My car is now out of warranty, and I was looking for a new mechanic. I sent out a request for a few ballpark estimates. The first few were comparable to the dealer's estimate. A few came in much closer to my ballpark goal. I've seen the shop, it is clean and always keeping busy. I spoke to Cole on the phone and something just felt right, he was professional, knew his business, and said all the right things. We set up an appointment and when I brought my car in and Brandon took over where Cole left off. We talked for a few minutes and I felt comfortable leaving my car and went on my way. A few hours later I got a call and the issue I brought it in to repair was addressed and handled. My car wasn't running great but their mechanics were able to pinpoint the problem. Being that it was two different issues, Cole explained which needed to be addressed and which could wait. Of course a mechanic is going to find something else, and it will cost extra. The was something the dealer missed during my last service. We agreed on the urgent issue and postponed the less serious issue. I went to pick up my car they went over what was done, I still feet good and understood why it needed to be done. They said the car sounded better and I was in my way. As soon as I started the car I knew it was money well spent. How did I know? The car sounded much better, just while idling, I drove off and the car felt like it was brand new. I fell in love with my car all over again. I can't say enough about the service and attention I was given by Cole and Brandon. My car is not the most expensive on the lot, but I feel like they treated me as if it was. If you have a European car, I highly recommend Import MotorWorx, as not only an alternative to the dealer, but also as your full time mechanic. read more

IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS, I WOULD. I've been a customer at Import Motorworx for years, but this experience was beyond unacceptable. I brought my 2014 Volkswagen Jetta in for a routine oil change after receiving a 50% off promo text. The very next day, my check engine light came on and my car began violently jerking in traffic. I had to tow it home. When I brought it back in, COLE casually told me their mechanic forgot to put my oil pan back on my car. He then dismissed my concerns by saying that wouldn't cause the jerking I experienced. No urgency. No accountability. Despite this happening immediately after their service, they still wanted $200 for diagnostics and offered no discount or responsibility. Later, the GM called with an unconcerned tone and suggested I take my car elsewhere because I "didn't trust them"--after I've been a loyal customer since 2023. I wasn't even given a repair quote until I asked. I ended up taking my car to another shop and spending hundreds of dollars fixing what should've been a simple oil change. DO NOT COME HERE FOR A DISCOUNTED OIL CHANGE. Apparently, the discount comes with the risk of them forgetting to put critical parts back on your car. read more

Just had yet another wonderful experience at Import MotorWorx. They were referred to me by Davis Bros Tires (another wonderful repair place) a few years ago for a more complicated repair. I always took my BMWs to the dealership because I wanted to be certain the repair was done perfectly. But when I went to the dealership, they gave me an outrageous estimate and also said I'd need to leave my car there for at least 1-2 days at a minimum while they diagnosed then fixed the problem. Went to Import MotorWorx and they quickly diagnosed the issue, gave me a much more reasonable estimate, explained what was wrong and how they were going to fix it - and it all got done in less than 1 day. I've been a fan ever since. Have had several other repairs done there since then (my car is almost 10 years old - things are bound to go wrong) but they are always extremely helpful, professional, reasonable and honest. They never try to upsell you with un-needed repairs or maintenance. Wouldn't take my BMW anywhere else. read more

Also I didn't know my car was leaking power steering fluid because I got used to how hard the steering was. They changed the thing and it now drives so much better. Michelle always remembers my name and quirky car issues. I had numerous service light warnings that were a glitch in a small component and they never pushed me to fix the non vital issue once they found it, inspecting my car everytime it came on for me but was never on when I took it in to the shop. Today I brought my car in for an oil service and they found the battery was nearly dead, which was a vital issue, so they performed both services while I waited. I had a great experience here. It's not super cheap but you get what you pay for! The prices were not at all unreasonable, honestly, and far less than the dealership used to charge me for the same things (like by more than half.)* I am certainly willing to pay for a safe car because I ferry my children around in this thing. The guys who work here are incredibly polite, thoughtful, and capably answered all of my questions.** They were very accommodating (meaning a couple of guys stayed super extra late) when I was delayed picking up my car because of hellish Los Angeles traffic. When they assessed what work needed to be done, they rated the urgency of the repairs which I appreciated because it allowed me to prioritize the safety issues and wait on the rest. I will be bringing my car here for all future maintenance and repairs. (*Dealership charged $400-some for an oil change, Import MotorWorx charged $185.) (**There was an issue with my front seat passenger side airbag, namely, the light stayed on at all times. I couldn't understand why. The airbag had been recalled and replaced by Mercedes so I was afraid something was amiss and I wouldn't let anyone sit in the front seat for fear of injury. I had asked the dealership about this light being on and no one could explain it. These guys kindly explained it to me like I was 5 (but not in a condescending way). The airbag light was on because the airbag relies on a sensor to determine if there's a passenger in the front seat. Meaning the airbag light will only turn off is if someone is actually sitting in front seat.) read more

My VW servicing center in Sherman Oaks unfortunately shut down during Covid, so I was exploring for a repair shop nearby on the west side. I saw the good reviews for Import Motorworx, and I must say it definitely lived up to its reviews! Covid compliant, felt safe! Service done: Volkswagen, alignment, inspection, replacement of shock absorbers, oil change Pricing: (5/5) extremely fair pricing for parts and labor. When I went to get my oil change and inspection at the VW servicing center they charged me way more than what I got done here. Customer Service: (5/5) super great customer service, and really cute lounge waiting area. the person who got my information down was super helpful, thoughtful, and gave me a call to check-in, and provide results of the inspection and helped me to prioritize fixing needs to make sure every step of the way that I was okay with moving forward, and gave me the cost of each step. I'm honestly surprised I got my car back within the day! Dropped it off at 9:15 AM, with all the servicing done completed around 3:30PM. Not bad! Definitely coming back for any car servicing needs, and really grateful to have a shop near by! Tip: it is a bit challenging to find your first time around! The address/ map will take you a little bit ahead down the street, so as you get close by on Washington take the side street on either La Cienega or Comey to find the alleyway into the back area. After I yelped about the bad experience that I had here last year, Steve (the former manager) wrote me a fairly lengthy email, in which he made some excuses for what had happened, and in the end, offered me a free oil change for my troubles. The whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way, and I had the distinct feeling that the only reason that he cared was because of the now public yelp review (he wasn't very apologetic the day it happened). So, despite the fact that MiniWorx West LA is just so much more convenient for me, I've been going out of my way to get my car serviced at MiniCorsa in North Hollywood. Flash forward a year later, and there's a new service manager! I finally decided take MiniWorx up on the offer on my next oil change, hoping to find that things had improved. I'm happy to report that I had a great experience here, and found John, the new service manager, to be very genuine and to really care that each and every customer leave satisfied. He said that he read my review and really took my complaints to heart, and would make sure that no customer would ever have an experience like that again. I really believe that he meant it, and wasn't just trolling for a positive yelp review (I did not tell him that I would update my review, nor did he ask me to). I made an appointment for 9 am on Tuesday, and informed John that I would be waiting for my car so that I could go to work after it was serviced. As soon as I arrived, they started working on my car ,and my oil change was done less than thirty minutes later. A check engine light had gone and off the week before, and they pulled the code and told me it was just due to a low oil level (then showed me how to check my oil). A light also indicated the need for a brake fluid flush, which they said they checked and didn't need replacing yet. They really could have tried to upsell me on things here (like many places do when they see someone like me who doesn't even know how to check their own oil) but they didn't. I walked out of here with my free oil change and nothing else. Really happy about the new management here, and hope that future experiences are this great! read more

Roger is incredible! I bought my '07MCS last week and spent a LOT of time researching reputable shops. I emailed Roger last night and he allowed me to drop my car off this morning and drive me to work afterwards! Without me asking, he offered a free 32-point inspection and to call me on my cell with updates of my new baby getting what I metaphorically consider her immunization shots and X-rays :) Entrance to the super clean and charming office is to the right of the 5 service bays full of gorgeous minis (and a 7series Beemer for good measure). I wasn't clear on where to enter, 'til I was greeted by the kind and beautiful smile of Randi (Randy?). I had an oil change for my Audi Q5 a few days ago before the shelter in place was ordered. This is my second time getting oil change there and the service is as great as before. I am impressed by how this place keeps the office/front desk clean and disinfected during this corona virus pandemic. Michelle cleaned my car key with wipes after I dropped off and before I picked it up. She also gave me some extra wipes to clean my car (door handle and steering wheel) just in case. I brought my car for 40k maintenance + The break light was on so I asked them to check. They called me a few hours later and said I needed to change the rotors, (the discs were above the minimum rotor thickness so I told them no need to be replaced this time), I told them just the front break pads ($60 online) They charged me $700 for maintenance (oil change + filters) + front break pads. It takes 30 mn to change front break pads, maybe one hour to do the service. That is way too expensive! Will not go back. read more

This past summer, I was visiting from Oakland over a long weekend and my check engine light came on. Nothing severe appeared to be wrong, but I didn't want to drive back home without getting it looked at just in case. It was a Saturday, so I called and left a message and my number. My call was returned within an hour (on a freaking Saturday!), a guy called Roger instructed me to come in first thing Monday morning to sort it out. I went in Monday morning and spoke with Kate, who was aware of my situation, and she handled everything like a boss. I was out of the shop in about an hour (maybe a bit less), I felt confident about my drive back to Oakland the next day and I made it home without incident. I took my Mini to Import Motorworx for the first time in June 2020 for a new battery and oil change. I had an ongoing airbag light that I was struggling to find someone to fix it. Michelle who was working here at the time was kind enough to give me the codes so I could do my own research. Fast forward to March 2021, I decided it was time to get my ongoing airbag light fixed. Aaron was so helpful and transparent with what was happening to my car. He kept me updated with prices, parts and overall status of my Mini. They kept my car until the ongoing airbag light and codes were fixed and cleared perfectly! This is the second independent Mini Cooper specialist shop I went to resolve my Mini issue and they were able to fix it!! Aaron also gave me future pricing on parts that I can consider fixing on my car in the future which was so awesome. I came several weeks ago to get my 2005 mini cooper convertible serviced. I thought I needed new brakes, so I called and asked Michelle if they could take my car in and check the brake pads and rotors. They did and let me know both of them needed replacement. They also said there were several other things wrong with my car, but did not push to get them fixed, since they knew I was specifically looking for the brake replacement. The price ended up being just over $1,000 to get front and rear brake pads and rotors replaced. I was going out of town and was hoping I could leave my car with them while I'm gone and it was no problem. Michelle was so kind, friendly and reasonable. Would definitely go back here! read more

Had to bring my car back in for additional servicing, in which I wrote a very positive review on. Steve and his techs again handled me beyond proper thus another one. Steve was directly responsible for giving me guidance on getting MINI too oblige me on warranty matters that I would of never known about, that I was about to pay Miniworx to do. $4200 quote from MINI SouthBay handled but only after prying them and them 'looking' into it. Without Steve telling me this I would of got fleeced. Very cool Also I wasnt able to commit to my booked appt as planned. I came in as I could later and they handled me. I find it weird customer before said there is scheduling issues. Everytime Ive been there they put my car on the rack as I waited with either no appt, or me not able to make my committed time. Final note: Car drives better then expected, the transmission service that MINI most stupidly suggest at 100k or the lifetime I had done early, car rides considerably smoother. Noticed they did a couple things unsolicited. $250 well spent. Lastly I was honored a small discount without any prompting on my part as I didnt even know about it... again class Thk you MW. My 2009 MINI hardtop suddenly lost power a couple of weeks ago while I was decelerating in traffic. I took the key out and it restarted with no problem. Then it happened again last week, so I decided to take it here, after reading the yelp reviews. I have never been steered wrong by yelp reviews, and this was no exception. It helped too that MiniWorx West LA is close to my home, and it turned out that the staff were great. Ari booked me an appointment on the phone and, busy as they are, they honored it even though I brought my Mini there a bit outside of the time frame. John was so personable and most importantly, HONEST, in not being able to discern the problem with my car. As a woman walking into a repair shop, let's be real, you kind of expect to get ripped off, or sold a bill of goods. The fact that John looked at my car for two days and admitted that the diagnostics couldn't find anything wrong was, while a bit worrisome, still a relief that he, and MiniWorx didn't try to change parts needlessly just to make a profit. I had them replace my brake sensor that was out because my husband replaced the brakes and somehow didn't put the sensor back in. MiniWorx charged me a very fair price of $64 total to do that work. While I still don't know why my lovely Mini has been shutting off recently, I can say for sure that whatever ails her, I will be going back to MiniWorx for help when needed. This place is A-OK for being thorough, fair, and honest. read more

It's honestly painful for me to give MiniWorx a 5-star rating, only because I worry they will eventually get insane busy like the other few Certified Mini repair places in LA that take several weeks (even months) to finally get an appointment and your car looked at by a true Mini specialist! However... they deserve it, 100% Everyone here is super friendly and highly knowledgeable. Simple as that. I took my Clubman-S in for the engine light being on and for an oil change (because despite having a warranty, the factory oil changes are too far apart to maintain a healthy vehicle). They quickly diagnosed my vehicle and were very clear with what needed to be fixed and what it cost. They did the job quickly and had my car running the following day. Cost wise, they are indeed about 25-50% less than the dealership... I even called to compare the repairs I was having done. Granted, MINI's are expensive to work on and to replace parts, but if you own one, that's something you already accepted. If you don't have a full warranty, these guys can save you some bucks and do the exact same job with all original manufacture parts. Unlike the dealerships, they can't offer you a loaner car while yours is being fixed, but they do offer to give you a ride to where you need to go which is very generous. Also, don't expect to go in and be sold tons of unnecessary Mini branded clothing, coffee mugs, plush dogs or silly accessories because they don't have it. Thank goodness.
