yikes. Could use better pedestrian-friendly approaches on the back side -- the Granite/Burgin Parkway intersection is not a fun place to cross the street. read more

The expression "it takes all types" really sums up the whole Quincy Center T experience. I consider myself a veteran of this station even though I now live 3,000 miles away. Since I grew up in Weymouth, I spent many an hour here waiting for the 222 (woot-woo) or waiting for my mom to pick me up (rare) or waiting for the train on the freezing cold platform. Even though Charlie card has made the T a little fancier, the old sketchy flavor remains at the T station. For those who are not aware, there is a parking garage here (entrance on the Burgin Parkway side near Dimmock St.) as well as a pick up/bus stop area which is on the Quincy Center/Hancock St side. This is important to note as I remember the days before cell phones and I would check both sides in case my mom and I miscommunicated (so glad I'm not 14 anymore!!). There are a couple of stores on the Hancock street side. There is a Dunkies which totally sucks but is necessary in case of sub-freezing temperatures. A sure bet for burnt coffee and stale donuts. There is also a "packy" which is equally dingy. read more

I really don't think it's as bad as everyone is saying. It's an MBTA train station stop, you can't expect it to be beautiful. I never really noticed a "smell" but to be honest, I've never smelt nice train stations and I've learned to be a mouth breather when needed (I'm a nurse lol). Theres enough room to wait for the train but I hate that there is only one set of stairs from the platform (it takes up to 5 minutes to get outside during rush hours home). There is an elevator also. Coffee shop is nice at station and being at Downtown Quincy, there are plenty of bars, restaurants, and other services in the area. Sabatino's on the other side of parking lot is awesome! There can be a lot of creepy people outside, but seriously, it's downtown Quincy and we all know the drug problem in the area. I'm sure you know how to keep yourself safe, but there are always cabs waiting too so if you feel uncomfortable at busstop, you could always take a cab out of there. But I feel like it's better than Boston. I work at BMC at "methadone alley", I've seen people way more effed up there than at Quincy Center so it doesn't really bother me (but I would def not want to be alone at night, just go straigt to the cab stand). But it's really not my job to judge them, just keep youself safe. But this is a train stop in Quincy, I am not expecting something fancy or pretty, but it def does the job and gets us to work. Which I feel, is all that matters in the end. read more

All the best places are in walking distance and these days a little exercise doesn't hurt, especially that person who takes up two seats on the commuter rail! It's a very good idea to bring an ipod or mp3 player to avoid the person who thinks they should be on American Idol. Hand sanitizer is a must! read more

Last night at 8:55 pm I was at the bus stop and the driver driving the bus 320 coming from Braintree heading Quincy didn't stop for me. The driver was a black man wearing glasses. He was coming on Hancock and just he passed straight by the bus stop also moving away from the curb. It was late, and I was the only person outside, I had to go back home walking because the next bus takes another hour. Please stop doing it with people. He was able to see me. I also waived. I'm a black woman and he is also black. He knows what it means. We deserve respect and be considerated. Could be a relative of yours in my place. Next time I'll record it with my phone and send it to everyone that can make you stop this treatment with customers. read more

Please, I beg you, fix your machines. At 6:18, 10/27/2017 at Quincy Center Station, all three-four of the mbta machines is incompetent, it would not or could not take my credit AND debit card. It took me 7 tries in order for it to accept my payment. Please fix at least one of the machines. Everyone I know dread using the Quincy center station because of this experience. It has made many of us late for work and frustrated throughout the whole morning. read more

Cover your mouth when you cough!!!! For some reason, everybody with a hacking cough uses this subway station. Approximately 93% of those people hack away without covering their mouths. When you add the fact that the bus waiting area has been soaked with urine for the past 30 years or so, it makes using this station difficult to withstand. Seriously, can't they pressure wash the outside area every now and then? The City of Quincy is trying to better itself and has been slowly doing this for years. Since this subway stop is a major on for the city, I just wish the MBTA would step matters up and try to make it a bit more bearable. read more

The MBTA station in Quincy has some of the best Brown for the lowest prices in Mass, Normally i would have to go onto Amazon and purchase a drug testing kit and wait a few days for it to be delivered before i boot up a .2 sack into my Leg vein but whenever i visit this location i am usually approached by only the highest quality of dealers, these usually range from your typical weed dealers all the way to Heroin and K2. I have yet to get ahold of a batch that has more than my usual dose of Fentanyl in it and it has been around 3 and a half months since my last overdose resulting in a hospitalization. I also have noticed in my recent purchases an increase in methamphetamine use and sales, this is great because i usually get home at around 9 Pm and usually am too exhausted from the opioids i take but with meth around i am finally able to get an erection and can usually go about 40 hours before i start having micro naps and think their are cameras in my room and i am being broadcasted on a deep web live cam for thousands of people to see.
