AWESOME! After years of taking my low milage SUV to the Land Rover Service Center in Santa Monica, I decided never again. The last time that I went there for a scheduled oil change, they told me I needed things that I had just paid for several months prior. So, either I paid for services that they didn't perform or the Land Rover Service Center mechanics just checks off a list without inspecting my vehicle to determine if the service is actually needed. Very dishonest! Who knows how many years I was paying for services that I didn't need......... I started my YELP hunt for a new place to service my SUV. It is the first service for this car since the prepaid dealer service expired, and I was looking for a new non-dealer garage to call home. I accidentally broke the rear Mercedes emblem on my vintage 98 E320. My usual Mercedes mechanic gave me the Mercedes number to call, I called and never heard back! Plus, when I called, I had to choose "retail" instead of "wholesale." Anyways, they didn't even get back to me so I felt pretty deflated lol. SUPERB! Top of the line, all around!! I had a tire that needed to to be replaced with a new one. I needed it done fast, on New Year's Eve. These are Covid-19 pandemic days and I particularly don't want to be exposed to people outside home. I called this place and Kevin answered. I explained my situation. He patiently and kindly listened, understood my situation and said he'd do all he could to get the job done without me even leaving my car, let alone coming close to or speaking to anyone at the shop, even though they all had masks and practiced social distancing. I drove up. Sat in the car and they jacked it up. Put my spare on and I left. That took 5 minutes if that, They then ordered me a new tire, put the new tire on and I went back. Again, I only sat in the car as they replaced the tire in 5-10 min. He checked all other ties for pressure and adjusted them as needed too. I thought I had already reviewed Mbz west, they're quite frankly the best repair shop for Mercedes Benz of any year that there is in LA... my convertible 1987 SL was not working. I was so upset because it just kept breaking down every time I drove it. It was a such a bummer, I just bought my first vintage car and then not one repair shop would make it work. Thousands Spent with no repairs that actually worked. Then I went to mbz west- they charged me less that 300.00 and completely repaired my car.. now I drive it as my daily driver and I'm obsessed with the condition of it. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car. Plus I'm going on shortly to get a little mirror piece replaced and he said it should take a couple minutes and it's quick and simple. I've been going to see Kevin at MBZ West for over five years now. He and his son have always been really helpful and have handled the maintenance of what is now three different Mercedes. On more than one occasion they have helped me with some minor thing and sent me off without accepting a dime. A friends Lexus had a missing nut that was making her front seat move forward and backward every time she accelerated or braked. I stopped by with it one morning and explained the missing nut as a cause and Kevin's son found a nut, replaced it and sent me on my way with a smile. Wow, it could've been a disaster Sunday. But, my wife and I found Kevin on Sunday after my car started smoking steam while driving on the freeway. I opened my car's hood and found out the hose to the coolant snapped and the coolant reservoir was completely empty. We drove around frantically and luckily found Kevin's shop's gate slightly opened. I saw Kevin and asked him if he could take a look at it. He graciously looked at it even though he was closed and he looked busy. To make the long story short, I left my car with him and he completely fixed my car. Kevin ran multiple diagnostics tests and test runs on two different days to make sure my car was fixed properly and to ensure that there weren't any damage to my car. If you want someone to fix your car with over 20 years of experience and honest, then Kevin is the man. I can't thank Kevin enough and I wish his shop was closer to where I live. It's hard to find a mechanic who really knows his stuff and who is also a true gentleman but Kevin is that and more! I recently inherited my dad's 1973 Mercedes 450 SLC and with each quirk I encounter I give Kevin a ring, describe what's going, and he always graciously gives me an expert answer. Most recently I encountered an issue with my transmission not engaging. I brought the car in without calling ahead and gave no notice but Kevin graciously stopped what he was doing to look at my car and thankfully it was a very simple solution... transmission fluid was low! He didn't have any fluid onsite but offered to put in fluid if I bought some and brought it to him which I did. Once he replenished the fluids, he didn't want to charge me at all and wouldn't accept a penny from me when I insisted on tipping him for his time and kindness.
