She was done within 45 minutes to an hour and my lashes looked great. She's been doing this for 15 years and it shows. I also appreciated her honesty. She told me to lay off the lashes for the summer because my lashes are damaged from various incorrect applications done in the past. I've got nothing but love for MC Lash (and Maria specifically)! As a student, it's hard for me to justify beauty treatments given the additional cost. But I wanted to do something to give my eyes a little pop before a big conference, and bought a groupon to MC Lash. Little did I know it would be life transforming! In an hour, I went from feeling like a schlub to feeling glamorous. Obviously getting lash extensions weren't going to change me into a movie star, but it added just the right touch of fabulousness to make every day feel a little special. I love that they don't look super fake, but rather augment your natural look (while adding some wow factor). And as someone who goes for the makeup free look (due to laziness and lack of demand, again I'm a student), these lashes give me even more confidence to just walk outside without dolling up. Maria and her staff have been super super kind to me. There have been a few times when I've been a bit late (coming down from Edgewater is a trek, let me tell you), but they've always told me to catch my breath and relax. I came here from Groupon for an eyelash perm. First, read the groupon guidelines and make sure you call to book your appointment, and not use the online scheduling. Once you do this, you're in for a great experience. My eyelashes came out perfectly - she narrated the entire thing so I always knew what was happening. She also made custom curling rods for my lashes so that they'd get the perfect curl, a very nice touch. It's a family run business and I really have a lot of respect for everyone here. This place is a joke I wish I could give ZERO stars. I buy the mink lash set with fill and to my surprise there's an available spot for the very next day. I show up and my appointment can't be found. The woman had been looking at the wrong week and booked me for the following Thurs. Well, they do me the "favor" of doing my lashes anyways. This chick miraculously does my lashes in 30 min! (crap rushed job btw). On top of that people were coming in and out of the room interrupting her with questions, pulling her out of the room to "look at something" and at one point she stopped doing my lashes to talk in Spanish with a coworker about what they're doing after work not realizing I know every word they're saying and acting like it was a business convo. This all happened in 30 min kid u not. She assures me the next time will be an hour session and since I work hospitality I planned to tip 20% anyways so the karma bug doesn't bite me, but she had the nerve to claim her 20 min mink job is a $375 service without the groupon. I gulped and handed her the $75 tip. Long story short I come back for my fill 2 weeks later, expecting a 1 hour job and sure enough Im in the room by 1:14pm (while she's on the phone with a friend saying "I'm leaving after this client just gimme 20 min" and I'm out by 1:37pm crying because she rushed the shit job once again and glued my lashes together and used forceps to rip them apart. The staff are mentally abnormal when it comes to communication, when I asked politely whether I can get rescheduled, she became extremely upset and started yelling. The owner promised to reschedule to next day, however, at late night she canceled my appointment again. Basically, this place is full of people who cannot keep their words and you can never trust them. Choosing to deal with such small people is just a torture to yourself. I have been twice due to a groupon purchase. This place is located in a residential building you have to sign in upon arriving and the front staff are helpful in directing you to the location. The mc lash studio was clean both times in me going and the staff were friendly upon arrival. I got a no chip manicure both times. They have a variety of color options to choose from for your no chip. They allow people to bring pets and animals so if you have allergies brace yourself before arriving. My manicure looked great, but shortly before two weeks was over it started chipping. This is where they loose part of a star. I have had no chips last three weeks with no breakage. The person who did my nails informed me that if they chip before one week to return and she will fix it. Honestly it's so complicated getting their I don't know if it's worth it. After traffic, parking, making my way up the maze.... I'll pass. They loose part of another star because for some reason the person who answers the phone is aggressive and standoffish. I called because they changed my appointment without notification and it was a time I could not make it in. I bought a Groupon for the Gel Manicure back in July (it was an amazing deal). I made an appointment over the phone that had to be changed three times because of my hectic/ever-changing schedule. You have 24 hours from your appointment time to reschedule, so I never had an issue. However, two out of the three times I called, the lady came off rude and standoffish like I was an inconvenience. People have bad days, so I tried not to let that dictate anything. Although, I was nervous going in when the day finally came because of other reviews. The place is not the easiest to find, (I blame Google maps). The place on the outside when inside the building is the cutest and most welcoming. Inside it gets better. The place is decorated for Halloween and you can tell they didn't half-ass it. It made it festive and creative. The receptionist was nice, sweet and informative. I wish I got her name! Monica did my nails and she was amazing! I've gotten my nails done before at other places and she was the first to ask how my morning was going and if I was going to be anything for Halloween. She was easy to talk to and kind. I never felt judged like some nail technicians have the tendency to do. I have dry skin and I get a ton of small hangnails and she spent so much time making sure they were all gone. NO NAIL TECHNICIAN in the past has spent that much time on something like that, they would just give up! You can tell she cared about her work and she perfected it! So, I'm updating the following review: "I came in a couple days ago with a Groupon. I was late for my appointment due to a car accident on Lakeshore. Marcus (part owner and service provider) gave me an extra 15 minutes to make it. Phew! I was a bit lost, as it's located in the Lakepoint building. They have parking $8 for 2 hours at 500 N Lakeshore, FYI. The lashes are part mink, park synthetic, they look nice and he took his time applying lash per lash. He was very thorough and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. He told me how to take care of them and told me I should always go to someone who does then very clean! Apparently Celebrity skin did not do as good a job as I thought. The girl there applied two or more lashes to each lash, cutting corners and it makes it harder for my natural lashes to fall out when they are glued to more than one lash. :/. These lashes look nice now, I'll update this if I see otherwise. I also took advantage of a no-chip mani Saturday special. Monica is the nail girl. She's very sweet. It looked nice when I left. This morning though there is already a chip in the corner. :/ The salon is on its way, since it's new it's still in the process of being remodeled." Newest comments: The no-chip started chipping the next day, then started peeling away from the sides, it was awful, and messy, and I won't be back for that service. Here to review the massage service. Michael is the real deal! He's incredibly professional and amazing at what he does. I went in after a long time of ignoring the knots in my shoulders and back and he managed to get most of not all of them out in a single 60 minute session. My lashes were applied and a number of them fell out the next day. I called and got an appointment without issues and the owner refilled those that had fallen out. The customer service was okay. The major issue that I have with this salon is the false advertisement. My lashes are not mink. Therefore I feel a bit misled which is very unfortunate. Marcus is great and personable. Today was my first and last visit with MC Lash Studio. It is a beautiful establishment and in a prime location as it is only a few blocks from me. I went in for the microdermabrasion treatment. I do have it done routinely and I am well versed on the procedure and intensity. I have to say I've had much better experiences. My skin felt and looked the same as it did prior to the procedure. When the esthetician exited the room and I looked in the mirror, I saw no difference and my nose was still infested with blackheads. I was taken aback by the exceptional customer service on and off the phone, the cleanliness of the salon, the vast variety of products and polishes to choose from, along with the complimentary beverages and membership options. Let me start saying I usually don't give bad reviews about places because it's so personal and my experience can be different from someone else. I'm from Brazil and I'm used with people that work hard and receive no tips for it. They provide customer service because they like it and I don't want to generalize it because I do my lashes at places in downtown with amazing customer services but if you are reading this please AVOID THIS PLACE. They treated me like garbage on the phone. I had a 6:15pm appointment and bought it from Groupon. And to start off I was late by couple minutes in the traffic of Chicago. I tried talk to her and apologize since it was my fault. I said I would make on time by 6:32pm ( she said she would take me only until 6:30pm). She started calling me "honey didn't you read your email? I won't make my staff wait for you." And told me I had to pay a $25 fee for a reschedule service for something that I bought for $20 on Groupon. I've never seen someone related to customer service act with this level of class to someone that is willing and excited to experiment a place. It was so disappointing and I know I was late and it was wrong but I tried so hard apologize and she was so mean I felt like garbage. So please if you can avoid this place do it and go somewhere that actually wants to receive you. I'm also reporting this act to GROUPON ASAP since I'm not the first one to suffer this reaction. I had a terrible experience with Maria at MC Lash Studio. I called yesterday as a first time, potential new customer for mink lashes for my wedding. I chose them because of the great reviews on Groupon. In my initial call with Maria I mentioned I wanted to use a Groupon and her attitude changed from very helpful to short and impatient. She scheduled the appointment and asked for the Groupon info. When I mentioned I hadn't ordered the Groupon yet because before ordering Groupon suggests having an appointment first, she very rudely said "Groupon doesn't work that way" and said she would only hold my appointment for 15 minutes. When I scrambled to quickly order the Groupon and it went into "pending" status I called to inform her of the status and requested my appointment not be cancelled...I did this via voice message because no one answered the phone for me (caller ID?) after this. Needless to say, without even a return phone call back and less than 24 hours later I received the email notice that my appointment was cancelled. I'm very glad I had the experience I did with MC Lash Studio. I will never, ever give them my business and will tell any and everyone that will listen of my experience of their rudeness and unprofessionalism. P.S. I've had my eyelashes done a few times from being a lash model and I've also bought a few groupons. I've never really found a place worth coming back to and paying the full price until now. I found MC Lash Studio through Groupon and it was a great deal. If it's still offered I urge you to go get it! It's located in that tall building near Navy Pier. The first time I went there I luckily got there at the same time as another girl going to MC so she was able to show me how to get to their suite. It's a little confusing the first time. But anyways, I love the lashes! I think they were done by Marcus? He's super cool and awesome. My appointments have always been Saturday mornings when I'm hungover from Friday so it's nice that Marcus does chit-chat a little, but then during the application process there's nice music playing and it's quiet. Super relaxing. He asked me how I like my lashes to look and I told him voluminous and dramatic. He did an AMAZING job. So amazing that this is now my permanent lash spot. After a year or so of searching I finally found a good one! I get compliments on my eyelashes all the time and people always ask where I got them done and I tell them here! FYI They offer a membership deal that offers you a fill for only $50! What a steal. And Marcus (i think that's his name?) is able to take tips via credit card. The emailing confirming my appointment said cash tips only and on the day of my first appointment I was in a major rush, didn't have time to stop at an ATM and who carries cash in 2017. Soooo glad he is able to take card tips. Makes my life easier. read more

Awful customer service!!! I had booked an appointment via Groupon, and more than 24 hours before my appointment I received a text message asking to confirm or decline this appt. I declined as a conflict came up. To my surprise when I opened the Groupon app to reschedule it today, the appointment was still showing so I canceled it again, only to receive an angry call from the Salon stating I would have a $50 fine for canceling less than 24 hours. I explained what happened and the lady could not care less, trying to justify the fee on her "potential loss of income" from my cancelation, even though I reiterated it was not my fault. I wonder if the loss of a future recurrent client is worth $50. Be careful with this establishment!! read more

I called to notify my lash stylist that I was running late for my appointment and to see what the policy was and if I needed to reschedule etc. Her response is "well you get what you get. You're already getting a discounted service so it's just going to look like whatever". I don't think I've ever had a service person speak to me so rudely. I was so turned off by her rude demeanor and disrespectful and flippant tone there was no way I could feel comfortable enough to allow her to get close to my face. MC lash, If you don't plan to treat people who purchase your groupons with the same respect and courtesy when your customers call you with an issues DONT sell groupons. Apparently, this person is a manager? That's a terrible indication and reflection of this business. I'll gladly pay full price somewhere else to be spoken to with kindness and respect. - In response to the owners message: The fact that you stood right next to your staff and felt her tone was OK and acceptable speaks VOLUMES of you. I never stated that any of her solutions were not satisfactory but I did state that I did not appreciate the manner in which she was speaking to me. I also never stated that I wanted any special accommodations or wished to throw off anyone's schedule which is why I called 15 minutes BEFORE my appointment to troubleshoot. It's important that you understand that I have no qualms with your attendance policy but find your salon lacking in people skills. You made several assumptions about how I would feel about your proposed solutions but none of them are correct. I do not lack in comprehension skills and how rude of you to suggest that. Policies don't offend me. Rude lash technicians do. I bought a groupon for the full set of Mink lash extensions. Overall the staff started out very friendly and accommodating and the salon was clean. We got set up in the procedure room and Maria who did my lashed was very nice but I found it concerning when she didn't explain anything about the procedure or the lashes she was using or ANYTHING. Just asked if I had gotten them before which I said I had not and then I laid down for her to tape my lower lashes down. I figured she was inspecting my lashes to make a recommended length, size and curl but after 10 minutes of her working, I realized she had just started putting the lashes on. I trusted her judgement and just let her do her job since the salon charges over $400 normally for the procedure... figured they would look amazing. After less than 30 minutes, she was done and I looked in the mirror and they were very sparse, and had very little curl to them. The room was quite dim so I figured it was just the bad lighting but after returning home and seeing them more closely, I was very unsatisfied with the results. I could clearly see lashes with no extensions and even some extensions that weren't put close to the lashline. In doing some research, I found that the procedure should take at LEAST an hour even for the most skilled of technicians. So I picked up the phone and called to see if I could come back in to get more put on. ( I was leaving for a vacation in 2 days ) They never called me back until I called for about the 5th time and the receptionist was extremely rude and condescending at the fact that I was unsatisfied with the supposed $400 valued lashes. She even made a remark about me purchasing it from Groupon which made me feel inferior and unvalued as their customer. Regardless, when I finally spoke to Maria she said I simply didn't have any more lashes for her to put extensions on but I could come back in for her to look at the lashes but couldn't promise anything (fine). So I went back the day I had to leave for my trip so I dragged my 50lb suitecase to the salon to see if there was anything they could do. As I suspected, she was able to put quite a few more on and they ended up looking much better.
