Used to love this business. They moved to a new location on eagle rock blvd. I haven't seen Al in while . First thing he said to me is wow you put on a lot of weight . I was recovering from an injury. Where I couldn't walk I went in for a quote to have my wife's roof painted. I didn't even get that chance today. I was so disgusted with Al's comment. I had had such a good experience with a minor issue that when my car was hit while parked I took it back. The list of problems is unbelievable from the fact that they didn't replace the plastic shield underneath to the wild accusation that my after market transmission mount was the big noise I heard. I told them that it was the engine mounts. They told me that I was wrong. I took it to an Audi dealership who confirmed that it was the engine mounts how they had the car for weeks and weeks and didn't fix the biggest most important problem I do not know. read more

I have had my car fixed twice here and both times the prices were reasonable, they did really good quality work, and the timing estimate was relatively accurate. No body shop is going to be perfect. So far, I've had a great experience here and I wouldn't hesitate to go again. I can't speak to buying a car here since I only got the outside of my car fixed. Also, like a lot of car shops you have to be proactive in following up and timing / details might change even after the last conversation you had. I did a stupid thing. I left the trunk door open of my MINI Cooper and backed out, colliding with the open garage door. CRUNCH. My trunk was way out of kilter and wouldn't shut. (Garage door was fine.) I called McGibbons (they're in my neighborhood) and they said to bring it on in for an estimate. Al answered the phone, really nice guy. When I brought it in, Jack looked at it, and said that he could try to re-align it, but in case the back window broke, they wouldn't be responsible. I asked what the alternative was, and he said they would have to replace the whole back, which would run around $1200. So I took a chance, and they re-aligned the back without the window breaking - and he also replaced my chrome lining in the front, and glued the antenna (which had broken off) back. They got it all done in 3 hours. And for a really reasonable price! Al (Indonesian) and Jack (Armenian) were really such kind and competent guys. Al asked me if I was Filipina - and that's how I know their ethnicities. I'm really glad I took my car there! read more

I had formerly taken my battered 2012 Prius here to have the bumper replaced and it worked out fine so when my husband was in a major collision in our brand new car, I thought they might be able to help. Al and Jack both assured me they would take great car of our car. I'll spare everyone the details but to make a long story short they did not fix my car. With full knowledge that my two young children would be riding around in it they returned it to us in a criminally unsafe condition, with a totally mangled right rail and about four pages' worth of other issues which were uncovered by the body shop we took it to subsequently for a second opinion. The authorized shop deemed McGibbons' work "the most egregious butchering of personal property I have ever seen." And "extremely dangerous." I now have to pay an additional $16 K to the new body shop to undo the mess McGibbons left us with. I am glad my entire family is not dead as a result of Al and Jack's handiwork. As they have not responded to my certified letter requesting a refund I am now certain this is full fraud, and I am pursuing complaints with the better business bureau and bureau of automotive repairs. I look forward to seeing these craven scammers in court. Yelpers, take your car literally ANYWHERE else. read more

I said "OK" I Thought it okay to add another review, so I did and give them a Five Star and see how is my car will finish this time around, because if this guys are seriously like to fix my review about them they should do their best job. But it wasn't. Instate give me a another phone call and Threat me over the phone.... I was thinking to cane pickup my car with police since mental standers is so much different with this people at McGibbon's Shop but I want alone and pick up my car and again it was nothing has been done. I might have to talk with my associates to figured out how to make them responsible for all this worst job and damage. read more

This is the second time I needed repair on my 2000 Toyota. The first time was for a broken inside handle that needed replacing. Jack took the time to get the Toyota part and I appreciated the fact that it was so reasonably priced. Today, he installed a Door Stopper because my part had broken. Another shop wanted several hundred dollars (part & labor), but Jack charged me all of $70 and the door works perfectly. I bought my car in 2012 and discussed with Jack how much it might cost to repaint it because it had "spots" on the hood. He said it was a $3000 job, but my car didn't really need repainting. He explained that with the use of fine grind sandpaper with two polishes, this process would restore the original paint's luster and beauty, and would only cost $250 total. So, I left my car with them and really appreciated Danny, the MGR, taking me home. I am looking forward to being able to have a nice car returned in two days for a "Church Re-opening" program Saturday. PICKUP Unfortunately, after they picked me up and brought me to the shop where I saw the car, they were not able to get out the chips on the hood that I discussed with them originally (which was why I discussed painting it). I noticed that the inside door jams had light dirt on it, and asked about it. I was told that that would be part of the next Interior Detail job that would cost another $100. When I asked about the spots on the hood, Jack said they were chips, and that they could paint the hood and left side front panel for $700! If I had had that quote when we were discussing paint job prices before authorizing the wash, I would have just chosen that option for $700 that would have repaired the paint. However, I ended up paying $250 for an ordinary car wash, that didn't even include cleaning the door jams, and then I noticed that when I had rolled down the window to speak with Jack, and then rolled it up again, it was STREAKED WITH WAX. So I now wonder if they if they just didn't put it through a car wash with a wax option because I saw the wax streaked on the window. COMPARISON I mentioned this to my sister, in Three Forks, MT. She said, her husband had taken their two Trucks to a local shop to have a "Technical Paint Job". Both the F-150 and Little "Zippy" were repainted for $150 each, beautifully done! So, unfortunately, I now feel deceived and hurt, and quite stupid for letting them wash my car for $250 when they got a professional complete paint job on their trucks for $150 each that was truly beautiful. POST RAIN We had hours of thunderstorms recently, and the car looked brilliant post rainfall. So, I am updating my review in all fairness. read more

They were able to fit me in on a Saturday to change my headlights and an oil change. The quote they gave was very reasonable to replace my lights. Also the headlights I brought with me were the wrong ones but they spent extra time to make it work and did not charge me any more than the quote. Jack quoted me a very low price for the oil change but within 30 seconds realized it was too low but he honored the price he gave. It was almost half of what I usually pay. These guys are really shady. I just came in to leave my car with Lextech, which used to be at this location. Things looked different and I didn't recognize anyone, so I asked if they were Lextech. They said, unequivocally, "Yes. Same place, different furniture." I asked them where the people were I used to see, and who I had just spoken with on the phone. They said, "Oh they're on lunch." I was suspicious, so I called Lextech, and they told me they'd moved. I told the McGibbons people they were pulling some shady stuff (I used a different word), and they sheepishly responded, "Oh, well, we're telling you now they moved." Ya, sure. Worse experience ever! Do not go to this shop unless you have something in writing explaining what they are going to do with your car. Exact quote and exact day car will be ready. Al ( the owner) seemed nice at first and gave me a quote and said my car would be ready in a week. Then a week came so I called to go pick up my car and he said it would be ready in 3 more days. I called again and he said just wait till we call you. They kept giving me the run around for a month. Since the car was not ready and barely worked on, I asked him to give me back the car so I can have another shop work on it. Then he said I can only have my car back after I pay him more than the original quote he had given. Yet the car wasn't even running. This shop is extra shady! BEWARE!!! Why did I bother leaving my daughter-in-law's car with a baffled and totally incompetent Toyota of DTLA for three days (their communication with clients is lamentable and they have an incorrect street address on their letterhead, which makes Ubering a chore) when McGibbons in Highland Park fixed the car's problem in twenty minutes? Because, said Jack at McGibbons, I had not yet learned one of the truisms of contemporary automobile diagnostics and repair. "Toyota uses computers to diagnose everything, even an empty gas tank or a flat tire, while we still do things with our brains and hands," explained Jack, who "analyzed" the problem and fixed it while I waited. Nobody likes having to need their car repaired or in an accident, but going to mcgibbons takes a big stress away. Jack and Danny go above and beyond to take a lot of the stress away and when dealing with insurance companies and not having your car. I am very pleased with the timely fashion and how wonderful my car looks after an accident I had. They made it's easy for me to get my rental car, get my car back to me in a short amount of time and handled a lot of the back-and-forth phone calls through the insurance for me. I cannot recommend this place more. After my front-end bumper hit a cement block in a parking spot, my left front bumper would no longer stay in place. The bumper itself was not damaged, just the inderneath, as well as a couple of the pins that hold it in place. I went to 4 different spots, each one wanted over a $1,000 and insisted I needed a brand-new bumper. Thank God I tried Mc Gibbons, they said they could fix the bumper without replacing it. They also fixed one of my door handles as well. This was done for a quarter of the price everyone else wanted. These guys are honest and friendly. They have been located on York Ave in Highland Park for over 60 years. I will now only go to them, and I will refer everyone I know to them. read more
